Any information on boss stats?

I am curious if anyone has information on boss numbers, specifically things like their health pool, weapon power, crit rate, crit damage, etc. Is it possible to extract this data from the game application, or has anyone made attempts at figuring these things out?

It’s nothing like that. When the map has low morale, you have no boosts. That’s it. As you gain more map control, you gain more boosts.

My only concern with this theory, would be how to deal with the less populated maps? Should players be penalized with the lack of boosts because the map doesn’t get the amount of traffic another one gets? Just food for thought.

In theory, less populated maps would become more populated with this, as people would enter more areas to get medals. I added something at the end of the original post.

This sort of feels like I stepped back into Factions. ‘x’ npc won’t talk to you because you hold more ‘y’ faction than ‘x’ faction. Not sure how I feel about that. Always annoyed me when my side was losing….

It’s nothing like that. When the map has low morale, you have no boosts. That’s it. As you gain more map control, you gain more boosts. The idea is to encourage people to:

1. Bring events to completion rather than deliberately fail them.
2. Complete events in different parts of the map
3. Open and defend dungeons so that constantly having to guest to other servers where dungeons are open is less common. Opening dungeons is a serious collective action problem right now.

TL;DR: This post has an idea to encourage event completion and open world exploration by introducing a % based map control mechanic.

Each zone needs to have some sort of morale or control rating to indicate the respective factions’ control of the map. Krytan zones could have a “Seraph Control Index,” Orrian zones could have a “Pact Control Index,” Ascalonian zones could have a “Legion Control Index.” These ratings can vary from 0 to 100%, depending on the share of contested waypoints that are opened or closed and the number of events that succeed or fail in the area.

When this rating increases, various bonuses are granted to all players in the map. These bonuses, or “morale boosts,” include buffs to attack damage, armor, HP, gold find, karma, experience, and magic find. When this rating reaches 100%, the strength of these buffs increases significantly.

Various factors cause this rating to increase.
- Completing events
- Successfully defending a contested waypoint
- Opening a contested waypoint
- Opening a dungeon

Various factors cause this rating to decrease:
- Failing events
- Failing to defend a contested waypoint
- Failing to defend a dungeon

These factors are weighted differently. Successfully completing a random event may add +1 points to this rating. If you open up or defend a contested dungeon, this may add +20 points to the rating because it is much more significant. On the other end, failing an event causes -1 points to the rating, and failing important event chains may incur an even larger penalty.

Repeating the same event over and over will not be able to give a 100% morale boost as long as waypoints and other areas are in control of the enemy. In addition to these morale boosts, there are further encouragements for players to constantly attack areas held by the enemy or defend areas under attack. Certain events (typically ones involved in capturing or defending waypoints) reward medals that can be redeemed for karma, skill points, rare materials (T6 and lodestones), and special armors/weapons. The number of medals that is awarded varies depending on the difficulty of the event. In addition, bringing a zone to 100% control awards the player a certain number of medals, which can be gained daily for each zone.

Still Deadeye farm?- Bad move Anet

in Queen's Jubilee

Posted by: TheKillerAngel.3596

TheKillerAngel.3596

for every 150 tickets you use in this “farm” you can only afford to die once or twice to make a decent profit. die more and your profit will go down to 2g an hour, and if you die more it will cost you.

Since there is so much to go wrong in this fight, only a few skilled can actually pull off a decent profit.

Srsly, how many ppl do you see that can pull that off? your 1kgold kitten is a lie or extremely rare.

Huh? Let’s run through the math again. Dying with let’s say 4 gambits active costs exactly 20 silver in tickets (repair costs are too low to take into consideration). Gross income from one successful round will be 50s. Profit will be 30s.

So you can actually die in every other encounter and still profit! So even if a person dies ten times in one hour, that’s a loss of exactly 2g resulting in a net profit of around 16-18g an hour.

Dying is too cheap compared to the rewards here. I know…I’ve been doing this a long time.

Consider the time it takes to run back and find a clear arena.

Big surprise, sword/warhorn + zerker armor with scholar runes. All you have to do is warhorn 5 / Rampage before you go in, use warhorn 4, signet of wild as you walk in, signet of stone when you take 50% health damage, then proceed to kill.

A few of these traits could probably be switched around (protection on 10%, might on signet) but this works.

Basics: 0/20/20/0/30, PVT armor/w melandru runes, Zerk everything else. Dual maces + GS.

The build should look familiar to people who PvP a lot because it’s essentially a modified Axe+Shield/GS stun warrior. The difference is that it uses mace offhand, chiefly because the 1200 range stun is more useful in this fight (and has a shorter cooldown than the shield stun). Weapon sigils are optional, though Paralyzation/10% damage on stunned foes is best for this particular build (it is probably not necessary to switch sigils on your weapons if they are already DPS oriented). I use Melandru runes but if you don’t have those you could probably take lemongrass soup to reduce cripple duration.

