I have done Orr temples. To me a major difference is the scope and simplicity. If you want to beat them easy, they’re zergable (cept Balthazar, which I’ve only won because it bugged but seems not exactly zergable). Just like with Tequatl and the other dragons, if you have enough people, it’s too easy to be fun because they don’t scale.

So the real solution is not about raids, but with more scalable world events.
Now it can be difficult, but i can say that devs can counter high numbers, only with high numbers. MORE ADDS and stronger boss! just like the LOST SHORE event final boss!

scalability is only part of it. No one wants difficulty in the sense of just slap more health and do more damage, that is not fun. You want mechanics that make it difficult, what if at so many people jormag no longer allows you to huddle together to take damage. Thats the problem with world events like dragons only so much can be done because there is no limit on the amount of people. Only by limiting that does the difficulty go up enough to be considered a challenge.

Really the heart of this argument isnt about raids its about having challenging content that a set group of people can embark on that actually causes you to work together and progress just In a larger group which allows for more mechanics in a fight not just one or two.

Raids are not inherently tied to gear progression.

Raids are simply large-scale organized group/guild PvE content.

Something this game DESPERATELY needs.

This so much, I love raiding . While I have become more casual with it over time I still enjoy the group dynamics of working together which of course comes with a social aspect desperately needed.

The social aspects I recall from raiding involve standing around for half an hour while the stragglers file in, trying to pretend that I wouldn’t rather be doing anything else but sitting on my hands; shrieking at the newbs for making newb mistakes; then wheedling, complaining and ultimately crying, over loot drops.

There are times I would have given my left arm, just for the opportunity to beat my fellow raiders over the head with it until the bleating stopped. I never, ever, ever want to be forced to play with people I don’t want to play with, in order to access game content I’ve paid for. Never again.

Raiding belongs to WoW and they both belong in the gutter. Better Blizzard continues to copy ArenaNet’s ideas than the other way around.

Perhaps our experience is different but getting 10 people together wasnt hard and at that amount its enough to have a solid working machine. Raids dont have to be 25 or 40 people I never cared for those large amounts but 10 is a good number its small enough to know everyone and large enough to require higher coordination.

Also nothing is stopping them from being accessible hell all you have to do is modify slightly wows current difficulty teirs. Rather then dropping better loot in terms of stats you just make the 3 difficulties (easy , medium , hard) give more ornate gear.

I just dont know why fractals dont use the hub as the as the group up spot. You have a group you walk into fractals and then in the hub you set the lvl before starting. Rather the do it before you enter causing this debacle.

Why does ascended armor need better stats?

Fractals have provided for atleast me something to do. I hit 80 with my new main, explored everything , I dont care for WvW to much , I do enjoy spvp but much more is needed in terms of maps and game types (especially something to show outside of it), after that which didnt take to much time you run out of things to do. Sure there are dungeons but they dont give a sense of progression as they are not treated as end game.

FOTM is the only thing currently I would consider end game. What anet needs to do now is expand ascended gear in terms of power across the world. Orr needs a revamp or just a new 80 zone that is one super long chain of events leading to an absurd climatic event which provides ascended gear at the end ans gives some sort of world bonus much like wvw does.

Once its expanded we can get different gear In future dungeons of the same stats with a new resistance for a few new dungeons and then create a dungeon that uses a mix of those resistances ( the new ones and agony) or by merging all the different resistances gear into a new resistance. This keeps both vertical and horizontal progression which I personally want both.

Dungeon P/P + EG stat priority

Just curious what the stat priority should be for P/P + EG , im currently traited as 10/30/0/30/0 and have been enjoying it alot with the support and being able to do damage as well.

For gear atm i have been going for the most part percision, Tough , Condition stats with some power mixed in as well.

Here is the general thought to appease both crowds

You are not going to please both groups, considering how they have opposite views. ArenaNet should learn that they, too, won’t please both groups – if they try, the best they can do is build something that is “meh” to everyone and great to no one.

