So frustrating! I finally get some time to play and the game won’t load. It keeps timing out with Network Error: Code=1083:5:7:1595:101. And whatever is causing this seems to be affecting the forums as well. It took quite a while to log in here and get this posted.

I don’t get a black screen, the game client just disappears so I’m looking at whatever is on my desktop. Then it comes back after a second or two but it’s very disconcerting as I think my game has crashed.

Going underwater counts as a weapon swap so you need to have bloodlust or corruption sigils on your underwater weapons as well otherwise you lose your stacks. Been like this for a while now.

I have one of those “higher-end machines” and was enthused to see what the enhanced graphics might look like. But I thought we had gotten past the point where we had to edit .ini files and the like to enable game “features”, eh?

I would venture that this is related to the Hall of Monuments bug/exploit that was addressed in this patch. Achievements and titles gained by this were supposedly removed. It appears this “fix” removed a lot more than that and affected way more people than intended. Hopefully, and I do stress hopefully, we’ll get this resolved quickly and everything will be set back to where it was.

I’m not quite sure why you would post a link to a thread about a different bugged event, other than illustrating that Anet’s definition of “soon” is not exactly the same as mine . Or perhaps it’s to show that once a problem is identified, fixing said problem takes longer than one would expect. But I think we know that already.

Ok, Ok, it does show that there are at least some people working on bug fixes, but it’s still disheartening that said bugs, unless they involve an “exploit” that gives a player more stuff than they’re supposed to get, take so long to be resolved. Is this due to the code itself being very complex, more problems than people to work on them, or a combination of the two? Who knows?

I can confirm that this achievement is unobtainable at present. This “champion” just lets you kill it, the attacks and antidotes are completely missing.

I know you people are very busy with all the new stuff coming out. I just hope there’s still a few people available to work on things like this. It’s very annoying and terribly frustrating when you’re trying to finish off stuff you’ve skipped or missed and then you find it’s broken and can’t be done.

In my case, every time I click in the search box, it switches to the currency exchange panel. Pretty hard to enter the “I am Evon Gnashblade” code, eh? Or do any sort of search at all for that matter. Not to mention that all the elements are way too large and the way the items are displayed is messed up. Why can’t we have a patch that doesn’t break something, especially something as important as the Trading Post?

The “rubber band” variety like you report means the client and server are not communicating and if it gets bad enough you get disconnected. This is the problem I’m working on understanding.

In the short run, just in case you are getting traffic shaping from your ISP, try, as an experiment, using “/clientport 443” on your command line. This moves you away from our standard port 6112 which some ISPs associate (incorrectly) with torrents. What happens with port 6112 is your traffic will be fine until you hit a zerg, then your internet traffic takes a big jump, and then (in some cases – not necessarily what is happening to you) your ISP or another one along the line will drop a lot of your traffic and/or disconnect you because they think you are serving torrents.

If you happen to be connected to a large torrent swarm with lots of seeders, it’s very possible to max out your bandwidth and it’s very obvious to the ISP that you’re downloading something. THIS is what gets throttled, not the upload, which in most cases is a small fraction of that. Throttling is used to ease network congestion by limiting download speeds, as in the case of Netflix (in lieu of actually upgrading the network itself, which would hurt their profit margins), NOT to prevent torrent usage. As the bandwidth used to communicate with the ANET servers is negligible in comparison, your “torrent” theory doesn’t hold much water.

Addl:
Server activity may indeed spike, (that’s the problem, eh?), but my “internet traffic”, as you call it, is unaffected. In other words, it doesn’t appear that the lines running to the server are the problem, it’s the server itself that’s acting up.

WvW Lag March 2015

Just now I was trying to play on our EBG map where there were several large zergs running about and the experience was simply horrible. This isn’t the skill lag like we endured in the past where you would try to fire something off and your skill bar ended up pulsing like some sort of psychedelic light show but you could still run around. This is the “rubber-band” variety, where people behind you are suddenly in front instead. Or you’re in a fight, the game stops and then everything fires off at once when it catches up.

