The fix for the Trahearne problem is simple, stop playing your personal story quests at level 50 when you are sent to Claw Island. In this manner, we avoid any stupid, needless deaths of likeable NPCs, we save our sanity by never hearing Trahearne’s cacophonic voice (assuming you didn’t roll Sylvari,) and you are actually left with a good taste in your mouth about your character’s accomplishments.
Don’t worry, you won’t miss anything over the next 30 levels. Zhaitan turns out to be a pansy. If you’re wanting some interesting story after this point, I suggest doing story mode dungeons instead of personal story quests—excluding Arah, if you want to completely avoid The Salad.

You might consider No Dice if you’re willing to guest/transfer http://www.ndgaming.org/Home/. We’re PvX and on Fort Aspenwood. We are a huge multigame community. We have a major presence in PS2, WoW, LoL, STO, War Z. We even have a community Minecraft server! We are a friendly, organized group that demands nothing more from you than a sense of humor and access to Mumble. 18+ and use of the guild forums are requested.
We very balanced in our approach to the game. We have extremely active and skilled dungeon runners as well as active farmers. So if you want help getting those last few Lodestones for your legendary, or having a group of friends willing to get you to that next level of Fractals, this is the guild for you. A fair word of warning, we have about zero presence in sPvP.
I lead nightly havok squads in WvW, and host a guild-wide WvW event on Wednesday night. I’ve lost track of how many people have commander tags, but we have three active WvW commanders, myself included.
We also are up top of the ball as far as Guild Missions go. We have been tearing up Bounties for a couple weeks and should have Trek in a few days.
Anyway, if you’re not adverse to transferring for an amazing guild, we may just be what you’re looking for. You can PM here for details, or my main in game at Lion Among Men.
Good Luck in your search!

Kudos to that asura mesmer from DICE I fought in the JP awhile ago. Good fight that kept me on my toes. Also thought the TC watching from their little shelf was cute. I think I may have seen Jayne in there too….
That’s awesome!
I’ll tell Glitchgear (the asura) that his amazingness is getting some love on the forum.

I would like to see Margonites, the demonic servants of the fallen (now dead) god Abaddon, again.

My favorite moment of my (that I can remember) story was during that Order Of Whispers mission in Beetleton. It was supposed to some super awesome stealth mission where you sneak in rescue some dude and not let anyone see you. I tried my kitten best to be a ninja, I even used all my Mesmer stealths and Blink, but somehow I ended up fighting every single mob in the entire mission.
Despite the fact that I finished the quest, I couldn’t help being depressed that I would never be a real ninja

Judging by your response, I don’t think you quite got that I wasn’t being completely serious.
Shiro was obviously extremely adept with weapons, thereby becoming the Emperor’s bodyguard. However (in my belief) the only reason he was AS powerful as he was during his first encounter (Harvest Ritual) was because he had been chosen/blessed/whatever by Abaddon to cause chaos in Cantha. The mere presence of supernatural powers before this encounter does much to discredit Shiro’s personal prowess.
The context of his second demise was much different. Shiro was an Envoy (i.e supernaturally powerful) prior using Togo to come back to life. I don’t particularly know if this power was retained after his reincarnation, but taking into account the kinds of skills his uses in the Imperial Sanctum mission, like banishing random people to an island, or floating in the air absorbing damage, I would say he was stilled fueled by external magical sources.
As for Gate of Madness, I have to assume since Abaddon adopted Shiro as one of his generals that he became more demonic than mortal.
Now, what does this have to do with anything? Shiro managed to get himself killed three times, as I already said. However, in each of these three contexts, he possessed divine (can an evil god be divine?) support from Abaddon and still managed to die. My point is, he may have been the best swordsman or whatever at some point, but the mere fact that he was imbued with so much dark magic, and was defeated on three different occasions taints his legacy in my mind.
Bearer of Tyrion’s Personal Banner, and[BOMB] GvG Officer
Ignoring the manner (mechanics) of Shiro’s demise(s), he did manage to get himself killed 3 times. First by Vizu/Archemorus/Victor (losers,) second by Mhenlo and Co. ( mostly losers,) and thirdly by Koss and Dunk and Co. (winners.) If, in fact, Shiro is supposed to be a great fighter, according to lore, this fact must be recalled in light of the fact he was an idiot that managed to die three times despite possessing superior powers than the motley band of heroes who eventually killed him.
In my mind, AI mechanics represent active lore, and should not be discredited.

