If the team is bad i most times can give them a constant 4v3 on a thief.
In the toptier teams there a very few burnguardians and no condi engis. What does this tell?

I wrote it in the other thief thread, you wont kill a good thief by this rev gameplay. Rev is really vulnerable to thiefs. Despite a short block there is nothing he can do after sword 3, which wont do much damage if the thief reacts. Hammerskills are completly useless against a thief. The animations are really big and easy to dodge. Rev is not a thief counter. Wait until players learned how to play against it.
There are classes that can play in the lower tiers without paying to much attention to the opponents. An ele is still not completly useless if he concentrates on his skill rotation, buffing might and than burn. A thief playing like this will die instantly. You need to understand every class you are playing against , even in lower tiers. That is a big reason it is hard to start on a thief. I dont think i would be able to teef, if i havent played all other classes.

On my bunker atm is almost as if i were playing with mostly zerk gear.
A bunker can also dodge. If you get hit 6+ burning ticks, it was a mistake that should also be punished for bunkers. Thats what i hate when i play dps against bunkers. They can do a lot of mistakes and still survive quite long.
I still dont die to burning often, most times its dps. And if burning will remove vamprune from beeing meta i would appreciate it a lot! I played a few matches on burn guard and engi and feel the same way as i feel fighting them: i only win against bad ppl with burning. Its like a lucky punch and if you dont hit you have to wait quite long until the next burst. There is a reason we still got a dps meta. As soon as a opponent realises its a burning build, its getting tough.
Its even worse than the engi granedes have been xD
I think Anet will fix this. Never seen a oneshot to a beast before o.O
Ok, i honestly didnt think of condi thiefs, just dont see them often. I can only tell, i killed a lot of revs on the current dp meta build (although i run executio er over impro)

From my personal point I can tell you, i can carry best on a thief because i can rotate very quickly and change the game. (If i get matched against opponents i can handle, dont mean to tell that i am carrying every team i am in)
It tells a lot if you got problems with pistol thiefs
I I dont even mean in playstyle. A pistolthief is nothing you should fear on any character. If you do, you either make sth wrong or the build isnt valid.

I didnt get killed by a single rev playing thief after trying rev myself for a few minutes. Imo the mechanics are to simple to get supprised.
Well, there are plenty of 1v1s you can go for. But sure, a bunker on a capped point isnt sth you should attack alone, but thats for all classes.
“fight only on points” is sth i hear way to often. Of course you need to pay attention to the points, but there are plenty of good reasons to fight of points too. Look at the fights of all big teams and you will see a lot of offpoint fighting.
And talking to ppl is suprisingly often working if you stay friendly. I had quite a few times where ppl responded in a good way and teams got better than. Its not always working but getting salty never does (altough i admit, that this happens to me too)
It is high tier play indeed! Nice to see. Its a fun build too, but i am not quite sure if the usual build is stronger in premade teams (talking about critical strike build). A fun moment is when you wreck red levin and he is like, what the kitten happend. I guess he didnt expect that burst comming from dp^^
After watching this vid and having had fights against some of your opponents I truely dont want to meet you.

A good(!) thief is still a very important part in every team that wants to participate in high tier matches. It is still a very good class, maybe slightly underpowered, but not much.
You need to time your bursts and interrupt heals and not just use autoattack. Thief is not easy to play these days but you can kill every class over time, yes even elementalists. You need to utilize your backstab, for example directly after steal when the opponent is dazed. Use the stolen package in a good way.
Altough i ran into a druid earlier on, after maybe 30secs someone else joined my point defend against him, i really had trouble bringing him down, but also didnt get any damage from him. I dont know what would have happend if we didnt get +1
It is normal to have series in both directions, there is nothing to do about it. Just give matchmaking a chance. Over all matches most ppl are around the 50% winning rate.

I most times look over a build or do sth else in this time. Ppl are not just forgetting to press the button but adjust to the enemie team.
Its the exact way around for me. I win 8 out of 10 matches since patch. Started playing different classes i am not good at now. Its a joke if you win 1v3s as a thief. And thats surely not because i improved the last few days or there are no opponents for me in this game. Its just the matchmaking that gives to easy matches. Hope it will adjust soon.
They copy your account information and you play from that point. This also refers to gold, even gems and stuff. If you buy sth with those gems and log to your beta char you will still have them.
I honestly dont think a thief is usefull after having played 300 matches. Oppinions can differ and thats ok.
I dislike the idea i can get every champion title. I mean, I got for example the engy title but i truely cant play this class in any good way.
Those titels are a joke in every point. There is no way to call you a champion after winning 150 matches. There are ppl doing this in a week.
The opposite way around. If you troll and afk much you will get bad mmr, thats for sure.
How about the community does it like the esl teams. If one dcs, someone on the other team afks until he/she is back.
I dont get ragequitters a lot, but looks like i am lucky there or it might change with different tiers.
The problem is the fact that MMR follows a character. If you create a new class right now you will be stuck in ELO hell as they call it with incompetent players.

Yes, every class gets calculated a own mmr, but it is not used for matchmaking. Devs decided the algorithm will use the account mmr as long as you are alowed to switch classes after matchmaking during preperation time. So this statement is wrong.
Static, this is not true. The algorithm has no anti streak mechanism as just told by anet a few days ago. You will matched in a game and during matchmaking you got a 50% chanve to get into the better team (better means hihger mmr in this case). If you win a few matches in a row your mmr might get a bit higher so you get harder matches, thats what can happen. But in general there is no mechanism that looks for the past 10 matches and than reacts to the number of wins by putting you into a sure loss or win. I dont know in which of the many traits anet posted this, but this is a post not older than 2 weeks, if you want to search it.
@caine: that just tells that your mmr is not working for you or you go a lot with premades. There are tons of really good players with ~50% winrate.