I think its entirely possible to do so , the key is to expand horizontally in a tier of gear while providing vertical progression within those areas. Just imagine there is two Fractals. You got fractals A and Fractals B.

Fractals A has agony
Fractals B has some other condition.

Fractals A requires agony resistance to progress further but is useless in Fractals B as it has a different condition. So you grow vertically in each section however the vertical progression is confined within that area. At the same point you can more horizontally easily within each but you wont be able to go to higher levels quickly.

At some point perhaps another tier of gear could be added way down the line but i think part of the problem was how quickly fractals was added which was strictly vertical but thats not to say they can plateau at that point for a bit and expand horizontally .

This only happens towards the end of the jormag fight right before he is about to get stunned on phase 2 with the golems.

It just ends up looping what sounds like a feedback sound coming in and out, and will continue to do so untill gw2 is rebooted.

I know this tends to be a heated topic on the forums, between those who are X guildwars 1 fans and those who are X other MMO fands. However on the same note it would be fair to say that GW2 is an mmo while GW1 was less of one with how it was designed as such the progression should have both.

Here is the general thought to appease both crowds and make an interesting way to progress. First off we have Fractals which as of right now is strictly vertical in terms of progression as its above exotics, Ascended gear has also another key feature in that it provides a Resistance. That resistance allows you to progress vertically within fractals as you need agony resistance.

Well why not take that same theme and provide it to new sets of dungeons that come.

So right now you have something like this:
Legendary
Ascended
Exotic

Well with dungeons to come it could look like this:
Legendary
Ascended , B Resistance, C resistance
Exotic

With this you have both forms of vertical and horizontal progression, horizontal in the sense that past exotics you can pick any of the dungeons and vertical within those dungeons to reach the top of them.

Im 22 and im having a good time playing gw2, i think what i enjoy the most is having a more relaxed play style with no scheduled raiding. With work and last year of college its very helpful.

just to extend this finding, i researched it a little before i went through with it and it seems to mainly have an effect on AMD systems. Not to say intel systems cant also benefit from this it seems they have run into more issues when attempting the fix.

Im running a 1100T @ 4.0

Good sir my hat is off, this seems to have fixed it i always seem to have the stuttering issue after 2 waypoint jumps. Issue is non existent , i even had this random occurence in PS2 bete i have yet to check it again.

Random drops in FPS

Iv had this issue for a little and its hard to recreate its just randomly it will drop in FPS. Large fights will have no problem and then randomly a drop, same thing for small fights will work fine and then a random drop. This is limited to GW2

I think the problem is people cant seem to make a proper diet of games. For a meal most people dont just eat just the steak. You have your Potato and some vegies.

My point is different games satisfy different wants gw2 is my relaxing game. I dont have to take it to serious. For my more engaging game i have planetside 2. And for cruel games there is Monster hunter and dark souls. Put more on your plate then just the steak.

Why isn't it free to respec traits?

Keep the costs and add the ability to have 2 or 3 sets traits for difference situations. For dungeons i want a survival build, for just questing glass cannon, PVP somewhere in the middle.

I think this becomes a greater issue and becomes amplified with how hard dungeons are, how often on these forums do we here complaining about how hard they are or how there group is just all glass cannons and cant complete anything? Part of that issue would be resolved with multiple trait specs , people go glass cannon cause its good for mostly everything. You will do great out in the World and youl do fine in WPVP and even SPVP so when push comes to shove do you go with the traits that work mostly everywhere? or go for the one that is good only in a limited capacity ?

FPS Hang up issue

Ever since a few days ago iv been having an issue where the game will chug when around other players also fighting, my FPS will sit at around 50 and then suddenly drop to 20 and back up and back down. I did not have this issue a week ago so im wondering what changed?

