To be fair, you had a whole month to do it and you left it to the last minute.

You have no right to complain.

A problem similar to this one is affecting Dailys. There needs to be a common reset time that is not different for each server and is well known, i.e., midnight of the last day of a month, or, for Dailys, at midnight of each day. Less problems, less headache.

There is one common reset time for every server though. 4 pm pacific time (whatever that is in GMT.) All servers reset at this one time.

Are you positive on that? Has it changed recently? Because up until I stopped logging in 2 weeks ago it reset at 7pm CST every day like clockwork. I would finish my dailies mere minutes before reset, as late as 6:55pm CST.

That would be 5pm pacific time.

It changed due to daylight savings.

@Nonlinear.

I think our core disagreement lies in our opinions on the usefulness of these “gimmicks” as you call them. I think some of these gimmicks (vigor on crit and aoe on crit for me personally) is very very useful, and worth sacrificing damage (and even pure survivability in terms of hp/toughness).

But I do agree with you in essence. In a vacuum, when looked at from a pure DPS perspective, Power → crit damage → precision is the order of importance stat-wise.

While obviously, the term “intricate” is a matter of opinion, there’s still some nice skins out there that fall in your category (30-70g range).

There’s some dungeon skins that are pretty nice. Arah weapons have a slight glow to them. AC weapons glow at night. CoE weapons have that electric things going on.

You have the mystic weapons too, which are just like CoE weapons but blue. Very affordable. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mystic_weapon

There were some halloween skins too that falls under this category. I remember during Halloween, the Greatsaw was around 50-60G. I’m sure it’s much more expensive now, but I have a feeling Wintersday will have something similar.

There’s the Corrupted weapons, which take around 30 Corrupted Lodestones, which go around I think ~1g50s ish on the market. Which is about what, 45g? Also falls into this range.

There are plenty of these medium-tiered skins out there, you just have to look for them!

Hello,

Recently I tried to purchase 1600 gems using my credit card, but I received this error message after I input all the information and pressed “confirm”

What’s the problem? If anyone could help me with this issue, it would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there. What region are you in? And when did you attempt to purchase? Thanks for this report — the team is on the case!

I’m based in California. I am on server Crystal Desert. I attempted to make this purchase earlier this morning at 3 am. It’s also my first attempt at purchasing gems, if it matters.

Thanks!

I don’t think falling damage should be counted, IMO, since it scales based on a user’s HP. And besides, it’s the obvious best way to get big numbers.

high crit + low crit damage = sadface

This is only relevant for direct damage.

You know, real damage and stuff.

Oh I understand. I guess my point was I can understand the decision to make crit rate impact pure damage less than crit damage, because crit rate can contribute to a number of other things not related to damage. (Buffs, conditions, etc…)

True. But with high crit damage you can still get the procs and do more damage at the same time. It’s not really about procs since you can still proc, it’s more about what you give up when you trade long term damage (usually crit damage) for healing/defense/survivability or condition damage.

I look at a lot of builds and plug the values in and sometimes I’ll find direct damage builds where people totally ignore their crit modifier and end up trading up to 30% or 40% of their long run damage for things like gimmicky 1-2k heals or vitality/toughness because they ignore crit damage and use those other stats in their build. They still have high crit and get lots of stacks and proc lots of stuff but overall it still scales rather poorly due to that stupid crit modifier buried in the factor that they ignored/don’t understand.

It’s a very good point. But like I said, crit rate isn’t only related to damage though. Some players actually don’t really care about damage, but are more worried about critting frequently to activate certain effects. So if an equivalent amount of crit dmg and precision contributed the same amount to pure damage, there would be no reason (or very few reason) to get crit damage.

….So I guess I’m agreeing with you. Yea, Crit Dmg (after power) is the stat to go instead of precision for damage, but I can understand why Anet made it so precision is weaker (in terms of damage)

Yea, I used to run this two, but it’s only a 1 second bleed. You’re better off with something else in the 1st tier of Skirmishing, like the 30% crit damage or movement speed for pets.

Thanks for the suggestion. I didn’t know it was only a 1s bleed. But I mainly use Devourers as pets, and mainly use them as a source for quickness. So the speed/might/crit damage really isn’t too useful for me. So I end up choosing the least suckiest trait…(First World Ranger problems)

Well, but Crits aren’t used solely for damage. Some classes has traits that gives vigor/healing on crit. I personally play a condition ranger, and I carry the “bleed on crit” trait. For me, I want as high crit rate as possible but don’t really care about crit damage.

