I believe it was said once that some choices would have relevance in expansions, so maybe this is something to do with that? A slow burner that will be picked up later on or something.
The only problem with this that I can see is that the dance is very FotM. Why would ANet add such a specific item to the gem store when they could instead add dances that will have a little more proven longevity?
If we get more dances, I would like to see some more classic (not as in ballroom dancing, but as in long standing proven to remain relevant) dances before fad dances are added. Sure, it would be fun at the moment. But are you really going to be using that dance in six months when the next craze rolls around? Are ANet going to be selling that dance then? Or would it maybe make more sense to, if they are going to sell extra dances, sell ones which won’t be out of date so soon?

A couple of points – Guild leaders can already decide which ranks can invite members, along with who can deposit/withdraw from the guild bank.
As for forcing all characters to represent the same guild – doesn’t that rather defeat the point of multiple guilds? You say you are in favour of it and then say something which appears to contradict that. I’m not sure I follow your point, could you explain it a little more clearly?
Personally I don’t see a problem with the way multiguilding works now, though a “last online/representing” timestamp would be helpful to distinguish between people who are inactive and people who simply log in at different times to you.
I believe ANet mentioned in the past that they had staff looking into dueling, and as a feature that would likely be added post-release. NPC chat can also be turned off by clicking the options icon in the corner of the chat window. It’s one of the toggle options there.
At the moment, Elementalists have access to 20 skills in combat, when you count all four attunements. If you add in a weapon swap, suddenly they have 40 skills to play with, which is just…insane compared to other professions. Switching attunements as opposed to weapons is the Elementalist’s mechanic, much as Engineers cannot swap but have access to kits.
The trick with the elementalist is to decide what position on the battlefield suits you, and pick a weapon that suits, or decide which weapon skills suit your playstyle, and practice until you get smooth swapping attunements.
If you have ele as a main, you could consider re-mapping the F1-4 keys to something easier to reach if you’re having problems, but with a little practice, you can get quite smooth. I play a staff ele, and mobility and variety is something that is a lot of fun. Sure, perhaps I don’t hit as hard as I could given the fragility of the profession, but the variety of skills is a lot of fun.
Yeah, I have my invisible bag at the bottom of the pile, so I can keep spare armour sets and weapons there. It makes sense because I don’t want to access that bag all the time, so why would I plonk it in the middle?
I’m fine with the system as it is. Dyes drop fairly regularly, so you can either use the colours you like, or sell them to buy the ones you want.
As an altoholic myself, so far I’ve been setting a colour scheme for each character, and channelling different colours to different characters. My green dyes go to one, grey to another, brown to a third, etc. I’ve had enough duplicates to sell some, and have the same colour on multiple characters a few times.
I know it can be frustrating at times, especially if you have a feeling you will re-roll, but dyes are not hard to come by, and most of the spectrum is available just for copper on the Trading Post. Additionally, cooking enables you to craft dyes yourself, and the materials used are account wide.
I tend not to delete characters as freely as the OP, but I have deleted them in the past, and I will say this, when you delete a character, that’s your choice. If you have a feeling you are likely to re-roll characters, why not just sell your valauable dyes and only use the common/uncommon ones? The variety of those colours is broad enough IMO.
I have a few guilds. I will play occasionally with my brother when he can afford the game, and I play now with friends and guildies. I have multiple characters which I mostly represent all guilds with, just so that I can chat.
Why should I be unable to chat to my brother and other family members on my main just because I also play that character with friends? Why should I be unable to chat to my friends when I’m on my alt just because I play that character when I play with my brother?
And as an RPer, I also have a guild which I RP in and a guild which I can link up with other RPers through. If I decided that I wanted to WvW on a Friday night, and no one else in my guild was up for that, I could join a WvW guild for that purpose too.
Why should I be limited because other people don’t want to split their commitments? If you don’t want to join multiple guilds, no one is forcing you to. And if you want to kick people out of your guild when they aren’t representing, no one can stop you, though I don’t know how long you would have a functioning guild if you did so.
Adding boat fishing would be amazing!
I think in some places having boats on the water would be a little contrary to the aesthetics of the area, but certainly more things like the logs/fishermen out on the water in Queensdale would be nice.
I don’t know how well player boats would work though. What you may gain in the immersion of seeing someone boating rather than swimming you may lose in seeing a whole flotilla of small boats in populous areas.
While I personally still have plenty to do, it’s worth bearing in mind that the OP seems to be a primarily PvP focused player.
PvP is a big part of this game, but sPvP is still a much smaller part of the whole than PvE/WvW at the moment, at least in terms of variety.
I believe ANet mentioned that more sPvP maps would be added after release. Guild Halls will also be added later, which leads (pooooossibly, this is speculation!) to the potential for GvG matches down the road.
I am waiting on that promised blog post myself; as much as I love all the GW2 has to offer and am no way near the end, I am always interested to know what I can look forward to later on!
I like this. I play a staff ele, and the run/walk animations while carrying the staff are nice. As a RPer, it also makes sense to me that my character would carry the staff much of the time. Not to mention, taking “weapons out” screens would be a lot easier too, given that the idle animation cycle means sometimes you want to wait for a certain pose to come around.
In Guild Wars 1, there were environmental, limited mounts which you could ride in certain areas. Those were mounts done right – they had a reason to be there, a reason you couldn’t just take them anywhere, and because you were riding them, your skills changed out to reflect that.
Personally, if we get mounts in GW2 I hope (and sorta expect) for them to be like that. Limited to areas that they make sense, and designed so that it feels as though you are in one, not just running faster. Maybe it’s because I’ve never really played an MMO with mounts, but I really just don’t see the point in them. I had a month in WoW and going into a city to see everyone parked up astride a mount was just… It looked odd, and not something that would fit the cities in GW2 at all.
ArenaNet have gone out of their way to craft a world which looks cohesive and stunning. Personally, I think it should stay that way. Yes, WPs get very expensive, but the answer there will be to tweak the price as a balance, and for players not to get carried away and just WP everywhere when you could run, and be earning a fair amount of gold from an event.
I second this. When I take screenshots now, they really don’t do the game justice, and looking back at them is always a little disappointing.
This is a beautiful game; it’s a shame we can’t take pictures that exhibit it as well as they could, especially since the feature used to be there.
I don’t have 3D capability and I’m not likely to for a loooong time, if I bother at all. As nice as the option is, I think more people would use and appreciate a hi-res screenshot option. I know it was somewhat glitchy at times in terms of the boxing; was that why it was removed? And if so, is there a chance it could be reinstated when those issues are sorted?
