I think it would be really fun to have an attack and defend game mode similar to WvW that was maybe 15 vs 15 rather than.. Well the huge number that WvW is. This would make for some fun and interesting matches. And would also give players like me who LOVE attack and defend something to do for eternity without boredom xD
And maybe add some armor sets for doing it? or just a few pieces of armor or weapons to show you’re a attack and defend guy? haha idk. just ideas. I love the game but IMO it needs more stuff :P
Add 2-3 (or whatever works) more dungeon vendors to Lions Arch and make them sell armor that costs maybe triple (or higher) (a piece) of what other dungeon armors cost. Make it so you can use any tokens in any combination from the 8 dungeons to buy the gear.
- Example: (Regular dungeon gloves cost 180 – Prestigious would cost maybe 540)
They would have really cool styles and maybe some extra cosmetic effects. Adding some form of glow or effect to your attacks and or other skills.
This is an idea for players who want more things to work for when they hit 80, not just the insanely tough to get legendary weapons. A sweet spot in the middle would be nice too.
I agree as well.
Does anyone know the name of this armor in the PvE world or where to find it? Thank you very much in advance. (The popped collar shoulderpads)
Yeah I feel exactly the same as you. I still love the game for the most part but there hardly feels like anything to do on my main character. 1-3 more 80 zones. More unique 80 armors and weapons. maybe some Pvp like WvW on a smaller scale? Id like to use my pve character for pvp not the seperate sPvP character. Maybe we enter it in one of the 80 zones and it’s like a CM (competitive mission). like fort aspenwood in gw1.
Just some of my ideas -
I have a quick suggestion I thought of out of nowhere.
We’re supposed to be immersed into the world and have a deep pve experience right?
Well sometimes I feel being able to just freely fly around the map with waypoints is a bit.. taking from that idea.
Here’s my idea in bulk -
Less waypoints (Say a map has 18, reduce to around
Must be at a waypoint to waypoint travel.
I feel like this would make the game feel more.. real?
I mean, imo the game is fine right now, but making it so you cant fly around whenever you want is kinda.. “ehh” to me.
(Allow traveling to the closest waypoint only upon death)
Elementalist: Shortbow ( Not sure about this)
Engineer: Hammer (“Steampunk Warrior” feel)
Guardian: Longbow (CC – alternative ranged dps to Sceptor)
Mesmer: Mace ( Some kind of green lantern style slam skills – medium ranged)
Necromancer: Shield (Strong attack skills or supportive skills)
Ranger: Rifle ( Beast Mastery Skills) (I like OP’s staff idea too)
Thief: Mace (CC abilities)
Warrior: Staff (Powerful Karate kinda style)
The PvP Tactical set is found via the random Karma vendors from Straights of Devestation through Malachor’s Leap and whatever the last zone is called – I forget its name.
They all share the same skins so if you plan to transmute then getting the helm from the Straights would save you karma.
Edit – so long as the PvP tactical set you’re sharing is the light armor… I never really looked through the medium and heavy sets.
Thank you thank you thank you!!
I’ve been using this mod for about a week. It’s great is all I have to say.
(It’s been greyzoned as far as I can tell, meaning you won’t be banned for having it)
Just like the textmod from guild wars 1 I think..
I guess it would be nice to have one actually in the game, not a mod. No big dealio for me though.
That would be simply amazing.
Would be great if it came in a Canthan expansion.
New Race – Tengu
New Profession – (Whatever it’s called)
haha
I haven’t found this skin anywhere in the Trading post or anything. Anyone know if it’s from a karma merchant – anything?
Thanks in advance!
Well.. You could get the dungeon weapons if that interests you.
Well.. You could get the dungeon weapons if that interests you.TheUnNamedHero pretty much covered it.
Thank you for your replies. I’ll take what you’ve all said into consideration
Hey, I want to start off with this thread by saying – I love the game. I’ve been playing it a lot since it came out. I was waiting for it for 2 years.
The thing is:
- I got my character to 80
- Got full exotics and dungeon gear
- Did the other dungeons
- Tried crafting
- Not too interested in legendaries
- Don’t have that much fun “exploring” or getting 100% zone completion
- Not into the pvp that we have (I don’t see any goals except just “yay rank up/gear”)
- Computer isn’t good enough to run WvW smoothely during big zerg fights (50% or more of the time) Don’t see any big fun goals in this either
I tried making alts:
- Got to level 34 on a warrior / Got bored of it & Leveling
- Got to level 11 on a mesmer / Got bored of it & Leveling
- Got to level 16 on a guardian / Got bored of it & Leveling
- Got to level 20 on a necromancer / Kind of like it but the only goals I have are to get to 80, Look cool.. then what..? I’ll be in the same bored place I am on my main, a 80 ranger.
