Mystic forge and exotic runes/sigils

I agree with the soulbound major runes being account bound, but would prefer to have the superior runes non-forgeable.

Why is that? Right now there are a lot of “useless” sigils (the 26 charges invul/demon sigils some to mind).

Please allow exotic runes and sigils to be used in the mystic forge, such that 4 can be combined to produce another exotic rune or sigil. I don’t see why they aren’t able to be used.

Also, runes looted from dungeon chests need to be account bound, rather than soulbound.

I think these are two relatively minor suggestions which would have a fairly benefical impact on the game.

I think you guys are being a little vague with what you mean by PvE, since that is a pretty big category. Do you mean open world PvE? Dungeons? Exploration? I’d say the thief is pretty decent at open world PvE and exploration, but reaching an equal level of effectiveness in dungeons to other strong classes requires a lot more effort.

The return of vanquishing - dungeons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheKillerAngel.3596

TheKillerAngel.3596

OK, so something like:

You gain guild influence equal to 50 times the number of foes killed.

You gain silver equal to 5 times the number of foes defeated in the area.

You gain experience equal to (not sure how high this should be) times the number of foes killed.

There could perhaps be a bonus for killing champions.

The return of vanquishing - dungeons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheKillerAngel.3596

TheKillerAngel.3596

For those of you familiar with GW1, vanquishing meant killing every single enemy in an explorable zone. Many builds and strategies were designed for speed clearing particular zones, usually for gaining faction.

I feel like this might be an interesting addition to GW2 – applied to dungeons. If you went ahead and killed every veteran/champion in an entire dungeon (which, in a high level dungeon like Arah, is a LOT of work), you should get some interesting rewards for your efforts. The rewards should be unique enough to encourage people to try the challenge.

Should unpopular events give bonuses?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

TheKillerAngel.3596

People go for the easiest loot, period. So if you put more loot somewhere that’s better it will not longer be an unpopular event. This is what happened with the big world events. People didn’t camp them that much until they were guaranteed a gold. Suddenly there’s lag, there’s overflow servers, there’s all sorts of stuff.

If you buff the rewards on everything few people are doing, you’ll throw the entire economy out of whack with inflation. If you change where the big rewards are, people will just start doing the new stuff.

I agree with the OP in principle, but unfortunately human nature makes this very hard.

Each time an event is done the bonuses would diminish. So the most profitable way to do events would be to do tons of them all over the place.

Which gives another great idea. What if waypoint costs flucuated based off of use? So waypoints that never get used would be cheap and popular ones would be expensive. This would even work as a great indicator as to which areas DEs are likely to give the best rewards.

This is also a really great idea, with the waypoints scaling with price. I’m glad you mentioned it.

Here’s the idea I have in mind.

Each event should have some sort of counter that keeps track of the last time the event was finished successfully, if it was even attempted. The counter adds one stack to its reward multiplier over every 12 hour cycle from the last time it has been started and there were failed attempts, and adds two stacks if there were no attempts at all. Here is an example:

Formula for reward multiplier: 12 hour cycles since last successful event + ( cycles event has been unattended * 2) + (failed attempts/2). Rounds down and has a maximum of 50.

Krait Witch event: The event begins and there is 1 failed attempt to complete it in a 24 hour period.

1 + ( 1 * 2) + (1/2) = 3.5

This event gains 3 stacks to its reward multiplier.

Temple of Balthazar: The event chain begins and there are 6 failed attempts to retake the temple over a 72 hour period.

6 + ( 0 * 2) + (6/2) = 9

This event gains 9 stacks to its reward multiplier.

Temple of Dwayna: The event chain has not been attempted in a one week period.

14 + ( 14 * 2) + (0/2) = 42

This event gains 42 stacks to its reward multiplier.

For each stack, a specific formula calculates the XP/Karma/Silver gains. I haven’t determined it yet but they should be in accordance to the following:

XP: Logistic. Should award ~200k XP max at level 80 with the highest possible multiplier. If not level 80, event should give around 75-80% of a level at max multiplier.

Karma: Quadratic. Rewards increase more the longer the event is not attempted. Should give ~4500 max for an event with the highest multiplier.

Silver: Quadratic. Rewards increase more the longer the event is not attempted. Should give ~50s max for an event with the highest multiplier.

Ive asked about transmuting order equipment and moving it to different character (with white items) from support few weeks ago and this is the answer i got.

The issue you reported with being able to transmute Basic items and bypass soulbound restrictions is not the intended design of transmutation. Our Quality Assurance team has already been notified of the issues with this and are working to get this resolved as soon as possible.

In the past, there was a similar issue with Order of the Whispers skins that were acquired by players who were not a part of the Order of Whispers. When the issue was resolved, all items that had these skins applied on characters that should not be able to receive them were wiped and the skins were lost. Any items that are currently benefiting from this issue will likely see a similar resolution with the unintended skin being removed from the character and unrecoverable. Taking part in this issue would see the risk of losing your items.

