Well I’d start with a necro for sure, unfortunately due to how long they last though I’m not sure how long that army would last. A runes will get you one extra pet (multiple types of runes). Raicial, there’s the Charr back up, Humans get Hounds.
I think max you could get 5 or so mobs. Not sure if there is a sigil that grants a pet. I think there might be where you have to get 25 stacks or something.
I don’t see how Nexon has such an influence in NCsoft though last I looked freaking NCsoft was like 167,000 won. Nexon bought a 14.7 percent share that doesn’t give them majority hold. It’s kind of weird because NCsoft is like worth $100+ a share. Where as Nexon is like 11 bucks a share. Shouldn’t NCsoft be buying Nexon?
Mostly it’s NCsoft, due to their stock dropping like crazy. Foreign investors are pulling out. Nexon just took a bite because their stock is dropping. Now investors want a return.
Personally I’d buy Nexon stock over NCsoft. Just buy low with Nexon and wait for Nexon to buy at least 50% of NCsoft, and you’ll be rich.
I’m going to be on that phone next conference, and ask for some heads.
LOL, figures. Never even noticed.
The fact is, all of the speculation on why there are so-called ‘empty zones’ is rather silly. The reason is simple. The game has been out for over 2 months. In the beginning, zones were packed, because everyone was the same level, leveling together, making all the various types of characters to find their perfect fits, and so on. Now the player base is spread out. You have the different levels spreading all over the map, not concentrated in specific zone levels. You have diffusion. You want busier zones, go to the lower level zones. The higher level ones, especially Orr, are much emptier. Those that are the level for that zone are spread amongst them all, or are running dungeons (not just Fractals).
Simple answer? Find a playing partner, toss in Map Chat that you want to explore, do XX event, or whatever, and ASK for grouping. You may just be surprised.
That’s so true, doesn’t that make you wonder why they have these huge events and chains to open dungeons? Group events left and right. The way they designed the game tell me they didn’t expect so many empty zones if any.
Because there is nothing else to do? I mean what can you do, dungeon hit DR after two its done. Farm for low drop loot? How many hair pulling hours of that would you do?
There’s only one choice make a new character. Most of what Anet did after 80 is pretty poorly done almost amateur hourish. Which honestly have they really ever tackled something like this, no.
Anet’s redeeming quality is the craft they put into the world and stories. Though ya they all end individually at 30. It’s still fun. I’m only working on my third right now though.
Sir you insult me, its not very difficult to understand.
Data is a numerical value. You would need something you can quantify. The bots are not doing anything that a human would not do, hence it would be hard to identify.
Is there a way, yes, can Anet do it. I doubt it they can’t fix their own bugs.
Perhaps you can detect number of clicks per second rather than keyboard presses, but no ones that dumb to make a bot like that.
Anet has no datamining, Anet has no antibot software even.
Watch their latest GDC lecture. Search for programming secrets, it´s somewhere on here.
I’m sure they datamine statistical information, but they do not statistically mine for botting information. How could they how do you define a bot or a hacker using the game? How would you define a real player to a false player? If it was so easy they would be instant banned immediately, but there not. You can’t datamine for something that has no stats or figures.
Hey, lets add some Math to the whine.
This game has 25 Maps and 52 servers, not counting overflow.Basically every map is its own server, this means there are actually 25×52=1300 servers which ANet has to police constantly for bots.
For some reason they are unwilling to hire live GMs who immediately respond to every whine, that would come from the players populating these servers pretty much 24/7.
This obviously means they have to automate the process by creating data-mining scripts analyzing the data that clients constantly communicate back to the servers.Oddly this also takes time.
Even more oddly the Chinese botraiders seem to be cunning enough to adapt their own bots to counter ANet´s datamining. Probably because they are making a killing because you people are willing to pay “real money” for their virtual gold to buy stuff that´s virtual (calling our fiat currencies real money is actually the real joke here).
Why am I posting this?
