Necro’s have a tough gig in 1v1 situations, especially as a condition spec in an environment where spiked, burst damage currently has a much larger advantage in single target situations.
This is further exacerbated by two other factors:
1. Conditions are easily cleared by anyone who isn’t a complete cretin, anyone who doesn’t run any, is an easy kill.
2. There is no hand-holding on the necro and you commit, there is no way out. Any idiot can play a thief, warrior, guardian or DD ele and get out of pretty much anything they can’t kill on the spot
What to do?
Get a friend, necro’s are a massive force multiplier and have a large amount of crowd control that can be used for positional advantage. You also have pretty good group healing and condition removal which means your partner will stay up longer.
Spectral walk- probably one of the most flexible utility skills around and great for teleport hit and runs, juking, the run-speed and a stun break all in one.
Enemies run buffs… rip em off with a focus, or take the 50-50 chance Corrupt boon will actually hit, when it does, LOL!
Blood is Power, (it is!) super long bleed for killing idiots and 10 stacks of might which should last about 14sec on your build. Transfer the bleeds you get from it with staff 4
Get used to flicking into DS for a quick fear to keep the enemy disrupted.
Don’t ignore wells, they can be very powerful in the right terrain and situations you can lock people down into being in them.
WvW is a challenge, but probably the most fun in the game at the moment, it’ll be even better when they actually fix the culling and add rewards.

Had a roaring time in JQ BL running around bay in a constant rampage and other random acts of extreme, thrill seeking, drunken violence with our mates in EA as every man and his dog thought they where a hard case and wanted some.
Bay is being trebbed- have a slug
Took a keep- chug!
Blow up trebs- have a slug
Took a camp- have a slug
Someone mentioned double team- …drink, kill em all
Cry for help- port to SOR hills, kill every dirty kitten and have a drink
By far some of the funniest things and times I’ve had in a while
KnT Blackgate
Looking forward to seeing Kaineng rise though, should make the Oceanic timezone a bit more interesting with 3 strong servers instead of just 2 at that time.
It’d be cool to see WM and FOO hit head on, they both run massive numbers and it’d be some major fireworks.
KnT Blackgate
Moral of the story…. don’t make JQ call in its PVE force.
Don’t tell me that when I’m stuck at work. Whenever the pve people come out in force its bagtopia with all the glass-specs and no condition removal running around

Think he’s from SOR or somewhere a village is missing its idiot in an internet cafe.

Ah, the good old late 90’s, pre-ITIL work practices of IT.
“Is the boss or anyone else remotely important in the office?”
“Nope”
“Just reboot that kitten then!”

Hmm, provided it hasn’t blown out into 1000’s of points in the next 4hrs I might be up until ‘Thai time’ tonight.

We could re-write this.
Necromancers are masters of covering large areas of land in red circles. They then return to cunningly hiding behind nearby terrain features and hope patiently that really stupid people and mobs will walk into the red circles so they might collect the bags of the dead without risking life and limb.
Necromancers draw on charisma and use it to convince others that they really are useful at doing stuff with conditions, healing and hope none of them is an engineer. As a suicidal profession, necromancers wear light armor, which is the nice way of saying they basically rely on happy thoughts to protect them if someone gets around to hitting them or the equivalent of riding a motorcycle in y-fronts and hoping you never fall off.
KnT Blackgate
Best of luck to you Death Dealer. See ya on the Battlefield.
Oh don’t worry if I’m lucky enough find you, your UI will be lit up like christmas…
I didn’t like the fact you left under those circumstances, but by the time I got home to start kicking everyone in the nuts to calm the f down it’d pretty much been done and dusted. I know all about Blackgate’s history, (sans the over-dramatisation it didn’t need because we’re not actually that interesting), but its never reached an appallingly bad low where anyone thought it was unsalvageable.
The people who will fight are the same ones I’ve always known that are out there hail, shine or raining blood and worth knowing ever since we first started playing. They’ll probably always be there and we’ll do what we do regardless of how many come and go.
