More Armors

Anyone agree we need a lot more armors? For some reason I only like maybe two out of every armor set. Sometimes depending on the race/class, one. It’s weird because you can definitely see a lot of work went into them but I think we need some more variety.

I wouldn’t mind having to GRIND (I know everyone loves that) for them. Just like I don’t mind the Legendary grind (that’s right whiners).

I just want something to pick from.

It works that way so as far as I’m concerned it’s not an exploit your not gaining anything from it its just rare armor. Frankly it shouldn’t be character bound in the first place, it should be account bound.

Extremely disappointed at not receiving the karka event chest… My main toon got pulled into an overflow server and I took part as long as it was possible but the lag that caused everything to freeze for minutes in a row was too much. I ended up doing some fractals after spending loads of time trying to do the event

That Anet don’t bother about us who tried to take part but basically got kicked in the head by a badly planned event execution feels really bad. We also deserves the loot.

Hey man it lagged for everyone else, and everyone else stayed. STAYING and trying being the key. The chest is only for those who tried, and got disconnected at the end. Not an hour before hand not two hours before hand,. ect,. not people who gave up and went somewhere else.

This is for people who put in the full effort.

The Lost Shores event shoulders, just search for skins in the TP.

Like you can preview skins in the TP.
So what are they called?

You dont need to preview them you just saw them from above. They all look the same, and there only one item that has the word skin next to it that looks like a lobster tail. There’s not like a hundred different types…

Locking down after 6-8 attempts is hardly anywhere close to being a lack of security.

You clearly didn’t read, it didn’t lock down.

Your phrasing was misleading.

There’s hardly any chance of your account being hacked if you use your email address for the game only and nowhere else. If you use your email address on other sites then “hackers” will have access to it.

I’m not sure how accurate that is, if it was so easy as that. Why don’t more companies use this email verification.

I know you can spoof an email address and I know you can spoof an IP address.

So how secure is that really?

I saw that other thread and that guys plight, but has anyone noticed that GW2 does not lock down your account after an attempt on it? It doesn’t lock it down like every other MMO out there. If someone continues to put in wrong passwords GW2 just doesn’t care.

I notice this one day after changing my password, I think it took me about 6 or 8 tries. Normally an MMO locks down after three. I’m not sure GW2 every locks down.

Does anyone else find this odd? How hard would it be to get a cracker and run email addresses one after the other while running passwords.

Ain’t that a bit scary?

I wish they would make guild similar to how they work in most other games, that you have to join with each of your characters.
If someone wanted to make a guildless character, they couldn’t. Characters are tracked by guild even if you aren’t representing. Once you have a friend or guild, you cannot have “anonymity” in game anymore. even the invisible option doesn’t really work. Login in from the launcher show that you’re online ingame, then when you enter the game it tells your friends that you’ve come online, and if you go invisible it still track your location in friend and guild list.

Each case should be a seperate incident that should be checked. If they haven’t got staff, then representatives from each of the server’s communites should be hired to help in the removal of spammer’s, seller’s and botter’s, keeping ontop of these situation’s.

It’s probably an automated system, that doesn’t even alert anyone until it hits a certain threshold. If they checked everyone for every report they could be looking at millions of people. Which would require millions of hours. One million hours for someone who makes even just $12 an hour is $12,000,000. Even if it took you a few minutes to decide your still talking some good dough. You really think there gonna pump out that kind of cash, no. No one in the gaming industry does.

Well maybe WoW, because it’s subscription based they can afford to hire a team that does nothing but that.

No there has to be an automated process which eventually works it’s way into a human person hand if that. It could just auto ban at a certain threshold. Who knows how much they put into it since this is not subscription based.

No unfortunately Anet is 100% lying so far, they have no anti-hack, no anti-bot, and they only catch exploits sometimes months after the fact.

To me that’s one of the issues with non-sub games.

My least favorite zone(s) in 15+ years of MMO gaming, by a long shot.

