Best glitch ever was the “Descent Into Madness” bug that had the falling damage cause a massive damage Chaos Storm (>15k a tick).

People ran around jumping down onto zergs and wiping the 20-40 man zergs with a group of 3 mesmers.

Unplayable. 5 years in.

aka the 1st tier problem, solution: change home server

It’s not a ‘first tier problem’.

It’s Anet forcing any server out of its tier as well as the links, which have failed their ‘beta’ test.

Between the two, WvW is very unplayable 50-90% on any server most especially during NA Prime time on NA servers.

I recently just started playing again and I’ve waited less than 10 minutes for my preferred map. Meanwhile I played on another map in WvW. All during NA prime.

Maybe switch to lower servers. I’m on SBI.

Water 2 having a blast is amazing if you already are dropping a water field on a push. You should be cycling out of it right after you cast anyways to start laying damage.

Static being smaller just means you got to get good. You can still stun or split a zerg if you position properly. It being smaller also means people can’t chill inside as easily. The best use of a static is in the middle of the zerg to catch those without stab and separate the tail

The recent stability changes to the game have really made wvw open field fights not fun. I’m not saying that the way it was before was right, or that the new design is bad or wrong, but what I am saying is its not fun.

The provlem here is two fold in my opinion. First is that you are confusing subjective opinion with objective fact. Secondly is you state your opinion as if it were fact. I, personally, find the changes, to have greatly expanded my fun when it comes to fights, open field or otherwise. By the way, why did you make an entirely new thread simply for your opinon, instead of posting in one of the ongoing threads that already exist?

What class u play? Meele? I bet u don’t The point is that meele don’t have fun at all and fights are over over long….

I play melee. I have fun. I still kill people.

Guardian or Warrior? Cos i meant mostly Warrior there, since they can’t range bomb and it is boring to w8 and w8 for comm’s engage.

It doesn’t matter. I play melee and still have fun. And the fights are about the same length as usual.

Nah, it’s just another example of how WvW is a tertiary concern to Anet.

But it does decrease the new blood coming in to WvW. Which is a bad thing.

All you need to get the Gift of Battle is 28 Laurels and 1200 badges. Badges are also received through achievment chests. Some quick math shows you only need 3500 achievement points.

Many of the guilds on gw2wvw are GvG-focused. They require a fair amount of dedication to be put into the guild and into play style.

A good way to analyse what you can do better or what you are doing wrong is to record your play and review it at a later time. This will help take a look at if you are staying on the driver, using your skills at the best times, and not getting trapped in an a enemy bomb. It also allows another look at your opponent’s playstyle. It’s all focused on getting better.

But these are perhaps what should be called “hardcore” guilds. It is entirely possible to find guilds that do not require this but also GvG. There are WvW guilds that do not GvG as well.

Does anyone else actually like the EotM map? It’s huge, lots of choke points, open areas much larger than anything in WvW borderlands, and giant keeps.

I feel like if EotM had become the new borderland instead of an overflow/karmatrain map it would have been much better received and liked.

But maybe that’s just me.

gvg war here. its a really poor choice to sacrifice dote over some extra power and toughness you get from another point in defense. there is a very noticeable difference in damage when you don’t have dote. in any organized gvg setting, the enemy melee consistently has 6-7 boons which is around 20% more damage output from yourself on average.

Protip: While builds are great and all for GvGs, they don’t really mean anything if you have bad players. HOPE has always had pretty kitten good players behind their squad. They found their builds worked for them. If you like DOTE for your warrs, then go for that.

However, the increase in damage is very situational in my opinion and could be next to useless if they don’t have boons up, which should be happening with boon strips and the like. A base power increase will always deliver more damage constantly, without any potential loss in damage as a longer fight takes place

Think of these as general guidelines, rather than must have builds.

If the population is as low as that, then you really, really don’t need to be upgrading anything.

Just cause we aren’t overflowing with people doesn’t mean we don’t deserve nice things like waypoints and double supply…

That’s not what I was implying. Look, if there is a dedicated group of people playing, then I’m sure some sort of agreement can be reached about spending gold on supply. No one person should be stuck blowing all of their gold. If there is no one to reach an agreement with, then the server is dead and I’d recommend a transfer.

At the end of the day, if you are losing money from week to week in WvW, you are doing something majorly wrong.