The only thing that will kill Blackgate and make them stop fighting is Anet if they don’t fix the problems the game has in the next month or so, because we’ll all leave to go play something else that isn’t busted, buggy and has the potential to last more than 8 months past release
SOR, to be honest their north Americans have little bearing on when I play except for the tail end of that timezone on weekends, if they think they’re hotter than buttered minge, that’s just great… they fact is, the ‘result’ isn’t there regardless of how great anyone thinks they are. At the individual, squad, battlegroup level they haven’t become asymmetric enough to win their matches on a consistent enough basis. But that’s something I’d hope by now they’d be working on. Even former 8-man DAOC players like myself would put aside our personal glory of killing 1000’s of zerglings if the realm needed us to help take or defend a relic or something similar.
Where I do have a problem is that they have a large amount of people that denigrate and disrespect the other teams publicly- when they win an encounter, when they lose, when they just seem to apparently feel like it. The lack of sportsmanship is appallingly bad and it’s splattered their more upstanding members of that gaming community unfairly with the same crap.
This becomes more relevant ‘post-GW2’ in so much that the last 3 big guilds I’ve been a part of and helped found where mostly made up of large groups of people who we fought on the other side! We ripped each others heads off in DAOC for 8-9 years, went to Warhammer together and ripped other people’s to bits, those in turn snowballed into another guild which went to AION, mostly comprised of people we fought in Warhammer… to the point I’m here now and with people who I went into AION with, are now in GW2.
Point being, heaping junk on other gamers regardless of the side you’re playing on means you will probably end up fairly lonely little bugger in the long run by limiting who will put up with your crap. Server transfers are more of a bit of a lateral extension of what happens as I mentioned above, mixed in with a generational change in how gamers apply themselves to something in a system which enables it.
As Scoobs so kindly pointed out… yeah I’m old, I tend to work at something and make it better through my own efforts, as opposed to younger generations who will rarely settle in employment roles for very long as they’re easily bored and think they can find personal fulfillment and success doing something differently, somewhere else.
Its not better or worse, just different.
KnT Blackgate
There’s definitely some value in siphon builds for pve purposes, during the last 2 days I was running it through wvw and basically I’d go ‘full Leroy’ with one other person into a supply camp full of veterans, mob guards, get all the aggro and with some careful kiting, probably be unlucky if they got me under 50%.
(on a 0, 30,20,20,0 condition build)
However, big lumps of angry, thinking opponents… nope! They will beat you like you owe them money and this wasn’t really a surprise, it just helped offset a bit of damage that our guardians and shouty-tanks where mostly covering anyway.
I dunno if I’d recommend it there in wvw, its not insufferably bad like it used to be, but its not exactly passable either in an environment where 2500hp’s of spiked-damage is not going to be offset by a piddly 100 or so hp heal.
KnT Blackgate
One of the things SOR hasn’t understood about BG and to some extent may not, is that this server has run the gamut of some of the toughest opponents in the entire NA matchup. We’ve gone head to head with TSYM at their peak, weathered the fury of Warmachine, faced the zombie-like hordes of early JQ and many others. We been tag teamed, blown up, sent back down to T2 and punched our way back up ‘the very hard way’ to T1 time and time again.
Anything we can’t beat, we’ll sure as hell try to outplay you and we will never stop coming at you until we have won.
Meaning, sometimes we have “BAD FIGHTS”
Sometimes like yesterday when I am looking at a map with maybe 1 or 0 assets, log on with 16 guildies, with 4 friends from other guilds in the voip, manage to scrounge up another 18-20 from another guild and we’ll set out to put points on the board.
The enemy, two servers running big zergs of 40 or 50+, in our past we’ve also looked down the barrel 70+ ones that mean your skills don’t fire off, lagged to heck and have commodore 64 era frame rates.
You think to yourself, this isn’t going to be easy, I’m probably going out to take a hit.
Do I log off? Go somewhere else where its easy?
No, this is Blackgate. You joined this server because you will fight even if its those horrible, bad fights where you don’t get a choice of where to play, who you play, or on the often distinct possibility of a dirt nap more than the enemy does. But you will do it because of combat discipline and respect of those you play with to help them out.
You will man that siege until you are dead
You will pull that crappy guard duty to watch for golem rushes and enemy feints
You will proc-swords in order to pull the enemy out of position and die in the process
You will scout zergs and tag gates alone so the enemy cannot port or be near your comrades
Blackgate, the server with an iron jaw that never stops regardless of how hard someone hits you personally because you’re a part of that play that means your server will win and know that it has always aimed for 1st.
Give us even so much of an inch and we’ll take your eff….g head off!
