Looking for a serious WvW guild.
Server is Crystal Desert.
I am on Pacific Time, and mainly play in the evenings (7-11 pm). Stays on very late on the weekends (as late till 3-4 am on Saturday/Sunday mornings).
My main is a lvl 80 ranger, but is leveling a thief for roaming/scouting purposes.
Hello,
So recently I’ve noticed that, when I use Cloak and Dagger to stealth, then use Assassin’s signet, my character attacks without me telling him to and breaks out of stealth before I use backstab…
This doesn’t help me always, just happens sometimes. Not sure what’s happening
Anyone else also seeing this behavior?
Story: Sabotage
The voice over and the dialogue written does not correspond. There was even one part where the Priory guy speaks, and the Vigil dude appears.
This problem occurs in a few previous ones as well. The Priory dude would say something, but something else will appear as text.
Truly well written post. Hope more people will read it despite it being a rather huge wall of text!
I have a suggestion to the game developers.
They should introduce a new Charr racial skill, “Stand still, meat!”
I’m sure those of you who played GW1 will recognize this battlecry. It’s something I found hilarious, and am slightly sad that I haven’t encountered any Charr yelling this.
So what better way to pay homage to the original game, while having a somewhat humorous skill name? Make it a 1-s short-range immobilize or something. Nothing overpowered, but I want my Charr to have the ability to yell it out!
I remember in GW1, there was a target that would calculate your DPS over 5-10-15 seconds, and this tool made it really easy for me to optimize my builds and such.
Is there something similar in GW2? There’s target golems strewn everywhere, but is there one that’ll actually tell me my DPS?
Just wondering. Does anyone have an answer?
Playing 4v5s because a teammate just decides not to show up is very frustrating. So I suggest some kind of punishment system for leavers.
If such a penalty was in place, it would discourage people from not showing to sPvP/tPvP. I also play LoL, and I think their method is something that can be implemented. If a player is absent for most of the game’s duration, at the end of the game they will be penalized. Maybe a slight hit to rank or glory, or something. But there has to be some kind of penalty, or people will continue to not show up in these game types.
So I had a question, do these two stack?
Say if I used Sharpening Stone. Before I attack at all, my health somehow drops below 75%. Will I now have 10 attacks? Or will they not stack and I only have 5 attacks still?
Also what’s the cooldown on Keen Edge? It doesn’t seem to list any. Is there no cooldown?
I entered Twilight Arbor explorable mode, and I noticed I could not select anything with my left-click or right-click. I restarted the client and it appears it fixed it.
HOLY kitten VOLTAIC SPEAR SKIN. HOLY kitten HOLY kitten.
Off-topic, but I rocked the Voltaic for my main (Paragon) so I’m so happy the skin is in the game.
Anyways, thanks! This is a great resource.
I’m trying to look for some exotic skins for my short/longbows. There’s a ton of those greatsword galleries out there, but does anyone know of a good gallery for bow skins? Thanks.
LOL at this screenshoot. U show 1/10 of all servers where some1 play and that is proof “spvp dont die” ?
I can upload SS where players play only at 7 servers and rest is empty.
Cool dude, go ahead. This screenshot is not meant to be proof that “spvp isn’t dead”. It’s meant to disprove a previous user’s claim that “nobody plays spvp anymore.” Which is an exaggeration and false.
Whether spvp is dying? That’s a more fuzzy idea and an argument I honestly do not care to get into.
So I enjoy running dungeons with friends, but I’m not really doing them for the armor sets.
I’m accumulating all these tokens, which I don’t wish to use…What other uses are there for them aside from the obvious? (Getting the armor of the dungeon)
except nobody plays spvp anymore and it’s because there is no competition. so my “opinion” is a fact.
I’m not sure what you’re hoping to accomplish by throwing out these ridiculous hyperboles and completely untrue claims and trying to pass them off as “facts.”
Look at the screenshot. Obviously people are playing spvp. Now this is a “fact.”
And I played around 4-5 tournaments yesterday too. So obviously people are playing tPvP.
