I’ve been told that it has been datamined ages ago, you could try googleing it if you really want to see it, personally I’m hoping tos ee it in-game some day ^^
I’ve gotten into the good habit of actually reporting those players who verbaly abuse others
Hopefully that will prove effective
1. WvW is a lot more PvP than PvE imo :P
2. I believe they’re working on some major PvP improvements but don’t really release a lot right now because it’s not fully done; they have promised us new gamemodes though
3. I think that PvE has a bigger fanbase than PvP.
4. Still, you’re right, they do seem to Anet seem to care more about PvE
I don’t really agree with all the things you say, how is a combat system where every attack hits its target more skill-based? O.o And those “wasted attacks” you talk about, you can just use your #1 weapon skill to get rid of aegis and blind, usually at least :P
Sounds like quite a good idea actually
I think we should stop after POIs, this gameis supposed to be from 12 years :P
I personally hope they won’t go with the template of a member from each race in the team, it’s way too predictable to be especially exciting :P
Look at the sentence you’ve quoted Kurt, I’ve used “who are online” and “we would like”, not “you have to” or “you must”. Every guild requires some kind of organisation and hierarchy, but we also understand that no a sane person will pay for a game to be bossed around on internet.
Oh right, I slightly misunderstood the sentence while reading it at first, thanks a lot!
With this in mind, we would like members who are online to be available for our evening tPvP events starting at 20:00 CET (GMT+1), and represent ReVo while you’re at it.
Do I have to be available every evening? Because I’m busy during weekdays, weekends on the other hand…
It would be quite awesome if we managed to write more on the wiki before it’s too late :)
A
I really like the city, but I think it would be awesome if it was replaced by a ruin, every time you walk past a burned-down building it will remind you of LA in its glory days, them feels are gonna be crazy
I was wondering if the black lines were hiding letters like the attached illusion….. but I haven’t had time to play with it myself. o.o
What black lines are you refering to? The spaces between the symbols or what? :P
I can’t stop looking at this as braille
. Although it most likely is not, there is very strong similarity in the two. Where as lines would be connected dots.
It does look incredibly promising :O I just took a rather quick glance but it does seem to fit the cypher very well!
Edit: I just noticed the name of the picture, is that Braille?
Second edit: I must be half-blind, obviously it is Braille since you said it is, sorry :P
(edited by The Kurt.2518)
I’d love to put more time into this right now, but have a rather huge school project till the end of this week, but after that I’ll start actually being productive with this cypher
i think that’s an awesome idea
Yeah, I did some overlaying as well, didn’t see anything special, some symbols merged together quite nicely, but not really on a large scale. This makes me think that maybe putting them on top of eachother and letting the black parts “cancel out” might be the right way to go, I might try that if I get more time :P
I’m still intrigued by the skeleton in that cage… Whom could it belong to? :O
True… But if you look at the images that Luna posted earlier, they include an alphabet and a set of numbers. I have no idea where those numbers are from, but if you look at for example 6 and 7, the only difference between them is a little bit added (like a dash or a bit filled in). Maybe the symbols in the cypher work the same, in the image you recenlty posted you clearly show that some symbols only differ from other by a little fragment added or lacking, what if they are proceeding numbers? :D
Wouldn’t the completely remove the point of the bosses? They are supposed to be difficult content where you need a lot of people, there are several big bosses that are much easier then these, and if you don’t want a lot of people, then FOTM is for you :)
Shouldn’t there be some content made for everyone? The moment something above average difficulty is released some people complain, which seems rather odd considering how much average difficulty content there actually is
It seems like at least most of the symbols can be described by taking just a few of them, rotating them (or mirroring), putting them together or just removing a little bit of them… I wonder if that can tell us anything about their meaning (or relation to one another), or if it’s simply a method the devs used to create more unqiue symbols.
hmm seems to be just a block of letters+ numbers in a font of sci fi flavour, block is without words but just to have a repeating wallpaper illusion of ‘data’ to represent scarlets plan and design being beyond out comprehension. If it were actual readable text relevant to the story it’s be more readily translated and relevant to revealing her plan as part of this update for the players. However as ther eis no quest prompt or NPC asking what it means can we help? then i suspect it is merely decorative in purpose.
