For many of us endgame is enjoying the game in the manner which we like. Whether that be fighting in WvW, doing PVP, roleplaying with guildies, dungeon crawling for new skins, grinding mats for a legendary, doing some DEs, leveling an alt, taking part in the living story, trying out new builds ….. ect, and on and on.

For others endgame is: Racing to cap level as fast as possible, figuring out which dungeon is the easiest and repeating that dungeon a hundred times till you have enough gold to buy 10 legendries’, raiding high level dungeons for gear that has better stats than what the majority of the player base has, going to WvW with some friends to gank people 4 on 1, fighting lots of 1v1s and losing despite claims to being “pro” players, screaming on the forums for Anet to add even more stat based gear so that their stat advantage can become larger and larger to help mask their lack of skill. And last but not least, starting a dungeon run with 3 guildies and then kicking some poor slob that is not one their buddies from their 5 man group right before the reward chest – then laughing their 16 year old butts off about it.

So as you can see, End-game can differ quite a bit from person to person

The main reason I hate, loathe and despise all JP in GW2 is the crappy camera.

Too Much Temporary Content Can Only Harm GW2

I felt like it was worth tossing my hat in the ring with the OP.

Long story short i decided to stop playing during dragonbash (did not care for the event at all) and i simply havnt come back yet and most likely wont until i see something permanent added. The further we get from when i quit the less likely i am to return as im just missing more and more, in addition to this there isnt anything added beyond the current event that i have experienced all ready.

The amount of content that existed when i quit and return is the same as nothing permanent has been added.

The issue with this type of content is thats its great when you are playing, however once you take that break it actually creates a barrier to return.

We need Raid Groups

Just wondering whether we can get confirmation if adding support for Raid Groups is even in development?

Not another one of these threads…..
Please use the search function before creating duplicate threads for subjects that have already had multiple discussions. The mods have to keep merging these and they have better things to do.
The short answer to your question is no. Nothing has ever been mentioned about adding raids or even a suggestion of them being in development or even that anyone inside anet has even given them any thought at all. You could ask the same question about adding flying saucers to the game and it would have just about the same relevance.

Because there’s a new mini game, and splitting the population among 87 minigames would mean not enough people to play each one.

If Anet left everything in the game, the population would end up massively divided.

I dont know how to even respond to this, so what if there is a new mini game? Should we get rid of kegbrawl then? Dragon Ball is a holiday mini game, it will be back again. When Wintersday, Halloween , and SAB where around did we remove kegbrawl? There is only 1 mini game in the game that isnt holiday specific and thats kegbrawl, i highly doubt that crab toss would destroy everything.

In every MMO there are empty older content areas sitting there, particularly multiplayer ones. The popular new areas get traffic, the old ones sit there. Anet’s solution to this is not to let stuff get old. That’s not to say crab toss can’t make a comeback one day, but I will tell you this.

With everyone off doing the new dragon stuff, you’d likely be sitting there alone anyway.

I understand the desire for permanent content, but would rather wait for it, than have permanent content on someone else’s schedule other than Anet’s.

You can’t force a company to put out content, until you want shoddy content. Content will come at it’s own rate….if you try to force the issue, it will just by crappy content.

Yes but they already made good content , Molten Weapon facility was a blast. But now its gone …….never to return rather then just exist in the game and have an explorable mode added to it.

Not to mention that there’s absolutely nothing wrong for a gaming company to cater both to hardcores and casuals. In fact, it would be a lot of a better business plan than what they have now. Having both markets play your game is better than only having one of them…

Thats the big question. Is it really better when 50% of your developer ressources are spent for maybe 5% of the playerbase .. and 50% for the other 95% .. or are these 95% kitten ed of maybe after a while because it would be so much better if they get 100% and also a chance to get some nice shinies that normally only these 5% have.

Well, when WoW started catering to the casuals, they started losing players. And by losing players, I don’t mean ‘lol, 5% left, cry babies’, no, their sales went down all across the board. So, actually, yes.

I left about a month into WotLK. Once raids were so watered down they were consistantly puggable it was time to move on. It actually started in TBC, when they started nerfing all the T4 and T5 content and removed all the entry requirements (and gave us lame titles instead…“Hand of A’dal” lol).