(I’ve played for at least 10 hours on every profession in pvp)
I’ve always liked the game and have been so excited for it but I have no idea what to do for fun anymore. I don’t enjoy doing hearts and things like that to level alts to 80. Most of the zones don’t feel very exciting. I do like level 70-80 because of the dynamic stuff going on kinda like a war zone in orr. but that’s at level 70.
I also really like the personal story but that takes leveling and whatnot so I can’t really do all that.
The reason I’m posting this is to try to get help. I feel like I’m missing something. I want to love the game and have fun with it but there doesn’t seem like anything to do.
Add a feature when right clicking PvP armor in the PvP locker that shows the name of the pieces PvE name counterpart. Or possibly pull it up on the Trading Post.
I’m sure a lot of people would appreciate this. I definitely would – Been trying to figure out how to get a certain helmet and pants for days. t_t
Also I’m aware that the GW2 database website exists but it doesn’t show everything, yet anyway.
I would love if my pet could have some kind of clothing to wear that is dyeable.
I’m not talking literal armor with stats. Just something your pet can wear to look cool with you and match your style. I walk around with crazy flame armor and stuff like that, and my pet’s beside me looking plain and normal just like he would at level 1.
Just an idea, Plus it would be a first for MMO’s (That I know of)
Here’s a silly concept I made for it.. I don’t know what I was trying to do. Feel free to laugh and point.
YES! +1 +1 +1 PLUS 1,000,000!!!!!
I loved fort aspenwood in guild wars 1!
Thank you so much for professionaly writing it out, Original Poster.
Please add this Anet!
Necromancers can indeed play a very decent health stealing build. You can put in traits to make your life siphoning skill from mainhand dagger steal more health. There is also a trait that makes you siphon health on critical hits.
You can even summon 5 minions and trait them to be tankyer and siphon health for you aswell. I believe the most effective way would to be a vampiric minion master, but you could also survive without minions using defensive wells and such.
Hey everybody. I’m having trouble finding the PvE items with the same appearance of these PvP items from the locker. I understand that there are other threads about this type of issue but I believe most of them are about the tribal armor.
I’ve actually seen a guy in PvE with this helmet. I don’t know about the Pants or the Greatsword though. If anybody knows where I can find these armors I would appreciate it very much
The pvp names are:
PvP Leather Helmet
PvP Commando’s Pants
PvP Forest Greatsword
Here are some pictures of the appearances:

This next one for a better view of the greatsword.

Again, Thank you very much for any help or replies.
I don’t see the harm in that, but what it does is diminish a feeling of accomplishment in PvP skill. If a guy in PvP walks up to me and says “where’d you get that cool armor?” and I told him “unlocked it in PvE”, he probably wouldn’t be very impressed, nor would I.
Generally speaking, the more badkitten the player looks in PvP, the more time he’s put into it and more skilled he is.
Yeah that does make sense. It would be nice if we got SOMEthing though. Not necessarily as epic as really epic pvp gear – but maybe a list of decent looking armor to choose from for doing PvE things. Maybe as cool as Cultural 1 (Not literally cultural 1 but that amount of coolness)
I’m the type of player who likes to pve most of the time and then occasionally hops into some casual sPvp but the only thing is – I don’t look at all as cool as I do in the PvE world. So I’m wondering if anybody else thinks it would be a good idea to somehow let you unlock sets of armor for pvp from pve.
For example: If somebody gets the Orrian Armor set – every piece. It unlocks in their pvp locker in the heart of the mists. Or maybe you buy a thingy from the vendor in lions arch for X amount of dungeon tokens that you turn into a guy in the mists that unlocks the armor set in your locker that way.
I would love to see some new PvP game modes in the future.
The biggest of all on my wishlist would be a attack and defend type of game. To get the idea think of Fort Aspenwood from guild wars 1. Wouldn’t it be really fun to have a pretty decent size scale attack and defend map? For example:
One team could be a squad that has tanks – Job is to take down the defending teams gates and infiltrate the base taking out a node or power core or something deep within.
The other team would defend against this assault with Mortars, Trebuchet’s, or themselves.
Sorry if there is already a post like this.
Here’s a video I made of a guardian scepter/torch build
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiWt09ccaDg&feature=youtu.be
Is that not a decent damage output?
Although I do understand that more variety is needed. Not everyone likes shooting slow moving orbs.
Having a crossbow for guardian would be amazing or longbow in general.
I can imagine the cool design of the skills and everything.