Tryin´to keep it real. :p
Anet has no datamining, Anet has no antibot software even. What they do is ban everyone with excessive amounts of reports. Which is not much of a system, and they ban innocent people. So much so that people complain (even botters) and get their accounts back. Most likely they unbanned a number (who knows how many).
Not just that though the “Chinese” (I got infracted for this on these message boards for using the word Chinese or something) often hack accounts and use those. There not losing any money or bots to bans. People who got hacked are losing their accounts.

The elder dragons are not evil either. Think about it for a while.
Are humans evil to ants? Or is it just a natural order.
Do humans send in saboteurs and assassins? Attempt to corrupt city governments? No we just step on them without thinking. These dragons are plotting and thinking about the destruction they wreck.
That’s what makes them evil.
Can you give an example. Because if its one area anet focuses on its pvp mostly for survival purposes they think more people will play if it becomes an esport. There wrong of course, but that notion keeps the m balancing the game more than fixing bugs in the game.
Ya it is dieing mostly because Anet doesn’t do what it says, still havent finished the game while continually working on new content they might as well spit in our faces. Plus fail to communicate effectively allowing people to believe they don’t really care. While engaging in manipulating the market place, making it more difficult on casual players. Fundementally and systematically making the game more difficult by adding DR and other game ruining systems.
To me it looks like their trying to kill the game.
So Anet told us that they would stop giving us information in such poor fashion such as through third party, then they give us information through third party like a couple of days later the pvp “live” stream.
Doee anyone else think they avoid their own forums because they would have to answer real questions?
For instance the most commonly asked questions are about the DR, the excessive bugs in the game, Anets manipulation of the market, and low population servers.
Why has it been so hard to answer these questions.
The percentage of gold buying players is low. Its mostly players who used bugs or actually played them game correctly the problem is by the time casual players started farming anet slowly close so many ways to make money. It use to be easy to get gold really really easy. Anet is just making it harder and harder. That is what your seeing now
I mean hell you need like what 1500-2000 gold if you were starting out from scratch.
Will future people buy gold probably.
(edited by Volomon.9147)
They just keep putting out “we want” statements instead of “we are doing” statements. I have a feeling they either don’t have the people for the job or they have their priority backwards I to would like to see them finish the game rather than add stuff to it.
Wonder which of these areas will open up first. Id love to see what Jormag looks like. Then again I hate Norn lands.
Ya Id put my money on an ability there so many ways to escape especially for theives and mesmers.
Who knows what anet is thinking or planning. All I know is every decision they make tends to be a bad one.
Type /wiki from the game /wiki (subject).
That will give you info in a browser.
It would have to be Guardian. Warriors have more health, but if you took the time and gave it a thought you’d realize why. It’s because a Guardian can potential fill their life twice easily. It’s what I do.
Guardians might start out with 15k, but when you can fill that twice (and probably then some) that becomes 45k. Where as the Warrior might have 20k or if hes totally topped up 36k (max buff/wvw) and you can fill it just a tad bit when you go to heal. Really as a Guardian you should shoot for 20k minimum life.
Not to mention the Guardian is constantly regenerating.
Now sit down and ask yourself why everyone is basing best off of life and survival. It’s because every kitten mob at level 80 hits to hard and has to many instant kills. So ever think maybe the game is just a bit unbalanced in some areas?
I say no its not that hard, i can easly survive as necromancer 26k health no unbalance i think its even to easy sometimes and i see warriors many times die while i have to revive them im doing most of time the kiting the boss becouse warrior dies alot when tanking.
Ya necros have the advantage of forms. Not to mention necros have the second highest life in the game after Warriors. So to say you find it easy I imagine so. Once again based on life. Unfortunately not ever other class has the ability to tank in alternate forms plus have the life of a warrior. Sorry to shoot your high horse in the leg.
Personally I would rank survival Guardian, Necro, then Warrior. Also most if not nearly all warriors are not “tank” specced.
your hdd are too slow. get a ssd.
