So your argument about ranger pets beying similar to glyph of elementals and having the same issue goes down the toilet.
Yes, I know ranger pets can be controlled a little better than elementals. That wasn’t my point. My point was that npcs in general have issues avoiding damage spikes and I was using the complaints on the ranger forums as an example. The npc you’re escorting has the same issues. That’s the design flaw in npc mechanics I was referring to, and my point is that just because our elementals suffer from the same flaws that all npcs do, doesn’t make the elite a bad skill. It’s the npc mechanics that are the problem there, and that’s what should be fixed. Not the skill.
Full golemancer rune set says what?
That I’ve done 7*3=21 Crucible of Eternity runs. You claimed I’ve never entered the dungeon. I’ve given you proof that I have. And even though it may not be so in your eyes, the fact that I’ve chosen a golem summon over stats is because I like golems. Liking golems has little to do with how good or bad someone is at the game.
The fact of the matter you use them “so extensively” and yet you did not realise that dragon tooth takes between 90-95% hp of earth elemental in 1 hit and all the rest die instead is more of a fact than what youve just said.
Just did the dungeon. My earth elemental survived for about 45 of the 60 seconds against said boss. That’s also a fact. Ir could be luck, I’ll grant you that. Regardless, that’s just 1 (or, 3 if you prefer) boss. There’s still the rest of the dungeon where the elementals work pretty well.

You again misunderstand my intentions. Of course everybody knows that the elemental that’s actually summoned differs. That’s not news. I’m highlighting that particulat aspect of the skill in order to provide an argument for my point of view. I’m claiming the glyph is great because the outcome of the skill can not be 1 thing, but 4 things. That’s a standard discussion technique. Another technique is the one you’re using: discrediting an opponent. It’s quite effective too I’ll admit, but it’s flawed in the fact that you’ve never met me, nor have you seen how well I play. So wheter I suck or not, is not really your call to make.

To make it very clear, I’ll rephrase my reason why I like the glyph in as simple terms as possible:
Most skills -> do one thing regardless of how or when you use them.
Glyphs -> do different things based on which attunement you use.
I like Glyph of Elementals -> because instead of 1 fixed summon, you get to choose between 4 slightly different versions. It almost feels like having 4 different skills /8to me*!Do you read me claiming you’re a wise guy because you prefer ruby gems for the increased stats they give? Nope. Then don’t call me a noob for my pointing out the reason I like the glyph. I didn’t invent it. I’m not the only one who sees it. Don’t claim I said that.
45-60 elemental vs alpha by luck, i prefer worse stats because i like golem just for fun, ive done 21 runs in CoE, that pretty sums it up, you obviously like the game for fun without caring about efficiency or the usefullness of your toon, good for you, nothing wrong with having fun in a game as games are meant to have fun with.
The only Alpha boss that will make your elemental last more than 3 seconds is the alpha boss at the end of the path number 1 and thats it when the team is face tanking it, thats 1 in 9 alphas, also, temporarly glitched idling alpha doesnt count, so again this skill and the other 2 elite skills are worthless in those circumstances.
I have posted this thread what many other elementalists and i are experiencing, there is not 1 elementalist elite skill to be worth us wasting 1 second of casting time in dungeons and 1 hit kill mobs or bosses, this thread has nothing to do about whats fun and whats not or what you like or what not, youre once more offtopic.

@TWMagimay : You are free to twist my words as much as you can or want to, although that’s highly irrelevant. In no part of my post have I said my problem is that my elite skill ends at some point. I explained thoroughly that it ends prematurely, (I bet you know what that words means ( get it?)) and this is caused by numerous external factors, not just one.
@TheWarKeeper: Whether the skills is underpowered or not (it is) is just as irrelevant. First of all I’d like to see it properly work. At level 60 the sword’s auto attack throws 4 fireballs. They usually deal somewhere around 300+400+600+1200 damage for each auto attack, all in AoE with a larger area of effect than the daggers, for instance. I have 20 swings x 4 fireballs each for each sword. I don’t know how you play, but the sole damage of the auto-attack and the gap-closer spell on 3 are more than enough to kill a huge bunch of mobs, even with 2 veterans alongside them, and evade them at all times.
Now unless you have something constructive to say – feel free to not write at all. I won’t cry too loud about your absence, don’t worry.
You do realise that its not actually 300+400+600+1200 right? the damage tooltip simply shows how much damage you are dealing with that spell, you are not dealing 1200 damage in 1 of the GS autoattack fireball….. further more the GS auto attack is below 30% better than staff auto attack in dps, but since its casting time takes longer, its a drawback to cast other spells meanwhile so its subjective, better in some situations worse in others, you also are reduced at half the range and no attunement switch, and i can do way more dps with my staff than youll ever do with ur GS at level 80 btw.

