+11111!
Nobody ever seems to even react to or notice my map pings. Bring back the sound from GW1, it seems obvious to me that this is necessary.
Also agree with the guy that said it’s bugged and pings do not always work. I have had the same problem.
I don’t think you are right about that actually. On no other class I have played do you get slowed down to a crawl just for jumping out of your base in spvp. It is extremely noticeable and unfair as it stands.
Good point! Then I amend my suggestion to this – falling damage should not trigger the ranger slowdown.
Please… if you are going to keep adding ways for people to make a racket then at least give us a volume slider specifically for instruments. I’m sick of turning my effects right down because some numpty is spamming warhorn noises as a troll.
Sign me up for this – the living story / achievements notifications should be optional.. I only spvp and it is a horrible eyesore and completely unneccessary to me – at least make it when you are in pvp and wvw the living story doesn’t show up, since it’s mainly a pve feature.
Having gotten into ranger lately, I’ve obviously noticed the (slightly strange) movement slowdown restriction that is applied when a ranger or his pet gets into combat. That’s all fine and well (kinda annoying though tbh…) but I find myself getting slowed down when taking falling damage – such as by jumping out of the starting gate in pvp instead of just letting myself fall down.
I’ve adjusted for it mostly now but I still don’t think that falling damage should put you into “combat mode”… it’s a pretty big deal to feel like you have a cripple on you when you are just out of your gate…
Hi folks..
Coming from GW1 I got pretty used to that feature you had over there where when you die you are able to click on a team-mate’s name and instantly have the camera switch over so you can see where they are and what they’re up to. I really miss that when I’m spvping. Any chance of it here?
Anyone got any guesses to what this might be?
For anyone wondering what I’m on about.. next time you’re in the Heart of the Mists, open up your map and zoom out a bit.
Weird thing is it’s on a map used for pvp battlegrounds but it has a completion bar with skill points and hearts – more like a pve area.. Though this is surely a bug as it’s showing me as 23% complete!
I know it’s just the first night and bound to be busy but I am finding dragon ball near unplayable at times, especially on the jump pads… they end up pinging me up and down about 3 times before finally getting up to the top. Maybe this could be looked at?
It really needs a “whoomph” or a “whoooh” sound effect… it is definitely lacking.
People are able to interfere with the Moas racing, is this intended?
It seems that the Ele’s Lightning Hammer has a skill that makes an electric field that sticks the moas… They are using it every race on Desolation server. They can sometimes stick a few of moas for a bit at the start, then make them run around in circles at the wooden ramp bit over and over again.
It makes it kinda futile imo.
Also – strange graphical anomaly noticed on those that were using the hammer – a large whitish/transparent cube around them on their side.. it looks like their hitbox is visible..
Any word on this Arenanet?
Starting to feel like I’ve been converted to free trial
Also I Really wanted that tentacle backpack… guess I’ll be missing that?
Update: I still cannot access the game. That’s 2 weeks now. One strange occurrence – I downloaded the latest update last night, and after it downloaded the game booted correctly first time. I thought the problem was fixed, closed the game and went to bed. Today I try it and it’s back to how it was before, unresponsive.
Ok thanks for the clarification.
I’ve tried it again doing a proper clean boot this time and still the same problem.

The last log I posted was with all Non-microsoft processes off (like it said on the tutorial you posted). Nothing else has changed but gw2, so I’m sure it’s not something new on my end.
Thanks for the responses. I still have this issue.
Abomally I took your advice and removed Spybot, and did a clean boot. Still exactly the same problem. I took another game advisor report while running on a clean boot (attached). If there is any other thing you want me to try then let me know.

Cufta thanks for the suggestion but it didn’t work for me, and I tried it three times.
Hi Arenanet folks,
I am having the same problem as this chap. This all started after I downloaded the latest big update on Friday. I press Play after Login and the game freezes, and becomes a bit white unresponsive box, that only a Ctrl, Alt Delete will close. It does not come up with any error messages.
Here is my game advisor report.