This guy is clearly a genius. Lets get better harddrives to get Anets internet protocol to work better. It’ll fix graphics issues too. Oh wise wizard please gain employment from Anet.
The game was very very nice, extremely helpful community but that community kind of died off seem like right at or during The Lost Shores event. What is left is the more hardcore community and ya it’s a bit rough around the edges. I’ve seen a significant change of attitude. Probably not just the switch of the old guard, but the frustration with Guild Wars 2 as well. Most of the time the heat starts up over frustrations with bugs, and other things with the game. It boils over into the community.
I think once Anet stops messing around with expansions, and events and starts working on bugs we’ll see some of the community return and some of anger go away. Also removing dungeon DR would help.
No idea, DR was something invented after the game was released. It’s to provide a “buffer” they said. In case anyone was abusing the system. “Normal” people are not even suppose to be able to trigger it.
At least that’s what they said. So basically if your triggering it your not playing the game right.
I call BS on the whole DR system though, but that’s just me.
I always thought these looked more like mesmer weapons this and the “mist” weapons.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Whisperblade No idea about bolt though.
There is a teleport hack, but that doesn’t mean that’s what it was. However if he was going to use that hack then there were other hacks he would have been using instead. So to me it makes it slightly unreasonable that he was using a hack.
I don’t hack by the way I just like to know whats going on in the game, since Anet never gives us patch notes on what exploits they’ve patched and whats still left.

Either way instanced or not I would like to see more content that involves more players. With difficulties that don’t revolve around knock-downs, knock-backs, stuns and every other form of control.
Honestly it will. Because as we all saw during Lost Shore GW2 can’t handle a ton of people in open areas.
I think it was more of a design and technical issue based on the number of players localised to a specific area. (tbh i think this was a metrics test)
And well, i feel thats the lesser of 2 evils, instanced open world zones with player caps are a far better soloution than purely instanced areas, i also think if they worked on the technology a bit more and increased zone size they would get more people in a zone, allowing for a radial culling system and multiple data servers.
Open world dungeons with multiple levels, that would be cool.
I don’t see why they would do a metrics test, when they had one for closed and one for open. Don’t we already have multiple instance open zones called Overflow? Or are you talking about sectional world zones like in WoW? I personally don’t find it matters to me. In a game like WOW it’s exactly the same thing as what you see in GW2 they just separate the zones with invisible barriers rather than the gates GW2 uses.
They just have the money to buffer in the background and load the new content as your walking into a new area or zone. GW2 takes the old approach: Loading Screen.
Swapping to a new server is free every 7 days. Also yes, the way Anet did the servers appears to be a very dumb way. Instead of showing servers by how full they are (actual people playing) they show how full they are by accounts associated with the server. Which when no one is using those accounts the server might as well say empty.
Pretty sure that’s not true. Very few servers are full during my evenings (Oceanic primetime). And I have had a bunch of people move to Blackgate (my server, one of the more popular ones) since launch, they just had to wait till the early hours of the morning to get in.
Well I have a very hard time believing the server I came from had a high population. There would be maybe a hand full of people in Lions Arch. 0 people in almost every map. It was getting to the point where I would see more bots than players. Maybe it doesn’t work the way I think it does but whatever method there using isn’t accurate.
I find this hard to believe. No rewarding loot? Like Ectoplasm? Jade Shards? Platinum? Salvaging for loot was just as important in Guild Wars 1. There was just no DR. It’s the exact same system except the people behind GW2 want to put our hands in cuffs when we play to much.
Acquiring a lot of Ectos, Platinum, and Jade Shards took just as much farming/grinding as dungeon tokens do in GW2. The only value ectos, platinum, and jade shards had was buying fancier looking armor. Dungeon tokens serve the same purpose.
Ya except the DR gives you 0 eventually. That’s a bit of a difference, I don’t know what other games where you eventually get zero of the thing your farming for. That’s our point we want to be able to grind if we want to, not told hey you can’t do that any more. Who’s it hurting if I get better looking gear?