So i would personally be cautious while doing this. Its confirmed that you wont get banned from doing it, but your item might get removed if you do this.

If they have half a brain they would not do such a thing and if they were actually smart they would add a vendor after you become pact commander, that allows you to purchase order gear from the other orders. Unfortunately, the devs judgment is sometimes… lacking.. to say the least.

I think the term for it is “nerfing fun.”

Thoughts? Like extra XP/karma/silver, possibly other things? I think this might encourage people to go out more and venture in places that don’t get much traffic. I’m not entirely sure how it would be implemented, but it’s sort of like the opposite of diminishing returns on an event – the less participation one gets, the higher its rewards might be.

What class would you pick in real life?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheKillerAngel.3596

TheKillerAngel.3596

Warriors already exist, though they would use guns in our time.

Guardians, similar to Warriors, would use guns in our time.

Necros would be jailed / killed as it would be highly illegal.

Rangers essentially already exist.

Engineers essentially already exist.

Thieves essentially already exist.

All classes in real life can heal since we have antibiotics.

That leaves the Mesmer and Elementalist. Both use magic that doesn’t exist here, so I would think they would be the two best choices.

I’d go with Elementalist since we could generate our own electricity, start our own fires for heat / cooking, use the water to never be thirsty, and manipulate the earth to landscape.

You’re definitely right about some things, but the sort of healing Guardians can do is pretty much magic. Plus, I don’t think people can turn invisible like Thieves can.

Nevertheless, the thought of raising dead stuff (i.e. necro) is certainly thrilling.

- Open World Exploration, Dynamic Events, and Dungeons are considered popular PvE components
- Dungeons, however, may be somewhat polarizing, as they also rank among the top 3 most disliked PvE components, along with the Personal Story and Crafting/Trading.

If you add any new dyes after that, you’ll have to sync them again if you want them to be available to your account without having to buy the additional dyes.

Bombardment target marker - consumable item

Posted by: TheKillerAngel.3596

TheKillerAngel.3596

It makes no sense for it to be a rifle because a target marker means a targeting beacon for an artillery strike. You have to understand the item in the context of the NPC that gives it and the event the NPC is involved in. It makes no sense for Tactician Lystratia to offer a markedly different item than the one she gives in the Champion Risen Giant event.

What if the one she gives in the Champion Risen Giant Event is the wrong one? To me it feels wrong to have a grenade-marker O_o

Have you even done the event before?

Dunno, can’t remember many specific events to be honest. Maybe, maybe not. Exactly where does it happen?

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Use_the_Pact_weapons_to_kill_the_Risen_giant_guarding_the_area_near_the_temple_of_Balthazar

It is a DE in the straits of devastation, shown in the circled area. If you speak to Tactician Lystratia while the Giant is alive, she asks you to take a grenade kit that has access to some extremely powerful abilities – in addition to grenades you can call down ballista and artillery strikes. When the giant is dead, she converts to a merchant that sells a “bombardment target marker” which has a bomb icon. When you consume this “bombardment target marker,” you gain a standard rifle consumable – the kind that pushes you back and is discarded after 1 use.

Elite skills feel too much like ultimates

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

TheKillerAngel.3596

Anyone else agree?

In GW1 there was a lot of variety in elite skills. Some were especially powerful attacks, others were very handy utility skills. Most had cooldowns below 20 seconds. I think it might be a good idea to add more elite skills that follow these lines. I am sure more skills will be added later – no doubt about that, but I don’t want all of them to be “ultimate” abilities that operate on 3 minute cooldowns. These skills are often very situational and often tend to be used in “oh crap” moments as opposed to being regular parts of a build (with a few exceptions).

How about skipping level 1-30?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TheKillerAngel.3596

TheKillerAngel.3596

A better idea might be the ability to transfer XP from one character to another. There are lots of ways of doing this, but one might be equipping a special item that when activated, “absorbs” any experienced gained. This item can then be transferred and consumed to gain the amount of stored XP.

This is a “feature” in a LOT of Pay-to-win MMOs and it only imbalances the game because then paying players can “instantly” level a character from 1-80.

I highly suggest Anet NEVER introduces Exp Orbs or anything similar or equivalent.

Define imbalance. Convenience =/= imbalance.

So what if you can instantly level a character to 80 by transferring XP? If you can’t play the class you won’t be able to do squat with it. When you use the term “pay to win” that generally implies the player’s strength is heavily based around things that can be bought. Seeing that PVP occurs either in SPVP (preset level and equipment) or WvW (you get upscaled) being able to quickly level to 80 (which can already be done via crafting, just less conveniently) doesn’t negatively affect balance.

An agricultural profession

in Suggestions

Posted by: TheKillerAngel.3596

TheKillerAngel.3596

I see 2 potential problems here .