i think what he is trying to say is that having that sword equipped increases the chance for that player to die rather than using his normal skillset, and i agree with him on high level content, on low level content fiery GS is nb.
i prefer glyph of elementals over the GS, its an excelent skill to use at low levels but at high levels it lacks the dps to make it worth it imo.
i suggest u go staff, i dont recall finding a hard fight with staff at any level also make sure to use the glyph of elementals both of them to mantain a backup for 180 seconds before recharge is needed.
use earth mostly as its the best tanker and use some healing spells to help him if necessary however most of the time it isnt, use glyph of storms too for aoe blind when you are trying to take alot of easy mobs in a single fight.
D/D is overhyped because its easy to use and it offers better chance in spvp 1vs1, but this is pve, so i suggest staff.

Full golemancer rune set says what? if u honestly use that rune set then you are not only poorly experienced at the dungeon but also at making builds, just for the fact of the matter that 6 ruby orbs offers you way more than what a golemancer rune set does is enough of a proof for that.

Now, the only thing im impressed about is that you use golemancer runes and claim to be experienced at something you clearly are not and when you say “I know when to use the skill and i know that earth ele =! ice ele != air ele != fire ele” very well played Sir! you have taught not only us, but also the devs themselves about glyph of elementals!…. for a second there, i tought my fire ele was dazing enemies or my earth ele gave me swiftness, its talking about the basics and taking them as if youre some sort of MacGyver by exploring them that really shows how your claims are to be taken.
We are talking about having no usefull elite in dungeons and gylph while usefull in explorable areas with hearts, events and stuff like that, and i am finding myself using it alot there however i simply cannot use it to my advantage on most situations in dungeons especially this one, if you come here talking about mediocre things like press the [jump] button to jump, then this thread topic clearly isnt for you.

Fiery Greatsword is fun. It controls the battlefield, period. Have you seen how much cripple it can stack? The damage is good and while I’m not sure if it is intended or not, even the auto attack hits multiple tight-knit mobs. Let a friend pick up your other sword and your entire group can kite melee mobs with absolute ease.
I use GS when I staff to switch to high single-target DPS and/or to handle large mobs that my group needs to kite to survive.
That said, I’ll always take a buff, especially in range. I’m also not wild about #4 run skill. The #5 is ok, I suppose.

As to your first point, that’s more of a problem with the dungeon mechanics, not the glyph. I’ve seen several rangers complain about their pet dying too quickly too.
As for your second point, the Elementalist is the only one that can ‘switch’ their elite during combat. Wheter you need damage, a tank, snares, healing or a ranged attacker, you can pick what you want based on the attunement you’re in.
Finally, I’ve noticed that the Earth Elemental does in fact survive more than a few hits against Subject Alpha. But I’ll admit it helps if you time it right and maybe throw it a boon or two. But even if it doesn’t, it’s still very useful as a distraction. Protecting the party from instant kill attacks or crystal traps is just as important as dealing damage.
You are right, the dungeons are wrong, they should all be nerfed according to ele useless elites… btw i was beying sarcastic
As for the dungeon part im sorry but you clearly dont know much about CoE and your comment about an elemental protecting the party from instant kill attacks is proof of that if anything it makes it even worse.
As for still sticking by the 4 elite talk, just because a spell has different behavior based on your attunement by no means it count as an extra skill, ‘switch’ isnt switch, and yo u do not switch spells because u switch attunements, again if you really did that you would have had independant recharge time for each of its 4 behaviors which you dont, its behavior is simply changed thats all it does and by no means it counts as 2 or 3 or even 4 skills.
I expected this btw, only a player who rush tests a skill in explorable and judges it by those areas alone could make such bold claims.