Signet of Fury is on my bar if I need an immediate 30 adrenaline for the mace F1 stun, though I did not use it in this fight. It could probably be replaced with shake it off or balanced stance/dolyak if you want a stunbreaker.

For this fight, you will to use your Mace 5, Mace 3, and Bull’s Charge to deny Chomper the first 3 meats (which you will eat). After this, you should be powerful enough to kill him in 1 Skull crack + 100b/frenzy rotation. Finishing off Strugar is easy afterwards.

HOW TO: Get 5 gamkitteneevo as a Warrior

in Queen's Jubilee

Posted by: TheKillerAngel.3596

TheKillerAngel.3596

Only thing I can’t see is the food. Which are you using?

Somehow you seem to be doing a buttload more damage than me in there, though I have the exo zerker armor with ruby orbs, the ascended zerker trinkets, and exo zerk weapons. I can’t figure out why I am seeing such a difference in damage output at the moment.

Edit: Also I can’t see the weapon sigils!

Edit 2: More questions! How important do you think the cripple is from GS4? It takes a while to activate and subject 7 doesn’t move too much.

I used a Sigil of Fire on my GS and Battle/Force on my axe/mace (battle is a wasted sigil in this setup since the cooldown conflicts with fire, so pick something else). Food was a 80% precision/8% crit damage butternut squash soup and a T5 sharpening stone. As long as your food adds power, precision, or crit damage it’s not that important.

The cripple from GS4 isn’t important for the ooze, but it adds a minor amount of damage before you go in. It does cripple and slow down the quaggan, though.

HOW TO: Get 5 gamkitteneevo as a Warrior

in Queen's Jubilee

Posted by: TheKillerAngel.3596

TheKillerAngel.3596

In case you haven’t heard, “cheevo” is slang for achievement.

This isn’t really much different from the old method used to farm Subject 7, but since some people have been wondering how to get their achievement, this is how it’s done.

Gear: Berserker’s weapons/trinkets/armor with either ruby orbs or scholar runes. In this case, ruby orbs might be better since you will rapidly take damage below 90% of your health, but if you’re like me you’ll take scholar runes anyway if you use your warrior a lot for other PvE.

A frequent complaint is that the compensation is poor and below industry standards (“Keeps employees as Temporary Full Time with extremely low starting salaries ($28k-$33k). No benefits or overtime pay for many employees for multiple years.”)

Well again for some perspective, the best a company can generally manage on Glassdoor is a very low 4 out of 5 (with exception to the perfect 5’s based on one review).

Anet has a 3.1 based on 12 reviews. Walmart has a 2.9 based on over 4,000 reviews. Though I do admit it’s an interesting perspective to have.

Have to wonder about the employee who’s upset that pets aren’t allowed at the company.

Are they a ranger dev by chance? :B

What you guys fail to realize is ANET is fully of aware of what goes on and off the forums..even if not they can monitor players (while invisible) doing the gauntlet. They know what they are doing , they steering the ship you just sit back and enjoy the ride and stop yelling obscenities about what you have no idea about (exploitation).

Yeah, and the snowflake exploit wasn’t an exploit either.

Hyper inflation due to being ‘forced to farm because it’s so profitable halp me i cant stop’ isn’t going to destroy the economy or be looked at as a malicious attempt to that end.

Neeeevaaaar.

Just in case, I better go pick up some popcorn.

To get an idea of “good” gaming companies to work for, Riot Games and Valve consistently get good reviews on the site (not many reviews for Valve, but employee turnover there is very low). ArenaNet is about average for larger-sized companies in the video game business.

this is the method im using http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xi5xrJAzCFs and lets be honest, it doesn’t require any skill( thats not my video btw, i actually kill it alot faster)

That method works but the rotation is cringe worthy. If he got unlucky with the crits he would be S.O.L. because Deadeye would still be alive and would port across the map. One would be better off starting with Asurge to get 15% damage from Berserker’s power, then frenzy/100b/whirlwind, use endure pain when you hit less than 50% health to activate desperate power, then switch to axe/mace, mace 5/axe2/mace 4/eviscerate.

TheKillerAngel.3596

I happen to believe skill should be rewarded. A lot of people characterize this as a faceroll way to make money, but the truth is that if your rotations are off by half a second or more you will end up dead or near dead.

not even remotely true buddy. I was the one who made the subject 7 video, you could have done it comfortably if you did everything I mentioned. The only time I would fail is I do something lazy and die or the arena bugged. In the case of subject 7, you could get off an eviscerate at the end and always finish (or even use a different dps rotation that killed S7 so you didn’t need the second endure pain proc).