Like most of my guild, I’ve been here from pre-launch, hour-1 on this server, know that we will never stop, never transferred off and never shied away from anything because its ‘too hard’ or ‘might be a bad fight’. Unlike most, I was one of the first oceanics so I’ve seen stuff that’s not possible to win, but did it anyway because someone had to.
When I did log on with that one tower, it was 90% Red when I logged out 9hrs later.
If anyone cares, I will kill 22 of you, for every time you kill me.
Blackgate forever.
KnT Blackgate
All valid points.
The power spec is ‘getting there’ (but I wouldn’t call it anywhere near on par) and people are still getting mixed results with minions.
The condition spec is becoming worse as people figure out how to run group dynamics on their removal so that nothing sticks for very long and we cant overwhelm it as easily. Think out of all MMO’s I’ve played the necro has the worst synergy and dynamic out of all the classes I’ve played and a big part of that seems to be that at some point the designer just started bundling ‘gimmicks’ on them like Deathshroud, Plague and Lich forms as a way of making them unique. But not actually very good.
Then getting hung up on condition removal, application and so forth, which makes such abilities unavoidable even if you want nothing to do with them. Unlike say a warrior or thief who if they chose to be condition spec or power spec can easily avoid anything to do with the other.
KnT Blackgate
I suspected there are something about conditions as well since if you face a big zerg with heavy condition necro (guilds like Warmachines, kaineng), skill lags always there badly and can happen anywhere on the map/borderland not to limit to SM EBG.
That’s actually server lag when the machine has a delay in processing all information and yes, condition damage is managed by the server side just like regular damage. But, when you figure reg/dam just goes ‘Bang’ once and either does damage, glances, crits or doesn’t do damage- con/dam has a constant ticking of timers, cleanses, reductions and variable power levels during the course of it running, being stopped or reapplied.
Doing my own calculations on this to figure out my actual dps from dots… it is very complicated, in fact I dunno why Anet went this route, but meh, glad they’re not my dev’s
This isn’t the first time we’ve had it either, it was in other patches depending on ‘who’ you faced and how many conditions they where laying down. Back when KnT where going up against big guilds like Tysm in T1 last time we had the same problems against their con/dam mesmers. Provided you could keep the noobs from standing in the red circles, the lag wasn’t too bad as the machine just had to process the fields location and not calculate anything else.
Big buff-stacks at the same time will also do it but not quite to the same extent.
KnT Blackgate
I look forward to playing with choo soon, its been choo long since we’ve seen each other and we’ve got all manner of fun things to show choo guys since we last met.
KnT Blackgate
IF it is not retroactive, they are playing it safe by allowing people to jump back into WvW and FEEL that they are not behind.
Everyone wants less damage from siege or being able to grab more supply. While not strictly an advantage, people may feel behind as everyone running around has these cool bonuses.
Also progression usually involves… progressing. If after the patch we have unlocked all the passive abilities and all the cool things because we completed WvW titles that were made before this progression system…you aren’t really progressing anything.
All it takes I’ve found is 1 afternoon to teach a PvE guild how to WvW.
I did it last weekend, 5 of us hopped into their voip and spent an afternoon showing 25 or so them (with a mix of gear and levels) how to do their combo fields, where to place siege and rudimentary combat tactics.
We blew several of the best rated T2 opposing guilds off the face of the borderland, we took 2 keeps, 2 towers and a garrison in the space of 5hrs along with a handful of defence actions to hold territory.
So, I put myself on the PUG market in PvE. Who will want a level 80 condition-spec necro in full exotics for their Fractal group? 1300hrs played, killed more people than cancer and reliable.
/crickets
Oh come on, I really need the gear.
/crickets
How about a few COF speed runs?
/tumbleweeds
:(
I’m not a mesmer, guardian or warrior, so no one ever wants me in pve and now I’m looking down the barrel at having nothing to show for all my efforts over the last 7 months because Im a full time wvw player and feeling kind of gutted.
None of the existing ‘wvw achievements’ are even remotely accessible, the numbers required are so fantastically high, you’d have to be high to think they’re even do-able.
KnT Blackgate
And this is why TC loves BG.
Think the funniest part of all that was some guy from Kain who figured, “yeah I’ll just sneak in here like I belong, all real cool like and then stab a few people”
Think he got lit up with more ‘assist my targets’ than I think anyone else in the history of the game.
KnT Blackgate
So, for those of us who’ve literally been in wvw since pre-launch and spent 90% of our time there, nothing.
