PvE is VITAL to an MMO’s success even this one.
If Arena-net have plans, instead of making stupid articles telling us what “MINOR” content we can do once we hit 80 that we mostly have already done, why don’t they come out and say:
“Hey, we hear you PvE lovers, our PvE Team is slaving hard away to rebalance loot tables, make more engaging encounters, make HEAVY adjustments to the token grind and we aim to eventually release 10-15 man content as we know alot of people really love this instead of 5 mans for eternity when even Guild Wars 1 had 8.”
“We have spent the last few years creating a great journey and PvP system, now that it is done, we wish to make an end-game PvE experiance that rivals the best such as world of warcraft”
That would please ALOT of people.
I disagree that PvE is vital to an MMO being successful. I assume this is because we have differing opinions on what is considered successful. For an MMO to be successful, it does not need to be the largest MMO in history. It doesn’t need to have the most active subscriptions. All it really needs to do is have a dedicated playerbase that enjoys the game.
You… are… embracing mediocrity, it is making me sick tbh. evem with this game’s pvp content WoW still has more of it in each expansion.
Do you see the point? if WoW can do all elements why shouldn’t this game? what benefit do arenanet or WE have by discluding the most popular mechanic of MMOs?
Honestly, yes you have an opinion, but…. recognize where a company is short falling and why people are frustrated GRINDING TOKENS IN CRAP DUNGEONS SUCKS.
No one is forcing you to play, if GW2 is not your cup of tea, you can go pay to play WOW- and not have to worry about paying for GW2. Whats the tissue-issue?
“I’m 54 and I have absolutely no problem with the pace of the game – not least because the game also offers lots of opportunities to just hang out and smell the roses. Frankly, this game world feels more alive than any MMO I’ve ever played.
"
54! See, even this old fart can keep up with the “fast paced” gaming!
I know, its just not the same as it used to be, back in the day video gamers had to walk back and forth to levels uphill both ways in 3 feet deep snow- and they liked it!

Not trolling stating a fact
So opinions are facts?
But your concerns are valid, though to be surprised that the game was action oriented really indicates that you did not read anything about the game before purchasing.
Though with your spelling, maybe reading is not your forte?
You seem like you could have quick enough reflexes, you bought the game when it first released, right?
Actually this is my first ATI card, and im very satisfied. The price/performance ratio is excellent, I would say the “best bang for my buck” ever on a new card purchase.
Im sure over time the game will be optimzed for Nvidia cards. And Nvidia is probably making a driver that specifically enhances GW2 support since it is quite a good selling game.
I know this is a tough thing to hear when you have good equipment- consider lowering your settings?
Its a shame you are having trouble getting better FPS. Maybe if you post in the tech support they can help you solve your problem.
I have an ATI card and it runs the game just fantastic.
Oh, and I should think they will continue to optimize the game, its only what 3 weeks old barely?
I have not tried any that I know of, someone i met in game walked me through a cave where an NPC sort of lead you to jump saying she could do it, but then backed off at the last minute-
was that a jumping puzzle?
The game just released. If Anet is thoughtful, and they seem to be, they will likely have more and more challenging “endgame” content coming- giving players a chance to get used to the mechanics of the game.
Personally I would love it if they added ridiculously hard end boss fights where even if you had 100s of people participating, most people died if not playing their classes properly.
If you are a “hardcore” gamer and finished everything with ease, well congratulations? I think you probably got your moneys worth.
When buying a game I base “moneys worth” on replay value, not seeing much of that at the moment
Alright, your opinion is valid.
I have not taken my character to level 40 even yet, have not seen a great portion of the map, have lots of interest in trying other characters/professions/races, have participated in fun sPVP, WvWvW, did some crafting, went back to zones I completed for craft materials and found things I missed the first time, and I still have yet to head out to the Ascelion Dungeon.
For me, I think I am getting my moneys worth out of the game. How much replayablity to you expect from a one time purchase? I played TOR, the only other MMO I bothered to try, and one play through was enough for me- and I dropped a lot more total $$$ on the game. Talk about not getting replay to dollar value!
It’s a MMO it is not supposed to be get to 80 then have nothing to do, farming gear just because it looks cool but has no real stat advantages seems pointless. Most people would rather pay a sub and have stuff to do/ some sort of progression at lvl cap then buy the game play through once or twice and be done with it.
I mean despite loving the game and how it looks/ feels I have been having more fun on the forums then in game and I’m only lvl 68, that doesn’t bode well imo.
What sort of things to MMOS that have a sub have to do at level cap? If playing the same area over and over and over and over for new armor with stats is the “something to do” that is worth a subscription any more, well then unfortunately this game may not fit your preferred style of Pay to Play (the same thing over and over).
I would hate to see anyone go already, especially if you enjoy the game, though consider that you have no other money riding on the GW2 at the moment. And on top of that, the game will be fleshed out further with FREE content in the coming months. It seems like a great deal to me, and you will have to take my word, I am very particular about my spending!

yes, go to your trainer, and you must purchase a book. It is pretty costly, so make sure you think about how you want to spend your points next time.

