Throwing the weapon on DS1/2 is poor design from ANET’s side.
It should make lifeblast more fiery.On DS2 the hand could have been molten or something else relevant.

Every game has its “Elitist Jerks” that think that they are good.
Just don’t play with them .There are lots of normal people around to dungeons with.Joining a guild will help you tremendously so will the implementation of a proper LFG system.

Don’t leave a game due to EJs especially if you enjoy it.

Condion typed damage is also prone to runes/food/traits that reduce condition duration to which power damage is not.

Condition duration reduction food and runes is itself countered by condition duration increase food and runes anyway. Your point is?

Compare both numbers of those adding +all condi duration vs Melandru (especially since fear double dips on condi +stun duration) and see which comes on top.

Also a stealthed bs or an ely insta burst cannot be negated in the same way a burning proc can’t.You speculate it and try to take pre emptive actions.At least when you get the burn you have time to react and negate it even further with a condi removal,or even break a fear chain with a stun breaker.

It’s intersting to see that the whole meta condi cry has escalated frmo just necros to condis in general.

Understand,Adapt,React.

PS:Also i laugh when i see people comparing Cond dmg to Power dmg and say that X atk does 4k power dmg INSTANTLY while Y atk does 6K condi dmg OVER 20 SECONDS.

i have all 3, they are all very situational but since theres so much condy and putrid mark is nerfed/bugged i like running d/d atm for the extra condy transfer plus the weakness isnt bad if you can land it xD

Exactly!and that is the problem ( or the beauty?) imo.With dagger main hand the offhands are all too situational.

I tend to prefer dagger offhand for pve since i like to use blood well for healing so i stick to d4 for condi removal.

If they fix +% stun duration increasing Fears duration, they also need to fix -% stun duration reducing its duration (Melandru, SD foods). It would be a joke if they nurf +15% but keep -25%.

Personally i think should be left alone (and no i do not use them). It doesn’t matter how you class Fear (condition control, control, light stun, control effect) its removed universally by a stun breaker and thus should be increased/ reduced by stun duration effects.

It is better to have fear be affected by melandrus that to see the base numbers nerfed to teh ground.
That way everyone can rune against fear if they are afraid of it and their class or faceroll zerk build can’t accomodate stun/condi breakers.

Many good PvP players changed from PvP to PvE, because PvE was actually…funny and rewarding.

It’s intersting to see the incosistency on the posts about the opness of Necros.
It started from spectral wall to terror+burning to how Necros deal with condis to how op is the fact that all marks have the same graphics.

Reverting Doom’s fear on the old duration (1sec) and fixing paralyzation signet should be a good .The give some time to see if that lessens the crying.
After that people should be able to start coping with the extra burning every 10 seconds since it should be the only “new” thing on Necro’s arsenal.

Fear is both a condi and a CC . You can double dip it , defence wise, to counter it.

Raids are not the solution.If i wanted a Raid system i would play WoW which i left due to that.
I do like long commitment pve but instead of 10,20,30+ Raids i would prefer something like a World/server effort.Along the lines of current world bosses but on a bigger scale.Something like ,on wow terms, the opening of AQ.
Think a server wide raid that you can assist and get rewards on your own terms.
Not 3-4 days a week for 4 hours.

Don’t buy gems to support neither NCsoft or ArenaNet.
Buy gems for yourself and only yourself.Only if YOU think there is something worth buying on the store spend you rl cash (and not gold) for gems.And don’t spend your few leftover gems for rng kitten only because you can’t buy anytyhing worthwhile.

That way you increase the qualite of the game no matter who gets the cash from gems.

One should ponder that the original stealth mechanic of the rogue classes was ment to be done outside of combat only and the backstab as an initiating strike .
Then came most mmo’s and turned stealth/backstabing to a spamming rotation on most mmos.

It’s not a gw2 thingy, it’s the mainsteam abomination the rogues have turned into and the playerbase they appeal to.

Lets lock heavy class.

There is a gambler in everyone of us and RNG items “bet” on that inner feeling.

In short , Gamble only when you are comfortable with loosing your investment.

Siphon could be a % based on the damage we do instead of adding extra true damage and the healing for power builds or be a base amount per condition tick for condition builds.The ideas are endless and even the worst is still better that what it is now.

As a fairly new 80 necro i would suggest not to focus on a specific build as you level up since with the lack of trait points you cant really be a build.
Putting points on both Curses and Spite tree worked pretty well for me since i could jump from a conditions to straight up dps according to the newer weapon i found.
Think leveling as the intro time to get the hang of weapons and playstyle of necro.

