Engineer stealth?

Thunderbrew.7034

Don’t forget thumper turret as well if you use it, overcharge it, detonate it, and use it’s toolbelt skill you will have quite a bit of stealth just with that then you have the aforementioned big ol bomb, healing turret detonate, rocket boots, elixir gun 4, rifle 5, or magnetic shield.

I just tested this, and overcharging it is NOT giving the stealth. I see it for
the detonation and than the toolbelt (Rumble) though.

Why the limited options in increasing font size in the chat box? I
suggest allowing a value input like most other games. As it stands
now when running in 1920×1280 or up, the font size is too small.

PLEASE make this change! I mainly say this for WvW, in where I have

With that said, it would be a simple matter to allow an option to only show

What a sad attitude. The leader boards of any game are the target market not people talking on forums. Also the target is people they can chat up in game and show themselves to be very willing to be taken. Easier to go through the front door at the invitation of the owner, and no saying on a forum that you have x gold is not an invitation.

How long have you been gaming? This was one of the methods hackers used

2) Is this a economy problem? What about the countless people who use

3) Way to many people have blinders on who are responding to this post. Claims
of “people leaving because of champ farming” is ridiculous. There are many other

playing. Problem solved.

Its seems like they made the Ele capable of doing AOE and healing, but
average at both. The whole concept of the D/D specced Ele is not
appealing to me (ie no Wizard or spell caster feel to it).

Engineer lacking in mobility?

Posted by: Thunderbrew.7034

Thunderbrew.7034

Im a new player to an engineer, but not the game. I have
leveled 3 other classes, and my it seems to me that
engineers lack mobility. Am I missing something?

Elementalist: Ride the Lightning, Signet 25% speed, Fiery Greatsword,
very easy to setup to have permanent swiftness up all the time

Warrior: Greatsword, Signet, Trait (the one that gives 25% movement for melee),
can attain permanent swiftness with this ultimate when traited and specced
right.

Rogue: Shortbow skill, Signet 25%

I understand that Engineer doesn’t have a Signet, but outside of
the Rocket Boot jump and the small swiftness buff from an Elixir,
is there a good method for staying buffed or gap closers?

I see this as an issue for WvW when speed and movement are so paramount.
Once again, just looking for advice or things that I have missed in attaining this.

Cluster Bomb question

in Thief

Posted by: Thunderbrew.7034

Thunderbrew.7034

That is not true based on what I tested. The detonation goes into
3 seperate bombs that are not AOE, and do much less than a single CB.
I went to the Mists and tested this on the most densely packed golems for over an hour.

The single CB still outdamaged the group of 5 over any detonation,
at any height.

Cluster Bomb question

in Thief

Posted by: Thunderbrew.7034

Thunderbrew.7034

I tested CB extensively in the Mists, and because of that, I never
detonate it. Compare the damage to groups of people with and
without a detonate. The single bomb does over double the damage
to up to 5 targets in the area.

When you detonate it, at any level, its too easy to miss targets completely.
Better yet, at melee range, you can spam CB.

complicated at all compared to a game like Rift where there were
dozens of builds and skill-chains.

Pick any profession, and you will find the same couple main builds
that seem to be the most effective. Any search on google can find these.
People overthink the builds in this game, when in reality, the skill of the
player outweighs “I want to make sure I have the points in the right spot.”

^^ Sorry, but defending a strategy based on “mainly works in large zergs,” is
not relevant. In a large enough zerg, based on that premise, I could run naked
and in theory live because I had the power of a 100 man zerg surrounding me.

Offhand dagger for movement is a staple, I agree. This post is about Staff though.
If you prefer running offhand D during zerg fights, on top of movement, no
problem there. All that is saying is that the Staff comes out while hiding behind
keep walls, or attacking them.

Bottom line is, staff could use some more attention in open zerg battles. For the
past week, every zerg fight is the same “run through the other players and get
to the back.” Cast staff AOE all you want, but watch how much actually misses
the targets because they are already past the point you cast.

if ur server got some well organized groups, a staff ele on either dmg build or a bunker build is a god send. a well organized zerg finishes the battle in like 1min. either ur wiped, or the enemy is wiped. they stack up, they push, smashing into and through each other. personally, even as a glass cannon, i am almost always in the front line, right behind or close to our commander leading . as u run through, u drop ur aoe in the back line of the enemy. some aoes like eruption or ice spike can interrupt the cast time by dodge rolling foward to keep mobile. glyph of the storm can be casted on the go. magnetic aura can take care of any range atks as u charge forward. its a… risky style as a glass cannon, but when the fight is over in about 1min-2min, it really doesnt matter much once u finish ur cycle.

i started wvw as a staff ele glass cannon, i am sticking to it unless some major changes get applied to staff.

