Try a “clean installation” in your driver, it gave me so many bugs in GW2 that I always recommend that. lol
I just got crashes when: I got a high OC in my 550TI or I used less core than my processor got.
It happens in all video configurations?

Change your password to something long and secure. A password like “aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa” is long but I’d not recommend it. A password like “p@$$w0rd” might look secure, but it’s too short and too easily guessable. Make your password long AND secure, and make sure you have never used that password anywhere else. Either memorize your new password or store it somewhere, and never ever use it anywhere else or give it to anyone. Ever.

Submit a ticket for your husband and do a topic here with the ticket and the problem to help the solution to be faster. At least sometimes someone from Anet come here to see the problems, the support are taking more time than it was supposed to take.

There was a… let’s say a “problem” where people didnt received confirmation in the previous e-mail just in the new one. So if someone got into your account they could have change your e-mail without confirmation and just steal your account.

If you change your password and still happening theres something to do with your pc.

Run a antivirus
Run a spyware (better than antivirus, most problems about stolen account come from spywares and not all antivirus are actually good at catch spywares)
Run a ANTIKEYLOGGER (they can see every single thing you type)
Run a Antiscreen capture
And use “Keyscrambler” (search on google) in your webbrowser (it transform all you type into random number and letter in the cookies, caches and keylogger’s log)

Right click in the name -> Report -> Scamming?
I mean, that’s what I do everytime I see a gold seller. Anyway I KNOW that the account was probably hacked so I hope they see case by case, and not only block everyone.

I see what you are saying. If I am understanding this correctly, what the account thieves can do is this…

1. Thief gets access to email and password (very easily done if people re-use credentials from site to site).
2. Thief signs into GW2 client when valid credentials are found. Thief can’t get in due to email verification. (They could just skip this step completely.)
3. Thief signs into web site using same valid email and password used in step 1. No verification needed other than email and password.
4. Thief changes email address to an email account he can access.
5. Thief signs into the client again. This time the verification email goes to the account he has access to.

The valid owner then can’t access his account because the thief has likely changed the email and the password.

If this indeed works as described above, it renders the email verification essentially useless.

It is still up to the account owner to ensure proper seccurity if his own GW2 credentials, but if any kinds of safeguards are going to be added then they shouldn’t have holes like what’s described above, assuming those steps are correct.

Oh geez, this is what the op originally stated. This is what I get for skimming through posts and not reading them in their entirety.

1. Thief uses aquired e-mail/password to log into GW2’s website.
2. Thief clicks on ‘my account’ to bring up the account information.
3. Thief clicks inside the ‘change account login/e-mail’ box and types in new e-mail.
4a. Thief instantly recieves the ‘confirmation’ e-mail in the e-mail they just entered into the website.
4b. Victom gets a ‘hey! someone just changed your account information! your screwed if it wasnt you!’ message.
5. Thief clicks the link and ‘confirms’
6. Thief now has 100% controle of the account without ever launching the client.
7. Thief logs into the patcher and clicks the little grey button to ‘re-confirm’ the new e-mail.
8. Thief logs in and does whatever the gold-farming SOB’s do.

And just to add, if we got a e-mail confirmation in the previous e-mail not the new one, assuming the e-mail password are not the same as the game or even better assuming the e-mail got two ways authentications like mine wich requires my cellphone to confirm the log in (gmail), its nearly impossible for someone to STEAL a account, because even if the cracker have change my password I can get another one using my e-mail that he could never enter no matter what. (just if he steal my cellphone too lol)
Then we get a system that actually works. The ip will block the entrance into the game, the two ways authetication will block into the e-mail and the confirmation e-mail will block them to steal someone’s account.

So in this case the only possible ways I know is using remote access to enter in game using someone’s account ON someone’s PC (to use the IP) or invade someone’s Internet (to use the IP), and even that way he could only get into the game to mess up there, but not make you lose your account. lol That way a cracker will lose so much time that will not worth at all.

Correct, it’s is not ArenaNet’s fault when people re-use login credentials they have used elsewhere, and the op admits his wife did that. There is nothing at all ArenaNet can do about such decisions.

However, yes they could improve the security around the ability for someone else to change someone’s email or password after they have discovered the login credentials.

