Figured this would happen. A bigkittento the WvW folks. Hairy Hank and his mamby pamby PvE can just hop into the WvW and be on the same level as those of us who have been WvWing for months.
Actually the PvE folks will be ahead of the WvWers, cause the best gear (ascended) only drops in PvE. Having to PvE to gear up to WvW was a huge fail in Rift. Kind of surprised to see Anet treading the same shameful path.
Honestly, if I had to choose between a PvEer with the best gear the game has to offer or an experienced WvWer in nothing but masterwork gear I’d go with the WvWer every time. Experience is almost always better than your equipment in this game, especially in WvW.

Don’t know about anyone here, but in the months since release, I’ve gotten enough fine transmution stones to kit out 4 character in armour i wanted for them. And i still have enough for one more character, extra armour on my main, and various weapon for them. haven’t spent a single gem on them either.
Same for me. I know I’ve gotten all of mine from map completion which seems to have a small chance for fine stones.

Cows = Gas bombs
Not to be a party pooper but thats actually historically accurate. They’re cow corpses and they carry all kinds of nastiness. In historical sieges they used to catapult human corpses to spread disease.
If only we could catapult those enemies back to their own side!
A good way to get rid of that Mesmer corpse that’s stinking up your keep.

One more thing about morning/night capping, it’s frustrating to see almost everything reset that you or others have spent time and money on but limiting the population wouldn’t be a right move, it would be better to make off peak capping less effective like increasing the point tick interval at certain hours until the afternoon perhaps.
Who’s afternoon?
The problem with this is that different servers have different peak hours depending on where their population mostly comes from. So any system that limits points during certain times of day are going to end up favoring one time zone over another. So if you have a server that’s all oceanic against a server that’s all NA they would currently just trade objectives, but if point gain was slowed during oceanic time then suddenly the NA server pulls ahead even though they’re doing the exact same thing as the server with the oceanic population.
I don’t think there will ever be an easy answer to nightcapping. Even if they added oceanic servers and forced Oceanic/NA/EU players to their respective datacenters it still wouldn’t completely eliminate nightcapping. I live in NA but play during oceanic hours because I work nights and usually play after work, and I know there are others like me out there.

So Kenig do you hate your own Garrison or something you broke it.
Shhhh … They’re remodelling with a new urban uptown chic look. We’ ll all be jealous, you watch.
Well they have to get it back first. IF we stay there a lot longer we will have squatters rights.
More space to fit zergs into lol
OMG! They need to sell a “Clown Car” in the gem store that someone can deploy in WvW and an entire zerg can enter it to get a ride. It wouldn’t move any faster than normal running, it would just be funny.

Is there a bank NPC (or crafting station) anywhere in Orr? I haven’t been able to find any so I thought I’d ask here in case I missed it, since those don’t always show up on the map.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
To the TC group that chased my poor little asuran ranger around KNBL earlier: I have no idea how I survived that. O.o
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
Honestly what’s so bad about fighting the same 2 servers all the time if the match is close? I’ve enjoyed the BG/Kain/TC match-up more than any other match-up I’ve ever seen and would be thrilled to fight the same servers all the time.
I can understand how it could be bad in T8 where the top server always wins but doesn’t leave the tier, but the problem is that there currently isn’t any server that would be a good fit. SF dominates now but I think any server from T7 would dominate just as much if not more. Do you think the blowouts will be more fun if it’s a different server every week?
But Sorrow;s as they are now hasn’t been tested against T7. They have a much higher pop in WvW than they did when they dropped into T8. When they dropped into T8 against FC and ET they lost the first week, and won the second by 15k. 4 weeks later they are scoring 200k points higher than FC. The week before Sorrow’s dropped down they scored fairly closely to Henge. Something is there in Sorrow’s that wasn’t there before. Maybe if someone drops down we could compete,
Thank you, now that make sense to me. SF received a population increase that would make them more suitable for T7 or higher. I agree that something should be done to prevent T8 from becoming a sinkhole.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
Why would the 18th placed server be so much more amazing then the 19th placed server?
In fact, if you look at the match ups, of the current week, you will see that Point wise that 20th is closer to 18th then 18th is to 17th
I think the problem with this is that the points only show how a server is doing within it’s tier. For example; you can’t compare a point total in T5 to a point total in T6 and say, “look how close they are!” because each tier is isolated. Not sure if I’ve explained this well, does it make sense?
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
I have a s/d ele, though she is only around level 60 and I haven’t tried her out in WvW yet. I can say for PvE it’s fun at least.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
Psssst, we already have a thread going.

