I think we should be able to purchase temporary Agony resistance from a Fractal NPC, i.e. pay x gold to get 30 and up to 70 AR for 1-2 hours.

This would allow players across different item tiers, but similar skill level, to enjoy Fractal content.

I got kicked out of a CM group the other day because it was listed as all paths and that I had to have a meta build.

I only joined because it was doing all paths and I didn’t care about the meta build part.

Within the first 10 seconds of me loading into CM, they ask if I have reflects. I’m playing a Mesmer. So I reply, “What are Reflects?” Instantly, I was looking at a Queensdale load-screen.

Glad I didn’t run with them. I ended up swapping to my Thief and doing a run with some other people where I ended up soloing all of the Inquest technology (never done CM with my Thief before, so that was interesting) and doing some other fun things that I’d never done before. It was a learning experience although I know a lot of mechanics well so it wasn’t that bumpy. It was actually quite fun compared to my Mesmer where it’s mostly just: Stack -> Reflect -> Stack -> Reflect -> Reflect -> Stack.

Instead it was: Stealth -> Stack -> Stealth -> Stack -> Stealth -> Stealth -> Stack.

Oh wait…

below 1.5k = Generally doesnt know anything. Above 10k= I have a legendary greatsword(staff) as a mesmer(guardian) and by god I am going to use it!

The only exceptions is I have yet to see a bad one is ele and the thief. Now of-course this doesnt mean this is an universal truth nor that it will be true when I log on tonight but thus far.. :"D

They have all been s/fers who stack might and its usually the only time I ever see 25stacks of might. ( I add in my 15is stacks of might)

He was trying to make the point that a group that asks if a Mesmer has reflects is at best, very absent minded, and at worst totally incompetent.

I guess it’s the new “Dungeon Master” equivalent, except it’s only likely super hardcore dungeon runners will get it since it requires you to unlock every skin from every dungeon.

Any of you have enough tokens to get it yet? I’m curious what the reward chest contains.

So how would you feel about significantly increasing FGS auto DPS to compensate for the rush nerf? That seems like a pretty reasonable option; after all it’s an elite and should feel powerful. I think among the Elementalist’s auto-attack options, the Fiery Greatsword should have the highest DPS to justify being an elite.

How does the DPS of the FGS autoattack compare to other attacks the elementalist has, such as Lava font spam, lightning hammer, etc?

Today I decided to do Crucible of Eternity with some randoms. I have heard of this technique known as “stacking” which is supposed to be the easiest way to kill everything. We would pile on the boss and slap it with our melee weapons. Yet, every time we went to stack against the various bosses, such as Subject Alpha, we just died in one hit. Everyone was telling me that stacking is supposed to be some cheap tactic that kills everything while they cant do anything back!!! I thought I was never supposed to dodge!!! What happened??

The silver kit can actually mess up your inventory space because it will salvage junk upgrades like green runes and sigils off armor and weapons. The mystic salvage kit is just cheaper and has enough charges for salvaging rare stuff,

However, the other items in the shop that can be purchased in bulk have their bulk rates discounted, unlike these. So I think it’s some sort of error.

I agree. For PvE, most classes tend to have 1 “core” build with minor variations involving a redistribution of several trait points. A lot of trait lines are totally useless for PvE.

I think they could be improved (though I don’t expect it to happen). My thoughts:

- Instead of looking like weapons made of pure light or energy (like the Chaos Axe from GW1) you can often see the base model.
- A major factor in the appeal of chaos gloves and axes in GW1 is that they were dyeable. These are not
- The base models are not always original and while they shouldn’t be complex, they can be a bit more in line with the aesthetic of the original Chaos Axe.

When he does AoE lifesteal, GS3 out of it and dodge once. Switch back to your axe/sword and you will have full endurance. As soon as he does the single target lifedrain, dodge twice, then switch back to greatsword. Repeat.

Do you have a gaming mouse?

Tried running Sorrow’s Embrace earlier. Couldn’t go with any party because I wasn’t stacking or skipping everything but the bosses. When I went to make my own party, people were joining it to kick me out of it, because I didn’t want to skip or stack.

The community has become really toxic about “stacking” and I wish ANet would put an end to it. The skill requirement for the majority of the game is out the window from it, and it doesn’t allow for a good experience for players who have no idea what’s going on. (i.e. getting kicked out without warning.)

We just finished but did not realize the dream of killing everything, sadly. This experience, however, is proof that some enemies in dungeons are meant to be skipped.

We finally gave up on the giants because they have a skill that restores them to 100% hp when they hit 25%. Shout heals confirmed OP. We also would have had to kill a pack of ~30 elites.

Carried them through lupi. They all died and had I to solo it. Onto grenth.

They started getting a little exasperated when I would charge into every pack of risen Elites along the way.

We just arrived at Lupicus. Some people are reading up on the fight. We missed a champ spider and its elites near Lyssa/magecrusher but I don’t think the other guys want to go back and kill it.

It is true that a lot of elites (especially transformations) are really bad and need major work.

As for weapon swap, the cooldown exists for balance reasons.

Not going to happen as long as Izzy Cartwright himself remains one of those “filthy zerker e1337ists.”