So…Er. Yea. Sure, whatever you want dude.
no. ranking is THE single most important aspect of ANY competitive game.
Nope. That is your opinion.
In MY opinion, I think bug fixes and balance between class is more important.
But that’s MY opinion. So I don’t expect many people to care or be seen by anyone as constructive. But I don’t go around pontificating my opinions like they are facts. Now that’s just silly.
Sorry Ragnar, it really isn’t that different. Yes they are different industries but once things become standard features, consumers expect those features to be a complete product.
Erm. No, they are completely different.
Car manufacturing companies (heck most electronic companies like Apple/Dell) purchase most of their parts and components from subcontractors, who are specialized in building very specific parts. These parts work for the most part, because they have entire companies dedicated to designing/refining them and have gone through many many many iterations.
In game companies, you are building everything from the GROUND UP. Sure, Anet has different teams for different aspects of the game, but just by sheer manpower, this comparison is way off (considering there are probably millions of workers who directly or indirectly contribute to the construction of a car).
Sure, there’s concepts like leaderboards that other games have already done. But Anet can’t simply take that portion of the code and slap it into their game (due to reasons of differing programming languages/proprietary issues/simple code incompatibility who knows). They actually have to figure out, from scratch, how to build that feature within their own game. Which isn’t as simple as it sounds.
Anyways, the industry comparisons aren’t valid at all. It’s downright silly.
I couldn’t care less with people complaining. It is their opinion. But to make silly comparisons like this is…..silly.
Same here. Got both keys, gate won’t open!.
The title is self-explanatory. I store things like tournament tickets in my bank, but I can’t access it in the Mists. It would be a lot more convenient if there is a bank tab in the PvP locker.
That’s how it’s supposed to work. You arn’t supposed to be able to easily 1v2 people. If you want a game like that you should play a game where gear matters so you can roflstomp badly geared people. Then you can even 1v3 or 1v4!
I think you misunderstand. This doesn’t have anything to do with gears. 1v2 by itself isn’t easy. But the downed system makes it nigh impossible, which is my point.
Well but looking at a situation where person A BARELY downs person B, then due to his low hp he can’t even go for stomping B just because C will do a lot of damage in that 3 seconds, stability be kitten Which again, makes the 1v2 very hard to pull off.
I main a Guardian. I bring stability in the form of my F3 skill and that trait that gives stability during the F3 skill.
Thing is though, It’s a 90s cooldown, and in 1v2s I frequently have to burn it so I don’t get cc’d/burst down. Hence I usually do not have it for the actual stomping.
I guess the obvious answer to that would be to use an utility slot for a skill like “Stand your ground” But wasting an entire utility slot just for stomping purposes?
I suppose I can try that out. But it just decreases my chance of winning that 1v2 in the first place since I’m missing that utility slot for a more useful utility (Like “Save Yourselves”)
Or 1v3 even.
I feel that the downed system makes it so hard to pull off a successful 1v2 and shifts the advantage greatly to the outnumbering side, regardless of skill.
Say Player A is fighting player B and C. When A downs B, C and B combined has many oppurtunities to interrupt A’s finisher attempt, and C has a very good chance of reviving B.
So it becomes very difficult for anyone to outright win a 1v2, despite the skill differences. This becomes really discouraging for me, because winning/losing becomes less about skill and more about numbers.
Of course, this is all based on my personal experience. But what do the rest of you think of the downed state in PvP, and the easy of pulling off victory while outnumbered?
The Alpha Drake directly south of Lion’s Arch in the northern area of Bloodtide Coast is not animating properly. His model does not move at all, and he just slides across the ground. Nothing is being animated.
This is a screenshot I took after he died. He stayed in that same position the entire time, even after his death. I don’t have a video of the thing, but next time I will take one.
Eh, I imagine from the programming perspective, it’s handled the same as all the other skills. Hence it’s not considered a “bug” really. Though it’ll be nice to make it seem more realistic, I highly doubt they’ll spend the time to make this skill “special” and different from all the other skills.