Wait, do T1 servers organize who pays for upgrades? God that’s kinda funny. And sad. Mostly sad.

And if that is how you decide if a server is dead or not I’m guessing any server below T1 is dead. And T1 is half dead.

You are correct Eugenides. The lowest settings have really simple animations. The tells for the skills at that level are not shown and very little can be gleamed from the animations.

It’s really only good for zerg combat.

Frankly, if you want to run with the guild, talk to them. Join TS with them. Mark their leader with a target reticle and just follow him. It’s not that hard.

If they say no, then go to a different map.

Or just keep following them. They can’t stop you. And when they all die and you are still alive, say something snarky in chat and do it over again.

Didn’t we have CDI’s to discuss ‘stuff’? Maybe they’re just digesting all that info and working on the next feature patch. It’s not like pvp nor pve (except story-related stuff) had lots of dev interaction. I’d say we’ll be getting info around gamescom and we’ll see the next feature patch by then too.

If we have to wait 4-5 more months for anything WvW related things will be bad.

Sorry, TC players, it’s too unreasonable to request that the colors change more than once every 2 months, instead you have to coordinate 300 people to 2v1 for hours on end so that you might get a 5 minute window to cap the thing you need. It’s not rocket science.

You don’t need to cap things to get the PoIs or vistas. If you don’t need the vistas all you need to do is bust into the keep, which, while difficult, isn’t something that unusual.

I like this idea, but depending on how much the loot improves, I would I worry about players kill-trading for loot.

One way to fix this would be to make the loot scale based on how long the player has been alive. I believe they do this already for WXP.
Someone who just zoned into WvW or who dies frequently would be worth less loot/WXP, while someone who has survived a long time would be worth more.

We’d get zergs hunting eachother. That would be fun.

Which is quite silly. Some unspoken player-created “rule” about not using siege in general is a self-inflicted weakness ripe for defeating them with.

Let’s be honest. It’s really Mag’s “rule”. It has trickled up and down through the tiers.

They ripped on Yaks as well. The hilarious thing is that they siege their kitten up too, it’s just that they conceal it with forcing most fights outside on the field. Capping a Mag keep or tower is like prying teeth while poisoned and being shot at.

You see Yak’s Bend getting laughed at and belittled because they siege heavily and stick to their towers. But hey, that’s what has kept them relevant for so long.

As a PU Mesmer.. I lose more often than I win. To tell the truth, 1v1 is very rare in my experience. Most of the time it’s a cowardly group of 6v1. As to fleeing at whim, Blix you obviously haven’t played Mesmer or Thief.. It’s usually the ones who don’t play a class that scream OP.

I’ll give you mesmer, as they can be tracked down pretty easily, but thief?

I can stealth with my heal and be a full warrior GS/sword – X combo away before I come out of stealth again. That’s just using heartseeker.

If I see 1 enemy, I’ll click on him and if I see the 40% condi duration food buff, I’ll simply turn my back and run away because I have no desire of fighting this bullkitten.

Are you saying…. That you only ever fight thieves, greatsword warriors and bearbow rangers?

Edit: I see a few posts of people saying they never fight condi or certain classes…. I think the OP got his answer on why people run so much, it’s cause he’s not a zerker bearbow ranger with 6/6/0/0/2 traits, obviously judging from the posts thats what it requires of our enemies before we decide its a challenging fight.

Tiresome as its the 10th condi roamer I’ve faced/seen in an hour? Yes.

I am telling you after playing in T6/7 the past four months, after having played T1-3 since launch, there is actually more borderland activity in these tiers than there frequently is in the higher tiers.

Whenever a tier 2 server has the misfortune of facing a tier 1, it’s a massive stomp. And tier 2 is where the gvg guilds congregate, so it’s not for lack of skill that they are permanently pushed off their bl and into their corner of EBG.

Hell, if you check the scores this week, there are stomps in the lower tiers already forming.

You really think you can compare the activity level of a tier 6/7 server to tier 1? Lol, just lol.

T1 has more 24/7 coverage and far more hardcore PPT players.

The situation between T1 and T2 is, as you said, different because T2 is stacked with don’t care about PPT guilds that are there for the fights and GvG. So when they do face a T1 server, the guilds aren’t suddenly going to play PPT, and the pugs vanish because no one wants to play endless keep defense. Plus the T2 servers have no interest in gaining rating and moving to T1, so the tiers are effectively locked in besides the 5% out-of-order match roll, or whatever it is.