I get that this is the 999th hairstyle thread, but I’d really like to see more hairstyles that are relatively common in contemporary fashion, as opposed to exotic or outlandish ones. Some examples:

There actually is some highly effective counterplay against the shades and their stacks: blinds. A competent thief can take three or probably five (never bothered to look at Black Powder’s target limit) shades out of the fight forever and a good guardian or elementalist can also severely slow down the corruption stacking of up to three shades.

The problem with the Grenth temple priest fight is something else: 90 % of the people participating are completely incompetent. They don’t bother to get the buff and kill the shades, so the few players who know what to do simply get overrun by shades. And out of the people fighting the shades, I’d bet that a large part runs builds which are completely useless for PvE, complicating the fight even further.

In the end, the fight is fine. There’s no need to change it and reward stupidity.

The target limit for black powder is 5.

Currently, some of the mechanics, chiefly the shades’ corruption, lack reasonable counterplay.

To defeat the shades at the Risen Priest of Grenth, players must enter Grenth’s domain by touching these pools at the side of the room, enabling them to damage the otherwise invulnerable shades. In theory, this sounds alright. In practice, this runs into several severe problems:

1. The shades apply 1 stack of corruption per attack, each lasting 60 seconds, and 25 stacks results in instant death. There is no way to remove these stacks other than sitting out of the fight, and 60 seconds is a very long time.

2. Killing the shades would supposedly prevent stacks from becoming an issue in the first place. Unfortunately, the health of the shades scales up dramatically as more people enter the event, requiring a significant amount of time to kill them.

3. Because the shades are numerous and have the ability to instantly kill you if you are attacked 25 times within 1 minute (less than 1 attack every 2 seconds), it is extremely difficult to defeat them in a proper battle. The longer the fight goes, the higher the chances the shades will win because you are constantly being attacked and cannot cleanse the stacks. Most of the time, players attempting to fight the shades will die within 10 seconds. I think the only way to kill them in a timely manner, if they are scaled up to 30+ players, is to use dungeon speedrun tactics (full berserker gear with multiple fiery greatsword elementalists rushing LOS’d shades into a wall). That’s not going to happen in the open world because people “play how they want” at the end of the day.

4. Ultimately, this means the event is easier to complete with as few people as possible, which with the megaserver system is rather difficult.

Here are some ideas for improving the event by giving the enemies more opportunities for counterplay.

- As players acquire more stacks of corruption, they deal more damage to shades and the Risen Priest of Grenth.
- There can be pillars of light that players can stand in to remove corruption stacks.
- Reduce the duration of corruption.
- Limit the number of shades that can be active.

Spammable, cheap armor ignoring damage. Access to a wide variety of hexes and conditions to shut down enemies. Ability to heal a team, create a massive wall of minions to tank for your team (or bomb the enemies on death), or provide energy for a team. Necros and their skills were so incredibly powerful in GW1.

I miss my splinter weapons barrage ranger, that much is certain.

As for rangers in this game, I think one of the problems with the class is the haphazard placement of traits. Why are the major pet damaging traits in Skirmishing? Why are the major weapon utility traits in stuff like Wilderness Survival or Nature Magic? Why do most of their % damage modifiers require 25 points of investment? Beats me.

I feel like the main reason to get runes of Rage is for the #4 bonus, which can be a source of fury for classes with limited access to offensive boons.

You have to be somewhat close to your pet for that to work, which isn’t always the case. I’m mostly speaking from a PvE perspective, but in some dungeon trash runs (where mobs can put 30 seconds of poison/cripple/weakness/chill on you all at once) I’ve tried using Signet of Renewal and nothing has happened, so I don’t consider it very reliable.

Sword/Warhorn + GS is the ideal primary weapon setup for most rangers in dungeons. Axe and torch offhand are situationally useful. Shortbow and Longbow have their uses as well but they are rarely used as primary weapons in dungeons.

In cases where you are soloing something on a class without easy access to fury, how do these stack up against the other popular choices (Scholar, Strength, etc)?

What are some builds you would recommend for soloing content where your pet is going to be dead the entire time (Lupicus etc)?

I’ve noticed something similar, if I advertise an LFG for super casuals I’ll get at least one very experienced player.

Rangers. No, not the class itself, just general ranger players. Those players who go shortbow/longbow and take a bear or a spider! And when they finally notice that they do absolutely no dps, do you think they try to get the meta builds ? Noo, they don’t. One of the problems I have with rangers is that their DPS is is very weak when their pet is dead. I’ve had to solo lupicus on my ranger in some Arah groups and it can take quite a while if my ranger isn’t traited for solo combat.

Everyone’s said “guard or war,” but nobody else has said ele, and i dont understand why. Maybe we have different ideas of the sort of pug group the OP is referring to. I was thinking of “p123, zerk only, ping or kick – no necro/engi” groups, where the pugs know how to might-stack, use FGS, and coordinate banners. Sometimes they know to knock bosses to walls, sometimes they dont, but it doesnt matter because i LH 3 push bosses to wall and FGS before they even get there. Which is why, in these sort of pugs, the best class to play is ele. You can pre-stack might, push to wall, and FGS all on you own, and the pugs are zerk and sometimes in meta, and they usually know how to use a FGS.

I agree Ele is best for moderate to highly coordinated groups, but if I have to carry a group of absolutely clueless people I will take Guardian. It depends on the context.
