I found out what it is. I posted the question while waiting for
Teq and someone stepped out of the crowd with the answer:

Mesmer: Well of Eternity’s end of the spell. For some reason is amplified
in combat it seems, so you can hear it over everything else.

Thanks for the help!

This has been driving me crazy. During large battles, someone casts a spell
that sounds like a 4 second hymn like sound, almost church like if that makes
sense.

I reviewed the Mesmer portals, and druid spells, and came up with nothing.
I already play dragon hunter so know its not that.

Any advice to help me track down what that is? Sounds very cool.

To the OP in his first post, you reference Necro but keep in mind
they have the highest hitpoint pool in game AND can switch between
shadow form as damage mitigation (whatever that is called).

Ele’s have not only the lowest armor in the game, but also the lowest
HP. Despite this, they give classes like warriors (who have plate and high
HP) and rogues (who can stealth anytime things get dangerous) better
damage mitigation even though Ele in theory need more.

RNG And Precursor Drops

I would add a selectable precursor to 10k AP chest. Another at 20k.
Seems fair to me. Most of people aren’t interested in getting AP anyway.
Zenith skinpack isn’t common for a reason.

That’s the best idea I have seen yet:

1) Its a true measure of accomplishment in the game

2) It would cut down the gold selling market

Like many, Ive been playing since day 1 and have over 3000 hours played. Level
300 in WvW and play an Ele so I get hundreds of bags. Despite all of this, Ive never
seen a precursor drop.

Now that we are on the subject, commander tags should never have been
available for gold. It proves nothing with 95% of the people who have one.

This is soooo ridiculous. Every game Ive ever played in the last 12 years
had farming activities, and that’s exactly what the champ train was.

I would bet that a large majority of the people supporting this either
never did it and/or buy their gold. In addition, this will only drive
prices up for T6 mats.

Still completely dumbfounded why anyone would give 2 coppers
how other people play the game. How is farming the same dungeon over
and over any different than this?

Lets see the impact on the player base when they reduce the ways to
farm mats/money. This is will not steer people to spending more money
if they cant earn it in game, which is what this is REALLY about.

I was with WOW for the first 6 years, but don’t you think there was
very little competition and more loyalty back then? In fact, IMO that
game was one main reasons MMOs became so big (one of).

I cant help but feel that an ongoing, developing world with longevity is
being replaced with the mentality of the topic of this post. Perhaps it could be
the MMO market becoming more business profit related, than hardcore, passionate
gamers behind the scenes?

Someone a month back had made a post about games coming out
and getting the initial lump some of incoming money, and then moving
on to the next game.

This concept (if any degree of truth to it) does make me think. In most games,
the initial money is the highest following the games release. This could mean
months or a few years. After that, there has to be a breaking point where its
much more profitable to release an entirely new game. Lets stop kidding ourselves,
gaming is a business like anything else.

I think this is especially true for “FTP” games, as opposed to monthly fee games, for
many reasons. I don’t mean to infer the “hit it and quit it” attitude, but it does make
me question this topic and has a huge impact on the developer efforts put into
a game as time goes on.

Mobility warriors are way too mobile

I play all classes at 80, so I feel like I am unbiased. The best mobility
in the game, as we all know, is warrior and thief (Im talking about
how many options they have).

The problem IMO is that if most other classes are caught in the open
by zergs, they have almost zero chance of getting away. They gave every
class swiftness options, but completely unequal methods for gap closers
or covering ground.

Interesting take on wolf form, I never looked at it.

Personally, I like the Snow Leopard for two reasons:

2) It gives an invisibility, which is good for not only escaping

Abysmal Reward System

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Thunderbrew.7034

Welcome to Guild Wars 2 where the only true path to success is sitting at the trading post all day flipping goods. Sure, it’s an awful MMO but it’s a pretty good Wall Street simulator.