I’m having the same sort of issue as this (since friday when I downloaded the big update). Basically I press Login or let it auto-login and the loader freezes and becomes a big white unresponsive box. It will not even reach the character select screen. Something needs to be done here.
I find the voices around tryia to be distracting and a bit annoying so I like to turn the dialog right down. However, of course I’d like to hear my character speak in a cutscene. Maybe you could split the volume sliders? Thanks

I LOVE THIS UPDATE!!!
I haven’t been playing much lately but that will all change for the next month… I’d like to see more of these “games within the game” that don’t require a level 80 character or any gear (for the lazy sods like me!)
Well the reason I came on the forums is because it doesn’t seem logical for them to be able to instantly aggro you when you’re nowhere near them, have no sight of you and the player has no clue you’re there. I don’t know why people get so negative when a genuine question / comment is raised.
How come mesmer illusions & clones seem to be able to see where I am hiding through 6 feet of solid rock? They don’t even have line of sight yet they are straight on you as soon as you’re out of stealth. Annoying as in spvp. Shouldn’t the clones be less intelligent than their human master?
I can kind of see why pets can “sniff” you out but clones? Naaah.
I can’t say if this is still happening to me or not but I pretty much abandoned the Nicknames right at the start near launch as they kept on disappearing so it’s not a brand new issue. I never reported it though just thought nothing of it really.
When you ask Mr. Sparkles a question he cannot answer, he says “Insufficient data at this time”. Clearly a reference to Data from Star Trek.
There needs to be more desirable stuff in the cash shop. Enough of this twee Quaggan / cat pets and stuff. It’s all a bit girly.
To answer your original question – there is a “reverse camera” option you can bind to some key. It is really handy, just looks behind you. Then there is the “free Camera” which can also be bound to a button so you can hold it down and swing your camera behind you without your character deviating from his course. It took me a while to find comfy keys for these but I got there in the end with the help of a G600 mouse and a program called Sharpkeys that lets you re-bind any key to anything you like on a regular keyboard. I’d say check it out.
One thing that will deter more and more new people from getting into TPvP is the constant rank req increase. The majority of people will only ask for, say, 40+ or 30+ rank people, some even ask by QP’s and many will require you to play their way or no way.
This is more a mindset issue imo. It’s fair enough to want to seek out people of a similar skill level to you. Just remember that there are plenty of skilled people that simply joined the pvp side of gw2 a bit later than you did. To simply rule out anyone under rank 40 is pretty silly if you ask me. Especially when rank can be farmed easily with one other person when you just swap cap shrines. Then it becomes more a “time spent” indicator than a “skill” indicator.
It will lead to what you had in GW1 in HA where unless you played from the beginning (or had some skilled friends to take you under their wing) then it’s practically impossible to join a highly ranked team (or any team at all).
The rank req Always Rises so this is just going to get more and more pronounced as the months and years fly by.

