I think the point of guilds is the same in GW2 as it is in any other MMO. Your points could be said in any game to be honest. In all MMOs the point of guilds is to allow you to congregate with like minded people. In my case, that is a guild of people mostly in our 30s that want a nice peaceful mature environment. For other people it might be a group of people that all want to swear like sailors. For yet others it might be PvP that draws them together. That is the point of guilds, everything else is just a bonus.

Especially when:
Some players with countless trial accounts (from various sources , not only friend invites) and multibox setups could farm precursors indefinitely. How is it right and not exploit?
Don’t tell me that they had to invest the whole 3 hours to get to the chest because it took as much time as reloging to the next overflow coming up to the chest.

Can you imagine how many won a fortune? Is this fair ? These are not 1 gold worth items.

We ca not trust Arenanet – no more , W can not trust market trends.

And I don’t know if I want to be a part of this anymore – if things like this causing only pain and frustration happen to continue and ArenaNet continue to treat us not serious – I’m sure majority of serious player will leave this chaotic place.

You could have done the same thing if that really disturbed you so much. Or I think you could have reported people who were abusing the game.

Crushed? Over a computer game? I think that is a drastic overreaction.

I would be crushed if one of my 4 sons got leukemia, I would be crushed if something happened to my wife, I would be crushed if something happened to my family or my wife’s family.

If you are crushed over spending some in game gold, then it might be time to step back and see how invested you are into the game. You might have some addiction/dependance issues that go deeper then a decision by a game company.

Yes, but let’s say a restaurant has a lot of success, it doesn’t increase prices. Water is free, if there’s more people going into the restaurant, water will remain free.

However, isn’t a such success the worst thing you can hope for a game like GW2? the more there are players, the more there are dollars-eyed flies flying around the developpers, the more sales expectations are rising and the more cash shop is growing terrible.

I am curious why you feel you deserve an apology? Deserve is a pretty strong word, and is thrown around a lot these days.

I look at the definitions and I am not sure why we would deserve and apology. Maybe it would be better to say this is not the apology that I would like. It sounds a lot less combative and entitled.

Maybe Anet made some mistake, I don’t think they did. However, it is a computer game and is not on such a serious level as is being implied by a lot of people on these forums.

Yay! a happy GW2 gamer. I am happy that you are able to enjoy this game, and the hobby of gaming in general. I get lost bad enough as it is (horrible sense of direction), I couldn’t imagine it being any worse. So, good on you.

Most of the people in my guild still log on, and we are a casual adult guild. Also the people on friends list (mostly people I know from GW1 and also casual) are still playing. Using your own friends list or guild as an indication of the games health is kind of difficult.

If you are looking for a friendly smallish guild where you can get to know people then we are the home for you. This is a great time to get in and join up in doing Fractals or Dungeons. We are not hard core, and do not have requirements to join groups. We will never make you get certain gear or play certain hours to be in a group.

WHAT!!! 1 gold! really?!?!

I have a smallish guild, many of us have played together since LOTRO was brand new. So we should be split up until we could scrape together 1 gold? Sorry, but that isn’t a good idea at all. That would basically kill all small guilds, and lead to horrible faceless mega guilds and a bunch of soloers.

I am casual. I have not completed any monthly achievement. I also do not care because I play what I want to play when I want to play it.

Big doesn’t mean good, that is the problem. There could be smallish WvW guilds that know the maps and the tactics to win however, they would lack votes because they are small. There could also be very large mostly PvE guilds that only show up in WvW to finish their monthlies yet they have the man power to vote in a commander. Not a good idea.

Live by recruiting server hoppers, die by recruiting server hoppers. If somebody is willing to run from one bad situations who is to say they will not leave your bad situation. After seeing the poor sad shells that ET and HoD are now, I have little sympathy for Beastgate. Beastgate wanted to beat their chests while stomping their way to the top. Now you might just get a taste for how ET and HoD feel. Sorry if that is harsh, but I think very few people will have any kind of sympathy for Beastgate.

So the biggest guilds will have all the Commanders?

With voted Commanders how do you purpose to have 24 hour coverage on a server? The big guilds will only vote for their people, but their people might not play early in the morning.