LOL funny you say that, a former guild mate started flipping on the TP made a lot of gold, doesn’t play anymore, instead they got interested in RL trading haha and now buy and sell stocks, thinking they could put the same methods to use, I guess we shall see how that works out,

On the topic now, FotM loot system has been broken since it started, I don’t know why your so upset, surely you know that any content in this game that takes time to complete is never worth the drops, it only gets worse the higher you go, I have ran 1000’s of fractals and never walked out with anything great, sure everyone gets the T6 mats, the fotm exotics etc, but it really is just pure RnG, my fellow guild mate that runs FotM also since the fractured update has gotten 8 ascended chests, and a pre cursor,

I guess it comes back to the old, certain accounts are tagged on creation to have higher RnG rolls than others.

If you want loot stick to doing the PRESS 1 to win events, or TP flipping.

I personally believe that some accounts have different luck than others, so I agree
with you. Before hitting rank 33 in WvW, I got two ascended chests (sentinel and
celestial) in the SAME WEEK. Meanwhile, other people in the guild who were over
2k rank had never even seen 1.

Assuming many of us will have to re-rune our armor, do
we just save over the old ones and lose out? Is it too

Ele good roamers? /grin. As a roaming skilled Thief (or any other thief) I can
tell you that an ele is breakfast when we find them alone. Argue the builds
all you want, but it means nothing until you meet a skilled player in thief vs ele.

Ive read all the posts “well a thief is an ele hard counter.” Well in line with that,
what would make you think that an ele is good to solo roam? In fact, Ill be bold
enough to say that they are probably the worse class to pick for that role for this
very reason. Oh yea, any average button mashing warrior can chase you down
also with GS movements and one handed sword #2 and go afk while they beat you.

low vitality is not the problem (just look at Guardian for reference)
our problem is SUSTAIN, which is a different thing.

It sure is PART of the problem. Lets keep in mind a guardian still has 5-7k+ more
HP than an ele AND wears heavy armor.

How do you feel about Elementalist Mobility?

in Elementalist

Posted by: Thunderbrew.7034

Thunderbrew.7034

Regardless of whether people agree on certain ability changes,
it still boils down to the reliance on FGS for mobility, which is
silly.

No other class has such a hard counter as ele vs rogue (in other words
when a good one finds you, you can neither get away or survive). You
can argue that point, but as mentioned above I also have a 80 rogue
and kill ele’s with little effort.

Necro’s have even less mobility than a Ranger, but at least that’s compensated
by the highest health pool in the game and many options at fearing or
life draining.

Still confused on why they would not compensate the lowest HP class with more
methods of escaping.

How do you feel about Elementalist Mobility?

in Elementalist

Thunderbrew.7034

Agreed, and its on a long cooldown though. I didn’t mind it as bad
when you could lay down FGS while in Mist Form, but you cant
do that now.

How do you feel about Elementalist Mobility?

in Elementalist

Posted by: Thunderbrew.7034

Thunderbrew.7034

The mobility of the Elementalist has always been a top concern
for me. My three main characters are an Ele, a Warrior and Thief.

In PvE and WvW, warriors and rogues have a wide array of mobility
options. So much so, that they can escape from any situation OR
run someone down. Even utilities like Shadowstep is a 1200 teleport
compared to the Ele 900.

Now heres my problem. Elementalists have the lowest hitpoints in
the game, with light armor to boot. They cant rely on the high HP
like a warrior, or stealth like a rogue when a situation gets out of control.
Outside of a high CD 900 range teleport and the mobility with Fiery Greatsword,
their only other option is Ride the Lightning which does nothing for the
other weapon builds unless they want to deal switch out weapons when not in combat.

I think for starts the teleport needs to have a 1500 range. Ideally add stealth
to a utility (invisibility is a casters specialty). It seems to me that a lot of the
things that are “mage like” were given to the Mesmer (the better Blink and Invisibility).

tl;dr Give the Ele more options to escape bad situations. Im prove the teleport
range and add a utility skill to give invisibility.