I have to agree with this, if it’s one think GW2 had going for it, it’s the amazing art team. The concept art to level design, character design, all that is top notch, AAA stuff. It’s everything else I have issue with.

That’s GW2’s redeeming factor and it’s one hope to keep customers in my opinion.

Volomon.9147

Right clicking on any player, you can submit a simple report, for spamming, inappropriate language, gold selling and botting. It’s a wonderfully easy system for players.

Sadly however, three days after reporting two botter’s, they are still in the same area, running the same route and haven’t even been investigated. Surely, I am not the only person to have reported these and other’s like them.

What exactly’s going on ArenaNet? Do you actually have people responding to these reports or do you just ignore them, hoping we’ve moved on from the area and don’t actually notice? This sort of contempt is unbecoming of such a great company.

We’ve done our part by reporting them, taking an intrest in our communities…. I hope you will start doing your part!

There has to be a significant amount of reports, imagine if someone in your party didn’t like and reported you. It’s probably in the neighborhood of 10 maybe? So low pop servers are just out of luck.

LOL I don’t, I run normal dungeons till I hit Token DR, then that’s it for the day. The amount of drop from loot from farming and gathering blows. It’s not even worth my time and I’m not even sure why people go through all that effort for it. I’ve come to the realization that I will never have a legendary.

I think based on good estimates that earning gold at a rate that is normal at the moment. It would take 9.5 years to accumulate enough gold for one.

So instead I’m working on Mystic Items like Volcanus.

Thought process behind stealth fixes?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Volomon.9147

Volomon.9147

So I’ve been wondering,

What is the thought process behind not listing full patch notes?
They must be intentional fixes, but were they not fully tested but patched in regardless hoping for a good outcome?
I think its annoying that we have to find out what may or may not have actually made the list because the full notes were not added.

One quick example would be the bug fix to rangers opening strikes on this Dec. 3 patch. It will now fully proc on any distance where-as before it was very limited and pets also had a hard time triggering it.

So is it intentional that they are left off due to lack of testing?
Did they not actually mean to fix it, just a lucky outcome?
Just lazy?

I’ve never understood the point behind them when they game-play affecting changes to be left off the list and are not just fun easter-egg type scenerios.

It’s due to the fact that there are so many exploits, hacks, and bots in the game. The idea is not to let the user know.

1. Some users will go looking for those exploits, hacks, and bots.
2. People will want to know why people abusing these exploits, hacks, and bots have not been banned. It’s because they can’t catch them.
3. Some people who were using the exploit get upset that it’s no longer available and amazingly have the nerve to come on to this board to complain about it.

Also they could have just left it out by accident, the list was pretty huge.

NCsoft Seattle undergoing “realignment”

Ncsoft does not equal Arenanet…
Arenanet is a studio owned by Ncsoft.

Ncsoft closed/stopped directly supporting two of its western MMO’s fairly recently… Aion and City of Heroes.

“Game Production Studio (Seattle, Washington) – The NCsoft Game Production Studio brings products from the NCsoft development teams in Seoul to the West, including Lineage, Lineage II, and Aion.”

NCsoft’s publishing studio might not equal Anet, but it reflects the plight Anet is in. GW2 is not making the money they were banking on and GW2’s failure has lead to people getting fired. It is only a matter of time that Anet is also effected. Not to mention this news comes from a leak, so in no way shape or form does this rule out Anet not being affected. We just don’t know yet how much trouble Anet is in.

In fact I think with the bugs rolling into Anets latest patch maybe a lot of people got fired while working on that patch and that’s why it’s in total disarray.

Wow…the fear mongering and doom and gloom is thick in this thread.

I refer you to this article…
http://www.vg247.com/2012/11/07/guild-wars-2-blade-soul-drive-ncsoft-back-into-profit/

Another breakdown, this time by title, showed Guild Wars 2 overtaking Lineage 1, NCSoft’s traditional big earner. Over the last two quarters the MMORPG represented in 38-45% of the company’s sales, but that dropped to 23% in Q3, with Guild Wars 2 snaffling 27% and Blade & Soul managing 20%. Aion also noted a decrease, something of a trend over the last year.