In the case of deadeye, he is even easier. There is nothing skillful about reflects. With the guardian all you do is port to him, reflect, dps and if your dps isn’t high enough as in the guard videos shown, you can use sword #2 to port again and #3 or auto attack to finish him off. Your rotations can be off completely and still do it comfortably. ALSO- if you somehow completely messed up your rotation and deadeye is not blinded during his killshot, you can use your elite skill to become invulnerable and then continue with your dps.If you were doing them properly you wouldn’t be saying that.

I’m also not even mentioning the other classes that can do this with consistency and speed.

Edit: Actually, I will. Thieves can 5 gambit with the additional quaggan boss. All you do is scorpion wire deadeye and its a simple 1v1 and you just dps him. This run has very little downtime.

I would agree more with the fact that it depends on gear, not skill. Having ascended gear makes your run go faster or you may crit more often. You can even do these runs with sigil stacks (like bloodlust). But noooo, clearly 20g/hr is intended for ‘skilled’ players.

For players like you and me, things like when to use reflects or how to optimize skill rotations are second nature. However, you must remember that the vast majority of the GW2 playerbase really doesn’t know that much about game mechanics or care about min/maxing their playstyle. I have seen SO many players (read: the majority) faceplant when attempting to fight either Subject 7 or Deadeye on classes that should be “easy.”

You are right about gear – gauntlet farming, unlike running dungeons, has very specific requirements that must be met in order to be passable. You can run CoF 1 in whatever the hell gear you want – the only thing that will change is the time it takes to complete the dungeon. You cannot gauntlet farm using whatever build or gear you want. A full PTV warrior is going to be incapable of dealing the burst damage necessary to kill Subject 7 or Deadeye. To gauntlet farm effectively, there are minimum gear and requirements that many players don’t meet.

I farm Deadeye on my thief, and can do 2 5-gambits in one minute. If you do everything right, it goes very smoothly, but if your timing is off by a second you’ll probably end up dead because he hits you anywhere from 4k to 9k with the frailty gambit. You have to time your blinds right and you can’t spam black powder relentlessly or you won’t have the DPS to kill him before he ports to the other side of the map. You also have to be careful about how often you use HS (if at all) because this will sometimes draw the aggro of the Quaggan.

If that’s the case, ArenaNet could consider dragging more of NCSoft’s Korean artists stateside. As a general difference between the aesthetics of Western vs. Eastern MMOs, Asian artists often go for a more refined look for armors and emphasize style over function.

Commentary on the thread:

One of the things about contemporary feminism is that it has no set ideological platform or rigidity. Much of the emphasis, especially with the third wave movement, is that women have different preferences and should be able to pursue these however they like.

This has interesting ramifications, where in the past several years a greater dialogue on sexism in entertainment has emerged. There are several camps (and I generalize here): people who believe that men and women should be represented realistically, and people who favor a more stylized approach that does not always reflect realism. Notice how I said people: there are both men and women who fall into these, and I’ll focus on the latter. Just as there are women who decry sexist and unrealistic portrayals of women in video games, there are women who enjoy dressing up their characters in MMO’s in ways that aren’t always “realistic.”

This brings us to an interesting conflict: You can have two feminists with starkly contrasting opinions on the matter. One feminist can support the OP because she believes maximizing choice means more agency and freedom for her as a woman. Another feminist can disagree with the OP, arguing that women in heels is sexist, unrealistic, and has no place in this type of entertainment.

What I really think is important for us is to recognize that agreeing with the OP isn’t necessarily “stupid” or “sexist” or “anti-feminist.” If she as a woman prefers more “elegant” armor in combat, even if it’s less realistic, then that’s just her choice.

One of the things in the game that I find slightly irritating is the camera’s tendency to ride up against any obstructions, causing a very close zoom in. It would be nice if players could enable/disable the ability of the camera to “clip” through objects. I recognize this might cause some issues in some parts of the map and WvW (this can be dealt with separately), but I believe that the ability to situationally use this would help a lot of frustrations with certain jumping puzzles and other activities that place the user in a very tight space.

People need to not use the word exploit for everything. An exploit is not a general term for everything that might be nerfed in the future.

Did you all find some mechanism that prevents you from dying? Like are you glitching under the world? If so, that would be an exploit.

Are you fighting and winning? Using normal game mechanics? That isn’t an exploit.

Well, what ArenaNet would be best off doing is hiring additional gameplay designers to focus on each of GW2’s areas Currently the balance team is stuck balancing around PvP while the content team is mostly producing PvE oriented stuff.

However, I don’t think they will fork over several hundred thousand more dollars to hire more gameplay designers.