To be honest, I really don’t get the bashing that Glyph of Elementals is getting lately. I mean, it’s basically 4 skills you can choose from instead of just one, the elementals’ dps is higher than our own auto attacks. Each elemental comes with its own AoE boon buff (might, swiftness, regeneration or protection respectively). Best of all, it can be traited to the point where it has one of lowest cooldowns of all elite skills.
What more do you want from a skill? Instant kill a target and make you coffee at the same time?
nonlinearthe only thing I would do to improve the elemental is add some kind of passive to it so that it has some use when you aren’t using it. IMO if you don’t pop your elemental every time it is off CD then it is a worthless slot.

Yes Mango nvm ppl talking about D/D or S/D they are fun weapons but really have not much of a purpose in pve, when traited correctly your staff can annihilate crowds of 5+ mobs, try achieving that with a scepter or a dagger and u end up dead in 5 seconds.
Ive tested them extensively and my conclusion is simple especially for high level content:
both d/d and s/d are weaker when it comes to AOE dps and maintaining that aoe, both are weaker when it comes to healing aswell.
You will just need alot of practice and understanding the mob scripting behavior to know where to cast it and when.
Remember you are playing an elementalist not a thief.
Why would the fire elemental would overnerfed? because it uses its skill according to its script? the power is the same, using it at the right time makes it no way more OP than its randomness right now as long as you dont change the CD, and fire elemental is easy to kill.
Im playing human elementalist, im sorry but i do not use racial skills, when racial skills are considered better than elite skills you will know something is seriously wrong with the class as the devs officially stated they nerfed racials to be less effective than profession skills.
Sand storm does not work vs champions or higher tier mobs, blindness has only 10% chance of attack failure on mobs with anti crowd control so i dont bother using it at all in boss fights, also in CoE which is my main dungeon, glyph of elementals doesnt stand a chance vs any silver, vs alpha its killed in 1 hit before having time to do anything.

Also, i can kill with it from a safer distance if the mobs are not moving away, yes that “if” is a big deal but as ive said, i do not come from a mmorpg where ele is a tanker with melee, that entire concept is broken to me as the diversity goes down the hill.
Right now ele is reduced to the fiery greatsword, the micro ventilator and the glyph of elementals.
Here is why all elite skills are useless for general purpose for elementalist.
lets start with fiery greatsword shall we?
Fiery Greatsword:
Conjure weapon, uses fire skills, 20% reduction in recharge from fire spells doesnt affect fire weapons (go figures) same applies for all other weapons and their attunements.
Conjure weapon dps auto attack is only between 15-25% better dps, however there is one big flaw to this calculation, you also take alot more time casting it, so you cant auto attack 1 second quickly cast something else and then get back to auto attack as that willl interrupt the auto attack, think of it as continuous damage vs burst damage.
the 5th skill of this weapon is pretty weak in terms of dps, offers nothing special besides a small buffed up glyph of storms spell, the rest of the spells of this weapon are neither on par with staff aoe nor with scepter, it is charges AND time limited, its 180 seconds recharge time wont help many, and you cannot swap it, you can only permanently destroy it and continue with your normal weapon without beying able to return back, wasting potential of all 4 elementalist attunements, this weapon its pretty much spam all skills drop and continue.
Besides all this, its 600 range casting is ridiculous despite the fact that it deals much worse damage than the normal weapons, staff, scepter and dagger depending on secondary weapon.
So this weapon is reduces to lets have some fun moment and then swapping skills in any serious dungeon fight, not only this is useless in dungeons i consider it to be useless everywhere as it scales poorly.
On to our next beloved elite!
Micro ventilator(Tornado)
Yay! you get twice the hp! you get twice the precision, you get twice the power and stability! YES! but oh wait! what? it lasts 15 seconds! you cant heal yourself unless you are counting on water atunement regen, you cant use any of your utility skill aswell, infact, you are reduced to… (suspense) 3 skills! and they are all so wonderfull! you are now scattering around foes with mediocre dps and having the privilege of the elite killing… yourself. Underwater this is the ONLY elite skill, and please mates, with the current state of the whirlpool i dont ever find myself using it anymore, its even worse underwater for survivability than it is on ground now!
Besides beying a total failure in every situation, be it vs alot of easy mobs (use staff #2) be it vs silver or champion mobs (obviously melee range wont do at all..)
its taking away from you everything you have on your bar so this skill is just plain stupid.
On to our next beloved elite!
Glyph of elementals:
Now this, for me, is the only trully viable skill for general purpose usage, however, in dungeons you will soon find out your pet dies in 3 seconds (ok maybe 4 for the earth elemental?) unless u keep urself in water attunement and heal it to postpone the inevitable, while vs normal mobs this is good in map areas it is simply too weak to make any difference in bigger fights be it earth ele, water ele, fire and if air gets aggro that includes it too.
On to our next belov, oh wait.. thats all elites ele has.
So, you are reduced to only 1 of 3 elites actually available underwater and only 1 viable on the ground vs normal mobs.
Where does this put us? Please remove all elites from the elementalist, put them into utility slot and make us a fourth utility slot or start caring for your elementalist players by adding other elites or fixing our current ones, your concept is simply nerfed to death and theres no elite skill in the gigantic list of 3 that is going to be of any use making us click the button 0 on our keyboard.