Considering that GW2 is one of NCSoft’s top three earners (actually, the top earner last quarter), I personally doubt the realignment at NCSoft corporate has anything to do with GW2.

NCSOFT Stock
2012.09.07 286,500 ?? 6,500 313,138

2012.12.04 158,500 ??3,000 235,414

Bit of a drop there, it also appears to continue to drop.

The box sales was indeed good, not good enough in my opinion there is not going to be another rush of box sales, that was it they need sustainability now. However the current status right now is horrid. Look at that stock drop. Clearly the forecast for the next quarter is dismal.

Stocks are in WON by the way KRW.

NCsoft Seattle undergoing “realignment”

Volomon.9147

No, I mean . . . if NCsoft decided to shut down ArenaNet, do you think GuildWars 2 would actually continue? Talk about “pay2win” and other things, but . . .

This idea doesn’t help any of us GuildWars 2 players fans or not.

No. Because GW2 is owned by NCSoft. But if NCSoft sells GW2 to other publishers, then it will continue.

“©2010–2012 ArenaNet, Inc. and NC Interactive, Inc. All rights reserved. Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2, ArenaNet, NCSOFT, the Interlocking NC Logo, and all associated logos and designs are trademarks or registered trademarks of NCSOFT Corporation. All other trademarks are the property of their respective owners.”

Public companies are owned by there share holders, the people working there are elected by a board of trustees. Anyone with a majority share has the most votes, in a company. Effectively if someone can garner enough votes they can do literally anything. Your votes are per stock. As nexxon holds the majority share they have the most weight is where there talking about. Often those with the largest shares hold a seat. That means if Nexxon and a few other major share holders wanted to put a guy that works for Nexxon in NCsofts mists they could.

This is what they mean by Nexxon “owns” NCsoft, technically they don’t they just can push some weight around. It’s exaggerated for sure but you know what they mean. You know they can kind of yank the chain.

Now this is scare mongering and complete out and out conjecture.

Rather than worry about what you’re going to do should this game suddenly become a horrible p2w parody of itself, start focusing on how you’re going to react to it should it come, because leaving doesn’t affect them as much as a subscription based game.

Hows it conjecture, the investor conference was a couple of months ago. It’s available for the public. Just search NCsoft investor. Leaving definitely affects them. When an investor asks NCsoft the current population concurrent users that is. They don’t want to hear oh their on vacation. When other F2P MMOs are turning a profit. Profits can not be made if people leave. It’s far more devastating for a F2P game than you think, because first off they have to make back 5 years of development funds, do you think they hit that yet? How about marketing funds, probably no where near that.

From what I understand from the investors meeting GW2 did 68% less than the projected profit. In other words GW2 is running in the red. Everything Anet does for the game is for investors. Not for players, they have to make the game profitable or there is no game.

There no fear mongering in that it’s just fact. Like for instance THQ has to run in a positive 5 million on hand cash or Well Fargo comes and closes them down to liquidate. If GW2 doesn’t stay in the black, then NCsoft comes over to them and says well you’ve had X months to bring us a profit. We’re going to close you down and give the game to a much cheaper company that will maintain it for pure profit.

You folks need to read. They clearly state it is to help thier game developer, which Anet is. This although unfortunate for NCsoft employees does not affect Anet’s employees since they are a subsidiary not NCsoft

subsidiary wholly owned by NCSoft.

And?

They are a game developer.

if you’re wholly owned by NCSoft, NCSoft can shut you down at will.

This benefits us . . . how, exactly?

I mean, there’s nothing here that really is of any positive potential outcome if NCSoft decides to shut down ArenaNet.