If you’re in the hammer train, no big deal, you just run around spamming #1 like nobody’s business, but if you’re ranged like I am, you can be off to the side firing at a group and then zap!, they’re right on top of you. Throw the disconnects into the mix and needless to say, the “game experience” is not very enjoyable. I don’t know what’s changed with the servers, but it certainly is a change for the worse.

so in short :

During the first tournament two 500 man WVW guilds disagreed on the match ( one wanted to throw the match or they would leave ,the other to win the match or they would leave )

They lose the match and one guild leaves .

Then afterwards the other one leaves as well .

Now lacking coverage , SOR kept losing matches causing them to sink down the ladder,and in turn, caused more and more guild to leave , until finally they where bled out at the very bottom .

Have i got this right ?

In a word, NO.

What happened is that in Week 2 of Season 1, BG “encouraged” a very strong Russian guild (ZDS, if I recall correctly) to transfer over. Due to time zone differences, they engaged the weak, but up until then adequate, night crew and totally obliterated them, nightcapping SoR something fierce, throwing the server into a tailspin. There was no recovering from this, and most of the big WvW guilds on SoR, wanting to play on the “#1 server”, left for greener pastures.

This left the server severely weakened. As the glicko ratings don’t track very quickly, when Season 2 rolled around, SoR was placed in the Silver League when really they should have been in Bronze. Unsurprisingly, they were totally outmatched, losing every round and placing dead last. Also unsurprisingly, this lead to a further exodus of the remaining WvW guilds, and a general lack of enthusiasm for WvW on the server.

It has been a struggle, but lately SoR has seen something of a resurgence, but still lacks coverage and remains very vulnerable to nightcapping.

They can call HoT an “expansion”, but that’s quite a stretch. In terms of content, I think it’s much better described as a large DLC pack. My guess is a $14.99-$19.99 US price range. I would be dismayed if they charged more than that. (I would still get it, dismayed or not, LOL!)

This has been happening to me ever since the patch hit. When the game needs to do a completely new screen draw, like when you go thru an Asuran Gate, there’s a chance that it will black screen with a blinking blue title bar just taunting you, locking up the computer in the process, the only recourse being a reboot.

It’s occurred several times today. Just now it happened when I was trying to get to LA via the Mists. Didn’t think I was going to get back in the game as it then proceeded to black screen 3 times when hitting the PLAY button on the launcher and once on character select. I’m finally back in, but who knows for how long.

I don’t know what all was in that huge patch, but whatever it was, along with all the other things it broke, it certainly has made the game less stable as well.

Unless your computer is completely locked up or you’re still on dial-up, the problem ISN’T on your end. Lag occurs when the game server cannot process the incoming commands “on time” and they are buffered instead, making for a sub-optimal gaming experience.

For whatever reason, the GW2 servers don’t seem to be able to handle the load they could just days ago. Tonight the lag in WvW was simply horrible. There was even lag in EotM and I’ve never seen it there before. I haven’t done any PvE, but if it’s happening there as well it sure seems like they made some recent change and that change degraded the servers’ performance game wide.

I was running with a large group on SoR earlier. Pretty much everybody in the TS channel I was in was having issues with lag/rubberbanding but apparently they were willing to put up with it. But with everything jumping around so much you couldn’t get any hits to register (meaning no loot) and having to log back in and run back to the group after being DC’d every 10-15 minutes or so made the game completely unplayable for me.

As everyone knows, heavy snowfall impedes the propagation of internet waves through the Æther, so maybe once the weather clears up the situation will improve.

To all the guys doing the math in here: They know the numbers are unrealistic. I can’t be bothered to find the exact post, but when this was discussed over 2 years ago some dev stated the numbers were placeholder numbers used for testing purposes, and were never supposed to be in the final game. Somehow it was overlooked and now it’s hard or even impossible to fix.

They change the daily achievements on a regular basis with no apparent problem. They’ve added new collection achievements. Each LS has new achievements. But it’s “hard or even impossible to fix” WvW achievements??? Tell me another one, you’re killing me.

