Turret engi. I’ve noticed that when there’s an engi on the opposite side, my pug calls for focus fire on the engi. i say good, force them to play another class. Or let him rot on the home point while you 2 cap and 5v4 his buddies. either way makes the class useless.

i like the condi ranger now. I find the high toughest of characters tends to make power classes less effective, whereas my condis are doing full damage until cleared. but you can lure out some condi clear before reapplying the real condi damage.

I use a lot of aoe burn and protection and the thief usually disengages and i just leave the area. I use sb and axe/torch and i don’t really have a problem killing.

The class as it stands is more like a Demonologist, as it summons all these nether beings.

Spectral should be like Death Shroud and exclusive of Death Shroud; so one or the other. You would have the spectral skills move to the weapon side and make up new utilities that will treat dead bodies as a commodity.

Necros should be summoning the creatures of Orr or creating them out of the bodies on the field.

Have an abomination as your pet for a while, now that would be cool or an orrian wizard.

It’s called Potential Points per Tick. As soon as you capture something, you begin tallying points. By potential, it means if you hold all these points for 15 minutes you will have accumulated x points. Notice that the score is constantly going up, it doesn’t just lump on x at the 15 min mark. So RI will guarantee you 4/15 of the points of the captured area.

But really if you don’t like taking towers, i’m sure there’s plenty of fighting guilds around.

The mesmer is out of the meta because ppl have cookie cutter builds. you’ll be facing that annoying engi, 2 ele, 1 rogue and 1 guardian/warrior. At least this is all i’ve seen watching the esl weekly events. I watched a few and thought it was cool, but now it’s just boring. Mesmer can fit the meta but you’ll have to include it in a counter-party to this current cookie cutter party and plan carefully. Maybe 4 rogues and 1 mesmer; mobility and stealth for all. But i’m sure there’s hundreds if ppl put their minds to it.

Original thought is dead. People look up their builds on youtube and then copy/paste and viola. PvP was fun until i learned all their builds and see the same garbage game after game. People always laugh at my gs/rifle build until I smash someone for 14k.

Engi day might as well be called pve day. There’s 3 on every team. Most boring, yet most popular meta i’ve seen in the game. oh and the d/d ele is super boring but easy to defeat. When people find one meta and continually play it, you know there’s something wrong with the game.

Wvw and pvp don’t compare. WvW has the biggest disparity of good players to bad players. PvP creates everyone equal and how well you play is a factor. WvW is the apex where all the big boys play, so to take food away makes no sense, especially since it’s available to everyone. With all the condi clear out there, does duration really matter?

Stability is having a boat in the sea of cc. Now your boat has patched-up holes and it’s sinking fast.

victory goes to the side with the bigger numbers. This is my experience with wvw this week. Blob up, Yarr!

No longer can the smaller team use stab with impunity, now groups use cc with impunity.

Now that people know they can strip stability with a cc, we’re seeing 10x more ccs out there. Why not make regen strip poison, or stacks of bleeding? Why not let us see invisible people? why not make swiftness strip immobilize or cripple? Why not make teleport so you can’t actually teleport?

Anet is going down the wrong path and killing fun gameplay. I was just watching Red Guard and the days of those epic battles are over. Yarr!!

If guard is getting Longbow, i wonder what is the justification? How is using a Longbow guarding someone? But they think hammer is a ranged weapon, so i’m not holding my breath for some reasonable justification. What happened at anet? did they get some new people or something, because they are really screwing this game up.

Instead of making hammer ranged, they should’ve done something cool, like make staff melee.

With amount of cc available to us, good night guardians and warriors. RIP. With 2 engis, we just killed loads of stability classes that would have been quite difficult before. Thank you anet for finally killing these 2 annoying classes.

People are acting like cc is the only thing happening here. I’m not only getting cc’d, there’s also a ton of damage coming down on us in melee. Now it’s a ton of damage while i’m knocked to the ground. Stability made melee possible, now it’s a joke.

People will adapt to this meta, unfortunately it will make for boring gameplay. to take away the one thing that made melee possible is to downgrade your gameplay. L2P ya, L2P boring meta. getting knocked to the ground every time you stand is awesome gameplay. its not like the cd isn’t 5x as long as the actual stability you get, and it’s not like you’re actually going to have stab for the 5 seconds advertised. Gotta love unstable stability. change the name if its not stable.