Without the Tank & Healer concepts, this game is an action based combat MMO. It just doesn’t work well for an MMO. Everything is too chaotic, and it feels like a game where everything can be zerged. It was good in theory though, but it wasn’t executed as good as it should have been. They threw in traditional mechanics for bosses, when in fact, they needed to re-imagine them with the Action Combat in mind. They can still save the concept of No Tank & No Healer, but trash mobs & boss mechanics, will need to be changed and adapt to this different playstyle.

This right here i think is the true crux of the issue, is the dungeons are based on the old design. Once dungeons are built with this new idea in mind i think will have something.

The most unenjoyable thing of dungeons is its not mechanics its just mobs with large health pools that hit like trucks with smaller trucks inside those trucks. They dont do anything special that require you to change what your doing in short they have no mechanics behind basic moves that hit hard.

That’s actually one map and comparable to keeps, towers, camps and other objectives.

Im aware im in PS2 beta, im just saying imagine it as its own zones for the sake of discussion. Some hexes are just open land and not bases or anything but that doesnt exactly work well in GW2 setting.

Theres nothing stopping a system from being progressive and having multiple maps available the only exception to that rule would be the final push to attack a server.

Imagine each hex as a zone and you get an idea of progressing with multiple maps open at a time. Zones have multiple fronts except towards the final pushes.

My hope is that WvW will evolve to have progression in it, by this i mean not only is there is a decent reason to progress but there is progression. As of currently with the 4 areas being separate and without the need of pushing one to get into another its just a lot of movement with limited front lines that dont last long.

What id love to see in the future of where there is zones that are conquered and cant be pushed into until other factions have made headway to breakthrough into said locked zone. Good examples of such systems would be DAOC,Planetside, and WAR. The final thing needed in RVR is an end game to it, or rather a final goal for progressing so far and to this id love to see something aking to killing the king in Warhammer where you earn special currency for killing him and gain gear from said currency.

The one major element is the dungeon crawl, the good, indepthful mechanics of later bosses, the bigger community guild raids ect.

I don’t know if you noticed, but even Blizzard acknowledged their highly specialized raids ruined their game for a majority of their player base, ergo they changed it to offer easier access to them; which partially solved the problem. I agree with Blizzard and agree with Arena Nets decision to forgo highly specialized raids (i.e., they require a large number of participants, the right gear, and hours on end, and reset progress made).

You honestly trying to tell use that doing little minor asthetic things is worth it compared to playing awesome dungeons that offer alot of fun, challenge AND REWARD in all shapes and sizes isn’t part of the “An MMO to appeal to everyone” philosophy?

The game may lack challenge, I’ll give you that, but I see no reason why rewards have to offer power or character progression if the content is indeed fun and challenging. Games are meant to be fun and challenging, they are not required to doll out goodies. Stat progression only creates a system of optimization that precludes entry to content. Everyone should be able to enjoy the fun and challenge without being excluded because they lack the right stats.

1) No, unlike Arenanet, Blizzard has given their users a choice. LF Raid is for the casual encounter players to still progress their characters with a smaller challenge yet experience the content, and give rewards relative to that progression (Similar looking sets but weaker or uglier)

Then there is Normal mode for medium challenge for people who want the “normal difficulty as intended”

Then there is Heroic mode for those that want serious challenge with best reward.

NOW there is challenge mode which is even higher again with leaderboards and statistics which is a much better system than this game’s idea of “Playing for the challenge”

None of which require you to grind 1000s of tokens, none of which are flat and stale, none of which provide no reward over really really long intervals of time. none of which pretend that only challenge matters, YOU NEED A BALANCE OF BOTH.

Serious to god the apologist can’t understand that you need a healthy balance of challenge and reward in order to trigger fun, not just challenge for the sake of challenge in a genre CALLED ROLE-PLAYING where your character progresses in a variety of ways VIA REWARDS.

Please if your going to use examples at least use them correctly. LFR>Normal>Heroic is for raids there is no such thing as challenge mode raids.

Now for dungeons it goes Heroic(lvl 90 version)> Challenge(does not provide gear with stats just for looks and prestige ).