Heck, I don’t want them to spend time on trivial things like this. Plenty of other game-breaking bugs to worry about.
While it makes sense from a immersion stand-point, but doesn’t from a gameplay perspective.
Imagine the exploits you can do with it. Notice enemy beyond the wall. Use ability, without him able to retaliate.
I’m confused. I thought the Charrzooka was a Charr skill, not an actual buyable weapon?
Question! How did you get the 2nd set? What is it called?
And I vote for the 2nd.
That’s interesting. I don’t have the screenshot since I wasn’t really looking out for this problem when I did my story, my sister had very dark hair/skin and looked like someone from Elona, even though I had chosen my ancestry to be Canthan.
Either way, I think it’s a better idea just to take the character’s skin/hair colors and apply them to your sister, for cases like when you have pale-skinned Elonians or dark-skinned Ascalonians.
Thanks for the reply though.
I’m doing the human “Missing Sister” storyline and when I finally find her, she looks NOTHING like me.
A suggestion is, maybe making it so that this character has the same skin/hair color as the person who owns the instance. That way she’ll look a little bit like your actual sister. Dunno how hard it is to implement, but just a thought!
Intel stock cooler good enough to cool system for GW2?

Hey all,
Thanks for your replies. Very informative. But I have a question since I am somewhat of a computer noob, but what’s overclocking? And how do I check if I’m not overclocking?
Intel stock cooler good enough to cool system for GW2?

Hello,
So I recently purchased a computer with an i7-3770 processor (4x 3.40GHz/8MB L3 Cache)
The thing is, it comes with the stock Intel cooler. I was wondering though, if the stock cooler is enough to keep the CPU temperatures reasonable (~70-80 C?) while playing GW2 at the highest settings. Or should I consider getting a better CPU fan?
My GPU is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 – 2GB if this information is useful.
Thanks for any advise.
^ A very well written an insightful post that, I hope everyone who has complaints about the economy reads.
Very tough to enforce. What if the seller got the gold and already used it up on something else? Where’s the gold gonna come?
Easy to implement buyback for NPC vendors, but refund from players? Good luck with that.
What I mean is, make dungeon tokens be able to be traded over the BLTC.
I’ve played GW1, so I wish the system was very similar. If you wanted to craft FoW armor, you needed shards and ectos. If you needed Vabbian armor, you needed rubies and sapphires. But if someone didn’t want these armor, he could simply sell them to other people while still running FoW with your friends. And if you wanted these armor but didn’t want to farm the specific area for whatever reason, you can still buy your ectos/shards.
The reasoning is two-fold, and I am simply repeating what I have said previously. For players who want to run dungeons but don’t necessarily want the armor look, they can simply sell the token for gold that will go into other endeavors that may not necessarily be related.
And on the other hand, for players who do not want to dungeon but still want the look, they can earn money other ways and buy the tokens with the gold they earn from other sources.
I think this gives players more flexibility on whether to play dungeons or not, because it rewards players who want to just dungeon, and not necessarily get the skins, and helps players who just want the skin, and do not want to grind the dungeon.
Of course, I guess Anet will have to adjust the token rewards amount a little bit so that it’s still difficult to get these tokens without making them too ridiculously expensive. I personally have no idea where the balance would be, but it’s the concept that’s important, I think.
Any thoughts/comments? I’m interested in knowing what other players think.
Hahahahaha.
Izziee, I commend you on your posts.
George Steel, the way you’re reacting to Izziee’s post insultingly/immaturely pretty much reinforces his point: that you may have come across as condescending/insulting and gave legit reason for these people to boot you. Obviously I can be completely wrong, but unless you show us the actual chat log, I am leaning toward the fact that, yes, you did somewhat deserve it.
With the TP lacking previews, it is hard to tell what gear looks like. ;_; That said, I did a lot of research on armor looks before making my characters, and IMHO there is a good amount of more modest and practical looking gear for female heavy armor wearers; even more than there is really skimpy sexy stuff. I am sure I am missing a lot of options though as my only heavy armor wearer is a low level male.
