This guild is awesome, everyone is really nice and helpful. It’s been nice playing PvP with an organized team and there’s always someone giving you good tips Everyone is really friendly and I’ve gotten some great advise regarding crafting a legendary.

I don’t know anyone who likes using a treb.

That is probably is probably only because they are new players. The trebs are incredibly strong before the outer gate is broken and still quite usefull afterwards. Not using them is a terrible mistake :P

Enough team fights don’t happen on Stronghold, imo.

I think it has improved a lot in this beta. Before there weren’t taht many, but once your team becomes organized they start to pop up; fights for the communes, fights to defend/destroy the treb, fights to kill/protect the hero… I’m personally happy with the amount of them

-add more players. map is very large and would work much better under a 10v10
(At least try it for the next beta to see how people respond. and scale npc life accordingly )

I actually think that 5v5 works perfectly, because you are rather few it realy forces you to have proper tacticts. Still, trying out more players might be good, but I doubt 10v10 would work, it would just be total chaos

This is a copy of a post I made on the GW2 subreddit (link: http://tinyurl.com/np723j2)

So I’ve been no-lifing Stronghold most of the beta-weekend and I have come up with a few things that maybe should be looked at (ignoring some obvious bugs):

- Archers are still bad, guards are killed by players way too easily
- The voice telling you that a trebuchet is firing at you is very low and is incredibly difficut to hear if you aren’t prepared for it
- Getting on and off the trebuchet is laggy. It responds very slowly and if you click several times it can put you back on it again.
- The fact that the trebuchet respawns by itself even though there is a repair mechanic feels a bit out of place and removes focus from the supplies.

You don’t really have to read this next part, but I thought I might explain the problems in greater detail. The laggy trebuchet is a big problem when you are trying to protect your outer gate while being under attack simultaneously. If I managed to scare some people off I want to be able to get on the treb and fire some shots without having to be afraid of getting stuck on it and getting killed without being able to do anything. This can make the difference between a saved or a broken gate.
I find the need to use supply to repair the trebuchet a lot of fun. As a defender, it gives me a reason to actually care about supply. It also means that going into fights is a bit more risky because if I die and lose my supply I might not be able to use the treb when I spawn (if it has been broken during my absence). When the treb spawns by itself you rarely have to repair it as it usually works when you need it anyway.

I feel like I need to put in a good word for Stronghold considering what a blast I had playing it. It was almost the only thing I did during the entire weekend and though it’s not perfect I enjoyed myself immensely.
Yes, it is a bit hard to get into as it’s quite a lot of stuff going on and you really need good map awareness. The fact that it requires more team coordination that conquest makes it a bit difficult to play with a random team if you don’t have good communication.
But once you get into it and get a team that knows how to use the chat I think that it is absolutely amazing. The constant dilemma if you should focus on defense, attack or on getting supply (or channeling heroes) forces you to make split-second choices and when those pay off it feels amazing. I feel that the gamemode leaves a lot of room for strategic play and makes it quite clear when you make mistakes. I really like the excitement of abandoning defense completely to try to rush your enemy’s lord.
What makes it very difficult for new players might the the vital importance of the outer gate. If you’re not an experienced defender you gate might be broken very quickly, and once the first gate is down it’s just downhill from there.

Maybe I’m a bit late to the party, but here are my impressions:
I think that dragon looks a lot like the Shatterer looking at its wing
And I somehow associated that forrest with the Echovald forrest because of it being kinda green, but there indeed was some white fluff falling from the sky

I personally liked episode 3 a lot! It was a lot of fun to have new context given for some of the old events and I felt that actually running from place to place instead of WP:ing improved my immersion significantly :)

The implementation was a bit shaky though, it felt very out of place to be praised for completing events that just happened to be done once you arrived :/

The nice thing about PvE now, is that you get instant to hearts of mists, buy your salvage and gathering kits and can instant back to the gathering node or wherever your at in PvE…

Sure be nice to have bltc and banker there too. No reason to goto lions arch then. Since Hearts of Mists is turned into super friendly PvE zone that you can goto at any time.

I’m sure the developers didn’t want the PvP’ers to have there own little friendly place they can call home, without a bunch of afk PvE’ers sitting in Hearts of Mist while they use the bathroom than poof back to where they were in the game.

That does sound a bit like an issue, but we still really need a bank in HOTM :P

I’m not completely certain about the definition of a team based game, but I think that is what it pretty much is O.o A huge part of the PvP is the aspect of cooperation, instead of changing that maybe proposing duels of free-for-all game modes would be appropriate?

Separating it in two parts make Headshot redundant considering it does the samething for the first skill.

I always found Pistol Whip to be the comparable version of Blurred Frenzy for Mesmers, Hundred Blades for Warriors, which is that one skill that stills you in place while dealing lots of damage. I don’t see this skill getting changed into 2 parts.

Separating it into two parts wouldn’t make it more redundant than it already is, would it? And it’s not really redundant as headshot is ranged :) Furthermore, I guess it is comparable to those skills, but that’s no reason why it couldn’t be improved :D

More than anything, sPvP needs to be fun, even if you’re not winning.

In all other MMOs fun can be found and had, even in lost matches.

In GW2 winning isn’t that much fun in the first place, but losing is just down-right frustrating with the snowballing that happens after the first mid-fight is lost.

I actually think that GW2 has the most fun PvP out of all MMOs I’ve played, though maybe you are more experienced than me :P

I mostly play thief in PvP, but I’ve found pistol whip to be rather monotone to use as you are stuck in the same spot all the time. Would it be more engaging if you could move around while using it, not necessarily at the same speed as normal running speed, but at least something that could allow you to get one extra hit before the enemy runs away or maybe get out of that AoE in the last second. This would probably require a damage nerf to be balanced, but I think it would make S/P thief a lot more fun.

How does the respawn timer work? I remember when you always used to respawn at :18, :38 and :58, but it’s not that way anymore, though the interval seems to be the same. Does it depend om map or is it random? Anyone knows?

I’d like to say one thing though: in game depth should be there while everyone is still standing. Not after a battle is already done.

The battle isn’t over just because everyone isn’t standing, often it’s indeed very far from over.

And if you are downed there is a way to take your life: just don’t heal yourself. Sure, that might take some time but it’s usually not that long and I don’t see anyone complaining about respawn times anyway

I mentioned this in another thread about the same thing, Arah boxes though. I would like to see no chest awarded, weapon or armor, just give the average cost of a piece of gear, about 300, tokens from tht dungeon. Let us buy what we want. That would be 1440 for the full path, including the 4 points you get 60 tokens.

That would probably be slightly too high of an reward

The cycling system would mean a disadvantage for the team with 5 players, both making it more boring for them if they die (possibly leading to people gambling their team’s fate in order to survive as long as possible) and more difficult for their players to learn how the enemy team works as they aren’t allowed to play as much. It’s quite easy to see the difference between a veteran PvP:er and a newbie: both rank and skill show the difference, though the problem still remains for rank 80s as everyone from 55 and above got that rank. Furthermore, I feel that PvP is very rewarding; sure, you can get more stuff from farming in PvE, but I really don’t think that PvP should be the best way of getting loot, especially the dungeon-related kind.