So let me get this straight. You are a glass cannon ele, that stays in the front
and “runs through” their zerg while dropping AOE? If that is even remotely
true the only thing saving you is complete and total lag in large zergs, preventing
the enemy from attacking. That or they are complete newbies.

After 1500 hours in staff ele WvW at tier 1, I can assure you that that doesnt work.
You are the first target they look for.

I think OP have some vaild points for players like me which plays mostly PvE there isnt really much content if you dont enjoy things like Flame and Forst or Guild Missions which are just boring……Iam sorry but i hate that anet is focusing on those 2 things which most players hates. WvW is just a mess iam no programator but it feels like GW2 engine just cant handle huge battles at solid fps without ridiculous CPU demands so maybe next year its gonna be playable because this needs some serious work and time…..

Consider this:

Necro’s have instant AOE with marks, and the proof of that is the crazy
amount of badges they can attain.

Thiefs have an instant cast AOE, specfically Choking Gas and Cluster Bomb
at melee range.

I dont know much about the other classes so I dont have anything to say. With
that said, anyone who has spent the last week in WvW has seen the 50+ zerg
trains steamrolling the map. The battles are constantly in motion. The above
classes have the luxury of instant tagging groups at a time. Staff Ele’s have long
casting times or delays, and when over half of the spells finally do go off, they
zerg is already past it.

Yes, Staff is good for assaulting or defening a keep, but it should be much more

Racial armor and other new stuff for badges

Thunderbrew.7034

PvE will never be “endgame” in GW2 for a large portion of the player
base. Since there is no raiding, grouping with guildies and friends to
go fight large battles in WvW is what keeps many people around.

Its been stated that GW2 wants to see more people in sPvP, but there
is not enough reward to do this outside of honing your skills. Here is
what I propose:

1) Let honor points be used for gear other than just sPvP only, even if its
skins used in PvE.

2) WvW has to have a better reward for the winners on weekly reset, even
if its just badges or loot.

This game for me outside of WvW has been farming the dragon events on three
toons in order to make some money. This is going to account bound after the
patch as we all know. Ive already leveled three level 80s and have no intention
of grinding PvE on another toon since the other professions do not interest me.
Im sure the same can be said for many other players.

Maybe Im biased, but I was a huge fan of Battlegrounds in 6 years of WOW. They
were smaller scaled battles that actually had an objective compared to the
large zerg fests using portal bombs to win in WvW.

The answer to that Adane, is that the players are looking for a
quick and easy kill because thats the only way they know how to
play.

I think sPvP is a great way to hone 1v1 tactics, but many players would
never survive that format. They rely on catching people at low health,
or fighting with odds in their favor in order to win and “feel good.”

ANET Dev's that represent Thieves?

in Thief

Posted by: Thunderbrew.7034

Thunderbrew.7034

The devs posted long time ago that “a thief is new player friendly but requires
a high level of skill to actually master.”

Part of the problem people complain about, is the ability for a low skilled
player to steal (with mug) and get off a combo or two, which results in
massive damage. Now, if you are good at dodging, stun breaking, or have a skill
to use, and you know how a thief plays, you can survive the initial burst.

A big problem with the above statement was culling, in where you didnt have
time to respond or didnt even see it coming. The forums were flooded by
people crying about getting downed so fast as opposed to learning how to
counter it.

As a glass cannon ele for over 1500 hours played, I was always the target for
thieves, but learned to stick around other people and not get caught in the
open. When I did get jumped, I thought of better things I could have done
to avoid the situation.

This isnt meant to offend anyone, but from what Ive experienced is that the
overwhelmingly number of thiefs are not highly skilled. If they dont win on the
initial burst, they run. They have zero ability to enter a sustained fight. As one of
the above posters stated, the changes to stealth will weed them out.
