Thank you for the reply but this is not working for me, my problem is I can’t turn my character holding down my right mouse button unless I am in movement, this is killing me here, to me this out right breaks the game for me, (Imo) game controls are number 1 before anything else, I don’t care how good the game is how much content it has if the game controls are not streamline I can’t play the game.
I would like a word from someone over at Anet is it intended that holding down the right mouse button to function the same as holding down the left mouse button while standing still? (meaning character not turning with camera)
Please I need a reply on this because if this is a bug I’ll stick it out and support you until it is fixed but if this is intended then I can no longer play this game because this is not the type of game control that I enjoy and use to in a MMO.
I and many have asked this question sense beta and we got no reply on the matter.

Whenever someone stealths it will remove the call target by itself. They did this so its hard to find out which one is the real mesmer.
Humm when was this added because just the other day I was fighting mesmers and it seemed to stick on target when they vanished and split clones?
I was fighting a mes as a mes and I had the enemy mes marked but somehow he keeped wiping my call target, how is this done I looked in the options and can’t see anywhere that lets me remove call target from myself.
I really hate to think that this person was using a hack of some sort because he was such a nice dude, when I asked him how was he removing the mark, he replied y or t but forget what the key bind was in options as he said he rebound it.
Problem 1: Combat forward run speed is approximately 210 range units per second. Strafe speed, in and out of combat, is approximately 180 units per second.
Problem 2: Holding down the right mouse button while standing idle turns the camera not the character.
Fix for Problem 1: Strafe speed, in and out of combat, is increased to 210 units per second.
Fix for Problem 2: Holding down the right mouse button while standing idle turns the character with the camera.
Fix those problems and the game will feel allot more responsive (less sluggish).
I agree with you Effusion, I wasn’t trying to be rude i’m sorry if i came off that way, I was just expressing that if one needs to know all this for one class then something is very off here, I can see if all the classes one faces would need such a drawn out plain of attack to counter them but that’s not that case as you pointed out, I really don’t think we or the hundreds of people would even be having this conversation if that was.
There is more then one way to have a overpowered class and a Mesmer isn’t overpowered in the sense of “bam” dead in 2 seconds (because that would be the Thief class and that’s another topic) but more so in way to complex to counter compared to other classes, the Mesmer requires waaaaaaay too much effort in comparison to other classes and because of this the Mesmer is overpowered.
The key to beating a Mesmer is LUCK, nothing more, if you get lucky to attack the real Memser you win.
No. Luck is ineffective against mesmers who are actually good and unreliable against the ones that aren’t. Learn how to fight them instead.
1) Kill phantasms. They’re responsible for a large amount of a mesmer’s damage output and are what allows a mesmer to play defensively while still hurting you. Phantasms are very weak and you should be able to 1 shot them without blowing your big cooldowns. AoE works especially well.
2) Don’t kill yourself on projectile reflection or confusion.
3) Learn to tell the mesmer apart from clones. It’s not hard, it just takes some practice. The best way to learn is to just play as a mesmer for a while to get used to what clones do. If its moving, it’s probably not a clone.
4) Learn to dodge/los/block moa, and be very glad the mesmer isn’t using time warp instead. You can still dodge roll if you get transformed (it just looks like you’re running faster), so unless you’re a minion master (sorry necros, that actually is unfair) you’re not automatically screwed.
5) When all the clones make a bee-line for you, that’s a shatter. Dodge roll, block, or the like.
6) Run away if you need to. Mesmers have a pretty limited ability to chase.Don’t rush, don’t panic, and don’t get stupid. You have more control over the fight than you probably realize.
So in order to kill a Mesmer effectively I need a game guide written by Prima game guides?
I have come to the conclusion that if you need a dealtiled list of instructions to kill a class then that class is overpowered, why don’t we need dealtiled list of instructions to kill any other class, why should we have to treat Mesmers like a raid boss with detailed strategies in order to kill them, why should we have to go on Tankspot.com to learn to kill a Mesmer?
The key to beating a Mesmer is LUCK, nothing more, if you get lucky to attack the real Memser you win, I can beat Mesmers with my Ranger but only if I’m Heal/Tank build and that’s because I can simple outlast the Memser but any other build or class it’s rally luck.
@OP keep telling yourself that, keep telling yourself that 12k+ backstabs followed by 9k+ heartseekers on 3k toughness is strategic planning, bottom line the Thief’s burst needs a massive nerf, I say a good 50% nerf and this is because they have no cooldown unlike the rest of the classes.
As for Mesmesr this class is legal botting no matter how you look at it, you create clones/phantasms and they do all the work for you, they need to make it that a player can not lose target vs a Mesmer and also lower the clone/phantasm damage by allot but increase the Mesmers direct damage so the class isn’t a ArenaNet certified botting program.
This game is new and i’m sure there will allot of tweeks to come, so before you go all irrational learn to use logic and reason and whats best for the game as a whole not what best for “me,me,me”.
Conditions need to crit IMO
1. I don’t really get this question. Are you asking if PvE gear will eventually be better than sPvP gear?
2. Yes base stats are all the same, then further modified by the gear you wear.

