Mobility is just as much of a class mechanic as blinking/stealth.

Sad, my 8 Legendaries are worth less then. I always saw Legendaries not only as a cool skin, but also as a great utility to invest in, changing stats.

Now Legendaries arent even unique anymore, except for the skin and +1 Infusion slot…

Yea, cuz it’s not like you can change stats for free without dumping 4-6g into the forge… oh wait…

Trinkets/ Rings are unique. You can’t equip 2 of the same, which would make it really complicated. They’re also dirt cheap. Just be happy with what we’re getting.

I am missing just the Fractal speargun, been trying to get the last one for a couple of week. Hopefully, it will eventually drop.
Either way, its the only fun pve content I currently enjoy, so don’t mind running it.

I had all the fractal skins except for the mace. It took 14 months for me to finally get it, and I do 50/40 pretty much daily. I wish you luck.

You can have a fractal weapon reward track as soon as we get Glorious Armor and Glorious Hero’s Armor added to the dungeon vendors for tokens.

Edit. On a more constructive note, the solution is simple: implement the fractal weapon boxes that were data mined so long ago.

Even more remarkable (and confusing) is that the elemental source is a structure… so apparently the Swirler isn’t, if it can be condi bombed by epidemic…?

Something that was bugging me an keeping me awake, but to ice the cake of weird either retaliation doesn’t damage it or it just flat out doesn’t show up in the combat log.

I’ll be honest, seeing this makes me feel somewhat foolish and also makes me wish we had the new combat log a long long time ago. I just assumed since the source is a structure, the top must be as well. Presumably it’s always been susceptible to condi…?

Ages ago, when we did our tests on what skills worked, we just had one person spamming a certain skill to see if it worked or not. We knew the hitbox was below it, and you needed large aoe to damage it. We never bothered with the combat log, but it didn’t show condi damage back then anyway. Once we figured out a few cluster bombs and some arcane/staff aoes did the trick we didn’t bother digging further into it for the next 2 years. What’s the point when you run with the same 4 people and the same comp every night? I never thought to look at it again when the new combat log was released.

Hit auto attack hitting in melee makes no sense from a design perspective because virtually all of his attacks are already anti-melee, and there is very little risk in ranging him. In melee you have to worry about swipes, lupine blast is much more dangerous, necrid trap, frenzied blast, ect. In p3 you don’t even have to worry about life drain because you’ll typically be outside the aoe radius when ranging. The only concerns then become the single target life drink and his auto. To me the mechanics always made sense the way they were.

So, picking adept or master level traits in a higher slot is no longer possible, correct? If so, I don’t really like that change. There are still some less than compelling GM traits in certain lines.

Piercing Shards will still have the same problem in the new system that it has in the current system: it doesn’t make sense in a build that’s not pure conjure, or a niche’ situation. Earth would still be the better line for a D/F build.

Q: Skill points aren’t just a way of unlocking traits and skills. They’re a form of currency. What happens with all the mystic forge recipes that require Eldridge Scrolls or Philosopher’s Stones, or more importantly, Bloodstone Shards? How are people supposed to make the current legendaries if all skill points suddenly disappear and no one can buy bloodstone shards? What happens with Bloodstone Shards and Eldridge Scrolls people have already bought and were saving? Will the new legendaries require Bloodstone Shards? Last but not least, please for the love of god, DEFINE “mystic forge crafting materials”.

Underwater combat is absolutely terrible. It’s either painfully boring or painfully awkward, and usually both.

It would have taken a Herculean effort to polish it to be on par with terrestrial combat (which is outstanding), and it seems they didn’t want to invest the resources. It’s unfortunate perhaps, but I can’t blame them for making that decision.

Far as a I can tell, there’s only 4 significant changes underwater:

That’s it, AFAIK.