I think by multi-box he means people that have multiple accounts that they play, not bots. For instance I have an account, my wife has an account, my oldest son has an account. I could vote for the same person with all 3 accounts even though my wife and son do not play WvW.

If you want to block EU and NA’s from playing on each others servers.

What would you do about the NA players who play during EU times and such?
I mean it’d make it to which server has the most night time players anyways, due to everyone not having the same be time as one another.

Like I live in NA, but I mainly play GW2 from 11pm Eastern until about 11am eastern.(If not a bit later.) It’s not due to living somewhere different then NA, but more or less I work night shift so my “day time” is your “night time”.

Want to make it worse, do that. Then watch which servers have 2nd/3rd shift workers on them to carry their server to the top, without any opposition from any EU/Aussie/Oceanic people.

I was basically trying to say something along these lines, that all Americans don’t play at the same time. It is impossible to divide up by time zones.

By time zones you mean regions right? Because time zones is confusing some people I think. I live in California, that is in the Pacific Standard Timezone. The vast majority of the US population lives in the Eastern Standard Timezone. That means when I log into MMOs the large majority of the population is logging out. Yet you all are lumping the US together as one big time zone.

I think you mean the US is a region but we are certainly not in one time zone nor do we all have the same peak hours.

My question is who do you want these regional European servers to play against in WvW? Do you want to play against other regional servers? How would you fix this situation?

You basically have 2 choices.

1. Be an exclusive community and be one of the lower tier servers.

2. Be an inclusive community and have better coverage.

If you want to keep your server to your language/country group then you will have WvW problems. I see people denigrating Americans saying they will not want to play on French servers. That really is not true. Given an opportunity, I am sure Americans will play wherever there is a good fight.

We have had some Asian guilds join up on Tarnish Coast lately. I saw them speaking in /say in another language and I don’t see a problem with that. Should I have said “speak English or leave our server” or should I fight with them and try to win?

They will never do this. Why should my effort be worth less just because I can’t play from 8 PM – 1 AM in a particular timezone? Remember, it’s not just people living on a different continent who play at off-peak hours. Some people have to work or have other commitments in “prime time”.

Exactly! Night for who would be the question. Midnight EST is 9pm where I live. Should we get less points because it is late for the EST guys?

What about countries with multiple timezones? There is 3 hours difference between the USA East (EST) and West (PST) coasts. Then we also have Alaska and Hawaii to really screw things up.

Just taking EST and PST. A server that has strong EST guilds takes most of a map over during their prime time. Then they start to go to bed around 11pm to Midnight. At that time another server with strong PST guilds comes on and takes back everything that the EST dominate server had taken.

It is impossible to balance out the time zones.

Catapults are not really anti personnel weapons, so to see them able to be used that way in the game is annoying. In history, catapults were fairly difficult/slow to load and make ready to fire. They then fired a large chunk of something (rock/person/diseased cow) at a wall or over a wall if attempting to spread disease. Sure they could be used to fire at a large group of people charging across an open field, but that would not be something that could be done over and over.

Hopefully it gets fixed, but isn’t the highest of priorities.

There is more benefits to running around in circles taking camps there there is for defending camps. If defense gave as much rewards as offense then more people might do it. It is also very hard to defend camps from a zerg, since the NPCs generally die pretty quickly.

That being said, the OP is wrong. There does not need to be that long of a buff on the NPCs in the camps. People just need to be take some responsibility for keeping the enemies out of their stuff.

I am not worried about any of my old names being taken. I use unusual first names usually with my user name here as a last name. No there isn’t any names that I want. I like to be different, and don’t want to steal somebodies name.

I am curious about people’s thoughts on this now that we have had a bit of time playing these new matchups without orbs. Personally, I have not seen a drop off with the numbers on the Tarnished Coast boarderland. We had pretty typical numbers for the time that I play. HoD only had a few people but that isn’t to surprising. CD was giving us a hard time for awhile, taking camps and making us defend a couple of keeps and such. They seemed to all disappear all of a sudden, and that allowed us to take the rest of our map.

There just didn’t seem to be a lack of people or fighting all of a sudden without the orbs.