It shouldn’t be any more difficult than changing the numbers in a table somewhere in the code. The question that has people perplexed is WHY these ridiculous achievement numbers haven’t been changed after all this time and ever so many complaint threads on the subject.

As I recall (I could be misremembering), GW2’s launch was announced 2 months in advance, somewhere around the second Beta Weekend. That gives a hint of a window in which ANet feels confident enough something is ready to actually give a specific date.

Let’s hope so. “When it’s ready” is how you answer little children when they are bugging you about when dinner is going to be ready, not how you respond after making a big deal of announcing a major expansion to your game.

Obviously, they want to build anticipation for this, but I’m not sure how being overly coy about the release date works in their favor.

I’m just curious what other people think of this tactic, especially as the server involved is way ahead in PPT. (Yes, I know there are other exits, but that’s not the point, is it?

It’s a shame, but it’s a fact of life. This game just can’t keep up with all the stuff going on during a large encounter like Tequatl if you’ve got your graphics set to ‘high’. It might not look as pretty as it should, but setting your graphics to ‘best performance’ will at least allow you to score the loot.

Other items in the Gem Store that have limits on how many you are allowed to use will have a “You can buy X more at this price” notice or a “You have already purchased the maximum number of this item” notice. But with Bank Expansions, you can buy these even if you have your bank maxed out.

Sure, you should check first, but if you see they’re on sale, nothing prevents you from making an impulse buy of an item you consequently find you can’t use.

No sarcasm. Just because you cannot think of a reason does not mean that there aren’t reasons that other people may have for wanting to remain on that item information pop-up post-sale. I have two off the top of my head that are related to making money that I will not share. I’m sure other people will have more than that as well.

The point is, it is working as intended. Don’t like the additional ‘OK’ button instead of only having the ‘Close’ button like before? I gave several methods of closing the window. If you insist on hitting ‘OK’ and expecting it to close the window instead of hitting ‘Close’ to, you know, close the window, there’s nothing I or anyone else can do to help dissuade you from that behavior.

I must have missed the great clamoring to change the previous behavior that let you get out of that window with the least amount of effort. If there really was such a demand, it would make a lot more sense to change the CLOSE button to a BACK button to accommodate secret filled Masters of the Trading Post such as yourself.

If it is intended behavior, it changed with this patch.

Hitting ‘OK’ has been behaving this way since the initial TP 2.0 update, it is not new.

However, what is new is that you are no longer forced to close the item information pop-up after completing a sale if you happen to have no more of that item left to sell.

Previously:
Sell some of an item – have the ‘OK and the ’Close’ buttons available

  • Could choose to remain working in the pop-up by hitting ‘OK’
  • Could choose to close the pop-up by hitting ‘Close’

Sell all of an item – only have the ‘Close’ option.

  • Unfortunate if you wanted to continue working in that pop-up window for some reason as you were forced to have to close it.

With today’s update:
Sell some of an item – have the ‘OK and the ’Close’ buttons available

  • Can choose to remain working in the pop-up by hitting ‘OK’
  • Can choose to close the pop-up by hitting ‘Close’

Here’s what happens: I click on an item I want to quick sell in the TP – click ‘sell instantly’ – click ‘ok’ in the green ‘Success’ window – instead of going back to the list of items in my inventory, the ‘Sell’ window for the item I just sold is still there even though I no longer have any of that item left to sell.

Of course, you can just click ‘sell instantly’ again and ‘ok’ on the red ‘Error’ window to clear it, but why should you have to?

Update: GOT IT! (just got it in fact lol). Glitching inside the rock is a short term fix, that does work – but this really needs fixing properly!

I’ve been catching up on my Dry Top achievements and I run into this. ARRRGH!

Defaulting to “Highest Buyer” instead of “Lowest Seller” eliminated one unnecessary click in the quick sell process. Defaulting to the MAX position on the quantity slider would eliminate another. Make it so!

Glad this topic got a red post, letting me keep a little spark of hope for the TP.

Unfortunatly things got worse for everyone selling on the TP, not just power users.