7 months, nothing to show for it, for putting up with the bugs, hacks, culling, severe lack of cash, only PVT gear as a currency option and you can’t even make some adjustments to give us a little bit?
Because right now, you’re really lucky there isn’t an immediate competitor for my business, though this may change in the forthcoming months to someone who does give a kitten about their players and I will remember just how badly we’ve been treated.
KnT Blackgate
Both TC and KN have been respectful servers in this match. I don’t wanna let go
Yes, but at some point soon I get to recommence my human and animal experiments again on Choo zergs, which I have sorely missed… I’m sure they’ve gotten fat and lazy from ‘simpler things’ these past weeks and not having us hunt them for their skins at all hours.
Some things have to be endured.
And that makes the pleasures so much sweeter…
KnT Blackgate
Kain’s a good server, we’re seeing their guilds learning a lot in T2 and with a bit more NA & EU coverage would be a contender for T1 in a month or two down the track I believe.
(In saying that, I don’t know at a macro level how their wvw organisation is set up)
KnT Blackgate
What next? An International Space Station? AWACS? Nuclear Launch Sites? Red Alert: THAT -> WAY
Deathstar, lets not muck around anymore!
KnT Blackgate
These are some really good updates!
I’ve been carrying focus instead of dagger for the last 4 weeks in an attempt to cull the plague of gaurdians and ele’s in WvW, the fact it packs a bit more punch now should make it a bit more fearsome.
If anyone can do some testing later (stuck at work), I’d love to see some results from the vampiric changes, been something I ‘wanted to play’ but was disappointed by it since beta.
I’m not really tempted to pick up an axe though just yet
KnT Blackgate
That would explain why there was no repair guy in Kain-Hills last night when I went in to sell the massive bounty of craptacularly poo blue loot drops that I had accumulated and to fix a sound beating from some kitten that dented my boots.
I just thought he was out to lunch of something… I didn’t realise they killed him! :o
KnT Blackgate
Funny how the people in the sPvP forums are saying the exact same thing about WvW.
Except the spvp forum is somewhere devs talk to customers at least twice on each subject index page, people ask questions about how to find the thing to do the thing and it seems to be a happy place.
…we’re the wvw forum where devs fear to tread, mods infract everything on an hourly basis and its mostly a wasteland of human vitriol and spite.
SPvP = happy elf forest of pew pew
WvW = happy elf forest after its been burnt and the survivors hunted and eaten
I love you guys
KnT Blackgate
What kitten is this? BGBL’s Red Lake tower is still lord-less. All walls/gate down, but we can’t capture it.
Must be development for Anet’s new x-pack of WvWvWally aka “Where’s Wally & why cant we see the crowd he’s also hiding in?”
Can’t see enemies- check
Can’t see friends- check
Can’t see guild claimer- check
Going pretty good so far!
KnT Blackgate
WvW is still lots of fun, I like the people I play with and against, I like killing people and need no incentive what so ever to continue slaughtering people, because that’s what I like to do.
But its just not rewarding at all and hence there’s not an immediate mass-appeal for most people who come from an MMO/PvE orientation to actually do it. Where this issue comes into play for the people like me is that its not actually sustainable in its current format.
To the point we don’t always have the best gear, we don’t always have enough siege, we can’t always run a full set of food buffs, etc, etc. Then I look at people with ascended, legendary gear and other stuff with interesting titles, sigh very deeply and feel disappointed that there’s absolutely no recognition for full time, frontline people like me.
KnT Blackgate
I mean these guys are a subsidiary of NCSoft, which is very big company and they’re not exactly poor or unsuccessful! So if someone had to stump up a bit of cash to get something across the line with the potential to recoup and make more, it is there.
NCSoft appears clearly to be taking an excessive portion of the games revenue and not letting anet have enough to properly support the game. They clearly don’t have the resources to properly support it.
Given the reddit interview recently this seems to be a likely assumption at the moment. While NC aren’t nearly as ‘we eat producers’ like EA is, there’s a pretty big element of “We sell boxes” aspect to both companies and they’re not really interested too much beyond the shipping date and sales stage. After that it runs on a shoestring.
KnT Blackgate
But where are their resources being used on? NC Soft aren’t making any other title that I even heard of. Tell them to send over a few programmers to help out. The GW franchise is their most successful franchise in North America by far. Surely they should put in more resources to make sure it remains successful.