That is fine for me. If it would be on every dodge it would be to much. If you play 1v1 and get a lot of condis you made mistakes that killed you. A good opponent will stop attacking you so you cannot get rid of the condi sure.
In bigger group fights where it happens you get those condis, you wont have a problem to find attacks to dodge throu.
What I miss is mainly the stealth during rezzes, it was very powerful to “interrupt” stomps. You could rez in damage while the stealth removes the condis until vamp rune procs and trough the proc, making you a very powerfull ninja medic. I have no problem to trait this for all the mobility.
I played a dager/pistol build in pvp a few matches. I used the speed dogde thingy and the new elite. Typical traits for dp without shadow arts and the new trait instead. Its a lot of mobility, really i dont need a mesmer portal anymore to be everywhere on the map. Condiremove is also very nice like this, esp the remove of imobs on dodge.
Also the stomp instead of downstate damage thing is very cool, i fear its gonna get nerfed. Its a little op, to be honest.
I think this is a way i can imagine the thief to go. On foefire I can even imagine to play staff instead of bow, as i am very fast any ways and there is not a necessary need to switch grounds all the time.
Last beta i thought thief is dead for me ( i didnt feel good playing it) but now i gotta give it to anet. Nice way of changing this class. I mean, it is hard to give new stuff without destroying the character of the thief and they madew it work.
Thats the point, a class is to good, it gets nerfed to a good spot inside the meta. But every time a player sees someone on this class doing fine everybody goes: “Oh no, he is still op!!!!” Everything ele does can be done better by another class now, ele is just sth in the middle that is quite flexible, as it has always been. Even at gamerelease i run dd ele in wvw frontline and survived, thats nothing new at all. Ele can and is used as a bunker, bunkers are nothing bad and ele doesnt have more sustain than guardian or warrior. Now the damage and perma blinds are also gone. So what is left? The same that other classes have.

The rewards are not as good as in pve, but thats not what competitive game parts are made for imo.

What are you missing? The only thing I can think of is cooking stuff, but this is also available in the trading post. You get shards, Weapons and Armor, Loadstones (if you think of the boxes you can buy in orr). Maybe I forgot something, please tell me.
You get everything you need to buy for karma directly at the rewardtracks. I prefer pvp having lowe rewards than pve, justless farmers.
Not only would there be epic matches but also epic waiting time. If there were enough players for this kind of matchmaking we wouldnt need to discuss about it. Is there any information how the mmr algorithm works atm? Do they even represent the players skill?
Also i won a couple of matches with double thief in my team the last days. Altough it is far from ideal, i agree.
If anybody gets hit by this skill he should stop playing. Its a rather useless one in a fight. You get to much damage during channeling and or interrupted and it is the esiest to dodge attack in the game.
There will come a lot of new skills with the update. Enough to learn. To be good on your class you need to understand every other one. A lot of new animations and stuff comming and what makles players really good is the movment and use of the map. I dont think its getting to easy to play.
I mean, look at Rom, playing a, in terms of skills you can use, easy class. Still he stands out by doing a jumping puzzle while he kills you (happend to me -_-)

Ele is fine. There are heviet bunkers out there. The neerf was needed, bit less burning and less blind is enough. Diamand skin is a overall useless trait xD
Still, the friend one does not work. You need players from single queue to fill the 4 ppl-parties up. Or you want solo players to enter the other queue??

Thsi build is kitten build, i hate to play against it on a thief. Look at wvw roamers, its even worse there.
By the way, I agree on the first point made here, matchmaking still broken. At the end i even went unranked and nothing changed.
Thats funny. So you solo q and there are 4-ppl-parties. Tell me how you get to 5 players without mixing them. xD
If the team that tribble capped gets whiped its almost every time because there is at least one “dont go far” player in your team. So you end up outnumbered to the respawn. If ppl actually would move to the respawn, there would not be a whipe.
Worst part is the “told you so” by the players who made their team beeing outnumbered and therefore loose. If you rotate correctly a tribblecap is nothing bad.
Waiting for a respawn at close/mid after winning the teamfight is the easiest way to loose momentum and therefore a lot of points. You do need to move on! This is a game with 3 points and not a single good team played 2 points to win.

should be 15 secs in ranked or unranked. personal arenas can differ.
It is funny how ppl complain about burning but still all run without any condicleans. You just need to adjust a tiny little bit, one small skill changed, and the problem is gone. Meta still doesnt have any condiremove inside (think for example of a mesmer, that has a lot of acces to it). If ppl actually start playing with condiremoves and still have problem with burning, we can talk again. Until that, i can only say, adjust your builds or l2 dodge.
Even if you cannot handle the class to well you know how to counter the other classes, which skills to dodge, how to rotate, etc. To get your char on a level to compete with these things, you just need a few hotjoin matches.
Atm there is a charbound mmr calculated but not used in matchmaking. I honestly prefer it this way. If I go to a new class and have to play with all those new players, nah, i dont even want to think about it. Also it is esier to compare my personal skills on diffrerent classes, like it is. Also i would miss the option to relog after getting your team. I dont want a 3 thief pug team. xD