Let me give an example: after a fractal run one usually ends up with quite a lot T5/6 mats and may be some profitable blue’s and green’s and major runes. So what I did til 09/09 (and looking at the recent feedback a lot of other players aswell) was:
- open inventory
- right click on an item I knew I can net some money with on the TP (e.g. 7 T5 blood) and select “Sell on TP”
- checking if estimated profit is to my liking
- clicking on “Sell instant”
- select next profitable item (I really liked the way your inventory was shown in the old TP)
- rinse and repeat until everything is sold

Let’s compare it to what it is like now:
- open inventory
- right click on an item I knew I can net some money with on the TP (e.g. 7 T5 blood) and select “Sell on TP”
So far- nothing changed. But now the fun begins:
- change from the buy panel to the sell panel by clicking on the small square next to the highest bidder
- drag the quantity bar to the far right to sell all 7 T5 blood, hoping the highest bidder is actually bidding for 7 or more units
- only seeing the actual price and what fees and taxes will be charged but not how much gold I will actually get, forcing me to do the maths manually
- click the sell button
- being forced to click the green “Succes!” Window
- sigh deeply
- select the next item (from the now terribad inventory display in the TP; using the “I am Evon Gnashblade” command does help, but it’s yet just the other extreme)
- rinse and repeat

So as far as I’m concerned (and I’m by no means a “power user” or “TP flipper”) the new way of selling is much less comfortable and takes longer than before.

My thoughts exactly. Quick selling stuff from my inventory as the first step in clearing by bags after a run is my primary use of the TP. This process has now become overly cumbersome and time-comsuming. I just want to see if a particular item can be sold on the TP for more than the vendor price and then do so quickly. The old system wasn’t perfect but this is so much worse.

Champion loot bags in large groups

It’s obvious that they didn’t consider all the consequences involved with the large numbers of people now participating in the World Boss events. The stats on many events haven’t been properly adjusted and with so many people attacking one target, it dies a LOT quicker than before, ensuring that not all those involved are able to get in enough hits to qualify for the loot, try as they might. Being in a group helps, but it’s certainly not a sure-fire solution. From chat comments, this appears to be a common complaint. Hopefully we’ll see some tweaks soon.

As far as champ loot goes, ALL champs should drop loot. If they’re not going to drop loot, they shouldn’t be called champs, simple as that.

Oh, this has been mentioned before but I have yet to see any Dev comment on it. It’s particularly irksome when the mesmer involved gloats after trolling the event. It’s a real shame that we have a situation where one person can ruin the event for many.

Is it really all that difficult to change that particular attack to one that can’t be reflected with such devastating effect? I would hope not. I just don’t understand why this hasn’t been addressed yet.

In some cases, lots of people is a good thing, in others, not so much.

I used to enjoy doing the FE when only a small group of people would show up. You had to keep dodging around, trying to stay alive, judging when it was safe to rez people while continuing to get hits in. Now, with the huge crowd that shows up, it goes down so fast you barely need to move before it’s dead. If all you’re looking for is the loot, no problem, just stand there hitting #1. It’s not much of a challenge any more.

As far as a challenge goes, it can also be one to get in enough hits, as too many people can prevent you from collecting any loot at all. In the last Modniir Ulgoth event I did, with so many people there I only got a drop from one of the three champion war beasts and seeing as Modniir himself has so little health left where he appears I wasn’t able to get in enough hits to get any credit or loot for killing him. It doesn’t help that you can’t even see where those little tornado things that keep knocking you down are any more because they’re masked by the crowd.

No doubt we’ll see some “tweaks”. When world bosses first got their bonus chests, they went down pretty fast with a moderate amount of people, but apparently that was unacceptable, so they all got HP boosts and added mechanics to make the fights tougher/longer. Now with the megaserver in place, it’s gone back to burning most of them down rather quickly. I’m thinking that won’t last for long.

On the topic of blue backpacks, there is the Fractal Capacitor, even though it can be a pain to get if you don’t do Fractals.

There’s also lightning / Wind catcher for purple / blue

I’m lucky enough that I’ve always loved Turquoise colors, and the moment they released Cyanide Dye, I instantly bought it.