I don’t understand this either, NCsoft are a big company with a lot of global resources I’m sure they can allocate remotely to do piece-work in certain areas. But if the interview is anything to go by, then most of us are going to have to play with a much longer timeline between changes than we’d expect.
While that might be completely reasonable expectation from the current resources allocated to do the work, what I’d more worry about is the damage to the community long-term which is something MMO produces should be very, very aware of that if enough people leave, they take others with them and populations rapidly shrink to unsustainable levels.
Warhammer was a classic example, the big selling point was rvr there but they couldn’t get their act together enough to support it, within 6 months the population was halved, then halved again in subsequent months until its the joke that it is now.
The reason this is pertinent is that at 6 months, GW2 has a good selling point with its wvw, but its running on good faith and a lack of competition from other producers for this ‘niche’ area. People want pve, they go thump mobs in a half dozen games which do that, people want spvp, there’s dozens of games that do that… wvw/rvr, there’s not many at all, yet.
KnT Blackgate
This has been a great match up. Thanks for almost a month of great fights.
It certainly has, there’s a lot of very high quality guilds on both TC and Kain that if you don’t bring your A-game to the fight, then you’re going to get smoked and a repair bill for your whole crew.
Don’t think for a moment that a lot of us on BG aren’t digging pretty deep tactically and on a battlefield awareness level, just to keep sneaky TC’s from stealing our stuff and then there’s ‘oh my god’ organised numbers that Kain can field at certain times- that against certain highly ranked T1 servers, would soundly wipe them off the map.
KnT Blackgate
All Dev’s will be hunted for their skins, there will be dancing on corpses, laughter and fireworks!
Been a pretty fun defence of kain garrison the past 4 hours,
it looks like swiss cheese
Estate agents would call that a ‘lived in’, in fact its a little like somewhere I lived in during university.
Three walls knocked down? ‘Renovators delight’
People knifing each other all hours of the day? ‘So-ho, inner city neighborhood’
Mound of corpses on the front door ‘Historical former owners’
Dunno if they’d have one for great flaming balls of death raining down intermittently though, that might be a hard sell.
KnT Blackgate
lol mate, I reckon you’d be safe betting wads of gold that nothing gets done for a very, very long time!
KnT Blackgate
Let’s face it, Necro’s are the laughing stock in WvW. Ask around if you’re brave to face the same general opinion.
If you’re talking about random, power or minion spec necro’s wandering around in pugs, mindless zergs or solo, then yeah there’s not a lot that’s appealing about them. That is something which does need some serious attention because they’re mostly bloody awful or in the ‘extremely hard’ bracket to play- against living opponents.
Well-bomber and Condition-spec necro’s (or semi-hybrids of both) in well stacked, coordinated guild groups are greatly feared and for a whole lot of synergy reasons that don’t just revolve around spike-DPS. They’re the reasons the why the frontline friendlies have no conditions/CC on them, getting healed and enemy is always blind, chilled, has no buffs and multitudes of them dying very quickly.
The deficiencies of the necro (lack of buffs, stability etc) are also covered by other classes working together as a combat unit, so they do fill an important role that isn’t really covered 100% as well by others.
Is it as good or effective as it could be and doesn’t need improvement?
Certainly not, there’s a lot of work to be done on this career.
But the flipside is that the opposition has the same problems as well and I make a point of leveraging of what strengths necro’s do have, rather than make them try to do something as well as another career can, then get all upset about trying to fit a round peg in a square hole.

Durios is open for business.
We opened for business yesterday too, then they where all gone so fast some of them even left their bags behind.
If you’re in WM or Meow and think you may have lost your baggage it can be reclaimed at the handlers in south EBG, just look for the big angry purple guards and bring proof of ID.
KnT Blackgate
But I digress. Just warning you guys, don’t get your hopes up for March.
Think most of the wvw community is used to being underwhelmed for the last 7 months, its just a case of ‘how much’ they will put up with and for how long.
I mean these guys are a subsidiary of NCSoft, which is very big company and they’re not exactly poor or unsuccessful! So if someone had to stump up a bit of cash to get something across the line with the potential to recoup and make more, it is there.
KnT Blackgate
I’m thinking 5 people should be the cutoff point,
5 guys and a superior ram = into a tower in about 3mins.
25 guys with 4-5 superior rams and that place is open, lord killed, circle is capped and gone in around 50 seconds if they’re even half competent.