If Arena Net care so much for security for sure they would have a confirmation e-mail like even FREE SERVICES HAVE and work better than GW2 security.
His wife was wrong to use the same credentials, but give us a IP authentication and not a e-mail confirmation change just do not make sense, that’s all.
You cant get in the account but you can steal the account and THEN you can get in the account. AWESOME, if that’s what you think, ok.

The problem as I see it is that warriors probably have the lowest skill floor, meaning it takes less skill for a warrior to perform at the same level as other professions. This leads to a lot of people using warriors in sPvP and other professions then perceiving it as an OP profession.

I know what you are saying but remember that warrior need like 3 utility skills at same time to perform this damage. One of them make war take 50%+ damage while doing, war can get another one to not get dmg for 4 or 5 seconds but them still can get knocked down, etc.
IF warrior fail in deliver the atk he will probably be dead or will need to run a lot until cooldown. lol
Its really hard for example to get a mesmer this way.

sword + rifle with a bleed build can do way more damage without sacrifice yourself in “all or nothing”, the same for critical build with axes.

If they can implement race change I dont see why not. I mean it will not affect anyone, just the guy who have changed lol

First of all, if you do not know how to dodge or use skill that get you from the way in the right time its not any warrior’s fault. Warrior already got nerfed since betas, I would say them are a bit underpower compared with some build of another classes like guardian, necros and mesmer. But that’s what I think, not the “truth”.

No crash at all… Just when I use less cores than my processor have, it crashes after 5 minutes playing or less. Using all the cores still ok.
Try to update your driver in a “clean install” or try to get modified driver (for me it worked about low fps)… I do not really know what to say to help, theres so many variables lol But its a optimization problem of course, anyway we need to find a way to play, right?

If you lose access to your email account because you change ISPs, or for any other reason, and you want to change your GW2 email, and ArenaNet decides you have to confirm the change at your old email address, you won’t be able to change it. Not every site requires that you have access to your current email address if you want to change that address within the site.

If you are loose with your password, or if you keep using the same login credentials that you have used elsewhere, or if you share your account with others, or if you have malware on your pc, that’s not ArenaNet’s fault.

It is, that’s why support exist. If you do not have access to your old e-mail you can use a ticket and search for help. You can give your key number, the name and last you used in the registration of the key, a name of a character, your last e-mail, the name of your account (your forum name too) and the new e-mail you wanna trade for.
Do not have a confirmation e-mail when you change your e-mail is one of the worst security ways I ever seen.

Dude, I ONLY got a crash in the game when I overclocked my processor and was using less cores than it have
I mean, I got the fx-6100 to 4.3 with 2 cores, and it just crash, it crashed with 4 cores too. Just do not when I use all 6.

For me it worked. I got a GTX 550 TI and I can get 4x+ fps with everything on max but average stay at 2x to 3x
I used to get 9 to 15 fps in the 3 days of headstart. lol

Well, in the first 3 days I was getting like 9 to 15 fps in the option how auto choose settings. In the minimum I was getting the same, in the max I was getting the same too.

I was thinking it have to do with my processor fx-6100, then I overclocked it from 3.3 to 4.0 GHZ. (using less cores) Nothing have changed LOL

I installed a new nvidia driver, and got some more fps, but nothing more than 19.

Then I got Xtreme-G 305.68 driver version. I installed it, and it gave me a weird bug in the game lol Because I just forgotten to use “clean install”, after the clean install it worked, now I get 5x – 6x+ in minimum, 3x – 4x in automatic settings and 2x – 3x+ in every single thing on max. Still a bit low since I can run max payne 3 with dx11 with almost everything on max without lag (my card have only 1024MB so I cant max out everything), but well its better than before. (Just to be clear that’s the average, sometimes I get higher fps, that 2x – 3x for example is just the number it stay most part of time, and yeah I played a day with my option opened to see. lolz)

It worked for me and I hope work for you guys too, I use GTX 550 TI EVGA GDDR5
You can get a few more FPS overclocking your card. Like 3-6 more fps for me at least.

He can change my password, but when he changes my e-mail he will take my account.

I think it’s neccessary for Arena.net model. The problem is I think you’re looking at or demanding thing at an incorect angle.