Anet have many times before had coded messages hidden, maybe not of such crucial importance that every player has to decode them to understand the story, but often adding a bit of flavour to the world, such as names on gravestones in new krytan
I believe this code might be something of that kind, a little bit of extra info to create some hype, but as I said, probably nothing central
So after I’ve edited a post I’ve made it starts loading, but it never stops, it just goes on forever. If I open the topic in a new windom i can see that the post has actually change, but back in the first window it is still loading. Anyone else had this problem?
Not Junk, just two letters/symbols sticked together. I’ll try to figure out who is what.
I never thought about them as symbols stuck together, that’s really smart, could certainly lead somewhere
But I wonder if the symbols are all letters, and if they are supposed to only be read from left to right; they are so far from resembling anything so it can be a bit difficult to really say
Edit: it might be particularily difficult to crack it if they are number. The symbols wouldn’t even have to represent digits, maybe we would have to compare number of vertical lines to the number of horizontal are some other crazy thing
(edited by The Kurt.2518)
I’ll just leave this here :>
What letters are those? :O And those symbols on the Asura gate do look strangely familiar…
Do we even know if its supposed to be some kind of code? It could just be decorative (or ads
).
Well, we can’t know for sure, but it does look like a cypher
I did a bit of research and it turns out that the most common letter in the english language is “e”(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letter_frequency), and the most common word is “the”(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Most_common_words_in_English), so assuming that this code translates directly to English, this could prove usefull :)
However. If it is indeed a Pigpen Cipher, we must hope they used the basic letter layout. For example it is usually to begin with a word and then finish the remaining letters of the alphabet in the grid without any double letters.
If this is the case it will be quite impossible to ever crack it. (though I would try putting in “SKARLET” since it might be obvious and doesn’t contain any double letters.
Btw, it’s spelled “Scarlet” ;)
(edited by The Kurt.2518)
Its just a slapped text-like alpha on a texture in a bit random form so it wont look the same on both sides. I doubt theres more to see in this ;]
I’ve been thinking about that, but even though it has a random-like fashion, I think Anet would put more thought into an image that appears completing everything in the lair :P
(edited by The Kurt.2518)
All right, I’ve color-marked the best picture of the code and posted it all in a new thread (link: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/madness/Cracking-Code-in-Scarlet-s-Lair-SPOILERS/first#post3571360), it would be great if we could continue our investiation over there
On another thread we started discussing what the code that appears after interacting with the control panel in Scarlet’s Secret Lair means. Since many other subjects where discussed in the same thread I decided to create a new topic to hopefully get some people to join!
So far we have discovered that all of the code is a quite short sequence repeating over and over again (see attachment). It goes RED RED GREEN and then repeats, on both the left and the right side, they’re just slightly displaced relative to eachother. Furthermore, we’ve noticed that the rows marked with A and B are mirror-images of eachother, and so are the rows marked with C and D. Ideas on how to crack it included putting the left and right side on top of eachother and looking at the result, “subtracting” one side from the other and also comparing the signs to some languages such as New Krytan, because they could be simplified letters of one of those languages.
Anyone with any ideas?
Another thing came to my mind… You know how we have digital-looking characters, like digits on an alarm clock or something? What if this is the digital representative of New Krytan or some other language? I see some correlation, check it out:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/New_Krytan
There’s even more to it.
(my picture shows the left side)
The red parts (A) are the same.
Following the first red part there are three lines of code (the yellow part). The third line of the yellow part is a mirrored version of the first line (yellow arrows). On top of that, the line in the middle between the two yellow arrows is a mirrored version of the first line of the red part (A).
Oh and the green part (after the second red box) is a mirrored version of the whole yellow part.At this point it was 3am and i needed some sleep.
So now, what is the “real” code and what is just there as a distraction?
I don’t think its morse code.
Maybe it not a code as each symbol stands for a specific letter, but like a graphical code.
Like if you would merge the left and right sides, adding both lines of symbols together, to reveal the meaning or maybe you need to “subtract” one side from the other (because why having 2 sides, that are slightly off to each other in the first place?).To Anet:
Whoever came up with that, big thumps up and please more in the future!