I agree. Hate threads can be pages and pages long. Thank you threads tend to be a page or less before they die. This was a nice gesture by Anet. They could have blamed their schedule for not being able to help out their players, but they did not. They went an extra step to do something for people that are in a bad place right now.

PINK is great. My WvW strategy is to find the largest group of PINKers possible and follow them to the best of my ability. It isn’t a great strategy and I am not proud of it, but it works for me. :P

This wouldn’t be a bad idea. It is very hard to get the badges as it stands now. I killed at least enough people to fill out the monthly achievement last month combine that with WvW before last month, yet I have 36 of the the badges. That this rate I will play a veeeeery long time before I can get the WvW armor.

Not sure this needs to be a feature in the game. My wife and I have been married almost 11 years and have played MMOs together for over 7 years, and we use the same last name for a lot of our characters. However, we wouldn’t even make use of something like this. Kind of odd and somehow creepy to have an ingame wedding.

As to the suggestion, I like it. I am a horrible 3D platformer. I have been bad at them since the first one. Super Mario Sunshine I think it was. My wife is vastly worse then I am, to the point where she has difficulties with easier jumps puzzles.

I dislike seeing the whole “unskilled” thing. We have been playing video games for over 25 years and are pretty good at them.

In GW1 people eventually had a lot of hats. These hats came from the festivals. Anet created a hat vendor kind of thing, where if you had access to the hat then the vendor would create it for you. No need to hold it in your inventory or bank. I wouldn’t mind seeing sometime like that here too.

I don’t know if that is true. There are people that fight on the Borderlands because they like the maps more. Those people will remain. I only fight on the Tarnished Coast borderland, and I haven’t really noticed large groups of people there for the orb, other then the night the matches start.

Just bringing this back to the top to let everybody know we are still here. We are in the midst of a guild screenshot contest. We had some good entries, and are getting ready to move to the voting for the winner phase. The winner of the contest is going to have the ability to create the guild emblem for 3 months.

Tarnished Coast felt the pain of facing one of those servers that got a flood of new people last week. It was not fun fighting that many people. However, I would rather lose those matches, and be at the bottom of the WvW standings then lose the TC community. I have been impressed by how people play together, and the lack of drama on TC. That is much better then rolling over people every week.

We did 1 guild event so far. That was jumping puzzle race. I am planning another one right now to start on 22 OCT. It is going to be a Halloween Screenshot contest.

We do mostly PvE, and have a wide range of levels right now. We have people starting to work on the dungeons. We also have started to get more interest in WvW. We have a couple of people interested in tPvP, I am trying to recruit/work up interest in that part of the game.

Ah, good time good times. I used to play all sort of songs on the Bagpipes on LOTRO. Mostly I did it to bug my guild when we were just standing around doing nothing. It was a ton of fun.

About “Khazad Fundinul”.

We started in LOTRO when it was in Closed Beta, then got a branch going in SWTOR, and now plan to plunder through GW2. So our guild is multi-gaming community and we will be playing these 3 MMOs for now. Our members age vary from early 20s to late 50s. We don’t have any drama or grief, everything is on a good level of maturity and understanding.

We are mostly NA, EST time zone (I am on PST though), but we have some guys from Australia and New Zealand too.

“What are our plans for GW2”.
We plan to plunder and rob… oh wait, I meant to say we plan to have a lot of fun . We usually try everything that game has to offer as long as our real life has time to spare. But we will definitely be doing some PvP in all of its forms, along with a lot of PvE and basically do whatever is fun. We will have guild events, and competitions too.

“What we expect from our members”.
Have fun and help others to have fun. We don’t have strict rules of raiding or any type of that requirement as a casual guild. Basically Khazad Fundinul in GW2 will be a place where you can come home from work and relax while having fun pew pewing some mobs or other players. That’s what we’ve been doing for years.

We have a tight group of people that know each other throughout the years of gaming together. Pretty laid back somewhat-crazy bunch of guys and some gals. If you happen to be a couple – our members are pretty decent so you won’t hear any cussing or BS… for the most part. In game chat its all decent, no griefing or drama allowed, we have voice chat as well.