Naxx was easy as it was the entry raid but regardless the downfall was at TOC , as ulduar as far as I know is considered the best raid ever made in wow and in my book was.

Seriously, i enjoy this game but this whole ticket in chest things is slowly getting annoying. For two simple reasons

1- They are the best rewards out of the content

2- They are Random

Its just bothersom there is no true way to work towards them and obtain them, i wanted the southsun weapon skis (name escapes me) for my necromancer as the whole blinky eye thing fits with them but i have no way of gaining them beyond luck. There is also the time factor involved in the fact that i have to be lucky within a certain time period, its not like down the line i still have a chance at these items. Why cant they be tied to some long achievements dealing with the event that would still be around post event.

For example have the Weapon tickets also be tied to Karka Slayer in some way so that you could earn it by murdering many karkas

Or

Have chests give ticket scraps so that way after X amount of chests you get a weapon anyway.

The point is there needs to be some way to work towards the ticket beyond from random chests drops. The random chest drops of tickets should be viewed as an extra , in that you dont need to work towards a ticket anymore unless you want another and save you time.

I Take it Back, I'm sorry

Its not about payment, its moreso about the RNG odds, listen, I could take the same 1000 dollars I have spent on the real lottery, chances are, I will win at least a few dollars back or perhaps be rich and use my riches to help fund a new mmorpg more tailored to what I want.

I have yet to purchase an RNG chest and get nothing. Usually I get some mats that I sell on the TP for some decent coin. I’ve never bought one and clicked to open it and there was nothing. Maybe I’m just one of the few lucky ones.

Buy a $10 scratch off and a lot of the time you will win $2.00 – $5.00 or so and sometimes you will win a bit more. Most times if you buy scratch offs regularly you will lose more money than you win. Buy a PowerBall ticket and for that dollar you will almost always, if not always, get a piece of paper you can crumble up and put in your pocket or start a fire with or whatever else you want to do with it.

People often tend to ignore the fact that everything in the game can be bought with in game gold and technically costs you nothing but time playing a game.

Im not sure how it is in other states but at least in NJ if you buy a $10 tickets the lowest amount you can win is $10 and the higher the price of the ticket the more likely you are to get the same amount back.

As towards the main issue being the random chests, whats annoying is the weapons are the top reward for these events and it is completely random. Im sure most of us would be ok with the chests if they gave pieces of a ticket and could form a whole one after X amount, then a chance for a whole one everytime. So you eventually would get a ticket if you got enough chests or could luck out and get one early

I had a thread in the dungeon forum of designing your own raid if GW2’s was to have one. This was my idea for a GW2 Raid

Design- For design of a raid i personally wouldnt enjoy long raids, in my mind i would rather have multiple shorter ones that are part of a set. If you played wow gruuls layers was short and to the point, had 2 bosses and minimal trash and was a good example. No one enjoys difficult trash as its always unrewarding in every game, not to say it wont in gw2 but if you have ever done any dungeon before you know its the truth. Multiple little raids allow better room for pugs to form and break up time commitments and you can have a “Raid” be a set of raid dungeons allowing things to be broken up.

Loot- The key to a raid is to not load all the rewards at the end. Raids should be designed with the thought you wont complete them initially thus means each boss needs to be rewarding not just completing the whole raid is the rewarding part, not to say you cant have a bonus to completing it but it shouldnt be the bulk of rewards. In my mind and something i always wanted in WoW was rather then LFR , Normal, Heroic access better stated gear is that it should offer same stat wise gear but the higher difficulty offered more ornate gear or different looking gear.

Progression- Having progression without stat progression means resistance, im sure some dont want any gear progression but if its within the raid and only the raid then thats fine in my book. Fractals have agony resist so the new raid should require resist at higher difficulties. As to how that resist is gained is a whole other discussion . My mind there are two ways of doing this, either dropping new gear type that is equal to ascended gear in term of stats but allows a new resist infusion, making it some sort of permanent buff, or new infusions can be purchased with the new token. You also can progress this in the opposite way by having for example a weapons carry a buff specific to the dungeon that creates a debuff needed for fights and would not impact agony resist.