That’s brilliant! I’ll think I’l, start a new thread about this because I’m worried the 200 post on this threads scare away people that could potentially interested
I can try merging the sides when I get home, but another thing I thought about is that maybe we shouldn’t focus on what the signs mean, maybe it’s the space in-between the signs that conveys some sort of message
I don’t believe it is random – it reminds me strongly of a tic-tac-toe cypher. See this for an example of how to do tic tac toe code:
http://www.wikihow.com/Write-in-Tic-Tac-Toe-Code
I’ve gotten a screenshot – but haven’t had time to work on it. I have noticed it’s two columns, and each starts repeating partway down.I took a closer look at this picture, and it turns out that the code doesn’t repeat exactly. On the right side, I marked the parts that are the same with red and the ones that are different with green; on the left side I marked the section that is not repeating with green… It’s really weird, I feel that this almost deserves a thread of its own :P
Green/blue/red is the same, but yellow isnt in all part, only 2/4.
Does this mean that the right and left side are the same, but just slightly displaced? And furthermore, what piece of info would contain repetition, and so much of it too? What I mean is, why would the blue and green part be so similar while not identical? It makes me think of poems, because they often contain repetition, but this doesn’t feel like a poem…
It feels like it’s necessary to film a clip of the text scrolling past to be able to truly see where it repeats, I just might do that if I get enough free time

I just noticed that in one of the cages in Scarlet’s lair there is actually a sceleton, I wonder who it belongs to…
Has anyone figured out what the symbol code means (last picture on the console) ?
After going all the way collecting the parts to enter the cave and to open the chests to complete her diary for the code to activate the console; that Anet just put some random symbols on there, in a cave otherwise packed with hints, makes kind of no sense.

I’ve tried working on it, but all the dots confuse me, I’m not sure if they are part of a character or if I should count them individually, and also I’m not sure if it counts as an individual character if there’s two symbols on top of eachother :/
They aren’t necessarily accessible, maybe they’ll appear later
But it would be a bit weird to mark them on a map and then not let us find them
I don’t think that it’s very well explained how to use the hammers, at first I thought they were only for repairs, didn’t know they could actually make a barricade magically appear :)
You have a point, but it’s also important for it not to be too rewarding, because if everyone starts reparing there’s no chance of winning whatsoever :)
I simply love this thread xD
You are failing to understand the actual argument. We know Sylvari die, instead of being corrupted. However, Subject Alpha shows that different draconic energies can be combined without killing the subject. In other words, Sylvari aren’t dragon minions, or they wouldn’t die from corruption.
Additionally, we know that every dragon minion is completely and utterly devoted to it’s master, and has no free will (Sons of Svanir are not dragon minions, and some Risen join willingly and thus retain free will). Glint was the only dragon champion that we know of, that was given back it’s free will by the Forgotten. Svanir shows that the only other alternative, is death. So Sylvari can’t be dragon minions, they have free will!
Subject Alpha is evidence that it is possible to combince dragon magic, but it says nothing about if it is possible for a elder dragon to corrupt another dragon’s minions; we can still only speculate about that, because the ways they corrupt might be different from the way in which Subject Alpha was created. Furthermore, the GW2 wiki does say they the Elder Dragons differ, so we can’t use other dragon’s traits as proof, even though it might be an valid argument :)
There is something going on in Divinity’s Reach, and it might very well be something with the Queen… E did tell Marjory that there’s some serious business going on, in that short story that was released quite some time ago, I should probably read through it again :)

“Boxes are cool.” – Moto
Wait, is that an actual quote from the game? :O
Wait, is the Jungle Dragon confirmed? O.o
I think that 5-man instances can be epic as well, it could be an interesting idea to make some of them on time as well
What I really think that makes something exciting are clutch moments, and, as mentioned before, when people cheer for each other, which I believe can happen if 5-man groups as well
I think that it’s not right to use “dark” and “mature” interchangeably, in my opinion they are very different. I do agree that GW2 should maybe get more mature, at least once you dive a bit deeper into the story. I recently read “Ghosts of Ascalon” and I really enjoyed the mood in it; it felt serious while not failing to be cheerful from time to time as well
I think the problem is that every average players expect that all the content is done for them, while it isn’t. There is some content made for more hardcore players and there’s nothing wrong with that, a game shouldn’t have to ONLY be made for casual players.
If more open-world raid bosses will be coming up in the future, an overflow mechanic revamp is absolutely necessary!
Kick AFKers, get people into highest populated overflow, allow the choice of overflows.
I’m not sure that kicking AFKers is the right method though, some people are AFK because they’re trying to get into the non-overflow. A district-like solution would probably be a lot better, and it would also allow for kicking AFKers while not making it too difficult for them to get back
I felt compelled to add my contribution to this thread. Below you can se my Asura cheering for Jory and Kasmeer :D
