IoJ is in a rut atm… we spend more time defending what we have than capping things in eb (even then sometimes our zerg is just too small to do anything). I mean we kind of have to, there are lone periods of time where we just dont have commanders on.

Yeah. WvW can be fun, but not when Anet throws you against two big zerg servers. Opponents near our WvW pop levels for equitable fights would make it a hell of a lot more fun.

I can understand the reliance on CORE to do a lot but that comes with having the most dedicated WvW players of the server under 1 guild, not sure who grieved you guys though but any and all help from CORE was always amazing and SE/SIC leaving doesn’t mean the server dying

We miss a lot of you as well. While SE leaving spurred a great deal, SIC was never really on our radar besides a target to kill. It wasn’t any one person, just a miasma of circumstance s. We did what was best for CORE and wich IoJ all the luck in the world!

LOL, at several points during the night on FA BL, for like 2-3 hours after reset, FA had like 3 guilds+some greens and had numbers bigger than ours [ONE] group. And the constant running away holy kitten. I mean we were bored guys…literally bored a few times. What I don’t get is when a group is coming at you, why do you run? You have height advantage, or have siege, you have numbers of an approximately equal or slightly greater sum…why run? FA and CD complaining about opposition size lol, that’s entertaining in and of itself.

Again. We were bored because all you did was blob. You point out that we had 3 guild groups running seperately. There ya go. If you want fights on reset, step out of your blob and fight. I mean kitten, CD was running a really organized zerg of significant size and they still didn’t want to fight you. There’s a common denominator to all these situations you seem to be overlooking.

CORE had no more than 20 people the entire night. HOPE had 18? BOMB was the biggest with like 35-40. According to my guildies who actually got in right away Yaks was running 60+ easily. Good job keeping that organized though. Takes a lot to keep a map zerg together in any reasonable shape.

Dat SBI dorrito zerg rolling FA last night. Get on Tag you NOOBS!!

I have little memory on actually rolling FA last night. Of course I wasent all there lol. Did we actually beat FA in a fight? I had a riot leading that last night, I know everyone on TS was enjoying themselves.

Yes. Abyss had a zerg rolling though there, with a lot of pugs added into the mix. Was a blast. We were constantly fighting battle after battle with FA last night, and winning. I loved it. FA kept throwing different guilds at us the whole time. One minute it was Hope, then Ret, then Core, then rinse and repeat. After about a good hour or two of this, our BL was abandoned.

Can’t wait to meet up with kittenain in 6 weeks. That matchup should determine if we both are 1st (don’t know what the tiebreaker would be), or if FA has sole possession of 1st.

Yeah it was fun. But then again, so was running around without pants on and debating what you guys were doing in Briar. I will give mad props to that portal bomb. First one that’s worked on us in a long time. Next time though, just bring your guild and not the pugs!

Thieves are so incredibly important in wvw. Guilds are very, very particular with who they want to play thief because it’s a high risk role which requires a lot of skill and battlefield awareness. It’s a tough class to play in wvw (actual wvw, not roaming) and only 2-3 are needed in a zerg. Good thieves are in high demand.

My guild is jonesing for a couple great thieves. It was my first lvl 80 but I’m honestly jot that great at it so I switched to guard which fits me so much better. The engis in my guildare loved as well as they can bring so many fields and knockdowns into the melee range as well as mess with the periphery. Mesmers are also of great use with boon stripping and now mantra builds. I dodon’t really understand where this guy gets his “only 4 professions needed” deal. Yes its heavy in those 4 but the other professions ha e excellent uses. Just don’t need as many.

That said, I am sad about the lack of viability rangers have in WvW. At least in zergish fights. A good ranger coyld be used as a periphery hunter alongside thieves I suppose. Some guilds are using them for that.

Heh, you’re the first and only guild I have ever known that wants “good thieves” because I have yet to really see any good ones in WvW. I have yet to see ANY thing pull off what I can to a 50-Man zerg in WvW and walk away from it. I tried teaching other thieves the exact same thing telling them “Hey, YOU ARE a huge benefit in a zerg, you are greatly needed, here’s what you do, ok?”