Hope that is implemented in the future.
Great idea! I’d love to have an in-game ocarina myself.
Ooh I never thought of that instrument! that would be great
This patch has made the game better. Now people might actually do other paths of exploreable modes. Everything that was complained about was blown way out of proportion by you. Cool your jets and change your diaper.
I like this idea very much!
The only problem is people would think it was similar to world of warcraft but if we could get past that it would be perfect.
I’d put my money on Tengu being a playable race in the future. Can’t wait! Hopefully they bring along a new profession or 2 with them.
Martial Arts Style, and Something related to the ritualists anyone?
(Since tengu are form cantha.. right?)
For what its worth, I like seeing the following:
Anybody who runs up during a dynamic event / boss and helps out with healing/damage/distraction/anything.
Guardians, because they are great at, well, not being dead.
Mesmers, because more clones = less chance of enemy attention on real players. Also, I’m a mesmer and I like seeing more of variations of what I do.
Elementalists, rangers – AoE is always useful. Also bears and elementals for more distraction.
Necromancers – more minions to distract the enemy, also helpful with condition/buff reversals. What I don’t much care about: .. Thieves, for one. Also, warriors running on greatswords/sigils. It’s not that they aren’t effective – they are. It’s that there’s just so many of them, I’m practically sick of seeing the same hundred-blades masher style.
What I actively dislike: The class that runs in, drags 5 to 7 other enemies onto you, dies, teleports away.
In other words.. It really is much more down to the player than the profession itself. Except greatsword warriors because seriously, so many.
Ah yeah I see. Thank you for the feedback.
I do realize this post was a little silly since it really is just my choice.
But yeah I’m never going to play GS warrior. There are indeed sooo many.
For what it’s worth if anyone cares, I think I’m gonna go with guardian.
This would be amazing! nice idea!
I love all of these ideas.
And I have to say – If mesmer can use greatsword I say anything is possible.
So here’s some of my own ideas:
Ranger – Rifle; I know that they wanted to keep ranger completely “natury” and whatnot. But I would honestly love having a rifle. and a good idea for it would be it’s a beastmastery type of weapon.
/////
Example: Skill 1 (auto attack) Grants your pet a stack of might and a little bit faster attack rate. The gun could do a low-ish amount of damage but make it so your pet is your main source of DPS. This could be extremely fun and I would love it to death. Maybe one of the skills grants your pet protection or a certain amount of health to keep them alive more. So in conclusion – Rifle Ranger: Beast Master Playstyle.
Warrior – pistol; A nice offhand weapon with some decently strong attacks. An idea would be: Skill 4: Deal decent amount of damage, cause 5 stacks of vulnerability and you gain swiftness for 5 seconds. 15 second cooldown
Maybe give Thief/warrior/ranger a staff for a martial arts type of combat. Not sure what type of use though.
Yeah, I know it’s my choice and all I just can’t make up my mind xD
Letting us pick weaponskills without actually changing the core game.

I LOVE this idea. +1
(not gonna get involved in the debate that seems to be happening)
but yes. my two cents- This would make the game completely perfect IMO.
peace
Got an interesting idea.
You know how in some places in the environment you can click on some sort of stationary instrument and play it using your number keys?
Well imagine that implemented into things you can equip and pull out when not in combat. Be it a harp or some kind of stringed instrument or other instrument that fits the lore. Imagine being able to pull out an instrument and play it. This could be very fun. People could form bands in the game – things like that.
Maybe you could learn certain songs from songbooks ingame and if you play them correctly you gain experience and level up in your musician crafting – who knows there’s plenty of room for realistic ideas.
For an example: Maybe you find a random songbook as a rare drop and when you play it on your instrument you gain a certain amount of xp depending on difficulty.
My ideas for the more technical stuff are:
Different skins for instruments – maybe made through some kind of crafting – Musician
Rare or exotic drops
Each dungeon reward NPC in lions arch having instruments themed of that dungeon bought with the dungeon reward tokens just like armor and weapons.
Players can turn off whether they want to hear other’s instruments so people who don’t like the idea don’t have to hear others play. Or so you can’t hear annoying people spamming a sound over and over. Or give the option to mute an individual.
In conclusion: I believe this could be a harmless way for something new and fun implemented into the already beautiful game world. And I strongly believe it would not be too much of a hassle for the programmers to create because instruments are already in the game, just not moveable and in item form.
Much love, and thank you for any positive feedback, constructive criticism, or ideas.
I’ve been playing my main character – a ranger, for awhile now.
Been thinking about making an alt but im completely stumped on what to create.