As people play the game for the next few months and years, eventually people will have a lot of money. The Real Money <—> Gems relationship obviously can not change, for example Arena.net can’t make a policy where they say: depend on the in game market, we will charge $5 for 300gems today, and it will be changed to $8 for 300gems tomorrow. Neither they can alter the cost of the gems shop price like this item will cost 500 gems today and cost 800 gems tomorrow. This mean without some constraint, eventually you will see the gem is so cheap that nobody will bother to buy gems with real money (bad for Arenanet) or too expensive that cause people buying gems with real money and convert to gold (creating massive inflation, which can’t be a good thing).

Another argument is that the majority of in game gold are also black box generated vendor. When you loot a mob, the items you got wasn’t created using some finite resource pool in the game. When you vendor that item, the gold being paid to you weren’t withdraw from the finite bank. So there have to be a control to limit inflation.

Yes, the policy does favor Arenanet but that’s for obvious (and not unreasonable reason). This is not a stock market, so you can’t demand or liken it to one, it’s not a free for all environment. It’s a great alternative option and as far as I can see, nothing yet is unreasonable. Maybe that’s exactly what it’s meant to be, an alternative to the cash shop for people who can play more and want to pay less, not as a mean for a “get rich quick” scheme. Also the disparity between the 2 conversion rate is for a very obvious that I’ve mentioned so far, in case you can’t see it, again, it’s to limit inflation.

The most correct for me would be a price set by the player. It can create inflation but the game itself has so many ways to take out in game gold from the player that I do not think a apocaliptic inflation will happens. lol
In Perfect World for example you put the price you want for your cash (zen), not only for the itens you buy in the cash (you can sell them in the streets and auction) but for the cash (zen) itself. From what I know, theres no company’s control in the prices. The prices are always ok, I never ever seen a giant inflation. It worth to change cash for gold there, and its worth to change gold for cash. It’s just supply and demand…
By the way I know theres variables we do not have here, like most people there NEED gold to keep upgrading and buying their armors and weapons with a high chance of failure, and things like that wich make them do not keep so much in game gold for example.

Well, ANet will not earn anything from gold to gem conversion. So posting codes to be buyable as gems is not an option… unless they create a new type of gem, say a red gem, which is only acquirable by converting real-world money to red gems.

I mean, people will eventually get 100gold and who knows how richer more. Convert those to gems, buy an account, and then how can ANet convert that to real-world money?

That’s probably the reason why the Gold to Gem conversion isn’t tied-in to Gem to Gold conversion just like how it is in the real-world setting where one currency to another currency conversion rate is two-way the same.

You can buy GEMS with IN GAME GOLD IF someone got GEMS with REAL MONEY and is selling it for IN GAME GOLD.
Gems dont create itself nor are drops, nor can be get playing the game, so someone used real money to get the gem.
If the “serial code” worth like 50.000 gems for example, someone got that 50.000 gems with REAL MONEY and then he’s putting theses gems for sale to get in game gold, then you buy it with your in game gold. What Arena get from that? the price of the 5000 gems someone payed.
It didnt came from nowhere.

I must admit it have been ArenaNet mistake to not explain really well, and even maybe a excuse to put some itens in the gem store (aka black lion trading post). They have talked like it was a revolution “You can get gems with in game gold! So you will not need to spend real money”……… Duh, come on, lot of games have made that and this never meant a balanced economy nor a “non pay for advantage”.
I’m not saying its bad, in fact its great and really better then GW was, im just saying they need to explain better that someone is actually paying for the gems, there’s no pool of infinity gem where people get with in game gold. That’s what I know from what I read, but maybe I’m wrong and you’re right.

EDIT: From what I have read too, the Gems economy are not driven exactly by the players. It looks like they use a automatic system wich is kinda bad and people who use real money and trade gems for gold get a lower amount of gold lol

No no, its looks like a problem and if it is, need be solved. We do not need to “deal with” it… It’s not good this way compared to another race’s elite skills.

WvWvW is pvp and its competitive, so it needs at least some balance. I’m not saying all racial will be balanced but make some of them so useless at this point is really bad. Norn could do better turning into a rat and havind boost in speed. LOL
They havent made a “perfect” game, and since the betas so many things have changed but so many thing havent been tested too much. The norn racial elites was one of them.

We get gems with gold because someone got gems with MONEY so the game is payed, and IF that someone is selling its because he want in game gold. Why? I dont care at all, everyone have their reasons.