I mean, does anyone Anet even play this stuff anymore or are they just pulling random numbers out of thin air?
KnT Blackgate
I’ve given the original poster an up-vote, but if I’m honest all Anet really has to do is drag WvW across the line to the point that the people playing it break-even in cash, get rid of the bugs, exploits, have top-tier equipment available with the wvw currency (karma & and badges) and have server-wide objectives as a reason to punch each other over.
From there- we can actually play the game how we want and make up the reasons to play, as we see fit. DAOC did it for years, running on the inertia that it was mostly just fun to kill people… lots of people and there was some relatively tangible benefits to doing so with titles, realm abilities and so forth.
Those kind of things, you can add in over time and we’ll be happy. What will cause the WvW community as a whole to “loose their collective s…t” over is if you don’t acknowledge the effort many of us have put in since release…
If Anet says, “no we don’t care because its not fair to new people”, then you really have no idea of how a gaming community works, people learn from PLAYING with others and not a game company holding their hands every step of the way.
KnT Blackgate
So Thai was organizing a golem rush in Kening last night and RK joined it and i most admit Omega Golems are the greatest golems.
Yeah, I think my actual calling in GW2 is to be a robot pilot.
When Anet gives us nothing in the next patch to use badges on and my necro remains buggy, gimped and mostly worthless… I shall trade all my 1000’s of worthless badges in and just go on a month long Omega golem rampage every day.
No flesh will be spared, no door will remain unbroken.
KnT Blackgate
PvE players for the last 3 months have 90% of the time told me to bugger off, they don’t want a necro in their group, ever. Same goes for spvp groups, no one wants me there either ‘because your class sucks’.
Or my career is ‘not in our meta’ or whatever the hell that’s supposed to mean, so I don’t even bother trying to figure out anymore what other people’s end-game is
So, I’ll just kill em all.
Some of the most completely selfless and charitable people are in wvw, maybe I just got a lucky server in that respect.
KnT Blackgate
(edited by Thresher.3049)
I actually think ladders should be part of WvW.
I sort of miss my rogue characters in DAOC climbing up walls, stabbing people in the face that where working siege and then running off giggling before their friends turned up and got really angry.
Course, that actually had decent stealth mechanics and not this GW2 rubbish so we should be careful what we wish for… :o
KnT Blackgate
TC only had themselves to blame or they could have had HB ‘roleplaying’ this week. Bet was, first one to have all 3 keeps capped at the same time and the other one has to roleplay.
KnT had the 3rd keep down to the final 50% tick in the lord room, all Kain’s dead and guess who comes in and ruins everything… yeah, you’re terrible. Not terrible at kicking our kitten but terrible because we so nearly had the bet.
Least we didn’t lose it either I suppose :o
KnT Blackgate
Fairly sure not every class has AOE that can hit siege… well, properly placed siege anyway, I know this as I have an AOE build which can’t hit any siege.
Ele’s are the little critters that can just dragon tooth and meteor storm everything to death, its why we sort of put up with them
GW2, where you can have a rapid fire blunderbuss but the invention of the 20ft ladder is beyond us.
KnT Blackgate
BG did you like the way we took SM off your hands?
I liked the way TC bay still stood firm.
It is the bad place where Kaining players go to die… you should stay away from that one
KnT Blackgate
Consume Conditions counts each type of condition as seperate, this means that 1 bleed or 100 will still count as the same bonus healing. The same logic affects other condition removal, so an ability that removes one condition will remove any number of bleeds and count that as one condition.
Just gave me an interesting thought about condition removal which could be modified over the existing system ‘as-is’.
If any ability removed ‘number of condition stacks’ rather than the actual condition itself?
ie:
Bob Guard is running passive removal on a 5sec cyclic time.
Every 5 sec, Bob will remove ‘one’ condition starting with Crowd-Control and Immobilisers as a priority and moving down towards low-damage conditions such as bleeds.
Bob finds himself loaded up with one 20sec cripple and 3 x stacks of 8sec bleeds.
On this system, at the 5 sec mark it removes the cripple, at 10sec mark it reduces the bleeds to 2 x stacks
Eric Necro is running consume conditions which is an active clearance skill and heal which removes 10 x stacks
Eric has a 2 x stacks of confusion, 10 x stacks of bleeds and an chill
Upon using his skill, it removes the Chill, Confusion and 7 of the 10 stacks of bleeds, he still had 3 stacks of bleeds on him.