Anyway I’m up for considering other MMOs with open world PvP as long the following apply.
- They do not require a subscription
- Do not feature a continuous gear grind where gear is king and skill/build is second.
- Does not require macro/3rd party utilities to be competitive.I’d love to hear of one that meets those simple requirements. I’d even be willing to waive the subscription requirement.
Well you got 2 out of 3 that guild wars has.
You need a 3rd party VoIP to be competitive in WvW for GW2. There is no other way to effectively organize 5 or more players efficiently in GW2.
As you said, you need it for 5 or more players to be competitive, but it’s not necessary for everyone. I run solo as a scout all the time and map chat is all I need for that. In WvW gathering intel on the enemy is just as valuable as an organized fighting unit, so I’m able to contribute to my server without any 3rd party programs.

I won’t be able to play as much for the next few months (darn work!) but the little bit I got to play this morning was a blast. Lots of fun with the back and forth at Bay in KNBL, I just wish I could’ve stayed longer.
Looks like the BG that were attacking were mostly from the guild Urge, you guys are very quick to respond! I know because I was sloppy enough to get caught while scouting a couple of times. :P I hope this is what I have to look forward to for the rest of the week, good fights and less forum drama than previous weeks!
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
Since I usually run solo for scouting things haven’t changed much for me since T8, except now I don’t run into enemy zergs as often since they’re usually busy fighting our zergs.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
Let’s cover the basics so we don’t have to fight about it later: We outnumber you guys 1 billion to 1, WM are all bots, some mesmer hacked into something and took the entire map, Kaineng can’t coordinate their way out of a paper bag, Kaineng are like the champion boasters of everywhere, Magz and DB aren’t outnumbered they’re just not trying hard enough, Kaineng has ruined WvW with its transfers, Kaineng lost that fight because Magz/DB outnumbered us for like 30 seconds, something about that Bunzy person. Good?
So SHAKA, feel like picking some lotto numbers for me?
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
Population by a Looooooooooooong shot.
I mean on Friday I heard that during oceanic primetime that Kaineng had a quene on every map.
DB’s asian crew is good (relatively), but they never had THAT many people.
We only had a queue on the KNBL.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
While it looks like Kaineng will end up winning the matchup because our oceanic crew has the numbers advantage, I expect this week will see a TON of back and forth fighting during the day. Win or lose I hope everyone remembers to have some fun. I’ve even managed to get a few 1v1 fights and was proud of how well my little ranger did.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
At 6am PST Kaineng BL still had a queue. None of the other borderlands in our matchup had queues and there appears to be plenty of fighting in all maps. I’m not saying this is a bug or anything, just reporting some additional info. Kaineng has a good oceanic population so it’s not out of the question that we could have a queue at this time of day.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
What will be fun is the few weeks of wildly volatile ratings changes. Top tier teams will probably find themselves in lower tiers for a short while, simply because scores this coming week should expect to be closer in the top tiers than some of the middle tiers, who may have an epic blowout week and find themselves tier 1 for a week or two.
Imagine if this fight is so close that all 3 servers end up in T8 and stay there forever because we’re all so equally matched.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
I only spam AoE when I think there’s a thief nearby that I can’t see yet.