I apologize if I come off as offensive, I don’t mean it.

I already have that purple lightning catcher. It’s very nice but I think you would agree it hardly compares to these spinal blades. And there just isn’t enough time in the day to do the LS events, farm for mats, spend a lot of time in WvW and do a bunch of fractals as well, so I don’t think I’ll ever lay eyes on one of those capacitors.

And I did preview the Dynamic blades but the image I viewed did not accurately portray how green it actually looks.

The point I’m trying to make is that there isn’t a whole lot of difference between the appearance of the Dynamic and the Synergetic blades.

There’s a Red Knight and there’s a very nice red spinal blade. There’s a Green Knight and there’s a very nice green spinal blue. There’s a Blue Knight and there’s… a different shade of green spinal blade. Do you see what I’m getting at?

If you want to equip one of these new blades, your color choice is red, yellow, and two shades of green. If your outfit matches those, I’m sure you’re quite happy. If you have a blue or purple outfit, not so much.

Sorry, but a lot of people like the turquoise. I’m pretty sure it’s the only turquoise one in the game too.

Your have to remember that your not the only one playing GW2

Oh, I’m sure there are plenty of people who like the turquoise, but they probably aren’t the people trying to match the “blue” backpiece with a blue color scheme on their character.

And I doubt I’m the only person playing this game with a blue color scheme on their character.

I crafted the Dynamic Tempered Spinal Blade backpiece for my blue themed warrior. Imagine my dismay when my creation turns out to be a decidedly greenish TORQUOISE instead. What’s up with that? If your character has a red or yellow theme, you’re good to go. Green themed characters get TWO color choices, a hard green and a soft green. But if your character is blue themed or especially if you have a purple color scheme you’re left out.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the “Blue” Legendary Knight sporting yellow accents, the “Green” one having red accents and the “Red” one having faux blue accents. Is somebody at ANET colorblind, perhaps?

BTW, why do these things wag back and forth so much when you run? It’s like they’re on a swivel. You could get seasick on a long trek.

Don’t get me wrong, I think these things look awesome (if they match your particular color scheme), but like so many other aspects of this game, the implementation is a bit off and could be improved.

Shows you how much I know about crafting, eh? It’s a good thing there’s a wiki with over 26 THOUSAND articles and who knows how many other websites explaining how to play this game. Guess I should have spend some more time studying before actually trying to do something that seems simple. I don’t know how I got the idea that recipes were account-wide. Maybe it’s that a character with no crafting at all can “learn” a recipe that it’s utterly incapable of using might have led me astray.

I bought and “learned” all 3 Gift of Blades recipes to make sure I had them (and clear inventory space) on the toon I’m using in Lion’s Arch. This toon isn’t a crafter but I thought recipes were account wide. My tailor is the only armor crafter I’ve leveled to 500 so far but the recipe doesn’t appear by the vision crystals or anywhere else on the crafting menu. I hate to think I wasted my time and gold for nothing.

It looks like I misunderstood the requirements of the achievement. Somehow I read the description and thought that you needed to do ANY 3 escort missions, when I should have realized that since there are 3 separate missions, you need to do EACH of the 3 missions to get the achievement. It was probably obvious to others that this was so, but I guess I’m not that clever.

Or could it be that the description MIGHT have been a little clearer? Am I really that dense that I didn’t catch on right away or did others have to go looking elsewhere to figure out what they were doing wrong?

Vigil Field Supporter achievement bug

I’ve done several of those Vigil Escort missions from beginning to end and haven’t gotten credit for them. This is after getting credit for the first 2 I did. And BTW, why isn’t there a “Living Story” section in that Bug Report menu? Trying to figure out what category this bug belongs in the existing choices is a bit exasperating.

Good job with the QQ’ing, people. There’s finally a good looking skin available (other than that Mad King outfit that I would have bought if it had been an armor skin and not town clothes) and now due to a bunch of fake outrage by people who weren’t going to buy that skin no matter what it looked like, I can’t get it at all. Good job, indeed.