In the lower tiers you see much more 10-20 size pugmander and guild groups running on BL maps attacking, defending, and fighting, and feeling like they can actually do something without a map zerg porting in to deal with every situation.

Do you really honestly believe that tier 6 or 7 servers would fare better against tc, bg, and jq than tier 2 servers do? Really? If a server like FA can stomp tier 3, then how do you think tier 1 servers would do against them?

The idea that lower tier servers are nearly on par in terms of population with tier 1 is just laughable. Not only does tier 1 have more people on during prime and off hours, they have more people on during the weekdays, too. Place a tier 1 against a lower tier, and maybe the lower tier can hold on for a weekend and make a game of it, but by sunday night it’s a wasteland painted the color of whatever server the tier 1 is.

Just because your server can queue EBG for an hour on fridays, doesn’t mean its population is healthy enough.

Funny how you guys talk about a healthy server, especially when you guys are the ones complaining about population issues and people not playing any more.

THIS IS MY POINT. The t2 servers arent going for PPT, they play for fights right? But when its just a massive imbalance, it degrades the experience. This is my point exactly. Even the most pro t2 guild fighting a big zerg will be stomped and tower taken.

In no way am I saying there SHOULD be map queues. I dont care about having full maps. But we need at least a small base of players equal to minimum half the enemys numbers to try to make a stand

Its kinda like saying JQ is recruiting EU because they want to win more PPT. That would be a false statement. They want EU so the people who play during EU actually can have fun and fights that arent incredibly imbalanced. Its not to say they want 4 map queues or even 1. Its to say they want more than 15 people on a tag that has to fight zergs.

End Result: Certain Timezones are completly unbalanced to the point where its become impossible to find a fight where your not dwarfed in numbers by over 50 percent. These range from OCX, SEA, Late NA, EU. There needs to be a way to somehow balance it to make it possible to have a fight that isnt ridiculous. The servers know during <x> time they will lose massive PPT, and they accept that. We honestly dont care, but when that timezone is so weak to the point where you cant even get 25 people on tag, it degrades the experience. Those timezones affect all 3 servers, so we need a WORLD solution. Not, transfer <x> timezone people to <x> server. All 3 servers have timezones that arent enjoyable to play. That should be changed imo. Its not about PPT.

Ok so pveing camps solo and then running from actual players is ok but expecting someone to fight you in wvw isn’t. Running a stealth build with no armor but tons of damage is ok or a stun burst build that keeps a person locked down till dead but Condi builds are not and if I don’t like it I should goto spvp.. I guess I could respond with if you want to Pve go to pve stay out of wvw (unless you want to fight) and all builds are viable you just have to learn to adjust to who and what your fighting . Win some lose some. Gotta love the guys/girls that need 4 friends to beat one person. Run in to then in real life too they are called punk kitten kittens. I do agree people have a right to play however they choose because they pay t buy the game so I will withdraw my statement and simply say I DO NOT UNDERSTAND why you would waste time going to a player vs player are to run from a even fight. To me no matter how bad I lose atleast I try… But to each there own I guess.

I play WvW to drop meteornados on zergs and watch big flashy numbers pop up across my screen.

I also play to go balls deep into an opposing zerg as a guardian and wade through the damage and dish out some of my own.

I often play WvW in small groups ranging from 3-10 to run around the map and have small skirmishes.

I am impressed by a well executed spike of damage, especially when I am built tanky.

I do not play WvW to run down solo players with large groups that outnumber them.

I enjoy even large scale fights and endurance tests against much larger blobs.

Notice how I never said anything about the PvE aspects of WvW?

And finally

I don’t like 1v1s because most time it comes down to builds, and the meta builds at the present are lame condi bunkers that sacrifice nothing to deal their damage. Spike specs are impressive because if they mess up I can kill them. They sacrficed survivability for damage.

And yes, I can kill thieves, because only bad players can’t handle stealth.

Edit: Also, if a roamer follows me all the way across the map and can’t kill me, you sure as kitten are getting kited into guards surrounding a tower owned by my server. And I will also jump on your body and probably drop a siege blueprint on your body. Because that is hilarious.

NA prime has quite a lot of activity for the population sizes of the lower servers. Obviously outside of NA prime this drops off, but obviously it is still fun as there’s still a ton of people playing there.