Why? Because I get sick of Thieves saying “Oh, we’re so useless in WvW zergs, we’re pointless”. No, they are pointless because they refuse to see how their class was designed and how to benefit it. “But if I can’t 1shot someone inside a Zerg, we’re useless!” <— More bad Thief talk I see in this game.

ArenaNet, hates, my, guts, with, a, very, huge, hatred, passion. They absolutely despise me. (I’m not kidding, I’m dead serious). But, that’s their problem, not mine – I just find it funny . . .

There is a time for a Dagger, there is a time for a Pistol, there is a time for a Bow and there is a time for a Sword. Thieves haven’t figured that out yet and stick to Dagger/X (or X/Dagger) and a Bow. That’s all you see: a Dagger/Bow Thief that will claim up and down that “it’s the best setup for WvW zergs” till their blue in the face.

“Oh but you should see this thief who only uses a Bow! HE IS GOOD!” Sorry, but no. No, and no.

I gave up trying to help Thieves a while back because they refuse to understand the class and accept they are one of the biggest benefits in a Zerg, more than any other class. So, I will just remain the only, and last come next years releases, thief that knew how to be effective in a zerg.

I have always said that common sense is either born in your, or not at all. It’s like watching American Idol: You can sing, or you can’t sing.

I run S/D in my guild runs while on thief. The evades are o so nice. Plus combined with a venom share build it actually hits like a tank as well. Of course I switch to shortbow if I need to spam blast finishers and such but I normally run through the think of it with the frontline then peel off to go hit some unsuspecting ele. Plus if I find the enemy commander I target him like a kitten and take all his boons! Chop the head off the snake.

I’m having a great time. Plus we have some of the best roamers. I’m looking at you SPCA.

Clearly, one or two guilds transferring are “bandwagon” as opposed to the clear lack of experience in working together that a very large influx of players to a server exhibit.

One thing I appreciated last time we fought FA a few weeks ago was how classy everyone was from FA.

[Core]. You aren’t farming anyone ‘hard’. It’s a pretty even matchup with FA’s EU timezone dominating ours. That is all.
The match statistics actually have SBI winning in NA, Oceanic, and Sea time zones. We simply have minimal EU timezone presence, the same as Dragonbrand. So FA ticks at 400-500 in EU. That’s the match right now as it stands.
The rest of the time, everyone farms the uplevel pve’ers and achievement hunting zerker builds. [core] is doing nothing special in that regard, don’t give yourself too much credit.

I’m really interested where these stats are. According to Mos we ticked in first for ppt since the Euro timeslot yesterday. We had a bad day on Monday I will give you that. Perhaps you mean in terms of fights and stomps? Maybe. Though in my experience the fights have been fairly even in terms of who wiped who.

After looking more closely at the evolution over time, which only includes PPT mind you, FA has maintained its presence on top over the week. Granted, on Monday SBI taught us a lesson when our EU didn’t push as hard to get a foothold in SBI BL. You guys did well and showed us that FA needs to not get complacent. Yes, our EU is strong and helps us a great deal, but if our NA wasn’t at least as strong we wouldn’t been able to maintain our point lead and presence in each borderland.

I will say that the bragging about farming most likely needs to stop. It’s not a farm if both sides are doing it. We will discuss it.

We joined FA because we thought it was the best fit for us concerning their culture. We looked at multiple servers, none of which were the ones people were expecting to win their respective leagues. We then chose FA. We were not concerned about winning the league, but hey, if that happens and we can help then why the hell not?

We like it here on FA and think this is what we have been missing. The people are great and the atmosphere while playing WvW is one of fun, not work.

Plus, when we joined the wider consensus was that FA was failing. People were mistaken. FA is as strong as ever.

Granted I am on FA, but we have queues every day now, which is not the norm according to people who have been on the server. Every map is now queued in primetime for at least 15 minutes for people in my guild. I know it doesn’t seem like much but it does impact how my guild organizes and moves out across the maps. Its not crippling per se, but it does effect our playing.

