Server imbalance is your choice, you can transfer to a comfy tier any time you like. Nightcapping with no resistance, a strong EU presence to counter, NA wild times etc etc are just part of the game.
In my humble experience the ride up for a server has always been way more fun than the “balanced” tiers where everything just sits into meta after meta after meta.
I don’t think there should ever be any attention given to “balancing” the servers. Take DB for example, those guys have risen, been beaten down and risen again so many times you could name a Batman movie after them. Do you think they aren’t enjoying their current rise now as compared to being endlessly locked with two other “equal” servers?
Look at how YB destroyed the entire old game meta to take a well earned place at the top. They did it through pure force of will and a strong server community. Love them or hate them, they rolled over you to get where they are.
The very volatility of this game mode is one of the best things about it.

YB became a bandwagon server thats why they rose up, and the only reason they are winning is because of what hot did to wvw in driving players away, causing people to play less, or just taking a break altogether. Hell JQ barely shows up at all anymore, some kind of boycott or something lol idk. People on BG and JQ dont want to burn themselves out playing for PPT during a meaningless week, there is no point to griding PPT unless there is a tournament or for fear of dropping tiers. Nobody enjoys fighting that garbage server and their endless bunkering and siegecreeep.
DB is a little different, they always rose up because they became a bandwagon destination, but eventually would fall for a variety of reasons, internal server issues, full status due to old server population calculation. But they always had a strong OCX/SEA which kept them from plummeting down to the lower tiers, so they would basically roller coaster over and over. But since the new server status is based on activity and not overall population DB is a lot more stable and has been able to attract more guilds to rise up.
Every account has the exact same chance on RNG.
No offense, but I will never believe that for a second. Ive played a lot for over 3 years in every gamemode and I have never once gotten a single precursor drop from any source. At the same time I have known people who have been able to forge dozens literally dozens some over 100 precursors, one person got a precursor their first week. Meanwhile I am still at 0 because of RNG in over 3 years, so you will excuse me for not believing you.
Desert bl can go to hell for all I care, that and all the other garbage they added with hot ruined wvw and destroyed my desire for it. I only do wvw now because I want to play with my guild, there is little personal desire like before where I would want to jump in anytime I was online. I cannot contain my disgust for anet and what they did.
I don’t like the idea of a flat map, flat areas definitely but not the entire map, there needs to be some kind of diversity. The problem is the desert bl went to an extreme with that idea with the verticality bs, it feels like I’m going through a maze plus jumping puzzle. The alpine bl had some flaws with the layout but it was better designed for more strategic and key word FUN fights, the desert bl is not.
-Bring Back Alpine Map
-Get rid of Oasis event, the lag has gotten worse since you “fixed” it
-Revert Change to waypoints, they should be built not automatic
-The gimmicky garbage they added needs to be removed or heavily nerfed
-Nerf siege use against players, enough of the kitten siege wars and siegehumping cancer
-Create a wvw reward track, not progressable in eotm
-Change scoring system to award points on cap (PPC) based on upgrade tier of objective taken. Make PPT reflect the tiers of objectives, paper t1 keeps should not give the same PPC and PPT as an upgraded t3 keep.
For Example: Capping or Holding a keep would score like this
t1 keep-10points
t2 keep-15points
t3 keep-25points
As someone who is personally fights oriented, I like ppk. What I would like changed is for kills with siege to not count for it, because siegehumping needs to be nerfed not encouraged, its a plague and ruins wvw.
I think it would be better if siege damage against players was heavily decreased in favor of siege being more focused on causing aoe condi/CC. Implementing what you’re asking for sounds far more difficult in terms of coding.
I think ac’s for example should have their damage against players reduced by like 50% but against siege increased, there should be a reduction in the amount of players that can be hit per skill 50 is ridiculous, more supply required for each, and an actual siege cap per raidus that actually works. There are already condi/cc skills for siege, and theres to much of that crap going on in regular skills anyways.
But anyways, one person being able to build an ac thats out of hittable range that can technically hit an entire zerg with skills that effect 50 people is absolutely ridiculous and counter productive to things like ppk and the new rez changes. Abusing siege does not promote healthy gameplay.

Thats some pretty bad hacking there, we have an issue on BG with a YB ranger constantly, and I mean constantly all day every day contesting eb keep and trash talking anyone who kills him. And no matter how many times he gets killed he just comes back over and over, and hes been doing this for a very long time.

Would it be appropriate to complain here about how easy it is for stealth classes to go undetected in the wide expanses of WvW? Or about how stealth is much more powerful than in PvP since capping points isn’t the focus? Can I ask about rebalancing stealth classes to have less stealth than PvP but better direct combat or something in return?