I seriously think this is some ploy to buff T1’s numbers. Like seriously, you guys created the race to the top in terms of PPT and coverage. You guys deal with it.

The delusion that Anet NEEDS to save your servers and buff their coverage is hilarious.

If anyone sees this as anything other than T1 begging Anet to plug up their coverage gaps they should be ashamed.

We need to see how FA does in T2. I’d like to see how they compete.

FA has been to T2 before. The majority of the population isn’t going to be intimidated by SoS or Mag, not when they fought them often before season 2. I’m not saying FA is going to win the PPT battle, but they won’t balk at fights. I can promise that.

Mag is home of some pretty good guild groups, FA is going to learn a lot and when they come out bruised and bloody they will learn and only then will I fear them as an SBI player

I wouldn’t mind having even 1 more map. That map is a BL map. It can rotate in and out week to week with the original. That way there is a bit of spice to the sequence and can act as a framework for the rotating in newer maps.

But yeah, I imagine it takes time that we don’t really have. Testing out siege placement and the like. But they have the framework for towers and keeps already, so its really just a matter of adapting maps they have. They could take PvE maps and adapt them to a WvW map. Keep the flavor, such as fiery, desert, or a jungle.

We experienced it on IoJ yesterday. The ring stays up and allows you to cap it even if the Lord is still alive, as long as it’s out of the circle of course. Once you flip it, the circle reappears and allows the next group to cap it in a similar fashion.

You should stop posting on the forums, you just show how little you know. I have a system that can fun any zerg content at ultra graphics, but I still would quit the game the second I get forced to WvW in a T1 server, why? Because I don’t want to zerg, it’s boring, worthless, and I think the game would be 100% better without it, but I’m also not trying to force it on everyone else since I know not everyone has the same skill level I and my guildies have in small scale fights. We know you need all the help you can get from the 40 other people around you.

PS. You can roam, small ops, ninja, 5 man, havoc and camp flip in T1-3, it isn’t zerg only. The only reason you pretend its zerg only is because you don’t want to admit using a wooden PC.

I play in T2.

2 days ago, I spent my first hour playing solo, just because I could.

I was camp flipping and looking for small fights.

Spent the next hour with my guild, we organized open field fighting with the other servers guilds, just for fun and practice.

But I wasn’t feeling it that night, so I went back to roaming.

During this next hour:

I was trebbing NET (fully upgraded) from NEC, just because I could. While a 5 man group went after NWT (fully upgraded) at the same time. While a 10 man group went after Bay (paper).

During this time, I killed a counter cata they tried to set up inside NET. I killed both a guard and mesmer who came for me, not once, but twice. During the second fight, they got a counter treb up inside NET and killed my NEC treb.

The 5 man team at NWT finished up and came over to NET which both walls and the gate were on 20% from the treb. We finished it up, they had 4 defenders inside as well.


That sums up a standard night in T2.

And best of all, I was versing ENEMY PLAYERS, not NPC’s.

I was able to do anything I wanted to. From soloing, to havoc, to small ops, to guild vs guild scrimmages, to zerging. In one 3-4 hour session I did them all.

In high tiers you can experience and participate in various forms of play style, in one night if you want to. You cannot do that in tumbleweed tiers, not even close to that.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, you don’t have to only zerg.

All of that stuff you mentioned in your PS? We do all of that too. Our computers run just fine.

Stay where you are if you’re happy with what you’ve got. Extend the same freedom to us.

The POINT of the PS was to say it isn’t only zerging. Which you’ve deluded yourself into thinking.

The difference is, I can jump in and out of any form of WvW play style whenever I want. You cannot, you have to make do with what appears that night.

Just let it go. Some people like more populated tiers and some people don’t.

The difference between the upper tiers and lower tiers is that lower tiers eventually stabilize and either accept the new style or transfer off. Higher tiers are always trying to replace players leaving or they die horrifically.

It’s hilarious to hear higher tier servers saying that lower tier servers need to do this or that to succeed when the same high tier servers are the ones constantly stripping the lower tiers of guilds or players. But then those servers recover eventually and the higher tier servers are fighting a leaking ship as more people burn out.

To be honest, the T1 mentality of WvW is the most damaging one to WvW. It promotes tryhard playing and has a burnout rate on a much higher level than any other tier.

Just let people play how they want.
