It could be a bug, I’m not too sure about that.
Guesting on servers doesn’t work anymore, there is now something called “mesgaservers” which basically means that you aren’t with your server is open world PvE, but with random people from other servers.
To do guild missions with your guild, go to the area where your guild mission is, join a party with someone from your guild on the right megaserver, right click their and click “Join in X”
That will put you with your other guildies. Some call this “taxing”
Engineer boring? o.O
My engineer is probably the most fun class for me. Mass explosions, throwing turrets on walls, mortar trolling… oh and rocket boots <3
If I haven’t convinced you then necromancer, warriors are boring in PvE and Necromancers have things like minions and fearing off cliffs on eotm.
But I’m telling you, engis are the best.
If you have a shortage of available keys, look into a mouse with additional buttons. I use a Razer Naga with 14 buttons on the side as well as the right/left/scroll buttons.
I use the 1 through 12 side buttons for skills, the click on the mouse scroll button for dodge and then WASD for movement, leaving lots of other keys for miscellaneous other functions.
Edit: if you don’t wish to get another mouse, you can set the keys up so that they can be used twice. iirc you can’ use a key such as ~ to layer another use. For example skill one is key number one and skill six is ~1 where you hit ~ then 1 to use skill six. (This is likely not very clear. It’s not something I do, just something I read about but I can try to explain further if needed).
Yeah I’m not too sure what you mean, if you don’t mind could you explain it further?
I love my engineer, and honestly even though they are hard to play you can get away with spamming abilities in PvE. You can deal great damage by spamming abilities through each kit.
Oh so basically you’re not allowed to make it so it puts you in free camera and about face at the same time… -_-
I guess this just isn’t gonna work for me, I have a mac laptop so I already have nearly no keys to work with. I don’t even have anything to bind my 67890 skills to :/
Getting a crafting skill to 400 used to give 10 levels, now it gives only 7. Getting a skill from 400 to 500 gives 1 extra level, only some skills can go to 500.
This site is great for checking crafting prices: http://www.gw2crafts.net/
Just a caution. ANet forbids any keybinding where it’s more than one key, one action. They will terminate without warning any account they find doing this.
So you can’t use things like gaming mouses?
He probably saw it on a stream or a video.
Found an old thread in the thief forums, these were the instructions on how to withdraw with about face without the camera moving. I think this might be what you were looking for, i haven’t tested it yet.
1) Keybind ‘Free Camera’ and hold it
2) Keybind ‘About face’ and press it (no need to hold it down)
3) [Withdraw]
4) Release ‘Free Camera’
Looks like that it if only it were simpler :/
Does anyone know a way to make it so I only need to press 1 key? I can’t really get it to work because for some reason my game doesn’t let me do more than 2 actions at once, so if I’m holding my mouse button down, moving or using an ability I won’t be able to do it.
There is a “look behind” feature you can bind also (if that’s what the OP means). It rotates the camera 180 while held without effecting you current movement or targeting. Powerful option if you can add it to your keybinding scheme and use it effectively.
That wasn’t what I was looking for but I never knew you could do that, that’s awesome thanks!

I know about the “about face” thing, but the problem is that it also turns yours screen 180 degrees. Moving the mouse is the same thing I think… Unless you’re talking about something I’ve never done.
I’ve seen people turn around facing backwards instantly without having to move their screen, I was wondering if anyone knew how to do this.
This happens to me all the time, and when fighting a champ in a large zerg it’s EXTREMELY annoying since it’s such a pain to re-target the champion… having auto target on it the only way.
Yep I’m lagging too, 5 second delay on everything.
Sorry they should all be infiltrator. I know it’s not 100% zerker, but dealing more than double the amount of damage that I can do seems a little ridiculous.
I’ll try changing my runes, I was a little iffy when I bought them. The problem I have with bloodlust is you lose all the charges if you enter water, swap weapons, or leave the area. And I do all those a lot.
In my final build my crit damage is 221% and power is 2100.
So I was defending a camp on my engi, doing fine, and suddenly a thief comes up to me with a shortbow, hitting me for 1,700 with auto attacks and 4.5k with cluster bombs, I died in seconds. I had rapid gear so my toughness was really high.