If you want to discuss stealth as a mechanic and how it fits into the game, you will want to post in the general discussion forum. If its about how stealth fits into pvp, the pvp section. If its about how it fits in wvw, then yes this section. If its about stealth and a certain profession, then post in that professions individual section.
Yep…it was annoying before hot. But hot just made a mess of waypoints. Whats ironic is one person tapping a guard will consistently contest a keep, but 2 zergs fighting inside it, wont…gg anet.
The whole waypoint being available immediately change needs to be removed completely and building waypoints should be part of an upgrade. Hell you cant even use the waypoints on fire/air keeps on your own bl, but it becomes instantly available to your enemies…gg anet.
Not to mention emergency waypoints being part of guild upgrades….What a godkitten ed mess. Its broken, and any guild that doesnt have it build and put on a claimed keep puts your side at a disadvantage now since you cant port in between contests. And then if its on public activation, someone pulls it to early, well your kittened again…gg anet.

Overall? Most of the time YB does sit on siege and backcaps, avoiding fights in my experience, of course there are some on YB who don’t but its been the complaint of every server coming up against YB from T4 to T1, they can’t all be misconstruing how YB play.

With JQ and BG its not the majority of the server, its not part of their server culture.

It was your server becoming a bandwagon destination, and guilds who transfered (and many who left because of your playstyle) that brought up yb, not your cancerous playstyle of siegecreep, bunkering, and pvd.
And heres another reality check, remember before hot how yb was dead last every week. You guys winning is more due to hot driving players away, and lowering players interest in the playing on the new map/or for ppt.

I think the old “Hibergate” nickname still applies to BG. They can come out pretty strong when they want to (reset, etc.). JQ has a pretty similar thing going, but are a bit more PuG oriented from the groups I see out there. YB of course has their sieging and PPT ways. I don’t see as much action on the BL’s many days from JQ and BG (BL hate, ded game, insert other reasons here) compared to YB so that would knock off some potential points from them as well.
Some groups from BG, TC, and JQ moved to YB last year and it got pushed up into T1. Some moved back to their home servers, others to new servers, some are still there.
BG is still pretty active, definitely not as much as before, but most every server has taken a population hit with HoT (and even before).
Thats more or less accurate, HoT has definately been rough for wvw in terms of its effect on population, many players not just on BG but gamewide have stopped playing the gw altogether, some are not as active, some are just taking a break until the overhaul/ new content/ seasons etc.

Many on BG and JQ dont care about winning and PPT. We come for fights, because winning and ppt are meaningless. Yaks bend is kittenous garbage server that does nothing but pvd and siegehump. If there was anything on the line, like a tournament I can assure you BG and JQ would be out in force and YB would be crushed.

You might want to consider celestial, and an energy sigil is always nice, the rune will depend on you if you want a more offensive/defensive boost.
Well it will depend on your playstyle. Do you want to run in a zerg frontline or backline, or are you interested in roaming. Do you run with a guild, some guilds will ask people to run specific builds etc. Bunker is a defensive set, zerker is offensive. So it will depend on how you want to play.
Zerker and bunker don’t work together. Zerker gear is used more for backline. If your looking for a bunker set, you might want to check out some of the new stats that came out with HoT, you will also need to own HoT to be able to acquire/craft the new armors, runes, sigils.
But like always it will depend on what your playstyle is, and what your trying to use your toon for.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be reversed. The problem with the change was there was no attention paid to balance whatsoever regarding cc’s. It was a change designed around pvp and not suitable for large scale fights. CC’s are out of control and unbalanced therefore stab stacks are instantly stripped in many cases. Anet has a kitten for cc’s, its a lazy way of making content seem hard, or making players seem skilled.
Unless cc’s are brought into line (yea right), or stab is more accessible (probably the better alternative) its going to continue to be like this.

As someone who spent 22 months on SoR.. I feel your pain when it comes to being stuck in imbalanced matchups because of glicko. I was on SoR as it reached t1 and through its fall to t8. Watched it get screwed over in 3 tournaments, with 3 exodus’ that followed. Tried everything I could along with others to help, but heck somethings are just out of our control. Glicko is just a wierd system…you win you can drop, you lose you can rise :/

Gliding is just…no, it doesnt belong in wvw. I think people are just romanticizing the concept based on something they did in other games. To even make gliding in wvw possible, they would have to redesign the maps, add these no-fly zones to prevent flying into and out of keeps, and prevent the use of gliding in combat to prevent players from being able to fly away, which would just ruin fights. Not to mention the unfair advantage it would give to ranged players, who would only be able to hit players that are gliding, which means more gimmicks, and hell no to that. These restrictions, while necessary would just make it nothing more then a useless novelty.
That is true too, after my post… I was thinking about the differences between the HoT and the non HoT players. it would put them at a huge disadvantage. I am mostly just trying to get some wheels turning in players minds to see what they can come up with.
Ive said for a long time as well, that there needs to be wvw specific progression that expands on the exisiting rank/wxp system. Things like a reward track system similar to pvp that can only be progressed in wvw not eotm and only when earning wxp. It would be nice to have a wvw specific mastery line, but there is always a question of whether it gives an unfair advantage. Perhaps if it included more qol features like a wvw version of autoloot that can only be progressed in wvw, therefore it wouldnt force people to grind pve and hence would keep pve/wvw progression seperate. So little things like that would be nice qol additions specific for the gamemode but wouldnt give any actual advantage over other players.
There are some practice dummies in the starting area in silverwastes you can use, it might help you. Other then that, just use it normally and compare.