Make pet abilities (F2) instant

in Ranger

Posted by: Ursan.7846

Ursan.7846

When I try to activate the F2 pet ability I usually hammer F2 because more often than not it doesn’t activate because the pet was interrupted or something. However, there is no feedback so I am left clueless. Is the ability going to activate? That is why I think the F2 abilities should be instant and thus more reliable.
One weakness of the pet mechanic is that it is unreliable.

Part of it is your pet trying to get in range to use that attack, or that pet is doing something else.

I always notice on my Jellyfish pet, when I use F2. It doesn’t use it immediately. However, it does start moving towards my target, and it activates when it reaches it.

Also for the Devourer pet. Sometimes, I’ll press F2, but it’s in the middle of burrowing away from something. Again, it just takes a while, then it starts charging up and uses it.

Shark’s one of the exceptions. It’s F2 is a self-buff, so it happens instantaneously. But many times, the Shark’s actually not attacking my target and some of the buff is wasted.

But anyways, instant F2, I don’t think is a very good idea. Imagine the complaints of “My pet just used his F2 skill and it didn’t hit anything because it didn’t bother to get in range.” I think a better idea is a good indicator that the command has been received by the pet, and the pet is trying to do it, within whatever limits it has.

Do you really think this ability will be useful against any other classes other than…Thieves? Do you seriously think this ability will be at all useful against a class like say Mesmer? Why would I slot in this ability over, say, RaO when facing a Mesmer?

And that is exactly the point I am trying to make here. A skill that’s only useful for one specific matchup is not a good idea.

The question is, why are you using longbow autoattack? Why not shortbow?

I am not a big fan of the condition damage playstyle. I like to play a heavy hitter, not necessarily a glass cannon but I prefer damage over conditions. shouldn’t we have this option?

Well Longbow has great utility. It’s 2 is decent burst, vulnerability from 3 is nice, 4 is nice, 5 is nice…but it’s autoattack is soooooooooo uninspiring. If you plan on mainly using autoattacks, shortbow would be your best bet. It does less damage but the firing rate is so much faster. Even if you ignore condition damage, I’m pretty sure it out damages longbow (by just autoattack). And in addition, you have a interrupt on 5 which is so so so useful.

This is a really bad idea, from a balance standpoint. Make one class HARD counter another class’s core mechanic?

This specialization is the very thing Anet wants to avoid. And as a Ranger, I would HATE this to be implemented because everyone would look at me and expect me to be a thief counter, when I can be carrying other (also very useful elites) like Vines and Rez Spirit.

Aww somone doesn’t want their thief to be killed =\ and thief needs a hard counter from at least 1 class…they burst down all classes like they nothing, and not every ranger will be running that elite, and the elite only works with thiefs it gives no benefit when attacking necros, eles, guardians, warriors, or engineers….its not going to ruin the game if 1 class can beat a class that beats all other classes.

Like a previous poster, you seem to be missing my point entirely. I’m not arguing that stealth isn’t strong. The idea that one specific class hard counters the mechanics of another specific class goes against the philosophies of Anet (against serious specialization) and doesn’t really address the core problem, which is the OPness of stealth itself.

If you actually paid attention to this thread, you should note that I state pretty clearly I’m a ranger player, and I do not like this idea. If you’re going to try to sound patronizing, you should avoid making such uninformed assumptions.

Which is kinda funny, because the major things pointed out in the review (cooperative play, dynamic events, lack of holy trinity, beauty of the world, ease or reaching lvl 80, how fun PvP/WvW is) haven’t changed.

I can only answer for a Ranger.

Ranger GS has the following utilities:
1. Evade on third auto-attack chain
2. 1200 range leap on skill #3
3. A skill similar to blocking stance which can be chained into a cripple
4. A stun/daze on skill #5

Whereas Sword has
1. Cripple on autoattack chain #3
2. Evades on skills 2 and 3.

And that’s it. Of course, there’s also the option of using offhands, but still, from a PvP perspective, GW utility cannot be beat.

Ursan.7846

Well you know what? Stealth hard counters EVERYTHING! Stealth hard counters vision, targeting, pet ai, all arrow attacks, and it hard counters any chance of survival when downed. Furthermore, if you think “Vines” aka Entangle is a good Elite you should probably not play Ranger. Entangle is hands down the worst ranger elite in the game. It would be just barely viable if it was on a 60 or 45 second cooldown, but right now it’s too kitten easy to get out of. If a Ranger tries to Entangle me I can easily dodge it because of the horrid animation and it lets me know he wasn’t smart enough to use RaO. So, I’ll be happy to knock him around with greatsword.

I’m not arguing that stealth is strong. But you’re missing the point of my post. By giving rangers, and only rangers, the ability to counter this ability, you’re giving rangers an incredibly specialized role (COUNTER THIEVES. And only thieves). And that pretty much flies in the face of Anet’s philosophy.