Does anyone know how to deal this high damage? On my thief I hit 1k-1.2k with my bow auto attacks on mobs, and less on players. And my cluster bombs max at 2-3k. I have full zerker so I have no clue what that other thief that let him deal double that damage that I can.
The mac client crashes A LOT, just to let you know.
I wouldn’t use the word “ruin” but definitely screwed them up pretty badly. What makes me mad is if you log out and back in, you could be on a completely different mega server.
I’ve thought it was be but I guess it’s the game, I have bad lag too.
Tomb of knowledge will increase the level of your character by 1. I’m not too sure how much they are.
Crafting is a great way to get an easy 14 level, and it’s very cheap too.
Some achievement chests give small xp bonuses, but for the most part there isn’t anything like what wow has.
There are still champ trains, they’re just much smaller. Edge of the mists is pretty easy, but can get boring. Crafting gives amazing experience, cooking and artificing are very cheap and will give you a good 14 levels.
Also finding dungeon parties is easy, just go to your contacts list, and on the left side of the panel there is a tab that shows open dungeon parties.
Keep in mind if you use dungeons people may rage at you for not being 80.
I usually use http://www.gw2crafts.net/ for crafting guides, but I am using a crafting boost and this site does not have a way to factor that in (unless I’m blind)
Does anyone know a site that can factor that in?
Warriors are great, but they aren’t really fun in my opinion. I would recommend thief, I am having lot more fun with it. I just blew off my warrior and went to thief.
But it’s all about personal preference, some people may have a lot of fun with warriors.
Btw, 800 gems is about 100 gold now, so definitely chose that last slot wisely. It feels like yesterday that it was only like 50 o.O
Could your mailbox be full?
I’ve been having the same issue, and my mouse is notorious to have problems like this. I use a laptop so I can test to see if it works on my trackpad, and it does.
You are most likely having a double click problem with your mouse. When you click or hold down the button it will instead click multiple times. This is due to a brass piece under the button that has been pushed down so much that it has trouble registering if you are clicking.
You can find more about this on google, and there’s ways to fix it but it’s complicated. The best choice is to get a new mouse.
Do you mind if I ask what kind of mouse you have?
If you chose to make a new character know that the trait system is different now, https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/updates/Game-Update-Notes-April-15-2014/first#post3896049
You may want to work toward ascended weapons and armor, which are somewhat new. These can be obtained through crafted and fractals, and I think a small chance from champions too.
Season 2 of Living World has started, you may want to check that out.
Besides that not too much is different.
I noticed that too, it’s only like a second though.
Events are still not working after this update.
A little more info on the Ulgoth, an events seems to trigger every 60 minutesish saying “Time remaining to confront Ulgoth” a timer for 25 minutes is set, and once it runs out Ulgoth will just disappear. Blank dialogue lines come out of Ulgoth during the 25 minute period.
That is so untrue….I’ve bought plenty of Traits on my new (since Trait patch) character. You do need to be careful about what skills you unlock, but as long as you are clearing areas during level up, the skill points are there. Also, Tomes and Scrolls of knowledge aren’t exactly hard to get these days….
You get 75 skill points by level 80. That’s not even enough to unlock all your skills. Skill scrolls are very easy to get yes, but new players don’t really champion farm or know how to. Farming champions is ineffective at low levels anyway and gives crap xp.
Unlocking all traits costs 360 skill points. It’s unlikely you’ll unlock too many traits through gameplay, since most of them require killing higher level bosses. How are the 36 skill points you can get from JUST the starter zones not be usable by a low level? There are a total of over 200 skill challenges in the open world alone.
Also, a FULL LVL 80 build can only use 7 traits at one time. The average player likely uses less than 25 Traits 98% of the time (that’s less than half the available 65). You don’t NEED every trait unlocked by a long shot.
All you players exaggerating how HORRID the new Trait system is need to evaluate the REAL use of Traits by the average user, not just plop down gold and Skill Point numbers to obtain ALL traits and decry how unfair it is…..