It didn’t bother me that it was based on an existing design, it looked pretty sharp, especially compared to the other stuff on offer. I was going to wait until I leveled up my latest alt to get it, but now all I can do is wait and hope that its’ replacement isn’t a total mess. Once again, GOOD JOB!!! (if you didn’t notice, the sarcasm is set to 11)

And you couldn’t make the in game version of the armor you loved so much for… reasons?

How exactly am I supposed to put flame/particle effects on armor? Is there some newly introduced level in armor-crafting that I don’t know about? To make the point obvious to someone like you, I’m not “in love” with the base armor but I really like the armor WITH the effects. And now my choice to buy that armor with those effects is gone.

Screen just went black

I manage to get into WvW on reset night. Just 10 minutes into it, while running up a Z ramp with the group I’m with, the screen just goes black. No battle, no skills firing off, just running up the ramp – the screen goes black. And yes, I remembered to set my graphics to crappy, oh, I mean ’best performance".

And after quitting and restarting, surprise, surprise, all the BLs are queued up, meaning I won’t get back into WvW for hours and hours, if at all tonight. Thank you ANET, for such a wonderful game experience, words just can’t express how I’m feeling right now.

I’ve had this game crash on me before, when I’ve forgotten to lower my graphics settings and a big battle erupts, but I’ve always had a dialog box pop up when it does, so this black screen thing is something new for me. I just hope it isn’t a portent of things to come.

hyleks don't count as mercenaries?

I did that “Defeat the hostile hylek” event in EB twice last night and once again today and not once did it count towards the Mists Merc Camp Vanquisher achievement. Is there some other event involving the hyleks that does count for the achievement? Do only the ogres & dredge count as mercenaries? Or is the achievement just bugged?

I’ll add my 2 cents worth!

Jumping puzzles should never have been a part of WvW in the first place and making them a part of the meta just compounds the problem. The main problem is what I saw last night, a guild group of 20 or so was in the JP trying for the achievement taking up spots needed for fighters in a very close match-up. A bit detrimental to the servers’ ability to compete in League play, eh? Maybe the other servers are experiencing the same problem and it all balances out, no way of telling.

Seeing as the Devs love those JP’s, it’s really no surprise they included them in the meta but perhaps they could have been combined into one achievement instead? A bit of advice to those PvEers – you’ve got 7 weeks to complete this, you don’t need to get it in the first week – hold off till there’s an easier match-up when this doesn’t hurt your servers’ chances in League play.

I’ll echo other posters’ sentiments about no love shown for defensive events. Defending your stuff is an important part of WvW. Clearing the enemy from your Garrison after they have swarmed the Lord’s Room is as much an achievement as taking it in the first place. Why this aspect of WvW play was ignored in the meta is beyond comprehension.

Apparently you have to be on siege equipment to get the Demolition Expert achievement. Most people hardly ever get the chance to use siege equipment even before it counted for the meta, good luck getting on some now. If this was balanced out with more participation friendly events (defend the keep, perhaps?) it wouldn’t be so bad but as it is it seems like it will be hard to achieve.

The Merc Camp achievement has problems as well. Not only does it force you into EB which can have a queue even when other borderlands don’t, making the chances of getting in even more iffy, capturing those camps is more of an afterthought than an objective in normal play. You take those camps on the way to another destination if you’re not in a hurry. This certainly can disrupt things if you’re rushing somewhere and people stop to take the camp instead.

The Castle achievement might be a pain as well. You have to be in EB. You will probably have to spend a lot of time in EB, as taking Stone Mist is hardly a regular occurrence. The question is, will you be able to get in when you have time to play? The only saving grace is that it only has to be done 5 times.

That “Yak Slapper” achievement might be difficult as well. Small groups probably have a better chance at this. If you’re traveling in a large group, unless you’re at the front of the pack those poor yaks are long dead before you get a chance to get a hit in. While denying supply is important strategically, if there are a bunch of people just running around trying to get those yaks it could actually prove to be detrimental to the overall effort.

More like a quarter’s worth, didn’t realize I was going to carry on for quite so long…