How would you balance eles?

in PvP

Posted by: Thunderbrew.7034

Thunderbrew.7034

Increase health pool and their MOBILITY. Its silly that the profession
with the least amount of HP has such low mobility, and yet the two
classes who need it the least have the best (warriors who are high HP
and thieves who can just stealth to avoid danger).

My lord, my thief can get away from any situation OR catch anyone.
Shadowstep alone has a 1200 teleport while the ele has a 900!! What!!?

why the regen is not 50%. Time it on your iphone timer,

Vigorous Scepter Trait not working right?

in Elementalist

Posted by: Thunderbrew.7034

Thunderbrew.7034

The trait is supposed to increase endurance regen by 50%
while wielding a scepter.

Out of combat, this doesn’t work at all even though tooltip
doesn’t state that. IN combat, and using a timer, the increase
is 25-30%. In fact, the results on this seem different each time.

Anyone else notice anything different?

(what if) Anet said: What would you change?

in Elementalist

Posted by: Thunderbrew.7034

Thunderbrew.7034

^^ Outside of opening our inventory and switching out weapons, no. I
know some people keep their inventory pulled up and minimized on
screen, but that’s a cumbersome way to do it. To clarify, I am talking
about a hotkey that changes weapons out, not elemental stances.

(what if) Anet said: What would you change?

in Elementalist

Posted by: Thunderbrew.7034

Thunderbrew.7034

Im basing this on playing an Ele since day 1, along with a
warrior, thief and engineer.

1) Increased survivability. Do events like Jormag or Teq on a warrior
and than try an Ele. Same thing for dungeons. Too much regen and
not enough burst heal to compensate for the lowest HP and armor
in game.

2) The ability to hotkey weapon sets OUTSIDE of combat. This would make
it easier to switch depending on the situation. NOTE: We can do this already
without a hotkey, just not as easy, so its not like this is something game breaking.

3) As mentioned above, make the other weapons besides D/D and Staff viable.

4) For as weak as Eles are, increase there range to 1500

5) INCREASE MOBILITY! My lord, my warrior and thief and 5x the mobility of an
ele and neither need it as bad as an ele (warrior high HP and thief can stealth
when things go bad). Outside of Fiery Greatsword to aid in movement and a
900 range teleport, they have nothing. You can argue that Necros have the same
problem, but they have the highest HP pool in game. Ele has the lowest, so there
should be more compensation in escape, map travel, game closers, etc (once again
look at the warrior and thief).

Against SKILLED players, most of the staff ele AOE is obsolete. New players
seem to think that the red circles are “healing showers,” but any good
player stays on the move and knows what to avoid.

Necro marks cannot be avoided that way, along with the AOE of many other
classes (ie thief shortbow). The MAIN problem with staff ele in WvW is
that high end guild zvz is nothing but a moving train. In other words, that
spot where you dropped Meteor Shower is already empty.

Defending/Offending a keep? Sure staff works well. I for one love staff ele the
best, but it has so many shortcomings. And I refuse to play a melee caster.

I wanted to be a staff dps ele. :(

in Elementalist

Posted by: Thunderbrew.7034

Thunderbrew.7034

I have a 80 Warrior, Ele, Thief and Engi. Out of all of them, a
staff Ele has always been my favorite. With that said, the Ele still
has glaring problems.

IMO, I think the CDs are way to long on a staff ele. They are supposed to
specialize in AOE right? Hears a news flash: My thief is WAY more effective
with AOE with Cluster Bomb and Choking Gas:

-Cluster Bomb at close range is basically instant cast
-Choking Gas can tag an entire zerg through multiple casts (which is seconds)

In addition, you can stealth when things get too hot! If AOE is not needed,
the Thief obviously shines in single target damage. I only bring this up, because
I would rather be playing my Ele, I really would. But not when another “melee”
class can do faster AOE, better single target burst, AND the best means to
escape and survive!
