Proof that anet prefers condi over healing is the fact that they kept rabid amulet in the game. this amulet also provides toughness with condi damage. another proof that they don’t even know what balance is. If you take out one amulet, at least take out the counter amulet.
I guess anet was thinking “since none of you can kill eles, we’ll do it for you”.
this is my description of the next pvp season. With no healers available; battles will be quick and decisive.
first to burst wins!
screw tanks and healers, they’re dumb anyway. condis will definitely be ruling the day int he next season. I know i’m not playing my altruistic support build, which was a condi killer. now its dust, and by the sounds of it, the ele healer got screwed.
I play staff/hammer guard with cleric’s (well not anymore). Was it really that powerful? running around with my 13k hps, just waiting to be ganked. So if power, toughness, and healing power are game breaking, what’s next? Rabid? Berserker? knights? first they took soldiers, now cleric’s, i’m afraid to learn another amulet, lest they take that as well.
Now my guard is glass. I’m assuming that Paladin is supposed to take the place of soldier’s. So i lose thousands of hps and hundreds of toughness. Couldn’t just leave it alone, could you anet? Keep on trying to balance and you’re just making a mess. No one even knows what this game is about anymore, because it’s definitely not about guilds going to war.
Names mean nothing to the devs. if it did, they would have built a game around a GvG mechanic since its the name of the game. Dragonhunter is terrible, since when does guarding something mean going out and hunting instead. keep waffling on anet.
Worried about the future of WvW? worry about the future of the game. People aren’t playing wvw because anet destroyed it. Server transfers, lag, utility skill changes, there is no future here.
Long bow for a Guardian. This proves the lack of direction and focus of the anet devs. I have never seen a game go so sour so quickly. hot is the death knell of gw2. if you want backline support then give it to a backline character. why confuse the guardian? am i frontline or backline? So now you’ll have 10 frontline guards and 10 backline guards, why don’t we all just play guards? keep waffling on anet.
ele is going to be off the hinges. 00666. anyone who plays ele will be very happy with hot.
The only builds that will benefit from this is builds that already max out 2 trait lines. Any personal builds you’ve created will be pigeon holed into this new style of builds.
Enjoy cookie cutter, dumb down gw2. We saw the same thing happen in Cataclysm for wow. The game was too dumb down at that point and they rang their own death knell.
bye bye gw2, it was good while it lasted.
Don’t even worry about the colours. If there’s a commander around, just head over and tag along. If it’s a closed raid, who cares? just play with them and have fun. I’ve never gotten any flak from any commander for hanging out with their closed raid, even as an uplevel. If a commander if running a closed raid and doesn’t want you around, don’t worry there’s plenty of other commanders roaming around wvw.
Go watch some Red Guard from days long past and see how glorious wvw used to be. Good to see you’re enjoying it, but its a shadow of its former glory.
The meta currently destroys the build diversity as ppl flock to builds that complete a certain task. Meta will also destroy any build diversity of the new system for exactly the same reason. Everyone in pve will still run their zerker build.
When a dev changes their game this drastically, you have to wonder if they even know what direction they want to go. HoT shows lack of direction and focus by Anet.
Enjoy your dumb down version of gw2. I won’t be buying this xpac.
Sounds like inter-guild politics got the better of db. It’s going to be a while before db gets put in its proper tier, happy hunting.
Courtyard is the only true PvP map in the game. To win a pvp game by killing the lord, is that really pvp? Conquest is PvP lite and since this is a game of lightweights, its super popular. instead of whining about it because your zerker glass cannon is getting owned, grab a real build. Use a wvw build; i use the Red Guard frontline Guardian build and it does just fine in Courtyard, the only yard.
Make transfers to lower pop servers free and allow only 1 free transfer per time period ie, 6 months. Any other transfer is a paid transfer.
Looking at the bonuses given by the celestial amulet it’s easy to see that it gives a much larger overall bonus. For a game that claims balance, this is quite an unbalanced amulet. I can see why it’s so ingrained in the meta. Please balance this amulet so it gives a comparable bonus to the other amulets.
Yes, i agree with the separate queue and the boatload of new pvpers, as they will be pve players sick of open world and not true pvp players. stronghold is a pve map, dont fool yourself.
i didn’t move anywhere on my guard; just sat at the supply and fought players for the whole game. We won easily as their supply was limited.
I didn’t even play the map mechanics. I was on my guard and the only thing i did was hang out at the supply and fight anyone who came near it. We destroyed them as they couldn’t get enough supply. I really liked the courtyard feel. PvE needs to get out of pvp. Courtyard is the best map in pvp, as it is the only true pvp in the game.
Just grab the Red Guard frontline build and you’ll be fine. roll around 3300 armour, loads of hps and condi cleanse. Although frontlines are a thing of the past, it’s a build where dying doesn’t happen often.
Just grab your pve build, you’ll be fine.
Once again PvE has made its way into PvP. Courtyard is the only true PvP map in the game. So yes, an escort mission was all they could come up with for new content. How about 1v1 and 2v2 arenas? how about an actual gvg mechanic? since it is the name of the game. but since they couldn’t even get that right, i wouldn’t put any stock in them actually coming up with true pvp content.
The lifespan of turrets needs to be shortened. Turrets are a terrible idea and it’s sad that’s all they could come up with for this clkitten
up on stability, and aoe power attacks to take the point from these guys.
Too much pve on a pvp map. Guess i’ll be skipping this day, don’t want to offend anyone as i down vote this ridiculous map.
Engi doesn’t fit the wvw meta because she can only control a small area and since wvw is an open map, the area of control afforded by the engi is easily dismissed. Whereas pvp is about controlling small areas, so engi thrives in this arena.