You guys do not realise that the proper dps is staff, the only reason why ppl dont use it is because its useless casting time make it an useless dps weapon, its not even close to the dps of other classes with its gigantic recharge time and slow casting times.
I think its not a virtual item that is going to help you physically nor financially in real life and some people could see it more as the company is mocking these kind of real life events by doing it ingame.
only reason I hate the no reward till end of dungeon patch~ potentially DCing right at end terrify me.
Doesn’t matter how good your ISP is, DC happens as often as kitten happens, and this game has no methods to protect people from losing progress from DCing. It kicks you from whatever you were doing. GW1 leaves your char where it was when you DC for a certain period of time.
Indeed, gw1 is better scripted overall, even the bot ai has some mild events that this game lacks.

It sounds almost as ridiculous when you claim to be immune to disconnects from your end. As if your ISP has somehow managed to find the magical formula to true 100% uptime for each and every customer simultaneously.
It’s always possible that you got disconnected due to a bug or client crash, but when you open with a statement about how it couldn’t possibly be on your side, you pretty much already know how this is going to turn out.
Listen mate, i understand that you know that internet connections are not viable, but you really dont know what youre talking about overall, i have alot of other open connections meanwhile to other servers, so yes. it couldnt be possibly on my side when i actually know how data packets are sent and received and i do the check for my internet connection stability right away too.
Lagging like heck for 20 entire minutes while i am receiving data at 120mb/s with no PL and 6ms jitter means its not on my side, before accusing someone of beying a newbie maybe u should think if that person does know what he is talking about or not before making such a blind statement.
My internet connection is not an american average crap.
I have no clue what endgame you are talking about, if you mean the storyline beying epic, listening to an annoying philosophical tree is not fun for me at all, glad i can skip most of its crap talk, the whole silvary thing are starting to get on my nerves lol

All suffering same issue should complain aswell its getting tired to get shoved off just because they cbb, new york players get to have more play time with the king because of an big incident that did not have anything to do with the game, and somehow when its their own freaking fault that we are getting screwed we are not treated the same, We wasted real life time in this dungeon run for nothing, how does that make any sence for any of you?
Hey guys, yesterday i was in AC and i got disconnected by some random game issue in the end of a path at cinematics and no it wasnt my internet problem especially since i own a fairly decent net 120mb dl 8mb upload, optics fibre and internally connected by docsis.
Anyways i lost 60 AC tokens and it was nothing to do with me, i played the dungeon to get the rewards and i didnt get them, same thing happened to me just now, i play COE i am at path 2 semi final boss hes 50% down and i get random lag and then DCED thanks to their beloved patch schedules…. then i automatically am closed off the game forced to update and then teleported outside of the dungeon, now i cant get in with a stupid server login error because me and my party are running different builds of the same game, with 1 armor set damaged i almost didnt make any gold at all and the worst part for me was once again i had to pass the 60 tokens, i want them both back as im sick of this crap and i bet other ppl who had this issue 10 times more than me are sick aswell.
Please help me with any indication guys :\