There are a ton of problems with water combat, but I’ll just hit the major ones to keep this a brief as possible:

  • Combo fields: One of the coolest subtleties of gw2 combat, and also one of the most important for both PvP and engaging PvE content. They virtually disappear underwater. Fire fields, smoke fields, and most ironically, water fields are very hard to come by and the few that can be used underwater, just like any field underwater, are incredibly awkward and hard to finish through. This is one of those classic “immersion” issues.
  • Weapon Diversity: Spear, harpoon gun, and trident. That’s all we have for 8 different classes. Incredibly limiting when it comes to build diversity and utility.
  • Utility Skills: Go underwater on a thief and try to change your utility skills. I really hope you like venoms and signets…. Every class has a number of utility skills that simply cannot be used underwater. There is no replacement version that’s similar and less “immersion breaking”, in fact there is no replacement skill at all. Just a big red X. Completely broken for game balance, and boring as hell.
  • Attack Speeds, Damage Coefficients and CDs: In short, every class feels abhorrently weak and under-powered when fighting underwater compared to fighting on land. Even with best in slot aquatic weapons, proper sigils, and a 6th rune on your aquabreather. The only 2 exceptions to this are engineers and to some extent warriors.
  • Mobility: Again, an “immersion” issue that breaks both balance and the fun of combat. Classes like thief and mesmer that rely on stealth and the ability to disengage lose some or all of those abilities underwater. Gap closers and movement skills are few and far between and typically suck. Soft CC from cripple, chill, and immobilize are seriously lacking on weapon sets and utility skills.

These (and other smaller issues) are the reasons why Raid on the Capricorn was removed from the PvP map rotation, and why the only bit of underwater content that’s been released since launch is the Aquatic Ruins fractal (in November of 2012, nothing since).

Anet could make underwater combat better, improve it a little bit, but what’s the point of doing that if it’s always going to be kittentier and less fun than fighting on land? It was a cool idea that didn’t pan out well, and I’m pretty sure they’ve resigned themselves to the fact that it’s a lost cause.

So yea, a Herculean effort would be needed to fix it, and it’s hard to imagine water combat ever being as fun and diverse as fighting on land.

Do any of you guys use OBS to record videos? If so, what settings do you use? Just did a quick clip for a discussion in another thread and realized the quality looks like kitten. Resolution down-scaling is set to none (1920×1080) and upped the quality balance to 10 in Encoding and didn’t really do much.

The five seconds mentioned in the item description is the duration of the might stack, not the ICD.

They’re talking about the wiki page, which mentions an ICD, not the item’s description text.

After jumping on my thief and spamming unload on a vet risen giant (insert joke about the meta evolving), there’s no way these things have a 5 second ICD. I hit 14 stacks of might in less than 10 seconds. Someone better at the math thing than me can work it out, but pretty sure there is no ICD at all.

Edit: Full zerk + scholar, second pistol sigil was force.

Blast stealth before dropping down. Run to the first elevated platform to the left of the entrance gate. Kill the 2 patrol mobs if they’re there.

SR or blast again, 1 person activates the button to let the others past the first gate.

Kill patrols on the catwalks as needed. Blast stealth again. One person gets the top button to let the others into the console room.

2 people stand on the buttons inside, thief SRs on the console.

Run outta the cage and up the ramp, blast stealth again and run to the turrets or into the bomb room.

Profit.

This is [YET]’s record run so, adapt accordingly, but it shows the general idea. They die intentionally in the video to speed things up, but you can do it slower without anyone dying for more casual daily runs.

Anyone done a solo of the new Lupi? I gave it a few tries and got past phase 2 by ranging him, but didn’t last long in phase 3.

I managed to get to p3 off wall on warrior, but ran outta dodges. Even had you use burst skills to proc building momentum a few times. I’m sure its still doable but I kinda think Sig Stamina might be necessary if you’re doing it off wall.

Yesterday we only had 3 people and were pugging the last two spots for a short tour. When we got to CM we started p1, thief did the basement, listed the lfg, and were waiting outside the barn before Morgan.

An ele with 5 digits worth of AP joined and entered, and promptly died somehow. Turns out they wandered into the basement, and then proceeded to kitten us out royally for not specifically telling them that none of the mobs were dead and the basement wasn’t cleared. I dc’ed shortly after that so I lost the party chat and the hilarious whispers that ensued.

If only this game had minimaps with giant red circles and dungeon event dialogues on screen…

I honestly think one of the issues with pugging fractals is there still isn’t a “pug strats script” for every part of every fractal. There are some basic ones, like if you have a thief in snowblind, pugs expect it to solo the first bonfire; and “keep one alive” at the arm seals on Cliffside, but most of the rest you’ll have 5 people expecting to do each encounter 3, 4 or even 5 different ways. Then things turn into a clusterkitten.

Compare that with a generic “CoE path 1, zerk” pug, where 99% of us can script out exactly how it will go. Even though that script is like, 7 months out of date and stupid with stacking Alpha in FGS corners, having everyone on the same page is pretty valuable. Especially in fractals.