Fighting bots is for furballs.
There’s a quartermaster, 2 workers, and a couple merchants that are all on break at the Supply Depot. I was wondering if we can have them moved slightly further away. So I’m repairing a wall and every time I run over and grab supply, they’re all saying “Greetings” and “What can I do for you” until I hit the right spot when it says Interact. The only thing I’m thinking is “help or get out of the way”. Since they can’t help, I’m asking that they be moved to another area.
i throw these things out, useless.
I do believe the Stronghold Gametype is being touted as an answer to GvG because there will be Guild Leaderboards and ability to have Guild Teams in it. They mentioned this off-handedly a few times.
There will NEVER be open world PvP, ANet has separated PvP and PvE all together and they will never mingle the two outside of WvW which is a different beast on its own.
I was looking at the Stronghold mechanics and i looks like they’re adding pve to pvp. We don’t need pve in pvp but the other way around. it would make the game hardcore. But it looks like they’ll just stick to soft ball.
that’s what i was thinking too. But it would be cool to see a red player in your area.
I noticed that the only Guild War mechanic is if player set up a GvG. there is no in-game mechanic to actually declare war on another guild.
I was thinking something like eve, when corps war dec each other, it is possible to fight each other even in safe zones.
think if you’re playing in Orr and meet a player in an enemy guild and you’ll be able to fight each other. Guilds might actually stick together and have battles in the open world. The war declaration mechanic and rewards would have to be worked on but i think they could do it.
As it stands, this game has nothing to do with guilds fighting each other unless we set it up ourselves.
If they are already working on it, i’m sure it will just be a soft ball version.
Meta means outside or beyond. So a meta build is outside or beyond the game. Meta builds just look at the rules of the game and try to exploit them. There is no care for role playing or character story.
So Asura would be considered a meta-gamer’s race. It exploits the balance of the game. Since everyone can jump the same and everyone swings their weapons the same distance it doesn’t make sense that an Asura could swing as far as a Norn, or jump as far, or run as fast. But an Asura can jump 3 times his height, and a Norn can barely make it off the ground.
Same thing for meta builds. Turret engi is popular right now in PvP. So people exploit the turret rules to win PvP and with little skill. Meta builds are usually a max/min proposition.
I say look some up and try them. But mostly just make a build that suits your playstyle.
While I don’t disagree with your definition, be careful with the use of the term exploit. When discussing video games it typically is used with a connotation of cheating, not simply utilizing everything you can to your advantage. Meta typically avoids “exploits” in the video game sense, while trying to maximize effectiveness with anything that is considered acceptable. Again, you’re not wrong, just video game connotation of exploit is bad.
IE meta builds for Lupi typically assume you’re going to actually fight lupi, not use the wallsploit. And there is no “meta map escaping” build.
of course exploits are subjective, some people view using line of sight to be cheating and an exploit in the video game sense so /shrug.
As we know the rules aren’t perfect so ppl find little nuances and exploit them until something is done to the contrary. I’m saying turrets sit around too long and ppl exploit this ability to easily win PvP with little skill. Are they breaking the rules? no. Are they exploiting a poorly thought-out rule? yes.
Exploit — to make full use or derive benefit.
I think you’re talking about breaking rules, for which has the misnomer ‘exploit’.
I agree with the post under the OP as the best answer to this question though.

Just crafted an entire set of Exotic Condition Gear including Armor Weapons and the Runes. I also spent all of my laurels on ascended rings and amulet. Not even 1 hour with all my gear set up and the patch hits and the runes and traps are bugged/nerfed? You’ve gotta be kidding me. Maybe if more time was spent on bug testing/fixing and less time on April Fools Pranks i would be less upset…
i just did the same thing but i didn’t know any better until now.

It’s only 1 day that you don’t control your character. I wonder how many more days i won’t be controlling my character? This is a joke on the customers. I hope Anet is as understanding when we play a joke on them.
Fighting bots is for furballs.
Time to load up the Typhoon fleet issue and play a real game.
take a break from the forums for a day.
shouldn’t you be playing the game if you think it’s so good.
To take my control of my character away is a poor decision. We should be playing jokes on each other, in game. But this is Anet playing a joke on the customers. My characters don’t swing their weapons properly and it looks super buggy. I don’t see the value added to the game with this event.
There’s an airplane bug. It seems my character doesn’t act normally. How can i get my arms down so i can see my weapon animations properly? 1k blades just has a sword on the end of my ‘wing’ and really doesn’t swing. it looks super buggy. none of my weapon animations work, how is this good for the game?
The simple thing to do, is add a toggle switch to the event. That way everyone is satisfied. A game event should have characters playing jokes on characters. But this is Anet playing a joke on us. I don’t pay them to play jokes on me. Poor taste and poor choices. this is Anet saying we control your characters and there’s nothing you can do about it. gg
This is their way of killing lag in WvW. Just make the game look as dumb as possible so less ppl want to play. Less ppl, no lag. problem solved for a day. who cares? it’s only your customers. Not buying the xpac and not buying any gems. gg anet.
We’re on the verge of WWIII and they put this WWII airplane garbage out. C’mon, I’m sure there’s a million different jokes they could’ve thought of. If this is the quality of content we can expect from Anet, then i don’t have high hopes for the expansion.
this is all they could come up with for April’s Fools. How sad, there’s a million things they could’ve done. Anyways, it’s sad and I logged out.
So it’s a WWII plane motif. I don’t find it funny considering WWIII in on the verge of happening. Not funny Anet, maybe you’re not up to date on the news but some of us are up to date. cancel this nonsense and think of something truly funny.