Congratukitteninglations! You killed a glass cannon thief with a Healway guardian running GS and Sword/focus! It only took you the entire 5 minutes and I wasn’t even using D/P to escape into stealth. Frankly, I am embarrassed. My main is a guardian. The fact that it took you that long considering I was being painfully obvious I was going for the Backstab is ridiculous. Like seriously. I’ve killed thieves with that build in under a minute if they don’t go into stealth. I was so fricken glassy that one spin to win would have killed me if you had used your pull, which was on me for half the fight! Here’s a tip! If the 5 skill isn’t in cooldown, it means it hit, even when I am in stealth! So that’s your sign to drop Symbol of Wrath, hit 5, and then hit 2 to grind me to dust. Finish me off with a 3 on the Gs and a 3 on the Sword and the laugh and siege drop would have been acceptable.

Spazz, I don’t think you were even on BP yet that night. Either way, yes we did engage them several times on their own. The first time was after they had gone through MEND. We were doing troll build tuesdays and we two-shot alaric with class cannon killshot warriors. After that we put our real classes/builds on and found them several other times. Alaric fell back to the numbers argument. The same argument he uses when promoting SIC, he’ll talk about 15 v. 40 all day when he’s wiping pug zergs but backs out when he loses 10 v. 20. Regardless, I do respect SIC’s fighting heart… it has good people. But SIC really didn’t need another kitten talker, Alaric covers that role just fine.

Tip! Make sure people get into the guild on BP who look to their sides, and behind you when doing a holding action on a bridge. Cuz I don’t think we were more obvious on our approach. Don’t get tunnel vision owning the Pug Zergs!

Depends on the night. But we always try to look for opposing zergs to fight. I would say most of the time we run 25 people. So take it as you will.

This comment needs calling out as well because it just isn’t true. SIC did not abuse people for not fighting outnumbered other than the abuse suffered by the red nameplates. It can only be said that SIC ruffled some feathers by pushing guilds to improve with concrete and constructive suggestions based on our experiences.

It was concrete and constructive suggestions. It involved things guilds on IoJ have been pushing for for weeks. That said, the person giving those suggestions was a caustic son of a kitten who couldn’t reread his posts enough to realize that no matter what he was saying, nothing was going to be taken into account cuz he was being a kitten. That’s why. End of story.

Man, the way you guys drop superior flame rams is ridiculous. When we heat BP is at the gate of something we have to mentally chop off like 30 seconds from the normal time it takes for a reinforced gate to go down. Keeps us on our toes!

Most of the time you should just sign off on that keep and go seige up other keeps. I know I move fast and I know how many rams fit at each door… where to place them to avoid specific AC’s… our flame ram mastery is through the roof.

I mean we could just abandon our keep, or we could get there and wipe you, giving more time to siege up our keep and others. You guys are siege happy when you get into a keep on our BL so its near impossible to get you out of it. Might as well try to wipe you before you take it.

IoJ is a server who faced DR a lot and then most of DR’s people transferred to SBI, who we then faced a lot. So we have an interest due to old rivalries between guilds and the servers themselves. We are just observing how high SBI goes!

To the warrior I fought outside of BP’s Bay (AnOn), I was the guardian, and I’m sorry our fight got interrupted like that, and part of me is sorry I sniped you down, but the blood got pumping and I wanted to get you downed at least! You were really good at popping endure pain at the exact time I was going for the kill and you stunlocked me enough to freak out a couple times. Good Fight!

And thanks a ton for rolling over us like that BP! I know the four guys having a couple duels must have been super important to kill!

I really never seen a server so obsessed in having sm before. Not even Sbi are that obsessive over it. Sm is going to be your downfall when you fight SoS, Mag Etc.
Also your ground forces are terrible. Even in even #s i always see Ioj running into a tower/sm and resort to ac spamming the heck out of us. Need to learn how to fight Zerg vs Zerg or you will never get better as a server.

I wouldn’t say that we are obsessed with SMC, just that we defend it as much as any other keep, maybe a bit more. I mean, it is a very nice castle!

Honestly, I would say the same of you guys about open field fighting. Tonight was a good example. In IoJ BL, BP was running a zerg of like 50-60 people and we held them just fine with about half that number (maybe a bit closer to even, I was only counting people in TS. Even with that many people, BP was dropping ACs to support them. I know IoJ likes to regroup inside keeps when we get rolled by a zerg so maybe that is what you are seeing. My guild always pushes out for a fight. I would admit our randoms need some training, but our guild groups are solid and are craving the fights ahead!