Yeah for question 1, will pve gear over time get you stronger/better then in spvp gear.
For question 3 just wanted to know how much each stat effects what, like x amount of power increases x amount of weapon damage or how many points of condition damage = 1 point of extra condition damage when applied

Some other interesting ideas and facts:
If you take the Vigorous Renewal trait, which grants 5 seconds of vigor on heal, it will give you vigor on every application of regeneration from Healing Spring, so you can have perma vigor as long as the spring is down and you are on top of it. Dwanya runes work similarly, so you can apply additional group regen every 10 seconds.
It also grants the vigor to allies, so you can keep your entire team buffed with vigor, regen and cleansing for a short time when your heal is down.
Another trick I’ve picked up is using your spirit of nature’s active right before you drop to downstate. You will be revived as soon as you go down by the time it lands the active.
Hummm interesting, i will indeed test this out…

@kasama yeah i find sigil of blood useless because of the 4% crit chance considering it only has 30%chance to steal health on crit..
Only that the elite spirit skill has sooo long cooldown…
Yeah I’m kind of see this this myself, I swapped to Sigil of Life and at 25 stacks i’m sitting at almost 1600 + healing.

been using this since BWE 2. it’s actually not that great once your boons are stripped/corrupted.
True but lets take a look at how many classes can strip boons from you non stop, other then a Mesmer that’s pretty much it.
This build is very strong overall, sure it’s not the faceroll every class build if that was the case this class wouldn’t be called a Ranger but instead a Mesmer (Pun intended) : )

Just a heads up, Nature’s Bounty doesn’t affect Troll Unguent. Despite what the tooltip on Unguent says, check your buffs when you cast it. It doesn’t put the regeneration boon on you, and that’s what Nature’s Bounty affects.
Nature’s Bounty does affect the regeneration on Healing Spring, though. I like using Dwayna Runes for builds like this. Less toughness than Guardian Runes, but you get a lot more regeneration, which makes Nature’s Bounty that much more effective.
Humm didn’t take notice on Nature’s Bounty not affecting Troll Unguent, thanks for clearing that up for me, but I do know that +Healing really cranks up my heal over time from Troll Unguent, right now it tics for something like 1100 healing a tic.

Druid because the ranger is a nature class also because WoW’s Druid is a heal over time healer, but I see your point this being GW2 and all but other then the high toughness there nothing Guardian about it.
Dodge should break ALL Stuns/CC, “excluding snares” but not without a cost of 100% energy…

Reply: Not unless you are in a group, what needs to be done is make it so “Tab” will not target the clones unless you click on them via mouse pointer, same for all pets Ranger and Necro alike.

It’s only a matter of time before the “Great Mesmer Nerf”, this happens to all MMO’s with unique classes with no outlined structure from default fantasy/Sci Fi templates to guide the direction of a classes balance, a perfect example was Swtor’s Scoundrel class, because of using a never before see or tested game mechanic (the cover system) caused imbalance and within the first week of the games release the scoundrel got nerfed shortly after, the same will happen to GW2’s Mesmer, lets just hope they don’t over nerf the class like most do.