As for Entangle, I’m sure personally, you’ve dodged every single Entangle that’s been thrown at you. However, if you’re using personal experience, then I’ve hit many many Entangles on other players myself in WvW (I carry RaO in sPvP) by watching people use up dodge or catching people unaware. Of course it doesn’t work on every class (like mesmers can blink out of it) but it’s still an incredibly useful elite if used smartly against the correct matchup.

“barely viable with a 45-60s cd?” Good lord sir, it would be utterly broken. But anyways, that’s enough of a tangent. Entangle being good/not good (your opinion, I do respect it) still doesn’t change the fact that your suggestion isn’t very good and unlikely to be implemented.

Or, you know, some of us are financially responsible people who don’t spend money unless I have a reasonable amount so that I won’t go broke. If you’re so broke you can’t repair your armor, then I suggest you lay off buying upgrades/siege weapons for a while.

You should just run nothing but AC over and over again, 3 paths a day. With a good efficient group you can do all 3 paths in under 2 hours, and earn ~2-3 gold if you do the gold graveling mobs that drop 5 silver each, do kohler when troll spawns, etc.

On top of the gold, you should have AC tokens. Purchase AC gear with them, and salvage them for ectos. Sell for even more money.

Then use the money to buy exotics from TP! You should be able to purchase like a piece in 2 days.

Why are Legendary Equipment Tied to WvW???

I got 2 badges of honor because I found a loot bag someone didn’t get to pick up. Ridiculous reward system

If you got that loot bag, it means you contributed enough to that kill in order to get that loot bag. If you didn’t contribute anything to a kill, that loot bag will not show up, so it’s impossible for you to pick up someone else’s loot bag.

What server are you on anyways? I find it hard to believe you’re in a 1 vs 20 fight, even outside your spawn point. Even if that is the case, there are Legendary Defender NPCs that pretty much 1-shot people. If you lure people in by hitting him a few times, you should get a loot bag for that.

Another option is to avoid big fights all together. Like I said before, bring a few friends. Camp supply lines. Usually 1-2 players pass along. You can jump them and kill them quickly.

I understand your frustration, and I understand you hate WvW. I’m not disagreeing with you on anything. You can hate on WvW all you like. I’m slightly annoyed however, because from the things you are saying, it gives me the impression that you simply have not spent the effort/time into doing this task. Even Kaineng, the worst WvW server for a while, has won WvW matchups. I’m just trying to help you by giving you suggestions and methods which you can get these badges from.

Ursan.7846

I’m sorry, but it seems that you’re making the assumption that your server has to be “competitive” in WvW in order to earn badges.

That is far from true. You earn badges through the following methods.

1. killing players
2. completing jumping puzzles
3. killing supply camp/keep supervisors.

1. Killing players is easy even if your server sucks utterly. In fact, it’s somewhat easier. If your server sucks utterly, you should be pushed right outside your spawn, and the battle’s always there anyways. So go there, join the fight, try to pick off a few people, and hope for loot bags.

2. The borderland jumping puzzles may be challenging. But the EB JP, as I stated previously, has a perma-stealth which you can obtain so that you don’t have to bother with jerks who grief people in there.

3. This is probably the hardest to do in a underpopulated server. But a good group of 4-5 people can sneak past the enemy and take over supply camps deep in their enemy territory. And again, it’s actually easier to do because the more their servers dominate, the less people they’re likely to have defending these sites. Hit the supply camps, make sure you hit the supervisor to loot him for the badges.

I think you’ve made it plenty clear in your posts you don’t like WvW. We understand. But this whining won’t change anything. Legendaries are for people who participate in all aspects of the game (except PvP). if there are some aspects you don’t like to do… Well, that’s too bad isn’t it? What I suggest to you is again, do your research, put in some effort, perhaps get some friends to help you, and DO IT, instead of coming here and whining about how unfair it is.

And perhaps after all that hard work, the reward will be that much sweeter.

If you haven’t crafted yet, crafting two professions to 400 will get you 20 levels.

You can grind dungeons. Each dungeon run gives you like 70% of your exp bar. Especially the easier ones, like AC, can be done in like ~30 mins per run for loads of exp.

I’ve also noticed personal story gives you pretty hefty chunks too.

I’ve been crafting on my Ranger, as well as done a few dungeon runs. I probably should have specified what I want: A way to get a new character off the ground as fast as possible (for the creation of a new guild, specifically).

My advise to you is still the same. Do your personal story, do events/hearts while you’re running to those instances, craft, and do dungeons when you hit 35.

Any tips on quick leveling?

If you haven’t crafted yet, crafting two professions to 400 will get you 20 levels.