Difficulty- We learned from fractals that to many levels make them meaningless , the difference between 16-17 is minimal and not noticeable. The biggest noticeable difference in fractals is every 10 levels and past a certain point there is no point to progress higher in fractals. My vote would be to limit the amount of difficulties available down to 5, this adds more meaning and more challenge. Not just adding health or damage but rather mechanics. If each level of difficulty added a new mechanic to a boss this would add to the challenge in a good way rather then scaling #’s up and allows most people to do lvl 1.

Size- I always felt 10 was a good # of people but thats me, i could see 5 and i could see more then 10. But i feel personally somewhere between 7-10 is a good size, 8 may be an odd group size but its enough to allow more things to happen that cant in a small group size but not to big.

Thoughts on Raiding

I would be perfectly fine with raids as long as:

1- They do not award any items- cosmetic or spec-wise- that cannot be acquired via 5-man means.

2- They do not offer a faster way to accrue Karma, Laurels, Badges of Honor, Top-Tier crafting materials, or Fractal Relics.

3- They do not have their own tokens/currency.

4- They do not provide any extra boost to Guild Influence.

  1. and #3 is awfully restrictive , Cosmetic rewards are the life blood of the game. Those need to be a reward and having a currency of which to give said reward is also needed.

Out of all the post this is what stuck out to me.

For one there is raid content in this game beyond the temples.

As long you people have the attitude that people joining in the “open” world content and consider them to be “trolling” you are in actuality the troll.

It is up to guilds to get a core group together and maintain goals. If you do not allow people that are not in your guild to join in then this is not your game. Since this is an open world game.

Well, there’s plenty of counters to that logic (instanced dungeons, pvp, etc – I’m not asking for open-world things to be eliminated, I like that aspect too; just guild missions are not a suitable replacement for raids in my opinion). Nonetheless, the main issue there in open-world & guild missions is the mechanics in which ArenaNet implements this content. For example, even if a player just stands in the area of a guild mission, the player will scale the mission, same as any event. They will also scale a mission whether they are level cap (80) or if they are just level enough to enter the zone. There are also mechanics, such as guild bounty missions, where if a mob is attacked when it shouldn’t be (Half-baked), it can make him unkillable unless he is zerged down with a 50+ group, which in my opinion also isn’t very fun and again, makes it open to individuals trolling, whether it is intentional or not. Instanced play, available to everyone, allows for more balanced content. Again, I’m not saying open-world/guild-missions should be removed, but there’s also no reason to not exapnd upon instanced play, which already exists in a multitude of ways in GW2.

As it is due to this type of thinking the open world raiding that is already in the game is not being taken advantage of.
The last thing this game needs is more instanced gaming. This promotes elitism and segregates most of those that play the game.

This game was sold as a community focused game and instancing removes this.

It is nice you want to do raiding. Why don’t you try and see how it works beyond the temples. Anet has stated most of the DE webs are beyond the temples and that it would require a community guided effort to figure them out and to get the reward that lie there.

This game was sold as being not like the other games out there that require instanced encounters. You need to start thinking community and not the guild. In the long run the guild will end up the winner if you do

Most people consider their guilds their community, i know i do. The problem with putting many things in the open world is it sets a limit on difficulty because everyone needs to participate. Also personally in terms of community in wow my closest community was my raid team, why? Because raids are prime team building exercise . By opening things to everyone you simply cant have things to difficult or you present a whole slew of other issues especially where people can inadvertently scale things up which can make it harder for you and they arnt pulling their weight.

Instances dont remove the community, they build smaller tighter ones. Its much like how you have circles of friends. You have people you just know, friends, Close Friends / family etc you get the point. GW2 currently lacks in the close friend department because there isnt content to build those ties which is challenging content. Im not sure what everyones experience was in BC but i made lots of friends in BC, Why? Because you had to, the content was challenging enough you built a list of friends that you work well with and got along with and thus a friends list was born.

Merge Bank Slots Together allow customization

Very simple request here, let me break my bank slots how i want. That way there is no empty space except at the bottom, you can set how many slots are in the areas you create. On top of that allow you to title the areas so i can have as an example Legendary Mats,Potions, Currencies etc.

You’re still using Windows XP. Why OP, why?

Because the only alternative is 7 and I’m not sure everyone has a ton of money to throw away on upgrading their OS every year and a half M$ comes out with a new debacle?

Seriously at least get 7 though, Vista and 8 are hot water trash, avoid them like the plague.

Rule of thumb with Microsoft is just get every other OS.