This game isn’t about stats, so maybe it just isn’t for you.
This is a bad example. This person has done what everyone else is expected to do, whether it be a month or three months. Eventually everyone will come to this point and then what? You’ll have much more people with the same problem.
There is without a doubt a brick wall you hit at 80, where once you complete some of the things you’re left with nothing beneficial to do. Sure there is other things to do but there is no benefit to do them..Naturally people don’t do things that do not benefit themselves.
The game just launched. Give it a month, so they can even begin to sell the game to the customers! Then after a few months, if you do not see new content for the founding members, then you have something to really complain about.
If you have watched the interactions in the game, and took in what the world npcs have said, you can be certain that more content is certainly already planned- likely that a lot of it is already completed or near completion.
The company cannot just blow its load all at once, or players like you OP will just steam roll it and be asking for more anyways. Be patient, maybe make a new character, and explore the story of a different race.
Geeze – level 80, full exotic, and run a dungeon 30+ times? Yeah, you probably rushed too much. The game has been out just under three weeks. I’d love to know your /age.
And what sort of job they work
Lots of time on those hands !
I like the idea of physical whips, and I think they will be implemented, as the whip type animation exists on the elementalist and seems interesting.
If and when the whip comes, I am making a character named Simon Belmont.
Mark my words, the first addition to new classes they will eventually add to the game will be the monk.
Priest, maybe.
It is definately deserved, its a good game. Im sure the sales will increase as the good rating s from mainstream review sites keep pouring in.
No need to buy them, Gw2 will feature consistent free content updates and in-game events going forward. Our goal is to make it so you get more from Gw2 for free than you get from a game you pay a subscription for.
On top of a large amount of free bonus content, we will be expanding on offerings in the Black Lion Trading Company going forward, as well as be doing large-scale expansion content down the road.
We’ll cover a lot of the details on the kind of support and plans we have in place over the next month or so on the Gw2 blog and with our press partners.
We do appreciate that you’d like to buy lots of new content, but we’d prefer to give a lot of it to you for free, cause that’s what we think a responsible MMO company does!
This is a fantastic answer. I will be buying some of the online goods, as soon as I figure out how the trading post works
The game is fantastic, and it seems that you as a company have put a lot of forethought in to how the game will expand. I will defintaely be one of your buyers, you made quite a good game!
I have found a spectrum of orange dyes, and a double of one of the most gawdy oranges already.
Random luck is random.
Guild Wars 2 is great so far. I am hoping it is in the long term plan to add more armor options for all classes. My first character I made is an Elementalist, and so have put the most thought into what would help make Elementalists more unique within their profession.
Element based armors. I have seen a fire stylized set already in game, at least portions of the armor had fire like the helmet eyeholes. Add a “water” armor, which features ice shards, an Earth armor with a boulder type theme, and an “air” armor with an electric theme.
It would be a nice immersion addition.
Why are they using waypoints so extensively? If they are just starting, they should be out exploring, not reusing the same waypoints to no end.
Maybe have them give you money to help them?
I keep getting orange drops…
I said Skritt, first choice!
Hylek – Priest.
Tengu and Koden could be added sure, but what profession could they tie into the race addition/expansion?
I should think that more options will be available over the course of the games life. Its 2 weeks old. Give this beautiful baby a chance to grow.
The Skritt rat people in Lions Gate, The frog people in Lions Gate, Dwarfs would also be a fine choice but overdone I think.
The game is a week old. Deciding that any class is underpowered is going to take more time. Particularly with the the skill traits and set ups that you can choose.
ELE has a lot of different potentials, its not an easy class.
More classes seem to be a given for expansions, and that likely comes with new weapon options.
Right now there are a lot of classes, personally it is going to take me a good while to work through all the options, they all seem so good it was hard to make the first choice!
As Blitz said, you need to organize in Wpvp. It is “world” pvp, so expect to see roving bands of enemies. Running solo it WPVP is a very large risk. Make a group, invite people to a party and try to obtain smaller objectives first.
Make sure you attack the local fauna, they tend to drop decent “junk” gear that you can sell to fund your repairs.
I would like any new race addition, the more variety in game the better. Which race are the Tengu?
I thought they had a good idea with the Skritt. They could develop an underground zone for the race, built beneath one of the existing areas. Would be a really interesting way to expand on the world map.
I really enjoy the game, its a cross of all my favorite games in the past, all mixed into a nice package.
I never played GW1, though I heard they introduced a number of professions in expansion form. Were there ever any new races added?
When I saw a Skritt in Lions Gate, I immediately thought how great it would be to play one as a Thief. Or Elementalist, or Warrior, any profession!
Any possibility that a new race would be introduced if the fans asked nice enough?