They would save a lot of money if they turned over production and maintaining the IP by a Korean company. Millions probably. Then they can turn to focusing on Blade & Soul there next project.

I’ve gotten tier 3 human weapon skins— the staff and sword, respectively— from story rewards.

None of the weapons are unique on any of the tiers. Not sure why there are even vendors for these weapons. Especially the tier three weapons it’s an utter waste of karma. More rip offs. You can buy all the tier three weapons from the TP for a few silver.

3. Play the game normally, and collect what’s needed over a long period of time.

Play the game normally, what does this even mean?

I am confused about what this, how does it work? How do you play the game “normally”?

If you do 100% map completion you won’t get all the 250 stacks of t6 mats you need. Not even close. What other “normal” stuff is there to do? Wander around in Orr? Kill Jormag 1,000,000x? Stand around bored in LA?

Hey good luck with making your OWN mmorpg I would definitely play that one, infinite content. Every day new dungeon, every day new map and story

Nice. I am really looking forward

It looks to me that you never played any mmorpg before. MMORPGs always involve farming, repeating content. ALWAYS. And many people enjoy it, like myself.

Arenanet never said there is no grind involved in Guild Wars 2. They said you dont have to grind/farm to be on pair with everyone else (stat wise) but if you want the best, the most unique and the most rare weapon (Legendary) you have to WORK HARD for it.

So please try to understand this.

I’ve played a lot of MMOs numbering into the 50+, and these kind of comments come from the stinking bodies of dying MMOs. It’s that desperate hope and longing for something to live. That denial of the facts, that tell you when a MMO is really under siege. I’ve seen these kinds of posts before, and I see them popping up all over this board. Those posts of denial, all the way up until they pull the plug.

I’ve played plenty of games and MMOs and I’ve seen these kind of posts springing up on very lively and currently still alive MMOs. It’s kind of like “the end of the world is coming” people in reality. All decide to yell “the sky is falling”, when it isn’t. Having in mind that Guild Wars 2 is now considered the most popular MMO after WoW, I would say that even if we lost a lot of our player base it could still live on. It would have less servers, yes, but that’s about the impact that it would have.

I haven’t, in 20 years. Often your right there is always doomsayers, but usually the entire forum isn’t dedicated to that, unless it really is doomed. I’ve seen very cheery (see: delusional) boards go down. CoH comes to mind, though I suppose that MMO was successful it just got old. Warhammer comes to mind as well, I suppose that exactly wasn’t doomed, it however is not it’s former self. The devs of Warhammer never did address any of the players concerns either…sort of like GW2. So maybe GW2 will live on only because of it’s powerful backer NCsoft.

Posted by: Volomon.9147

According to the post by Anet, looks more like the latter

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Server-Populations/first

I’d say that post hit it right on the money.
Unless the staffmember lied (Or terribly misphrased what he was trying to say), it’s the latter.

It just seems odd to me that every day a bunch of people transfer off of the servers on off hours, then suddenly transfer back on when prime time hits

People are probably transferring off the server possibly moving to better WvW servers. Then other people are transferring onto that server. Anet could be culling the server every so often of inactive accounts as well. Maybe only accounts that are 90 days inactive? Or who know the amount of days.

Ya post some pictures because I’ve done the story quest twice and don’t have any cultural armor. There is a suit of armor you eventually work up, I can’t even visualize what it looks like right now. That suit is definitely not cultural armor.

Looks like they deleted it as well, gave an industrial look inside what Anet was doing wrong, and how much money they were losing as well.

"We don't want you to grind" Oh realy?

Anyone notice a decrease in population?

LA is always in overflow because it is the meeting area for fractals. Other areas are a lot quieter because of lower rewards for killing stuff so it’s not worth the time.

A lot of servers don’t even have Lion’s Arch overflow even with the fractals thing. Any player on one of these servers assumes it’s an issue with every server. I know I did. I almost 100% quit because of it. I assumed the entire game was like this on every server. Till I transferred and found out it wasn’t.