I wouldn’t mind reading about it, thanks in advance.As I mentioned previously, I don’t want to name the guilds because I have friends in these guilds and don’t want any of them to be removed from the testing cohort, etc. However, I hear directly from these friends that their guild leaders or someone in their guild has been approached about doing such a thing. They’re reliable sources and I’d hate for them to stop telling me these things because then their guilds wouldn’t get these opportunities. One of the guys I know in the PvE guild plays WvW quite regularly, so I’m hoping that at least that gives us a glimmer of hope, but still… the fact that he’s getting in because of PvE and not because of the numerous WvW guilds he is or has been in astounds me.

PvP doesnt have gear tiers. Its all equal and standardized. The stats revolve around the amulet, sigils, runes, and traits you choose. Make sure you setup your build. You wont be able to test the difference between asc and exotic in pvp, and the infusions do not work in pvp either.

The lag is the worst problem with this stupid pve event, it got worse after they…“upgraded” their servers, which means their kmart servers are now walmart servers, or vice versa…

Desert map can go to hell for all I care, its a map full of gimmicky garbage. The alpine map needs to return and could use some fixes before it does, like fixing spawn areas to not allow siege use.

Apparently it was initially included in wvw, but had to be removed because it was causing issues..
People get frustrated that all their efforts to keep ppt up, upgrade and defend etc, goes all to waste during off hours because an enemy server can ktrain and paper everything and easily tick over 400 with little effort. It turns people away from playing for ppt and focus just on fights, which will create friction in a server, and can sometimes lead to server falls/exodus’
Personally I find ppt meaningless and a waste of time, unless your trying to stay in a tier. I didnt always feel this way, but things like nightcapping killed any desire I had to play for ppt. Now that doesnt mean I blame people who play in other timezones, thats simply ridiculous, they dont deserve any blame for logging in to play, its not their fault that their is little competition from the opposing servers.
The problem lies more with the scoring system. Why is capping/holding a fully upgraded or a paper objective worth the same in points? It makes no sense, more effort should bring about more reward for your server. They did a good thing by permanently implementing PPK, but the effect is not enough enough. There needs to be a complete overhaul of the scoring system.
For example a keep, regardless of upgrades contributes 25 points to the tick.
What if, just as an example it were changed to:
t1-5points
t2-15points
t3-25 points
And capturing a keep would give an immediate point bonus to the server, depending on the keeps upgrade tier.
So just an example, but anyways, if the scoring system were more balanced and actually rewarded effort, it would make things more fair for people across timezones.
Like others have mentioned, I think a good idea..if technically and practically possible would be to add a short icd for stability stacks, so they cant just all be instantly removed, unless its through boon removal. With anet’s legendary obsession with cc’s, stability is sometimes useless in large fights now, the long cd’s, lack of access, short durations, and low stacks doesnt help.

The scaling is pretty crazy, some of the keep lords take longer then world bosses to take down with a full map blob. I think, if it isn’t already, the scaling should only be affected by one side, either defender or attacker. But it definitely does need some tweaking.
Outnumbered is not a BUFF, it is an effect that serves two primary purposes. To encourage players to stay on a map even when they dont have enough players, and to signal when their side has less players.
Enemies cannot see when you are outnumbered anymore, and why should they not get rewarded ppk simply because you have less on a map. What if you have 3 blobs on 3 other maps, and one map is outnumbered, that would be unfair and impractical.
That is how I understood this siege cap around players is supposed to function, but the sheer amount of siege I see ppl being able to build right next to each other makes me think something is bugged with it.
Normally I would say, well its always bad on reset, but it has been bad for days. Even when we are the only ones around the oasis or on the map with no enemies in sight it has gotten much worse…
I thought there was supposed to be one that affected like a 1000 range or something. I know about the map cap Ive seen that, but what about the actual siege cap around you?

From the livestream, Corpening mentioned new server equipment or something that was supposed to help the lag situation especially regarding the oasis event. Yeaaaa well its not working, in fact the lag has gotten about 10 times worse, didnt even think it was possible. Rubberbanding, skilllag, total lockdown, game freezes, you name it, its happening.
Well with the amount of dolyaks it takes now to upgrade, 20/40/80, defending on the bl will be a lot harder with the increased time it takes.
This is a feature, the waypoints on the east/west keeps on your home bl cannot be used by the home server… on their home map…it appears automatically for the enemy servers when they cap it and they can use it freely. But if the home team captures it, the waypoint will stay contested and thus unusable.

They could just, oh idk this might sound insane anet, but maybe update the drops and rewards? Now I know, how dare anyone suggest we get anything useful because after all its not a gamemode where there are 200 of us going map to map auto attacking a single target for a few minutes, but hey maybe someday we can actually get sand from the desert…you never know.