The greatest Warriors in Tyrian are as follows:
Kilroy Stonekin, because he’s amazing http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Kilroy_Stonekin
Koss, because he killed a god and has an epic fro http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Koss
Little Thom, because of Hamstorm http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Hamstorm
However, should we include assassins and other such martial professions in our analysis, I believe you all would agree that one stands far above the rest.
Behold!
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Vael
VAEL, the deadliest and most mysterious combatant in Tyrian history. He is so great, in fact, that legend says that in order to gain his favor, heroes had to slaughter legions of barbaric Charr. Should they do this, and collect 250 of idols worshiped by the beasts, he would give the heroes a mask of ninjaness and let them join his club of amazingness.
Undoubtedly you agree with this selection, however, should some of you reprobates still insist that moron Shiro stands above the highly awesome Vael, I would remind you that no self-respecting warrior of any kind would allow this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpPR_28raac to happen.
What kind of idiot sits inside of 6 AoEs? He’s not even snared! He’s supposed to be an endgame boss, but he’s just standing there like a pansy. Placing this compelling piece of evidence aside, somehow this reputed “warrior” manages to get himself killed AGAIN in the afterlife http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnYeo2YY6DM in an equally shameful manner.
So in conclusion, Vael wins. haha

If ranged spears were implanted for the Guardian, you do realize that Anet would feel obligated to make all Guardians wear this:

Hello, fellow Fort Aspenwoodians!
No Dice (http://www.ndgaming.org/Home/) is looking to refill our ranks after making the switch from SBI a couple weeks ago and purging. We are a huge multigame community, we have a major presence in PS2, WoW, LoL, STO, War Z. We even have a community MInecraft server! We are a friendly, organized group that demands nothing more from you than a sense of humor and access to Mumble. 18+ and use of the guild forums are requested.
In GW2 we are a semi-hardcore band of 120 PvXers. We have extremely active Fractal runners, dungeons crawlers, farmers, and WvWers. Above all, we want to help of members have a good time. So if you don’t want help getting those last few Lodestones for your legendary, or having a group of friends willing to get you to that next level of Fractals, this isn’t the guild for you. I organize tPvP teams on the weekends, which I always have a pretty good turnout for. WvW is a priority for us and we’d like to augment our ranks.
Some random info: we have a guild raffle running all the time, which promotes groups of 3+ guildies. Even without this incentive, DICE members genuinely want to help each other out and have a very fun time doing it. We also have random PvE events such as Scavenger Hunts and Jumping Puzzle races. Lodestone farming is often done in conjunction with drinking games and we have a havok squad running most every night, even though it’s been a pretty brutal week against Blackgate. We have three WvW commanders, with more tags coming along soon.
So, if you’re looking for a group of players to actually play the game with, look no further! It doesn’t matter if you’ve played 24/7 since launch or you just downloaded the game this afternoon. We want you! Our main goal is to help our members enjoy their time spent in game.
You can PM me here or in game. My main’s name is Lion Among Men.
Have a good one!

Hello!
This seems as good a place as any to ask some questions, so I’ll go for it. I represent No Dice [DICE] a PvX guild, with strong emphasis on WvW. We’ve been SBI since launch, but we’re considering switching before the free xfers end on the 28th. Fort Aspenwood is one of the servers on our radar and I was just wondering if someone on this thread would mind answering a few questions I had about the WvW community.
Just some info on us. We are a 150+ guild, with some extremely competitive pvpers. We were one of the guilds that helped get SBI to tier 1 and stay there for as long as we did. Mostly, we’re looking for a stable, competitive server. We don’t want the top tier drama or queues. We’re looking for a friendly, competent, and mostly organized community.
Thanks in advance for your answers!

A warrior, with superior warrior powers.