If living story is to remain a thing its needs its own little bit of UI to explain things. Put it right next to the guild UI and have a living story botton.

Within said UI is two things – current living story and past living stories. Past living stories will be archived by date and contain the stories involved in those past events. On the other hand the current living story page would show what has currently progressed, what exactly is new, what has changed, directions where to go, and an other little extra helpful tidbits (for example for this one i would explain who to talk to for the buffs). In addition to all this it would also contain any of the extra story information that seems to pop up on the website so now that is in game.

I would take it a step further and simply have a whole Living Story Tab at the top. IT would contain something like the story books for past events and then a page talking about the current story, where to go to start, what activities are available and where to begin them.

Lets talk about weapon tickets

I think a discussion of weapon tickets are in order. Im sure a fair bit of us would love to get the weapon skins for the new events or wanted the past event weapon skins. However getting a ticket can be difficult and sometimes very much against you, as seen by some of those who bought lots of southsun crates to no avail. I think many would agree they dislike the ticket system is currently, on the same note ArenaNet wants to make money(who doesnt) so this can be viewed as profitable.

So how can we appease both parties ? Perhaps a few options i can see

Option 1- More Tickets- Rather then simply having 1 ticket or essentially 1 valuable item on the loot table for the crates or chest, simply provide several. Black Lion chests are starting to get that idea with adding rare backpacks, the idea here simply is you have a better chance at getting something. It just might not be the something you want, so while your disappointed its not what you want you didnt walk away with junk all the time.

Option 2- Improving odds- This falls into much in the same in how there is a gem store purchase limit, there should be a limit set on the creates. In that there should be a point where you have opened enough crates that the game goes “ok you deserve it”. The idea here would be the more you open, the higher chance it is the next crate for the goods.

Option 3- Up/Down – This is simple , decrease the drop rate of crates but increase the rewards . Or simply increase the rate but reduce chances. To use an analogy it would be like buying scratch offs and changing it to $1 ones where you can buy a lot but little chance of anything good or to a $10 one where you have a higher chance for a payout.

Anyway these are my thoughts im curious what others thinks about a change in the ticket system.

No Merits for Guild Rush and Challenge

My Guild did both guild rush and guild challenge last night and received no merits. For guild rush we completed it fairly quickly and had 15/15 very fast yet received no merits directly after we hit 15 nor once the remaining time was over.

For Guild Challenge we had the one with the Charzookas and the crystals , we all got our personal rewards for completing it yet no merits where awarded

I Both love and hate the living world video

These Living Story experiences remind me a bit of PnP role playing. From what I can make out from these living story experiences, the devs are the story tellers and the content continues to move us forward in the world Tyria.

That’s just my take on it, I never got to experience the Living Story events back in November 2012, but I think it’s totally fine because the story is still moving on and there’s so much to look forward to. Nice points from everyone.

There was no living story events till after christmas, so you missed nothing.

MY suggestion to make some worth out of them is to craft old stories into your personal story. Allow the option to skip it or not do them as they would essentially be refined/smaller versions of the event itself and they could pick up after you completed the personal story.

No new long-term content since November?

Actually Guild Missions are new permanent content. So is the PvP map they added. What you mean is new permanent content that doesn’t interest you, maybe.

I just came off doing three guild missions with my guild. We did the bounty and the trek, but we failed the rush (we were so close).

We had a lot of fun doing it, though. So to say there’s no new permanent content is misleading.

It is content not everyone is taking advantage of.

Lets Be Clear here, Bug fixes and balances changes are in no way content.
4 things have been added that is permanent in terms of content
Fractals
2 Spvp Maps
Southsun Cove (which is debatable currently its actual worth, will see over the next month)
Guild Missions
Out of the whole bunch fractals is easily the biggest and most fleshed out as it provides lots of content to work through. The spvp maps have a fair amount of use also as Spvp is in desperate need of maps. But the rest……eh , Guild missions while fun dont offer nearly the same amount of content compared to Fractals or the Spvp maps.
Im not saying im against the living story, my point really is that the living story to me seems like a waste in that things just never return. Look at the molten weapon testing facility, that was a fun dungeon. Why couldn’t that be built upon and made into a full fledged dungeon rather then be tossed on the way side? I don’t want to see things simply go to waste.
