GW2/LS feedback (post scarlet arc)

For those who said they hated living story to begin with;
Do you still dislike it?

Yes immensely. zerging and collecting garbage is not content.

Why? What changed/reaffirmed your opinions?

I left the game 6 months ago because of the way the living story was. 6 months later its exactly the same.

Do you consider yourself a Dungeoner/PvEr/FotMer/PvPer/WvWr/LivingWorlder/etc?

Dungeons and fractals are the only thing in the game really any fun and I blew those all out months ago

Where do you see the future of GW2?
I sincerely hope Anet realizes the way they have made the living story will continue to lose playerbase if they continue the same route. What they need to do in make content that small groups and gasp guilds!?!?! can strive to complete and actually have difficulty in doing so. Sadly I think anet is just going to make a new “southsun” zone and have mordremoth as its zerg boss.

Anet needs to learn the difference between ad hominems and urgent criticisms. The tone of the criticism has absolutely nothing to do with its validity.

I just don’t get this always stay positive philosophy anet has. For example if someone punches you in the face you don’t just go " oh please don’t do that again have a nice day" you tell the off or run. In reality every decision you make is going to have positive and negative consequences. Ignoring the problems is only going to fuel the fire.

I think it’s become pretty apparent at this point that “the living story” is nothing more than a minimum work/maximum profit model for the game. Unfortunately since AN income comes from micro transactions they have no incentive to make any REAL content as long as community drones keep buying gems.

Did AN promised to never add new gear tiers?

Anet has been jerking us around with half -/ assed temporary content for a year now and you are all complaining that something PERMANENT to work for is being added to the game. I don’t think this community has it’s priorities straight.

Ascended Gear to Kill Builds and Alts?

I am of the complete opposite opinion. If an MMO is so unengaging that you have to play an alt to keep entertained then you’re doing something fundamentally wrong as a designer. I think Anet is taking one step in the right direction with ascended. Now they just have to make PERMANENT CONTENT for the next step of gear to be used for.

Too Much Temporary Content Can Only Harm GW2

Minimum work? Really? I’d love to see your explanation as to how adding entire dungeons, PvP game modes, JPs, voice acted cutscenes, new items, and yes even RNG items and then taking the time to remove them 2 weeks later is minimum work. If anything it requires significantly more work to add then remove content than it requires to add and leave content.

I mean really, please enlighten me as to how releasing the Aetherblade Retreat or the Molten Facility (which everyone agrees were legit dungeons) or Mad King’s Clocktower and other JPs and then removing them is part of a minimum work maximum profit model?

Do you people even think before you speak anymore or do you really just dislike the game so much you will just say anything to make the point that GW2 sucks and the devs are wasting their time releasing new content?

I agree that certain aspects of the game could use improvements, but to say that bi-weekly content releases are minimum work is just plain ignorant and makes me sadfaced

When I say minimum I mean the required work compared to other models. A subscription model can only survive if your playerbase is interested in the game, an expansion model is heavily influenced by content and reviews, GW2 model is similar to TF2 in that all you need to do is add “skins” “hats” and as long as the game is free players keep buying into rng. That being said with the exception of jumping puzzles the temporary content has been pretty lackluster as compared to the main game.

Unfortunately they have no reason to stop with temporary content. It’s a minimum work maximum profit model fueled by people buying into rng. It keeps the gears turning and the cash flowing. If you really want to see a change then simply dont buy gems.

What do you think of temporary content?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I think temporary content is a blatant ploy to squeeze money out of people. Why ever make legitimate repeatable content when you can make time constrained RNG alleviated by the in game shop to make loads of money?

The game was fantastic until about a month or two after you hit 80. Then the only real things left to do is repeat the same dungeons or farm until you go mad in PvE, play that horrible zergfest joke for a PvP WvWvW, or play sPvP which is so fundamentally broken there is no point in playing certain classes. WoW hit the same kinds of dead ends IMO. GW1 handled content way better.

At least with Riot games they give straight answers to issues of the game showing facts and numbers unlike anet that says things like. “It’s something we’ve been talking about and it’s on a list and it will come out when it’s done.”

this thread needs more beating a dead horse pictures

Ill beat the horse until it turns to dust and then take a tray and beat the dust. This subject needs to be addressed by anet. Achievement leaderboards are absolutely meaningless otherwise.

Because sales totally determine the quality of the game. By this logic the garbage that is call of duty is one of the best games ever made.

Agreed. One time events are a complete waste of resources. Why spend so much time to make content that is later removed from the game. It makes 0 sense and makes nobody happy.

Not a great idea for such a young MMO

As a latecomer I was honestly baffled when my friends told me about Karka invasion and how it was a one time event. How on earth would you think that is a good idea in the first place and even CONTINUE to make more one time events as “content”. It reminds me of Square Enix’s attitude of “we don’t care if you dont want it, we’re gonna make it and you’re gonna like it”