I like all of the professions, really, but whenever I make one I think to myself, “Hey that other profession looks even more appealing to my interests, forget the one i’m playing now!” This happen almost constantly as I try to make an alt, haha.
So I’ve decided I’ll just pick some based on what people like to see. What seems the most helpful to you? or must interesting to you if your teammate is a certain profession.
For example – You form a party for a dungeon and you say, “Oh cool a (blank) joined my team” Not necessarily saying I want to be support all the time. Just wandering which profession do you think would be helpful and interesting to have around. I want to play something people generally like since I pretty much like all of the professions equally.
Thank you for your time and replies
Here’s what you do my man.
Do events in orr (cursed shore 80 zone) that involve groups of people (everywhere)
Sell all blues and greens to vendors
Open heavy moldy bags – there is a chance you will get powerful blood
If you get a rare – sell it on the Trading Post. Guaranteed 20 silver
Once you’ve got a little coin – you could consider buying yourself
pirate runes to increase your magic find – more rares.
Also buy Raspberry Peach Bars off the Trading post. (they are cheap and give you 26% magic find for 30 minutes)
Then when you’re going steady with around 3-5 gold. You could start saving the rares you find for the mystic forge. 4 rares put in CAN get an exotic that goes for 2.5 – ? amounts of gold. making a profit if you’re lucky. I’ve done this 2 times and have made a 12g profit in a couple of days.
Good luck.
If there was a martial arts style profession or weapon type in general.
I would die of happiness and GW2 would be completely perfect for me.
Just saying that sense most of you have already covered most weapon ideas.
Please Anet make a Canthan themed martial arts profession. It wouldnt even have to be in Cantha since we are fighting the elder dragons in Tyria. It could be a group of people who came over on a boat from cantha and taught tyrians or something.
Don’t do it too soon though.. with Mists of Panderia comeing out.. We would never stop hearing “QUIT COPYING WOW’S MONK CLASS NOOBBBSSS” from fanboys of that.. franchise
lol.
My Suggestion: Flight in Guild Wars 2; possible future expansion(?)

I’m for it 100% Hope this gets added!
I’m alright with the pvp we have now. But I’d like to see something totally different and more unique to what the game already has. And I’m sure a lot of people would like these ideas and agree. hopefully :P
Suggestions off the top of my head:
A gladiator arena free for all type of thing
Attack and Defend similar to fort aspenwood in Guild Wars 1
Capture the flag
King of the hill with interesting moving dynamic maps or something
Jumping Puzzle Race
Boss mode (Everyone is teamed up and 1 person suddenly becomes a strong bad guy)
Maybe a zombie style mode (kind of like the corruption events in 2 of the betas)
I would also like the ability to somehow go into these other pvp’s as your pve self the same way you go into WvW with your pve self. The reason is because I’m the type of player who likes pve mostly but would like to do a casual pvp match once in awhile with the gear I have on from pve for cosmetic reasons. (I would do WvW a lot but I need a better computer first haha)
Just to be clear, I love the game and am mostly fine with how the system of tokens works. The tokens you get from dungeons are soul bound to the one character that you completed the dungeon on. I understand that this makes sense but the thing is to get a full exotic dungeon set it would take around 40 something runs. I’m also ok with this because it is indeed max stat “end-game”, cool looking armor. But it would be nice if it was possible to do the dungeon on maybe our alt and be able to transfer the tokens through the bank to the character we want the gear on to mix it up if we get bored running as the same profession in the same dungeon. I’m not complaining or anything, I’ll be completely fine if tokens are never account bound. Do you think tokens should become account bound from soulbound? It wouldn’t make it easier, we would still have to work hard but with a little more fun, in my opinion. Thoughts?
I’ve always enjoyed the idea of being a melee ranger. I’ve fanboyed over the idea for about 2 years now ever since I first got hyped for the game. Haha. I’m currently level 80 having a decent time playing the game.. currently farming most of the time to get tier 3 cultural. I’m stuck between Greatsword or 1-hand sword. I love both weapons to a certain degree but I’m the type of person would likes to choose a favorite thing and stick with it. The greatsword is great because I get a charge, a counter, a stun, and a bleed. The sword is great because the auto attack gives your pet might every third strike. You get a skill that let’s you fly out of combat for various reasons then back in if you click the skill again. And it has an evade attack.
I’m also unsure of what stats would be best. I think for my playstyle they would be Toughness – Precision – Power to be a little “tanky” and dish out some good damage.
My question is: Does anyone know of a good melee build for ranger that works really well in pve? Which weapon should I use? and what offhand if it’s sword and why?
Thank you very much for any feedback. I’m simply curious to see what other people think.