You could shuffle some traits around and still get the toughness you want and pick up Dwayna. Bark Skin is awesome, you should consider picking it up.

Bark Skin is Nice now that I think about it…, I did use it when I was testing out a pure tank=ish rune set up but never with healing runes, I’ll give it a go thx…

@ Red I use both It really comes down to what I’m doing, for SPvP Stone might be a better choice but for WvW Hunt gives me that small speed bonus.
@Spoodigity I have found that for the most part conditions are not a problem for me at all, I also use Troll Unguent if I’m solo in WvW, that Heal over time is nasty with 1200+ healing, also with the trait Nature’s Bounty giving all my (Hots) a 33% up time I have found that my (Hots) stay up 100% of the time, well at least 30 seconds and in time for me to reapply the healing of time effect, also the reason not Dwanya is I have tried it and I have found that even though I get a bit more + healing I’m to soft when I get focused fired upon, the toughness I get from the Guardian runes gives me a good amount of damage reduction to go nicely with my healing, “a perfect marriage” sort of speak, it gives me the defense to live though 100B & Heartseeker spammer so long as I have my hots rolling and the Dwanya runes does not.
Over all I am very happy with this set up the damage is on the low side but it gets the job done, this spec is for those people that hate being burst down by overpowered “Heartseeker spammers”, “100B mouth breathers” & “I think I so skilled Mesmers but it’s my OP class” players, sorry a bit overboard but you can see my inspiration for such a spec, fight Fire with Water and see who gets nerfed first. lol

I know some of you are going to want to kill me after this so sorry ahead of time lol.
There is one build that is unstoppable, unkillable 1v1, 1v2,1v3 by any class or build and the best group healing support in the game, this build I like to call the “Ranger-Druid” build, damage is on the lower end but you can and will win any encounter, just might take a bit longer.
Below are the key points to this guild:

2. Runes: Rune of the Guardian
3. Sigils: Sigil of Life or Sigil of Blood
4. PvP Cleric’s Amulet
5. Pets: Fern Hound (main pet for the heal), bear for when you need to use “Protect me”
All in all you will sit at 1273 healing, 1975 toughness & 17082 health.
I have had soooo many people %#$&*^@! at me in SPvP chat and countless whispers from “reported for Hacking” to what’s your build, for a long time now I was pretty much hush about the build due to fear of getting it nerfed but then I got the thinking sure they live forever but they are no more OP then a defensive Guardian or Mesmer so if they would nerf the Ranger-Druid they would have to nerf those professions first or healing altogether hurting every profession so the chances for a nerf are very slim.

IMO no player controlled skill should self root you to the ground this IMO is bad in every way let alone self root on a melee class.
Why would anyone want to crowd control themselves, when you have abilities that CC the player that ability become a gimmick ability like 100b and others like it, self rooting abilities make the game feel like a cheap point and click Asian MMO or a hack & slash Moba game, self rooting abilities have no place in a action packed 3D MMO.
Because of this you just handed PvP on a platter to ranged classes and in time as you can see already PvP will become nothing more then Guardians as there support and all ranged leaving Melee for Pve only.
Is there some technical reason as to why we can’t move our 1-5 ability skills around?
I would really love to be able to move 1-5 abilities with in 1-5 so that I can place them where I like, the problem is swapping weapons makes it a pain in the butt to use skills that are not in a comfortable spot for me, because of this I tend to mostly stay using one weapon choice and the second weapon choice I do use are limited to abilities that I feel are useful and in a comfortable spot to the weapon choice standard 1-5 keyboard layout.
Please give us the option to move abilities within 1-5 to give players like myself and i’m sure others better comfort in game play.
On a side note: I have a bad left hand and because of this I have limited range in my finger movement, this would help me out a ton and others like myself with handicaps, thanks for your time : )
When I hold down my right mouse button while standing still the screen moves around my character the same as if you hold down the left mouse button, every now and then my character will turn while standing still holding down the right mouse button but then it bugs out and starts to work like you were holding down the left mouse button.
My character only turns when I am moving holding down the right mouse button but pans around my character when i’m standing idle 99 % of the time.
