OK, I stand corrected. I was just mashing the buttons as they became available, blindly assuming that what I was doing was actually something that would help me in my dying moments. The next time I’m in a battle to the death, I’ll know to take some time to do some light reading.

Yes, I am playing a Warrior, but I don’t have anything named “Vengeance”, so no, that’s not the problem.

But what exactly is “fake” rallying? Are you trying to tell me that if I survive “Fight for Survival” I’m actually dead and just don’t know it? That sounds pretty kittened up to me.

Added: You’ll have to explain to me what this “Vengeance” thing is all about, it’s apparently something else I’m missing.

I’ll be fighting something, (usually a Veteran, after killing the rest of the mob), not notice my health is getting low and end up in “Fight for Survival” mode. After I rally from that, I kill whatever it is I was fighting while I’m invulnerable, hit “6” to heal myself and promptly fall over dead. THIS IS SO INFURIATING!!!

If I’m doing something wrong here, somebody please enlighten me. And no, it is NOT something sneaking up behind me while I was busy, I’ve checked.

To the right of the gate there’s a dome structure with a hole in the roof. Go in there. You’re likely to have camera issues if you have a larger character, so keep jigging around and aim for pale purple.

Make sure you set your particular traits to mitigate falling damage. Even doing this puzzle correctly, you will have to take some nasty falls, so be prepared.

Another tip: Unequip your armor, you’ll save a lot in repair costs.

It must have been some sort of temporary glitch. After quitting the game and waiting several hours, the icon was there when I logged back in.

As far as using the chat, I feel a bit uncomfortable begging for help after being killed. Has some sort of etiquette developed for this situation in the game?

I don’t know if this is something new, hadn’t really noticed one way or the other before, but it’s an issue for me now as I’m playing on a lower level, working on map completion and there’s a severe lack of other players. When I see that someone is in trouble I’ll go to their aid and it seems others do the same, but when people can’t even tell that you need help and you’re in an unfrequented area, you can lay there forever and nobody will come to save you from the ridiculous waypoint costs.

I know, I know, I should be playing in a group, but few seem willing to play the lower levels anymore.

in what way is it not working? if you have the wrong type it will not allow you to drag the item in, if you have one of the items equipped it will do nothing when you transmute

Wait, WHAT!?! OK….., it makes sense that you would have to unequip items before you can transmute them, but that didn’t occur to me and I sure don’t recall any instructions in the game to that effect. THANK YOU for pointing that out. I should have found this out earlier, but I thought it a waste of effort to be changing stuff until I got my hands on exotic gear. (My final loadout? Very possibly, as most of the “special” gear doesn’t look terribly attractive.) If nothing else, I learn something new about this game every day!

Note to Devs: Maybe you could have a note displayed on the transmutation panel to the effect that only unequipped items can be transmuted, as a help to the uninitiated.

They are definitly working, I transmuted my items yesterday. Are you sure you’re using the proper transmutation stones for level 80 required items?

The fact that I reported the typo on the Fine stones might be a CLUE that I was referring to them. Although I probably should have specified it was the Fine stones that weren’t working for me. I just assumed that if the Fine stones didn’t work, the regular ones weren’t working as well. My bad, I guess. I don’t have any of the regular ones available to test anyway, I got rid of the ones I had as they are of no use to me now.

BTW, I think I would notice any warning that pops up when you try to transmute lvl 80 items using the regular stones. I guess that “good” I get after selecting what I want to keep says something like “bad” or “invalid” instead, I don’t know, but I WOULD notice that it didn’t say “good”.

I was hoping this latest patch would fix the transmutation stones, but alas, those hopes were unfounded. I’ve got 5 items taking up space in my inventory while I’m running around looking fugly. When will this be fixed?

Also: the tooltip for the “Fine” stones misspells transmutation as transmuation

In medical terms, bots are symptoms of an underlying disease. That “disease” being people buying gold from 3rd party sellers. The only feasible solution I see is either make it impossible for people to actually buy gold or to ban/punish those people who do. If you eliminate the demand for gold, you eliminate the reason for the bots’ existence.

Arenanet has no power outside of Tyria, they can’t make it impossible unless they decide to cut the mail system. But then, RMTs also get a lot of cash by selling characters and character leveling programmes. I believe they already ban people who buy gold, it’s just not always easy to detect.

I’m not at all familiar with how items in the mail get transferred to your account, but I would think ANET would have some control over said transfers, seeing as the accounts in question are in their game. At the very least they should be able to monitor transactions of this sort.

BTW, is there any legitimate reason for someone to be transferring things from the mail to their account? Otherwise, I don’t see why it’s even possible in the first place.

ANET is always looking for an “automatic” solution to whatever problem they are addressing, something simple they can set and forget. In this case, they’ve adopted an algorithm that is way too simplistic. This needs to be fixed as it’s obviously affecting innocent players.

In addition, an effective LFG tool needs to be developed. But considering all the other problems ANET is dealing with right now, I’m not expecting to see one anytime soon.

No one fights Underwater Bosses

I really like the underwater areas, but it’s a lot easier to die down there. It appears most people have realized that and and don’t go underwater unless they absolutely have to. And because there’s so few people underwater, when you do die, you’re not likely to get revived, which is doubly discouraging. There’s some balancing that needs to be done and until that occurs it doesn’t seem like the underwater areas are going to be as popular as they deserve to be.

I'm tired of being "suppressed"

I’ve been trying to hook up with a group to do the AC dungeon but it’s really hard when I keep getting “Your message was suppressed due to excessive messaging” when trying to tell someone I’d like to join their group. I assume this is to “suppress” gold sellers from spamming the chat channel, but I think the settings need to be tweaked a bit.

Fight for Survival aftermath: buggy?

I have noticed that after I “Fight for Survival” successfully and the invulnerability wears off, that my character seems to be particularly “delicate”. All it takes is one hit to kill me even if I’ve healed myself and my health is back to halfway. And in many cases, even with all the enemies dead, I will still die, for no reason that I can fathom, even after healing myself. As you might guess, I find this rather irritating. Does this happen to anyone else?

The moose has nothing to do with it. That POI isn’t bugged, , it’s just underground. Hopefully that’s enough of a hint!

Character renaming

I have become dissatisfied with the rather mundane choice I made for my character’s name. Other than starting a new character (and losing all my progress), the only recourse I’ve been able to find is paying NCsoft $15.00 for a name change. This charge seems rather excessive to me. Is there any other way to do this?

I think it’s disabled on purpose. Part of the event included gambling on the outcome of the test launches. Unfortunately, many people (including me!) thought that the gambling was required to continue the event. (Putting your decision on a timer didn’t help any, either) The big problem was the size of the bet you had to make: 50 silver. At the time my bank account had just broken the 1 gold barrier and losing 2 bets left me with spare change. I just about punched the screen when the launcher suffered a “misfire” and the NPC says “Oh, didn’t you read the rules? Misfires count.”

The launching sequence hadn’t been triggering for several days previous and then to lose all your money when it finally worked left me angry for days afterward. Hopefully they will change the betting amount to something less disastrous (like 50 copper) or eliminate the gambling mechanic altogether. That won’t get my gold back, but at least others won’t be left with the feeling that they’ve been screwed.

I haven’t quite gotten used to all they’ve done with the underwater areas of this game and forget to check there. A lesson learned.

I’ve reported this before but even after the today’s update these two unidentified points of interest STILL fail to activate (if that’s the right term) preventing me from completing two maps. Very frustrating!