No, you’re not. What would be nice are indications that certain enemies have unblockable attacks.

beating subject 7 now has a negative reward

I just tried killing Dunwell and he just gave a bound bag that only had like 9s and 4 sprockets. It costs 1 ticket to do, which costs 4s + 3 sprockets. You get 5s and some extra sprockets each time.

30 sec completion time: 6g/hr
60 sec completion time: 3g/hr

Do gambits make it more worth it?

Yes, gambits do, because it reduces the time it takes to earn the rewards. If you want to run gambits you will have to use builds made to counteract the bosses’ strengths.

Here's a fairer solution to gauntlet rewards

in Queen's Jubilee

Evidently, with the massive nerf in Subject 7’s reward (to the point where you end up losing money if you fight him), ArenaNet has made a statement: it is not OK to repeatedly farm certain enemies in Queen’s Gauntlet for gold. We can argue about this all we want (I for one disagree) but what’s likely to happen next is that many of the champions will have their rewards drastically cut because the fact is, most of them can be steamrolled by well-executed burst specs.

I’m not too thrilled with this happening, but if it’s going to happen, we can discuss a few things to prevent situations like this from emerging again in the future.

First, instead of having rewards flat across a single tier, it should vary within each tier. Fighting a high Tier 3 enemy should give better rewards than a low Tier 3 enemy. That Subject 7 was initially giving the same rewards as Liadri is just borked. Additionally, certain gambits should yield higher (or lower) rewards depending on the enemy you fight. The lack of ability to dodge, for instance, is a severe handicap in the Liadri fight, and if you can pull that off with this gambit on you deserve a very hefty reward.

Here’s an example of this idea in practice:

Each set of 5 tickets costs 20s. Ignoring the sprockets, this means each fight “costs” 4s. For a fight or gambit to be profitable, it always needs to reward more than 4s. A fight cannot pay 4s or less per ticket spent or else it is broken.

I can choose to fight Subject 7 with no gambits active. I get 10s if I beat it.
I can choose to fight Deadeye with no gambits active. I get 15s if I beat him.
I can choose to fight Liadri with no gambits active. I get 1g if I beat her.

If I choose to fight Subject 7 with the Hamstring gambit active, I get +6s (mobility is not that important in this fight, so the reward is not that big). If I add the burning gambit, that is still only 6s because the damage from the gambit itself is not that huge. If I choose to fight Subject 7 with Squeamish active, I get +15s (Squeamish removes your ability to burst it down, which is huge). If I beat Subject 7 with Squeamish AND frailty, I get +30s.

If I choose to fight Liadri with Cripple, Exhaustion, Squeamish, and Frailty, I get 1.5g for each gambit in addition to her 1g base reward.

Given the complexities of this system, I do not expect any of it to be implemented in this release, but the ideas outlined here hopefully serve as a guideline for future content design.

after wining this fight you end up with less sprocket and silver, than what it costs to buy them from the shop,

So basically the a net guy who thought about giving 30 silver every 60 seconds (which was an insanely high rate) now was told to put an insanely low rate.

Anet please when you fix something “balance” it don´t just toss random numbers

i did 100 gold farming subject 7 yesterday and today i just started farming Deadeye Dunwell which is actually even faster than subject 7?

lets see if Anet come with better nerf numbers tomorrow for this guy

The hilarious part is that killing the lower tier enemies gives a higher payout.

The really hilarious thing is that the T2 champions will soon be awarding more silver than the T3 champs if they keep nerfing this.

Nerfed Subject 7 drops...

I don’t really understand why repeating the same challenge should give extra loot at all – it’s just begging to be farmed in such a fashion. Either the loot will be so terrible that people fighting it the first time (and likely dying a few times) will get practically nothing for their time spent, or the people who have practiced fighting it countless times will get loot stupidly fast.

Personally I think that repeating the same fight with the same gambits active should give either diminished returns based on how many times you’ve fought it, or nothing at all (if you fight it with a different set of gambits this shouldn’t apply). Then maybe increase the rewards from beating it the first time, and I think it would be better off.

Subject 7 doesn’t even drop enough to cover the tickets used to fight him (assuming you win).

Warrior: How to faceroll Liadri

Make no mistake people.

What this guys shows here is more than just Warrior being strong. He has full control over his class and made not a single mistake. He knew exactly “what” she was doing and “when”. He is also the type of player that doesn’t take the easy way out looking at the way he dodges these AoE attacks while all he could do is just step aside.

His damage was insane, but still 1 mistake and he would have been dead just like any other person. anyways Good Job there and solid skills.

What other classes can burst Liadri down before her second phase even has a chance of properly activating? I’m honestly curious here. Not denying that he’s great at playing a warrior because that much is obvious. Just questioning why other classes can’t compete.

I think a thief could do that kind of damage.

Can any of the devs give a comment on this? In the past living stories you were able to replay missions or cinematics. Why not for this one?