It’s an MMO. I’m unaware of any modern MMO that does not have instanced content. Instanced means there there is multiple of something like a dungeon. Not everyone is on the same dungeon even when all those people are from the same server.
Seems like that title is horribly wrong for the premise of your posts content though. It seems like your more worried whether the instanced parts of the game will overwhelm the open area content.
Honestly it will. Because as we all saw during Lost Shore GW2 can’t handle a ton of people in open areas. It just can’t. There not spending time fixing bugs, there not spending time improving the game.
They for some reason are spending time on adding content. It’s baffling.
Ya I have to agree that is kind of a ruffle of the feathers isn’t it.
its not the grind,is not enough rewarding loot plus DR
GW1 didn’t have any “rewarding loot”, and it did well for many years across 4 different campaigns.
Games can exist outside of a gear treadmill, believe it or not.

Ya have to agree about the storyline being trapped inside these dungeons. What if someone never wants to do a dungeon. Someone wants to solo play their heart out. Why do they have to be refused the whole story? At the very minimum there should be something that explains what happen maybe a put together cut scene of what happened in the dungeon.
Swapping to a new server is free every 7 days. Also yes, the way Anet did the servers appears to be a very dumb way. Instead of showing servers by how full they are (actual people playing) they show how full they are by accounts associated with the server. Which when no one is using those accounts the server might as well say empty.
From what I’ve been told it’s account wide, and it’s sololy time based. There is no grinding it away faster.
its not the grind,is not enough rewarding loot plus DR, if they want you to farm then let us farm how we want, example killing only x mob because you know it will drop (or has high chance) x item which you want but the mechanics here make this…simple impossible.
100% this, I wouldn’t be on my way out if we could grind when we wanted to. As it is now there is a cap, then you have to quit playing the game and start playing another MMO.
Even now I get on hit my dungeon cap, log off.
I almost made it through, but stopped at “There are NO BABYSITTERS”. Sorry, tanks and healers are not babysitters. Tanks are tanks; healers are healers.
This is true, please refrain from using that phrase since it might be insulting for other players. It just causes arguments and a bad mood in the community.
Thanks for your understanding.
Greetings
Does this post make any sense? I’m assuming that the quote your referring to is “There are NO BABYSITTERS” and honestly I find it insulting. If that’s not what your referring to then that’s even more puzzling. In fact I find that OPs entire thread is a bait/trolling. So the question is why hit on the guy who repeats a phrase that is repetitive in the threads opening post? I don’t understand why this thread isn’t already closed. Since it’s a blatantly OBVIOUS troll thread.
So what if someone wants to go full TANK, someone wants to go full DPS, whether there is BABYSITTER or not is irrelevant. Maybe people like playing as those type of characters.
ANET <- Made it possible to play this way, and it is not the new player who is at fault but the lack of direction given to the new player.
Also I find the thread to be a little naive, I mean we invest in traits to which they perform certain actions and improve various functions be they DPS or what have you. To expect everyone to chose TOUGHNESS + VITALITY and then one other stat is ridiculous. Because that’s pretty much what your saying.
Control is not dodging or movement. Control is the ability to maintain a target, by knockdown, moa, ect,. Dodging and movement are mitigation.
As far as Damage goes, your talking about the difference if I got full DPS of 10,000+ or 3,000. So why not people specialize and make up for other peoples lack of abilities by grouping.
Is that not why we group? We group to fill in the gaps in our capabilities. Not to zerg content.
Maybe the problem isn’t what you list but Anets failure to show players abilities in a defined LFG system. So we can see who is support who is tough, who is dps. I don’t blame the player but Anet’s lack of foresight.
If we had a system that allow us to see each players traits, we’d be able to form groups that are more efficient. Rather than depend upon the player to have learned a system not taught to the by the game they play but rather through message boards.
Thank you for your understanding of course.