Here are some suggestions aside from the Vigil armor or transmuting your old set. ^^
1. Level 80 crafted set — believe it is called Draconic (exotic?), and it definitely doesn’t have that “metal bikini” style going on.
2. Cultural sets – any tier for human, or tier 1 for Norn (personally I think the tier 2 human set looks awesome).
3. Different lower level sets — the tier 3/4 crafted sets offer good coverage and look pretty great IMHO! I also noticed a karma set on one of the Diessa Plateau heart vendors looks very practical and full covereage. Heck, you may have been wearing one of those, but looking at the armor galleries there seem to be quite a few options that aren’t skimpy.
Crafted armor sets (not my pic): http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/4756/craftedarmorsv2.jpg
You’re probably aware of most of these, but just in case not, I thought it couldn’t hurt to mention them. ^^ I am always looking for the perfect armor for my characters, so I wish you luck in finding a look you like!
Excuse me, what website did you get the image from?
Once you log into the game, on your character selection screen, there should be a “World Selection” button. Press it and choose the server you want to transfer to.
I’m currently at lvl 225 Jeweler right now, and I want to make a set of jewelry for my low level friends.
But the thing is, it seems like I’m unable to discover any of the low-level recipes. I know for a fact, for example, that I didn’t discover everything with Pearl or Amber, but when I open the discovery tab they just do not show up.
Why’s that? Once past a certain level, can I just never craft these lower lvl stuff? I really hope not…!
You are absolutely correct. Thank you sir.
Where is a single Anet employee saying ‘Yes, we hear you’?
Outrageous all around.
If you look, there’s plenty of threads in the forums where they have stated that they “know of the issue” and tell the players to have patience. =)
Now whether they actually do anything or not is a different matter…
Same song, same dance. For example Gamers First is still playing this same song and dance in All Points Bulletin after 2 years.
Actions speak louder than words.
Oh I’m not disagreeing with you. I think you must’ve misread my post. I’m just pointing out to the previous poster that his assertion that they haven’t acknowledged the problem as being completely wrong. They do acknowledge it. They just haven’t done anything about it.

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knows the name of the music played in the manifesto video
From 2:14 in the video to 4:00
Thanks in advance!
dear ref
this isn’t useless
Ah, but it is. You don’t specify the problem at all. What specific problems do you have with WvW? With the nerfs? Without these details your post is no help to anyone.
“Fix” WvW you say. What about WvW is there to fix we say. Don’t assume everyone else shares your opinions, or somehow we can read your mind and determine what exactly you think is the problem.
“No, it should be available for testing and experimenting ingame. We shouldn’t have to go to some website to read up on them…”
Eh, I mean, whether skills are combo finishers or combo field creators are listed on the skill’s tooptip. So you can easily look at which one of your skills create a field/combos off of it. And as several people have said, it’s off to the Mists to test them.
It’s already been mentioned somewhere as something that Anet does want to implement in the future.
When you first pre-ordered it, Anet should’ve sent you an email containing the serial code. Just search for “guild wars” in your email and it should be in there somewhere.
So recent I submitted a ticket: [Incident: 120920-000445]
I then got a reply from support@guildwars2.com, asking me for the following information
• Provide any Serial Codes that may have been used to register the account.
• If you purchased this account from us and you used a credit card, please provide the last 4 digits ONLY of the credit card used.
• If you purchased this account from us and you used PayPal®, please provide the Transaction ID or the Invoice ID associated with the original activation purchase.
• If you purchased this account from us and you have the Order ID number of the purchase, please provide that as well.
I just wanted to make sure that this is a legitimate request. I feel very uneasy giving away my serial code/last 4 digits of my CC, so I just wanted to make sure that this is actually legitimate and from you guys before I give any information.
Thank you for the time, and I apologize for my paranoia.
I find it amusing and ironic that a person who’s name is named after the Night Lords Primarch is telling people the virtues of sunlight.
…Sorry, ignore me, carry on.