^Jarvis is a cool name (mostly because I think that was the name of Tony Stark’s awesome computer in Iron Man,) Eterna kinda funked me out at first, but I suppose it’s unique and fits rather well in Tyria. The Boromir reference kinda tipped the scales in your favor because he’s awesome. So, without further ado, I give your name a 9/10.
Good show!
My main is a human warrior, born into Nobility and who is willing to do whatever must be done to protect those in his charge. He solves most of his problems with ferocity, because it’s the most efficient.
His name is Lion Among Men, which comes oddly off the tongue at first, but it was inspired by my favorite book, The Iliad, specifically by the quote “There Can Be No Pact Between Men And Lions.” This is said by Achilles to Hector, right before he kills him in vengeance for the death of his friend, Petroclus. A constant theme throughout the book contrasts the heroes (The Lions) with the men (everybody else.)
My warrior takes this mantra upon himself, to be that Lion Among Men, to be the beast that is willing to stem the tides of war, so that other may rest in peace.

This is may be taken badly by some of the people who actually want to progress in their Personal Story, but Steel Tide is one of the best places to farm for Rares. Just do that first objective (defending the place from the hordes of Zombies) again and again with full MF gear and cons, restarting after it’s over. You can make some pretty good money this way while you’re waiting for them to fix the spazzed out Tanks.
Who knows, The Fates may just be smiling on you, getting bugged out on a potentially profitable mission.

Try using your Pet, the NPCs, and any Summons you can get your hands on (such as the Human Racial, Hounds) as a meat shield, and whittle the Risen down as quickly as possible. Avoid NEEDLESS (things that don’t kill that fast) AOE unless you want to aggro more foes than you can handle. Keep in mind though, you often will aggro mid-size mobs, 4 or 5, so Tanking (or invuln, not sure if Ranger has) skills and some form of Swiftness. These will be essential when you get to the later part of the missions when you have to light the beacons. Also, bring some form of Condition removal and dodge effectively to avoid the AOE Poisons you’re going to have to deal with.
In the case where you have to Revive Mira, use your Pet and Summons to distract the foes while you rez, and consider using a Fear skill in conjunction with Tanking skills to give you more time while you ignore the Risen. Or just try to AOE them to death with Barrage and Traps. (For Ranger strategy, you may want to check out the profession Forum page. Those people actually know what Rangers can do)
This mission is VERY HARD when by one’s self, try to see if you can find someone else in Lion’s Arch or in your guild who needs to do it, or just wants a chance to slaughter all those zombies. I spent a very annoying three hours on this mission the first time I tried. I had to get my brother to help me do it, and even then, we got wiped twice.
By the way, what server are you in? I’d be willing to help you if the Fate’s are smiling on me, and you’re in Stormbluff Isle.
Anyway, hope that helps!

In Orr, Stability, Protection, and Swiftness will be your friends. Don’t bother fighting Mobs, if you can just run past them. I can’t remember if Ele has a Fear or not, but those are are very helpful for the Communing Skill Points, as is some sort of Stealth (again, not sure if Ele has) and some sort of Summoning skill (like the Elementals, or the Hounds from the Human Racial).
In those End-Game zones, you can pretty much assume there’s at least one other person in the zone with you, who needs Map Completion too. Just advertise yourself in as many places as possible (Guild chat, Map chat, Lion’s Arch, Forums) and you’ll eventually find someone.
Also, spend some time on your Profession’s Forum page to get some really good ideas for Traits specs and Gear ideas.
Hope that helps!

Following Commanders is not always a reliable way to do events. Like you said, sometimes you get caught up in a keep siege or a field battle against another zerg, and while these types of things are both fun and are a great help to your server, they are not a good way to gain exp because you’re not moving. Some commander actually take time to flip light objectives, the best way I’ve found for doing events quickly (mostly for my Dailies) is to join up with a Havok Squad (a small group of players, usually guildies) and go around flipping light points, like Sentries (the flags on the map) Dolyaks (the moving yak-like things on your map) and carefully going after Supply Camps. Try to avoid major battles and be very careful if you decide to sneak into enemy territory to take an objective. Once you’ve been at it for awhile, you can sorta gauge what a Commander might go after, and then decide whether or not that objective fits what you (personally) are trying to accomplish.
Hope that helps.