Ya its kind of hard to get excited about anything they say, they have a record of slow turn around. Not to mention when are they getting around to the ton of bugs? I’m actually at this point more interested in bug fixes, minor tweaks, and a DR reduction <- talked about adjustment 1-2 months ago. Still nothing.
I have to agree with OP it makes no sense that there would be PVP in a PVP zone. What has the world come to. MADNESS I SAY, MADNESS!
Sometimes the respawns are not suppose to be dealt with only managed while another goal is in place. The point is not to beat the spawns but to complete a goal. At which point they stop spawning. It’s in a lot places.
In other words your doing it wrong.
People go to Southsun Cove??? I’m shocked.
There’s a reporting system in game, you realize that right? A vid, a pic, or anything else is not needed. It will get removed from here if you do put it up. Good spot but use whats in game. They don’t check these forums for reports.
Talk about adding a grind on top of a grind. I can’t believe this exists there are other games with token based system and they don’t penalize you for having more than one character.
I don’t know if you played BETA but there were quests in BETA were you could die up to 50 times or it would be impossible to complete. Man it’s changed a lot. I wouldn’t put it over on Anet to say they got every little thing.
But ya I agree about the end quest thing because eventually everyone’s going to be done with that, so what do you do when there’s no one left to help?
Ok I’m not even sure here but I was doing dungeons on one character, hit the cap. So I get on my other 80 and start out on the cap it looked like.
Is this right? I mean what if we have more than one 80 am I suppose to gear them each from a different dungeon? The DR thing on tokens seems so stupid to me. So stupid that I question whether this is a bug or as intended.
I don’t think gear is as important as those guys said, I was using level 52 gear on my 2nd level 80. Didn’t realize it till I started doing dungeons.
It’s more likely your just being over whelmed. Try to take them one by one, use more dodging. Better yet incorporate long ranged weapon combat into your style. You will find as a Warrior this is a must at times.
Personally I think it would work, and with the DR system in place I don’t think everyone would do only the easiest. They will at first but as soon as they hit that cap they’ll go on to the next.
The DR would still be per dungeon but a universal token would still be given at max if you went to another dungeon.
I just want to point out the only reason they even said anything was crowd control a lot of people quit because of this ascended gear nonsense. Personally I like it, but apparently a lot of GW1 fans just plain stopped even logging on and as far as I know it is just getting worse.
In fact at this point, players for GW2 have slowly been declining since release, with increases at special event times like Lost Shore, ect,.
Most likely the reason Wintersday is such a long event.
According to the stats GW2 will be in the grave within another 3 to 4 months as a dead game most likely they will begin to remove servers at this time.
This is why they mention communication. When you say something and it makes thousands and thousands of players stop playing, you failed to communicate properly.
Oddly enough as a strange thing Wintersday lasts until the 2013 fiscal 1st quarter is over. Expect a lot of gem items….
(edited by Volomon.9147)
Saldonus and Voldomon,
Okay… I get what you’re saying, but I was hoping to get deeper ideas than just “It’s all marketing.” I didn’t ask “What’s wrong with communication.” I asked, “What would be better?” What would you like to see them say? Specific timelines? Detailed plans?
I would like to see what they say in twitter facebook on the actual communication paths outlined above.
First off we should understand what they are saying, when they said “we should communicate better”. They meant paths (better ways to get messages to the people), and to fully explain things better (not half explain things to where people launch on to the forums and scream BS). Not what should we say. So I think what I would have them say is kind of moot since that’s not what they were asking about.
However since it’s what YOU’RE asking about. I would specifically like them to stop stealth patching things. Like the last patch was claimed as “maintenance” but it was actually a patch against some exploits in the game. Why they hide this information I’m not sure. Shouldn’t we be glad there getting rid of exploits? Are they afraid that if they showed how many exploits they are patching we would think them incompetent, maybe.
I would like a full detailed patch list every single time, I should not have to look for the information.