Are you sure? From what I know you can get boons/boost for regen, +atk, take less damage, and be faster and it can be used in WvWvW wich is a open PVP, and then we have a pay for advantage here.
Correct me if I’m wrong, I didnt tested yet, but in betas theses boosts was working on WvWvW. If its still then you will face a enemy with like 10% more atk taking 10% less damage and regen him self, is that fair?

Do not forget to see the IP of the e-mail if possible. (search for advanced option, or something like that and search “received from:” “sent from:” etc)
You can mask your e-mail with anything you want, so you can receive a fake mail masked as a real. It’s called “SPOOFING”…
You can even receive e-mail from yourself… lol
Some e-mail providers do not give the sender IP, like google, SO is better to keep your eyes open to see if the e-mail you get its real.

By the way thanks for the info, it have to do with Anet because I’m sure theres lot of people who use the same credentials in GW2 AND Battle.net

I mean, every single “thing” that give you the option to change your e-mail send a confirmation mail to your previous mail, not the new.
Well I’m sure they know this already and will do something about. (I hope)

Theres so many ways to create a better security, first of all:

1- Make a confirmation for previous e-mail when you try to change your e-mail. ]

2- If you lost your e-mail for some reason and cant confirm the change, you can use the support to use your key, name that you used in creation of the account/registration of cd key (remember that we used real names and last names with the keys?) plus a name of one character so you can change your e-mail without confirmation.

3- Use a PC confirmation not a IP (hotmail and STOnline have done that), IP changes everytime and not so many have a REAL static IP. It can last long but its not static.
You can use PC confirmation to enter in the game and web site.
They could even use both, IP and PC, for more security.

4- Keygen like another games have made

5- Cellphone confirmation, like korean games have and some e-mails (google for example)

If you are changing your password and still getting this issue the problem for sure have to do with your PC.

Try to see if you got a keylogger or something like that (it can see every single thing you type).
Try to scan against spywares. (Not all antivirus are that good agaisnt spywares)
Try to see with your are not getting a remote acess by some program.
Use a program “KeyScrambler” in your IE, mozzila, etc while changing your password and when you got into your account by your web browser. (it will transform all you type into random letters and numbers for keyloggers or any info stored into the computer, like “caches”, “cookie”)

If all that you still getting the problem I recomend you to search a specialized forum about PC’s protection (lot of them help for free to remove virus, spywares, etc)
There’s great programs like hjack and combofix wich when used together help to eliminate almost anything BUT you need help to use these kind of program or you can mess your computer.

If you think theres a wierd file you can scan it through LOT of antivirus for free, online here: “virustotal.com”
Just send them your file and get the results, its automatic, will not be someone seeing what you send.

Ok, so we can allow a IP to enter in our account. But theres a problem:

How can I see ALL the ip’s allowed?

How can I block a IP that I allowed already?

I’m asking that same question with another account in GW2’s support for weeks and just got the same “basic” info. It’s like no one even read what I said.

For example, the problem I got in another account:
I got a account “x” and “y”

In account “x”: After the security update, in the first login, the game account “x” didnt asked me to confirm a new ip access, since that one was the ip I was using for a long time. And now every another ip who try to enter in account “x” get the message to confirm (except mine, of course). So it’s all okay, it’s working the way it should, right?

In Account “y”: After the security update, in the first login, the game account “y” asked me to confirm my IP BUT I havent changed the ip for like a month or more, and I always got in the account with that ip (except for the beta weekend). So why it asked me to confirm and the another one didnt?
Does that mean someone else got on my account first than I, after the security update, and then the invasor ip was marked as allowed without being asked to confirm?

All I was asking in the support was for a list of allowed ip access in the “y” account, and they came with ways for me to block the account e-mail confirmation or to retrieve a stolen account. lol
I understand its nearly impossible to see all the problems and read all the support tickets.

But can someone please tell me, theres a way to see the allowed IP’s? If not, can it be implemented? If not, can you guys from arena net give me the IP list with what IP’s got access in my “y” account?

PS: I know I can see the IP who asked in my mails, since it ask to confirm, BUT in my case, when it just didnt asked in your first login after update, how can I know?

Is this normal? It happened to you guys too?
If yes please tell me, and I’ll ask to close the thread.

It’s simple, like in GW. A makeover.
Why not a character makeover? That’s not about change the race or personal story, just to change your look/appearance or maybe sex (extreme makeover)

For sure you would have tons of people getting this, because I KNOW theres people like myself who want to change their characters now or want at least know theres a way to change later.