I’m sure it was mutual. Haven’t seen you guys around much. What’s your guy’s primetime?

I’m constantly using my virtues in group situations as the extra heals and stability I’ve traited into are godsends. I think you don’t get the full use of the virtues unless you really aim for them in your trait setup but when rocking the Healway build the extra 2 heals are super nice in those tight situations.

IoJ, BP, and CD had a ridiculous one Sunday night over SM. The fight lasted well over an hour and involved multiple respawns by all parties involved. We finally lost SM as BP made a huge push and cleared out SM while we had to fall back to our keep and protect a push by CD. Twas quite entertaining.

Man, don’t try to talk to them T1 and T2 guys. I though DDLG/BAGS was bad but the hypocrisy and elitism those guys exude could be used to wash the royals of the world twenty times over.

Anyways, great matchup so far! Love the fights and the epic defenses of the various keeps and SMC!

Yes, and I responded to posts that I thought concerned the servers I am a part of. I seriously want SBI to make it into Gold league so they can get their kitten handed to them. They are pretty much all kittens riding their train to the top and to see them get knocked back down a bunch would be hilarious. Plus I want to fight these so called “amazing” T2 servers and their guilds as the fights have gotten pretty bland for CORE. INC from CD has been giving us some trouble so we want more fights like that. I didn’t realize this thread was only for those concerned with gold league and to be called a baby is a little immature of you in the first place. Granted, I don’t know what I was expecting as this is the GW2 forums.

Because there is no balanced match in silver league, rather be getting stomped in gold then bored in silver.

No balanced matches? One of the closest matches is in silver league right now. IoJ, BP, and CD are duking it out during primetime and all are pretty much evenly matched. I will admit our oceanics do a lot of ppt work for us and extend our lead but during the day its a crap shoot for who is better imo. But hey, that’s just me from IoJ.

SoS played horribly against Maguuma when we fount them the other week.

SBI needs to get a high ranked match up to eat their rating and go higher. Easy match ups don’t raise your rank as much as blow outs against top ranked servers. The RNG will decide who takes sixth place, but whichever server it is, the prize is uncompetitive matches for seven weeks.

The current SoS/FA/JQ match is an example of what the average match will look like for seven weeks if SoS places in the gold league. Let the egos play it out, the rest of us just want to enjoy WvW without the stacked zerg meta and the massive population imbalances.

Because any server below rank 6 gives boring fights. Show me a guild group that runs 20 every night outside of T2, and I’ll take it back.

I’d rather fight 25 vs 80 than 25 vs 5.

I know of at least 3 guilds on IoJ that do.

Hey BP and CD! Thanks oh so much for taking SM finally. I know a lot of us were getting really bored with your guys’ attempts at taking it! I mean, the ridiculous amount of bags were nice, but holding such a ridiculously easy target gets tiring. So I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your success!

And to all you INC guys! We saw you guys bringing friends to the fight, so we thought we could as well! It’s truly unfortunate you didn’t specify numbers! But nice ninja of hills and bay. I know it must’ve been truly difficult to take our paper keeps!

It was much fun taking it from you guys. Keep bringing those kinds of numbers and you’ll do alright. To be fair though, it was not a double team. On that final push to get that ultimately ended in the cap 5 minutes later, we had to kill Crystal Desert before we could start work on the Lords Room. Like our last attempts on Saturday, CD seemed incapable of making its own breaches in SM’s gates and kept trying to follow behind us. Makes things overly complicated. But this time we got it, even with them running interference. If its any consolation to you though, we flipped CD’s bay right after.

I never thought you guys were actually double teaming. If I saw a push on SMC like that I would want to join in or attack the server holding SMC’s keep as well! It was just a fun defense of the lord’s room for me. I just ran around in circles killing the backline and spamming AOE loot. It was fun to see you guys fight each other, and with the enormous lag we had, it definitely extended our defense for far longer than it should have.

And man as long as you flip and bunker down in CD’s keeps as well as ours I don’t care. When i log in during primetime i fully expect to see our hills in red against you guys.