A significant buff would be adding shuffling dancing animations while attunement “dancing” because so many people expect classes to attunement “dance”. A-net shouldnt have nerfed the attunement “dancing” because “dancing” attunements is the way to go clearly.
so freaking sick of “dancing” gibberish, its called swapping, 100% nothing to do with dancing, no dance move is performed while swapping attunements, not even singing….
Yes well, imho cooldowns are not TOO bad if u increase the dps
otherwise decrease cooldowns, the cooldowns atm are a total joke for the utility of the skill

EDIT: Marxo, you have 5% force sigil which increases dps by 5%, i know it doesnt sound that great, maybe i will replace it with a ruby orb.I certainly did include crit damage, power and crit rate in my Big Long Math Post™. That was the point actually. Also I use Sigil of Strength and take advantage of the increased proc rate with Ramp, not Sigil of Force
Youve said theres no increased dps sigil for berserker, i told u that the sigil of force it is just it lol
I see whats up, the biggest flaw is that you are comparing clones to clones in an obvious rampager oriented build, ofc rampager clones will deal more damage than berserker clones, however if we start talking about phantasms it becomes the opposite.

Thank you for your reply Marxo but you are also forgetting something, not only rampager looses in power but also critical damage, the extra critical % chance is not even close to make up for the loss on both power and critical damage so in the end its still going to suck vs foes, also since i have 50%ish crit chance, it is not too often that i miss a critical shot, i can easelly reach over 2k damage per auto attack with at level 80, the same cannot be said about rampager, rampager will however slowly stack more and more bleeding to the enemy which is good unless you use it on foes with low hp and you have alot of them mitigating aoe damage, as ive said before i did the same test with both rampager and berserker in mists vs golems and vs chieftain, in both situations berserker won by 10-15% beying faster to kill.
We could say that it would make alot of sense vs foes with even a bigger health, i would agree with you if those foes would not have a way to remove the conditions then yes, rampager in pve could possibly win i cant say for certain because i do not have both in pve.

rofl… i solo champs underwater with my ele too, that doesnt mean squatt rly.
grenades right now for me IMO is a waste skill slot underwater, its simply bad in dps, i much prefer speargun.
i have been using pvp “metrics” because its the only way to test both without actually buying them, if i had both in pve i would already reached my conclusion :P
Keep it comming guys, im rly interested in your opinion, so far i see that ppl are undecided between both, while easymodex says rampager is overrated.

Hello guys, im one of those ppl who are having a hard time deciding on his exotic armor, granted if i had enough gold i would happily bought both full rampager and full berserker but the sad truth is, i dont.
Ive been debating with myself for so much time what to choose, i currently have s/p & GS combo and in mists i semm to always win with berserker amulet rather than rampager amulet, im quicker to kill foes and im also quicker to kill chieftain, the figures are the following: 19 seconds to kill a group with full berserker, 22 seconds to kill the same group with full rampager, 22 seconds to kill chieftain with full berserker, 25 seconds to kill same boss with full rampager.
I believe in pve conditions deal twice as much damage, is that enough to justify for me going rampager instead of berserker?
Ive been wanting to make up my mind for ages but so far i couldnt…
What do you guys think?

Thanks for taking the time to give us your feedback here. The fact that the “holy trinity” is not necessary anymore may be disturbing but with a bit of organization, team play and coordination, dungeons are really doable and can bring you some fun.
I personally tried it and to be honest the first dungeon was just cataclysmic but now it gets better and better, and it’s really a good experience as well as a good entertainment. I think the best, at the beginning, is to do it with players you know and try to elaborate tactics depending on the professions you are playing.
But it’s just my opinion
The problem is, you have ele as healer, warrior shield as perma block tanker, and other classes as pure dps.
I do not see the marketing purpose of trying to reinvent the wheel since clearly, even in this “trinity free” game ppl do better with “trinity” playstyle, tactics are crap and gameplay is enforced for u to play like som random idiot running around all day dodging which makes it less effective at killing monsters and less coordinated aswell,
The current system adds no benefit to the gameplay nor it makes it more interesting to have it uncoordinated, nor it increases your players base, if all it just sends them away to other mmorpgs, Anet needs to realise that, and start bringing back the monk class, having all roles do nothing specifically is not going to help the game with anything at all.