As for mobs, there might need to be tables put in place of how many a certain critter will shed over a period of time and which ones it will prioritise removing.
The reason being, this kind of system is one that can scale, so mobs might shed higher amounts if there’s more people whacking away on them and it also makes passive removals valuable, but not essentially ‘better’ than active removals which will remove larger stacks of conditions.
Just a thought anyway.
KnT Blackgate
Another possible suggestion, which I would like to see, is to combine all dungeon currencies into one, with the exception of FoTM.
Or even some kind of anonymous currency exchange (like the gems>gold, gold >gems) because its really getting out of hand.
12 dungeon tokens
1 wvw badges
1 gold/silver/copper
1 karma
1 laurels
1 glory in spvp
1 influence for guilds
1 skill points for the forge attendant
1 gems for the black lion
That’s 20 different types of currencies and that’s just utterly crazy. Obviously some things you don’t want people to inter-trade on a personal level between each other (like skill points, karma etc), but there must be some kind of way of having some kind of currency market?
Or you end up like me, 120gp, 120 CoF tokens, 2mil karma, 7000+ badges and the only thing I can get with badges is power-vit-toughness gear… which is about as useful as being repeatedly punched in the head, when you’re a condition necromancer.

I really liked your presentation and detail, but I’m not sold on it personally as kiting agro can be just as effective as face-blocking and as a necro… we get and keep agro! I can drop 2 bleeds from BIP on a camp supervisor and he’ll try to kill only me all day while I run around and around in circles dropping marks while super-dps power build classes unload and beat the tar out of it!
As a true comparison, if this class was worth ‘selling’ in a sense people should trade in their ‘almost functional condition gear and spec’ for PVT and dagger- it would be good to park an equivalent Warrior (or Guard) + gear and tanky-weapons (mace, shield, sword shield etc) next to the same type of mob and running some comparative vs DPS/Damage taken.
Otherwise, you’d be better off taking the more conservative approach and spend the spare gold/karma/magic beans or whatever on making a ‘tank’ out of one of the aforementioned careers.

Haha actually that isn’t me, although coincidentally I am in [KnT]. I was on my Elementalist named Zendimas during that Bay defense.
You did eat a rock or 2 at around the 3min mark, maybe you’ll get a Blackgate purple heart for standing in front of enemy artillery and getting wrecked by it in the line of duty

Well, as for Mike Ferguson being an old DAoC hand, recall that DAoC didn’t have forums, they left us to our own devices on the VNBoards. Which may explain why so many of us have a hard time being socially acceptable on message boards in general…..
Around 2003-4 they got all PG-13 too and a lot of the fun ceased (…well it ceased temporarily in between bans for me most of the time), eventually they sold out and the whole place imploded. Which was sad as many of my friends really only used that place to talk about MMO games and are no longer contactable, they fired up another site but I couldn’t be bothered putting up with the same mods.
Think most of my message box was full of ‘You are banned’ and ‘yes I thought your post was kind of funny, but you can’t say that about other user’s moms.’

Hiya War Machine, KO, and whoever other massive amount of Kain numbers that were also at Bay on TCBL the past 2 hours. [KnT] and Blackgate says hello!
That was epic.
cough
.snip.
Oh you misunderstood my post … I was just nudging our dear Liquid fellah .. seems he owes us a video of him eating a sock.
Got a video of him eating dirt around the 9min mark if that helps :o
(least he’s buried under a mound of dead enemies )
Actually fairly rare footage, there is not many KnT videos out there as we’re pretty humble, its filmed by Roger our squishy but very brave scout.

I agree for all the reasons mentioned on why there are caps to how much a condition will stack on a single target.
Unfortunately, conditions have been complete crap since beta, then they where not fixed since release and Anet even acknowledges that they get cleared to easy in PvP/WvW, mechanically in PvE they’re hindered if more than one-two sources are putting them on and Power damage is currently the meta for pretty much anyone who wants to get anywhere.
Just how it is, but they have all their man-hours invested in making PvE events so you’ll buy gems, than actually rectifying something that actually cripples entire class spec lines… and when you’re pretty much a one-trick pony like the necro that seems to be based entirely around conditions (even if you don’t want anything to do with them!), then you’re even further up that creek without a paddle.