You’ve pointed out a few things that make the trait system a problem. Do people want to go around the map farming skill challenges? Hell no, it’s beyond boring (not as bad as actually unlocking the traits though)
And yes, you can only use 7 traits at a time at level 80. What this means is players will have no incentive to unlock their other traits and try out new builds. I’m not sure where you’re getting less than 25 traits from. Before this update I at least tried out nearly all my traits, and used most of them in some build.
The fact is that when leveling a character you don’t want to run around farming skill points and getting trash experience. Grandmaster traits aren’t even usable until level 80.
If you enjoy the new system that’s great, but I can guarantee you that most new players and people leveling a new 80 will not have a fun time with traits.
Do you have another stacking sigil on the rifle? What kind of enemies are you killing? Have you swapped the weapon at all?
No news about traits means I won’t be buying gems. I didn’t buy TSW in the Steam sale because I was still holding out hope that ANET would fix this. I guess it was too much to ask for.
Anet doesn’t give two hoots about feedback.

With the new trait system you won’t be able to afford traits until you start skill point grinding at level 80. There isn’t a way to transfer skill points but if you have any scrolls they are account bound you can switch them over to your thief.
I forgot to say this before, but I noticed one of the things that has been happening with minions recently is they will stand in one spot (not even follow you) completely frozen. They won’t move or even turn for quite a while. This occasionally happens if you stop and start moving again or if you enter combat. Sometimes it happens with all the minions, other times just a few.
Apparently… this isn’t a bug…
I’ve heard that Anet does that so you can’t sell items too fast. Apparently they want it to take 10 minutes to sell an inventory.
Yeah this happens to me sometimes. Usually only if I’ve been logged in for a long time though.
The description says, “Double-click to gain a buff that increases your chance to gain bonus experience from crafting by 50% for one hour.”
Is this bonus xp to the crafting skill you’re training, or your actual xp?
It’s definitely gotten worse. The flesh golem almost never attacks, an the other melee minions sometimes don’t too. The ranged guys usually attack though.
How squishy are thieves compared to an engineer? I’m fine with the survivability my engi has.
Or maybe is it closer to an ele?
(edited by TheBandit.7031)
Guardians are great supports for big groups
Yeah I’ll be getting both, the question is which to get first (a lot of gems for extra char slots :/ so the second may be a while)
Thank you so much for the feedback
I’m eventually going for level 80 on each class, right now I’m not sure if I should go for a thief or warrior.
A little about what I like to do:
I roam in wvw a lot, sometimes zerg.
I PvE a lot, not much sPvP
I like mobility and having a little big of a supportive aspect.
I play at a medium level, not terrible but not very good.
Months? Years actually.
There’s probably more, but a few events are not starting. The group event “Defeat Ulgoth the Modniir and his minions” in Harathi Hinterlands does not start. In addition, the group event “Escort the Pact forces to the Temple of Melandru” in Orr also does not start. These are the only ones I know of but there may be more.
Please fix/restart these if possible, a lot of people are missing out on essentials without these events (traits/armor)
If he wants a challenge that’s one thing, but he said he wanted a fun class, and I don’t consider an ele to be that fun anymore.
I also find the elementalist to be a bit boring these days, so it wouldn’t be a very fun road to 80. That’s just my opinion on it though, others probably disagree.
(edited by TheBandit.7031)
Well the elementalist still can deal a lot of damage and makes a deadly glass cannon. Staff ele is still pretty fun in WvW as well and good in dungeons. I wouldn’t recommend it as a first level 80 though, or even a second.
My beautiful ride the lightning and all the cantrips just get nerfed more and more
If i was bored I always knew parkouring around with ride the lightning would keep me busy but now the cooldown is just too long >.>
Yeah I realized that after trying to guest on other servers and finding myself on the same broken map….
That event sequence is by far my favorite, I really wish they would fix it.
I have to disagree with what you said about the necromancer. Condition necromancers can be very good in PvE. They aren’t too great in dungeons, but they can still deal a lot of damage.
Also warriors aren’t that bad in PvP, they’re just a bit more difficult to use when compared to PvE (easy mode).