I know I saw a mumble server listed at http://www.kaineng.enjin.com/ but I don’t know how big it is or anything.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
Many people just run under a “if it’s red it’s dead” philosophy. If you’re on your way to a jump puzzle you may consider yourself an innocent bystander, but you’re still technically an enemy combatant.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
A video dedicated to everyone in this matchup. We made this while waiting at the EB spawn point, outmanned, for enough people to come in.
Awesome video! Despite the score this has been a fun week with a lot of good fights. I’ll miss CD and YB next week and I hope you guys get a closer match when SBI gets here!
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
3. There should be more tactical counters, available guerrilla tactics, that are effective against zerging.
I would love it if something along these lines could be worked out.
Imagine a big group running down a narrow valley when suddenly a small group jumps down from above and gains some sort of “element of surprise” buff.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
Grenade engineer is good for standing in the back and launching AoEs. If you’re traited for it you can get 1900 range on all grenades. Also each skill could throw 3 grenades, each one being it’s own AoE, so it’s almost like bending the 5-target AoE limit a little.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
I’m just going to put out some possible solutions.
I propose:
-Conditions now carry over into “downed state”.
-“Stomp” animation is accelerated by 33%, cutting it down to two seconds (down from 3)
-Multiple revivers stack multiplicatively rather than additively. So two healers revive at 150% speed, rather than 200% speed.
-Resurrecting is only possible while out of combat.
PS: Revive = healing downed state, resurrect = healing defeated state.
These all seem like good ideas, I would add that boons should carry over as well as conditions. I also like the idea someone else had of resurrect only working on people who died from damage, not people who died from being finished.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
OP, I think one of the problems is that you’re viewing a downed player as “defeated” and being upset that the defeat is being taken away from you if they get up. A player isn’t dead until they’re dead, if all you do is get them to downed then you haven’t won yet. That’s like taking a thief down to 50% HP and then getting upset that they were able to use their utilities to escape the fight. Downed is part of the game and you need to plan for it if you expect to win in a tough fight.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
To the sylvari thief who repeatedly attacked the SW supply camp on the Kaineng BL today: I was the asura ranger who killed you so many times. I feel bad because you were clearly the better player, I only prevailed because I had the camp NPCs backing me up, and occasionally a wandering player helped me out too. Even then there were many times where you almost had me, so my hat’s off to you for your skill and persistence!
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
It’s displaying the daileys based on your system time, but the server actually hands out credit for completing them. So you need to your system time to the correct time. (It’s probably set for the wrong date.)
So we can preview tomorrow’s dailies by changing our system time? O.O
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
The crafting one is a joke. Make 10 wood planks or copper ingots. Done.
The ressurection one? Joke. Find a heart quest that has downed NPCs as part of it and pick them up.
Underwater? Yeah, I hate it too…but only took me a couple moments to get those kills.
Dodger? I went to queensdale and aggroed a moa. When it did it’s little breath attack or whatever it was, I rolled backwards and forwards to get 4 dodges. Then I killed it and repeated on two more.
These are all /really/ easy.
I think the point isn’t that they’re hard, it’s that they force you to seek them out rather than getting them as you play normally. So if you don’t have a lot of time to play you’re forced to choose between completing the daily or just having fun where you’re at.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
Don’t forget they’re also changing the math for how ratings are calculated. So take Kaineng for example, a T8 server with a sudden influx of transfers dominated T8 for a few weeks before moving to T7, and then dominated each tier only moving up 1 per week.
The goal of the new math is to make a server like that move through the tiers much faster. I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hope that it works and things don’t take a whole month to stabilize.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
Imo if you seek an answer to that you do not belong in WvW and you are not entitled to ask for changes.I will say no more regarding the issue.
So in other words you don’t know.
If it has full immunity all it would do is basically put a 5 minute timer on the camp switching sides, this would in no way be game breaking. At most it would be annoying to the zerg that has to wait for the buff to go away before the karma train can resume.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
On more pro to condition damage is that it ignores armor, so it’s helpful for taking down builds that stack a lot of toughness. But just like the other replies said, burst usually beats condition.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
Also if the treb can hit stonemist then if you build a treb at stonemist you’ll be able to hit the tower.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
Yeah, I’ve seen this too. Some recipes have a level requirement you have to meet in order to learn it, otherwise it gives you an error message stating that you’ve already learned it even when you haven’t.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
I’m very optimistic that it will one day change for us. The spirit and resilience is there, but sadly our numbers are lacking.
Honestly I think you guys do have the numbers, they’re just not going into WvW now since our oceanic/asian crew took everything overnight.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
bring moar trebs please, 3 for 1 tower isnt enough
Are we working towards making a treb zerg now? Forget taking the tower, we’ll just level it right?
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
Anyone have a score update?
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
I’ve played with WM a lot over the past few weeks and I’ve never seen anything bot-like from any of them. The other day a WM commander was leading a PUG zerg around, we wiped a group at a camp and the commander lead us to the north camp saying in map chat “there’s a 53.24% chance they’ll attack the north camp next”, when someone asked how he figured that out he replied “I’m a bot, don’t you read the forums? lol” So clearly if they are bots then they’ve become self-aware and we should all be afraid.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
I saw “Transferredo” in the title and thought it was short for “Transfer Tornado” referring to all the transfers happening right now.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
I have never played against WM but I can tell you that I have been reporting A LOT of people lately for botting since there is no option to report players for hacking.
The max run speed in this game is capped at 33% out of combat which my elementalist is at all the time. If a player can noticeably out run me that player has to be hacking and I report everybody.
I think there’s several legitimate ways to exceed 33% runspeed, one of which is the superior rune of speed, the final bonus increases move speed by an extra 7% when using swiftness.
I don’t know why I bothered posting at all though, this thread will likely be closed or deleted.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
That being said, a question: if you transferred to a tier-15 server from a tier-4 server in hopes of building a WvW culture from the ground up? Why didn’t you, instead, transfer to a tier 1 or tier 2 server where such a culture already existed? What was the appeal of being a big fish in a small pond?
I think the main issue is that the T1 & T2 servers were already full (or mostly full) and that a large part of that population was PvE rather than WvW, so if you transfer to a small server it can be filled mostly with WvW players more easily. This is just a guess though, I’ve been on Kaineng since day 1 and my guild only has 2 people in it, so I could be completely wrong.
It guaranteed them a steady stream of opponents who could do nothing but feed them free XP and free loot bags, while costing those opponents more in armor repairs
The way our opponents talk Kaineng is handing out free XP and loot bags because apparently our PUGs are soap-eating morons that can barely dress themselves, so I don’t see why they’re complaining.