1) instead of using Karma people will just grow the product .

2) Higher end crops will likely be mass produced

If people would prefer to use their time to grow the product as opposed to their karma, I don’t see a problem with that. Time is money. If you want speed and want something immediately, use karma. If you are leveling up cooking, it makes more sense to buy from merchants as opposed to spending a week or more leveling up farming. If you’d rather save your karma, you can of course, take your time to level up agriculture along with spending money.

As for higher end crops being mass produced – yes, their quantities will probably increase, but I don’t think that should be a bad thing for most people. Higher end commodities will require more time to cultivate (a week of constant growing/watering/fertilizing as opposed to an hour or day), so only dedicated people would invest into them. In addition, higher end commodities provide consumables that are widely demanded by people. Cheaper food/dyes/whatever is better for everybody.

An agricultural profession

Only problem with this is, if people can grow their own omnomberries, there’s going to be a huge supply of them, making them cheap on the TP. Now if someone wants omnoms they just buy them instead of going to orr to find them instead in case they want to save some money; thus reducing the population in that zone. I’m all for a farming mechanic, but not for rare things you can only get from 1-2 zones.

However, there are a number of cooking mats you can only get from karma vendors and the cooking vendor. Having a mechanic that will allow you to grow these yourself without having to find the right vendor would be nice.

I suppose there are several mechanics to encourage one to still go out and gather. For one, cultivation of high-end materials would require more time, care, and impout (e.g. you need to watch over them for a week as opposed to a few days, with regular water/nutrients etc) so only more dedicated players will seriously consider cultivating stuff like omnomberries. Additionally, gathering omnomberries could grant more things than just the berries – you could get rare seeds/cultivars that produce higher yields or other bonuses (e.g. chance to harvest a dye when you collect your produce) and are account bound after first use.

An agricultural profession

Given that GW2 is taking place in a world where there is mass cultivation of produce and livestock, it doesn’t make much sense to me that we still have to go out and gather stuff like Vanilla Beans and Omnomberries. You’d think that some entrepreneurial fellow would realize he could make a killing by producing and selling a lot of these high demand commodities.

How would you feel if there were some sort of agricultural profession, wherein you could get seeds from various produce and plot them? Over time these would mature and you could sell them off.

The basic idea is like this: You must first obtain the seed for whatever it is you want to grow. Once you have that, you can access an agricultural console. It looks like a grid, basically like your bank. You can expand how much arable land you own, as you level up your profession, or by purchasing more land. You level up your profession by planting progressively higher level crops or such. You can place the seed you wish to plant in each grid slot. Some players may opt for mass production of 1 good, others may choose to grow multiple things.

On leveling up: You can plant a certain number of crops with a certain number of seed. If you want to plant more crops, you need more seed. The ratio of seed to crops varies, but is is generally around 1 seed to 5 crops. Once you plant your seed, you have to wait a certain amount of time for it to mature before you collect your XP (and grown produce). This takes a couple of days, in which you have to maintain your crops in the interim or they will fail (water, etc). Fertilizer can increase the speed at which your crops grow, along with the ratio of produce they yield.

It’s a basic sketch of an idea, a thought experiment mostly intended to try and reconcile realism (widespread cultivation vs gathering) within the game.

How about skipping level 1-30?

A better idea might be the ability to transfer XP from one character to another. There are lots of ways of doing this, but one might be equipping a special item that when activated, “absorbs” any experienced gained. This item can then be transferred and consumed to gain the amount of stored XP.

PvE Conquest armor?

They need to get the Conquest helm implemented.

Helm is in the NW section of Forst Gorge via a heart vendor.

The whole set is scattered through that map.

The helm is not there. In fact, according to the wiki, it’s not in the game.

[Survey] Are you a PvE or PvP player?

I haven’t read this thread’s comments, so I don’t know if this has been mentioned, but I would expect that a thread placed in this form would have significantly more pve’ers respond than pvp’ers. Yes pvp’ers read this forum, but those who exclusively or primarily pvp are probably less likely, imo, to read this forum than those who primarily pve.

It would be interesting to see what a similar poll placed in the WvW forum would have in terms of results. But I’m too lazy to do that. lol

It’s in the “Guild Wars 2 Discussion” forum. That’s as generalized and unbiased as it’s going to get. Putting it in the WvW forum ensures that respondents already have an interest in PvP. Placing it here ensure respondents have an interest in Guild Wars 2.

That’s a very good way of putting it. Perhaps PvE discussion dominates here simply because more players are involved in PvE (as the data would show)?

You asking this in the general forums which is almost exclusively PvE talk. If you asked this in the WvW forums and SPvP forums, you would clearly get opposite results. This is definitely biased.

You could do me a favor by posting it there. Also, this survey is on reddit on gw2g.