Hey guys ive been wondering about this for quite some time, wiki doesnt say much about this and i havent found any official information aswell, what exactly is the dungeon timer, imagine i do all paths, how much time do i have to wait to do all paths again and still get 60 tokens?

Hey guys, i would like to know the reason behind the horrible nerf for engineer grenadier underwater, granted it dealt amazing damage but it was only 2 grenades even with the 3 trait lines, now you correctly fire 3 grenades at slower speed, theorically it should make up for the nerf right? WRONG!
You are almost freaking useless with grenades underwater hitting like 1-2 grenade and the third and most of the times second too missing…

you do realize you linked the EXACT same website, right? you didn’t link the GW2 wiki. you linked the GW1 wiki twice and neither has the same description as either the GW2 wiki or the website.

I do not need help from the forums on how to play the class, i know the class well enough, the popular D/D bunker ele is a nothing to a serious Thief, Mesmer, War, DPS Guardian, Engineer and so on, play vs serious players and make a video, all videos shown here were fights where actually wins were only vs total newbs.
I must be doing something wrong because elementalist rocks!

Im happy you play well with your build in spvp, ive seen others too, heck ive also seen a video of 1 ele taking down 3 guys in a single fight.
Btw ive seen in spvp other eles playing really hard to win 1vs1 fights, it impressed me to see an ele win a war i even told the ele himself i was simply amazed but it all comed down to who is newb and who is not, the ele was obviously experienced and the warrior was playing like garbage, i know that because i took that ele in every single fight we had 1vs1 not only downed but also obliterrated.
The funny thing is, it was my first day playing mesmer, i was really tired as i didnt sleep for around 18 hours in that day and still managed to win every single fight vs him, if that does not tell you the class is underpowered i dont know what is.
Also by no means im calling you noob. Noob is a player who refuses to play properly even after enough period of time to know how to accomplis that. From what i can read youre not one of them.

Whatever, Eles aren’t bad biggerthanthesun, I would take anything TheWarKeeper says with a grain of salt, it just takes practice and a good build, eventually you’ll be 1v3ing people in spvp.

I’m assuming (based on your post) that this had more to do with what you happened to be aiming for with your build, and not with noticing what’s wrong with elementalist traitlines.
Yeah, I guess I can understand that IF I wanted a single-target, insta-kill spec, a la Backstab or 100B, then ele is not the way to go. For PvP, I looked at my damage and thought,“I can bleed my enemies. I can bleed ALL of them. At the same time! If only I could survive…” So I did not spec in fire for the damage bonus. Besides, I rarely stay in Fire attunement for too long. I blow those CDs first and fast. So I took 10 air for movement speed instead. I took 20 in Earth, Water, and Arcane for obvious reasons. I guess some other specs would be unviable.
Then again, don’t other classes suffer from this? For thief isn’t it Backstab, Heartseeker or go home? And I never see anything but 2-handed guardians; how boring is that? The only class I ever see much diversity in is war. They put together all kinds of weapon combos.
Thief has other viable builds, that is only 1 of them, as for bleeding, if you are going to play vs a team with microphones over a tournament, you will see ur condition dissapear long before they expire, there are only 2 or maybe 3 classes with bad condition removers.

When u talk about confusion it semms you are probably talking about the nerfed warlock build, no try vs an experienced mesmer with a GS, as for running away with low hp that doesnt count as a win for you mate and u couldnt run from my pistol turret build anyways, yeah turrets must be sounding weird the way i play it works though.
Infact i can go as far as saying I honestly do not remember EVER loosing to an elementalist fight in 1vs1 and ive meet some, my mesmer won them in less than 15 seconds with my mesmer having 70% hp, they were too busy trying to heal their hp back to 50% to actually deal me some damage xD

Pve i always go staff, scepter is a nice concept but i prefer to lure alot of enemies and use staff to kill them quickly, its fun if they never make bots run from aoe that is…

Interesting story, care to try vs my mesmer, engineer or guardian? because the only chance i am sure you would have would be surviving my guardian without killing me if you never made a mistake, other than that i see no competition.