Well, in direct opposition to what i said a few minutes ago, here is the battle of cliffside round 4
DR pulled a fast one on the kain zerg, starting the breakout and capping the tower while the majority of the enemy were camping the west side of our spawn. We did our best to set up with only around 10 people inside, but were unable to prevent the construction of 3 catapults. The same wall as the last times was breached, but the meagre remnants of our earlier force were unable to hold back the full force of Kaineng.
DR are happy with capping a tower, but at this point its no longer an epic battle.
This will be the last time i post on us capping cliffside for today, as if we do we’ll likely just get rolled within 10 minutesGood luck out there everyone
It’s good to know at least some people are still finding fun in a match-up like this, it helps balance out all the unnecessary insults in this thread. I was lucky enough to have a good fight against a small DR zerg in the EB BL yesterday. Myself and about 10 other random people from kaineng were trying to take back sunnyhill. We went back and forth with direct assaults a few times before switching tactics to long range by setting up a treb in garrison. Unfortunately we only got the wall down to about 10% before a larger group with a commander showed up and steamrolled the tower, but it was fun while it lasted.
Everything is a Nemesis plot.
If you had actually watched the video you’d see that the player actually defeated 5 players. That’s right…dead. Not downed, dead.
But that doesn’t stop people from resurrecting.
Maybe he only survived because his opponents kept stopping to res.

As the wiki says, your armor stat (toughness + defense) will increase the aggro you get. Since Guardians/Warriors wear heavy armor they have an easier time getting aggro.