Well yeah, my idea just gets you to that maximum distance in a time frame that is a lot less than is currently. It’s currently a mad scramble that rarely works as well as I hoped.
I think having the theif’s downed teleport on the “select your target area” type mechanic is a little frustrating as it is. Very rarely does it work like it should.
My idea is this: use the mechanic you’ve already got on skills like Warrior’s number 3 greatsword, where it just gives you an arrow and direction. Then you select your direction, click and it takes you to the maximum range of the teleport in that direction.
Pretty hilarious watching the opinions on certain classes shift.. just 2 or 3 months back probably 80% of people on the forums were complaining ele was weak as a bag of kittens. Now everyone wants them nerfed.
They did reveal some stuff which was cool.. I like these videos please do them more often but maybe with some better presenters (such as the gamebreaker crew). The presenter on this one only had “Fair Enough” to say, and didn’t even seem interested in your answers. He also totally missed or ignored your offer to allow the stream to continue at the end… Something more professional and democratic would be really nice, such as a “Hot Topics” video answering some of the most pressing questions of the moment.
Oh my god the game is meant to be played for fun!!! Get the pitchforks out guys I think it’s time to go hunt some witches….
Seriously, if you’re not enjoying playing the game then why play? Play for fun and you’ll have a lot more.. well, fun.
I was going to suggest either allowing stacking in the locker or simply add a more traditional storage on to the bottom, that just has free slots for any “spares & miscellaneous” pvp gear you have.
Reasoning? It’s a pain to have to work through every character, checking to see if you want to keep that spare you just unlocked on your main… And then having to log out and in again about 10 times to complete the process. Waste of time…
The “monthly” can be achieved in a couple of hours… bit of a joke tbh. After the 1st of each month most pvpers have no monthly goal any more..
I’d make it something like this: Keep a low monthly achievement, a bit like it is now but maybe a bit harder, and add a new pvp-only system that tracks your cumulative kills/wins/scores etc for the whole month. then at the end of the month you get a piece of random loot, the teir of which depends on how much you actually did that month. So the very highest people could potentially unlock gear that is outside of their current rank, OR just add some new “monthly-only” gear to get people really going crazy for it…
Post Processing on “Low” gives me the warmest and best colours. Off and High are both worse than Low for me.
I take back what I said about the bug being gone.. It was gone for a little while and then came back later on in the night… I updated the logitech software but it made no difference. Only seemed to happen to me in spvp combat, not in the mists.
Right, strangely today it seems to be okay…. but I definitely had major lag and unresponsiveness yesterday. I’ll chalk this one down to a glitch in the matrix and be thankful it’s gone away…
Nice! Desolation it is.
Put it this way – prior to yesterday I had never even participated in a paid tournament and today I’m sitting on 8QP and a stack of nice loot. I got lucky and fell into a great team and we had an absolute blast! If it goes back to only the old system I probably won’t participate again. Some system where you can create your own tournaments would be amazing.
Right, just to jump on the bandwagon of using (abusing?) the guesting system in this fashion…
Why don’t we try and establish firm EU and NA sPvP servers, specifically for tournament groups to find each other. It makes sense!
I remember this being tried before guesting and I tried some of the suggested servers and found absolutely no difference personally. I think that with the ease of guesting though, people will be much more mobile and willing to hop over.
Is this already a thing? If not let’s make it one!!!
I noticed something last night while playing spvp.
I have a G600 mouse which basically has a crap load of buttons by your right thumb, and also an extra button on the right that acts as a Shift key (so each button can essentially have 2 functions).
So I used to use it for Weapon swapping, and general stuff like that – no long complicated macro’s just Shift + (wep swap), or Shift + skill 9 etc etc.
Basically this used to work great but since I started playing again it is now bugged.. If I use any “alternate” function by using the Shift button It does a really ANNOYING lag thing, where your action takes about 4 or 5 seconds to complete, and you have NO control of your character!! He basically walks forward or backward of his own accord when trying to weapon swap. I know Anet isn’t keen on Macro’s so has this been intentionally added?? Surely this isn’t considered cheating – your own Guild Wars 2 mouse was advertised with the ability to program Macro’s so what’s the deal?
Unintentional bug or intentional “F-you” to anyone using a fancy mouse?

I know this is still maybe early days for this tech, but it’s never too early to start thinking about the next big thing! Imagine fully immersed VR GW2, where you look around in game by actually turning your head. Sounds like the future to me. My suggestion to you is to order up a Dev Kit and get busy!
Any chance of a confirmation as to whether this was intentional or not???
The last update seems more like a punishment than a christmas present what with these audio changes and the inability to preview another classes gear.
Shocked and dismayed at this decision. You took a piece of the game that I recall no one ever complaining about and “fixed” it – actually made a very annoying thing out of it. Change it back Anet. You are going down the wrong road by restricting freedom of choice like this.
Hey guys. I’ve noticed since the last update that my characters no longer “speak”. That is, they don’t say a peep about their conditions, state of their health or adrenaline etc.
Now, most people probably won’t notice this right away, but for me it was Essential. You see, I LOVE playing PvE with the UI off. It is just so much more immersive in my opinion, and a nice challenge! BUT: The only way I’d know if I was going to die was the audio cue telling me I needed healing.
I doubt you guys would just throw away all that audio work so I assume this is a bug but I thought I’d post it here in the audio section so that it is seen by the correct team quickly. I hope you can fix this soon, thanks guys!
I’ll add my name to the list. Previews for all just makes sense for when clearing the inventory out…
… If logged out from the mists! I’m fed up of seeing my frankly *****y pve armor on the log-in screen. I do not play pve EVER so this is not going to change, but it would look soooo much nicer if you could show the pvp armor I have on. Simple if you make it trigger when you logged out from the mists.