Stability let you actually melee and have fun. So i’m burning a 24 second cd for 5 seconds of stability that won’t even last 5 seconds. They say its overpowered because it stops 30 ccs from happening, but now those 30 ccs work plus you’re taking loads of damage, all while being knocked on your butt. And now that those 30 cc actually work, we’re seeing them cast all the time.

No one can do anything while knocked on the ground, so saying stability is op is bs. Being knocked to the ground is op as i can’t use anything while i’m there and it’s now super simple to do. gg anet.

One point Phantom makes, which i think is ignored, is that he is fighting against the roamers of the other worlds. Now if he broke off his fights to help the besieged, then it would leave those opposite roamers free to do what they want. By keeping them occupied, i believe he was fulfilling a role in the wvw map.

When i play wvw now, i notice there are way more walls and wards. It really is a bounce fest and you fall down way more. If they wanted to make melee less feasible, then they succeeded. I was just watch Red Guard videos and thinking those epic battles will never happen again. RIP melee train.

Why make stability weaker? It was the one thing that actually allowed zergs to fight in wvw. Now it’s just a bounce fest as everyone is throwing down 10x more walls and wards.

I love running my power necro. As for thieves, first your weapon needs fire sigil on it. Cast locust swarm from your warhorn and make sure you have banshee’s wail, to keep constant swiftness and cripple. When the thief is invisible and comes within range of your locust swarm he gets crit and the fire sigil procs, igniting him and giving his location. keep your dagger swinging the whole time. Use you aoe (wells, marks) to establish an area of control. The cripple from your swarm will make it easy to find him.

As for mobility, you can use dark shroud number 2, worm, or spectral walk to teleport around the map.

Necros are meant for group fights, due to the amount of aoe they have. The more enemies the merrier when you’re a necro.

wvw is pretty fast paced. Have fun trying to run around walls that are placed right in front of you. Wait 5 seconds in a wvw battle? i have to wonder how many you’ve been in.

So I was just zerging in wvw and i noticed that players are dropping 10x more walls and wards everywhere. This is to break stability. So my stability lasts for 5 walls or 5 seconds. Stability used to have certainty to it, hence the name, Stability. Now, you have no clue except you know it won’t last the 5 seconds. No stability, no fighting, just a lot of bouncing off walls and wards.

The problem with engi in this pvp format is their area of control. They can hold a point with turrets and not even be there. Since the skill cap is so low on this build, it makes it popular and easy. Engi day is pve day, since you’ll be fighting so many turrets. I don’t even play pvp on engi day.

i just run the staff/hammer zerg build i use in wvw. Lots of shouts, condi clear, stability, healing and most importantly, you can kick people off the point easy. i find no one uses stability in pvp and are just bouncing off wards half the time.

The only way i can think of them being able to add new maps is a map rotation. Wherein the borderlands maps would still be the same 3 maps for balance reasons, but the style of these 3 maps would be different. So one week the bl maps are in the jungle, and the next week they’re in the Shiverpeaks. That would add variety and mystery as you may not know which borderlands maps your game will be on this week.

If they don’t want to give the Rifle range, then they should change the name. The whole point of a Rifle is that it outranges and out-damages other weapon types. It’s not like it would be the new meta if they gave it range. i just find it lackluster as a warrior weapon and if they’re not going to do it right, then don’t bother.

only 1 person got the point. So an Engi can throw a grenade further than a rifle can fire? A bow can fire further than a rifle can fire? Like Greyrebel said, it should be called shotgun if they don’t want it to fire far. It’s not really a rifle if it can’t outrange a throw or a bow, is it?

Rifle warrior needs more range. Rifle warrior is too easily outranged. An engi and throw a grenade further than a warrior can fire her rifle. Rangers can fire bows further than a warrior can fire a rifle. Rifle should be 1500 minimum, its a rifle for god’s sake, its meant to outrange a throw or a bow. it has a melee cc, but seriously, if someone is in melee the warrior will swap weapons.