Finally a message to the devs: You cannot properly fix this class by listening to the average necromancer player who does hotjoins and plays against weaker competition. You cannot properly fix this class by listening to PVE players. You cannot properly fix this class by listening to WvW players. Finally, you CANNOT fix this class by loading up your own necromancers and hopping into a hotjoin (like I have seen you post about) and test stuff out. Why is this? The reason is because the weaknessess of necromancer are not PUNISHED and EXPOSED until you bring your necromancer into the TPVP scene and face the best players and teams. And that is why the necromancer needs to be fixed so that it has the adequate tools to be able to handle its role in that spectrum.

You have valid points on many things.But the way to fix a class on a x-PVX game is not to focus on neither tPVP-sPVP-PVE-WvW and make adjustments based on one segment that affect all.

Great mechanic and idea, medicore execution, kinda like warrior bursts.

This is exactly how i feel about DS.
For our core mechanic it feels very unrefined and rushed.Given that i didn’t play beta to know how the old DS worked in order to have something to compare to.

Siphon life scaling with healing power will give necro so much more to play with.

On the spectral subject anyone knows if it is normal the fact (tested it) that Spectral Attunement does not increase the duration of swiftness of Spectral Walk?

With and without the trait the durations are 33 for the skill.

I’ld prefer a new unique way for necro to exploit bleeding/poison for a condition build or a fix on how bleeding stacks work get applied.
2 condition builds make the rest obsolete.
2 power builds do not make the rest obsolete.

No one will ever now.

It’s both, but really the fault for the focused hate lies in the mechanics. Without the mechanics the terrible people are spread around, but with the jerk mechanics in place the jerks congregate on that class, focusing the hate of the terrible people in 1 place (which just so happens to have the mechanics hate in there as well).
In short, stop putting rogue archetypes in multiplayer games.

The problem is not the rogue archetype imo.But the fact that in mmos rogue classes have every ability of various rogue archetypes at once.Which make a mean mofo and a compilation of jerk mechanics ready to be anleashed on the world in the wrong hands xD
It’s like the unspoken trinity system.
Be a warrior class for heavy armor and weapons.
Be a caster class to heal or sling spells.
Be a rogue to be a jerk ( at least on pvp)

When summoning minions i feel more like Dr Frankestein than a necromancer.They all look too “fleshy” and created in a lab than raised from the dead.Other than shadow fiend that is.
The undead theme is lacking on the summoning department.The rest feels fine imo.

The biggest issue with the dps on condionmancer was that +condition dmg gear is so scarce in comparison to +power that i had buy/craft my own in order to keep my dmg up. (lvl 40 now)
What i found out is that if you are lvl 20 for example with lvl 10 gear dont go to a 20-30 area and expect to have an easy time.

If you don’t care about loosing optimization always go for looks>efficiency. No matter the enviroment PvX. If that’s what most fun for you

For the 3rd skill on pve i go for either well of darkness or Corrupt boon if the mobs buff a lot.
WoD along with offhand dagger 4 can give 6 seconds of blindness along with a great synergy by passing our self inlficting conditions to the enemy.

What bothers me more, is that they draw aggro from a monster in miliseconds even though i am clearly doing the majority of the damage myself.
The mobs prefer to move in order to attack one of my minions that focus on me stabing them with my dagger.

Just let them remove AoE from the game. Capping aoe in general is a lame mechanic that does not make classes differ frmo each other.
AoE should be capped and uncapped on a per individual skill base.If staff is supposed to be The aoe weapon it should be uncapped.While burning rush aoe blast for example should have the 5 target cap.
Same logic should apply on other proff/skills.

Lore wise the melee type Mages are as old as ranged mages.Although the range didn’t actually have to do with the weapon wielded.
Just because the mainstream archetype of the Wizard is “Elderly fella with a staff.White beard and pointy hat!” it doesn’t mean it’s the only one.

I love d/d and staff equally. On wvwvw staff is plainly awsome.But when i get out of wvwvw i find staff lacking quite a bit.

OOC weapon switching with full dispeling (so to not stack boons from one set to another) is a decent convenience.
Although i would prefer a more indepth dual spec (traits-equips) feature more.

I don’t have a lot of expereince in gw2 in general since i play only 2 weeks.But have researched quite a bit before choosing my profession as an elementalist.
I mostly play D/D (still leveling to 80) because i love the gameplay of a melee mage.On the story mode dungeons i’ve tried and some wvwvw i entered staff goes infront by far.
I’m ok with that specialization of weapon sets but imo staff feels a bit stiffy and it doesn’t gain much by attunement jugling as D/D or even kitten D-F.
Also what i don’t like is that while on staff i feel forced to do 30 arcana for increased staff aoe.
I’m sure that when i reach the end i will probably change the way i see things but that’s my 2 cents for now.
