It is amazing what they consider intentional trolling and reportable behavior, regarding some idiot talking about a movie in map chat who could just be blocked or turned off. But of course when it comes to wvw and some kitten deciding to troll an entire server and nothing that we can do about it….No, they cant do anything, they aren’t breaking rules, its not blah blah blah…its really pathetic sometimes…
Id rarely recommend t1 for solo roaming, its all blobs or guild gank squads that run the cheesiest builds imaginable gank & stealth. The problem now is people are moving up to higher tiers especially t1 trying to find more action because all tiers are losing players due to anets actions. So its kind of a lose/lose situation, its more active here, but its less likely as a solo roamer you will enjoy it, but then again lower tiers are not in a healthy state atm.
EB is generally the only map to get a queue, because…well the new map sucks and ppl are ignoring it for a variety of reasons and choose to just go to EB, so your more likely gonna be stuck on the new bl, which many complain is very difficult to find other roamers to fight, due to layout and features that make it easier to avoid fights, like the sentry enemy spotting.
A long time ago anet decided to add some more deviations into the ratings system to produce different matchups. What resulted was imbalanced matchups every week. I was on SoR at the time, we were in t1 and would get rolled into a matchup with 2 t2 servers, it was basically a dead ktrain week, we scored over 480k one week. After several weeks of imbalanced matchups anet quickly went back to the old system.
Basically player action is really the only way to have different matchups.
WvW is a giant mess right now, and there is a lot of frustration going on. Many people have stopped playing, are taking breaks, or have to grind pve for guild hall stuff to re-unlock buffs/features they already had unlocked before HoT.
The rumors about alliances, have already been called out as bs, but with anet and wvw…hell we never know, so the rumor persists.
Also the Mordremoth you fight in the story, is not the actual dragon, its just an avatar copied straight from Diablo 3 lol. You have to do the meta event in Dragon’s Stand to see the real one…and its huge. The mountain spines refers to Kralkatorrik.
You should state what your preferred play style is, and what timezone your active in
Whats really stupid is the story achievements all reward the same thing…a maruaders amulet kitten . Not that I have a problem with the stat, but why is it all the same for each episode. Why not have one of them reward a ring/accessory with chooseable stats. No…wait that makes to much sense…
Its garbage right now, a complete and total mess.
-The New map is a giant jumping puzzle/maze with countless deadends. The verticality and levels kitten off many people including me because it makes navigation difficult, especially when trying to run to fights. This has also caused many to simply play on EB abandoning the bl’s and therefore ignoring ppt, and those decreasing numbers that choose to keep playing wvw are basically just coming for fights.
-To many bugs, glitches, exploits that anet simply does not care about fixing. The frustration is through the roof with many of us, and anet simply continues ignoring the problems while promising us grand changes.
-They added so much gimmicky garbage and pve to wvw its truly unbelievable. Kill dinosaurs to power a lazer that hits every keep gate on the new map…good call anet. Oh don’t forget everyone starts lagging like crazy while this event is going on. Its so bad that players will simply leave the map or stop fighting and wait till the event is over. Banners are easily abused, overpowered, and unbalanced etc etc. All the gimmicks they added favor defense, which creates an imbalance between offense and defense. Offense is essential in wvw to keep ppt going. Making offense more and more harder and frustrating, and guess what people will just say screw it, I’m just gonna play for fights.
- Too much guild stuff has been gated behind grind and gold walls. Features that a guild had previously unlocked before HoT, now have to be unlocked again. And the unlocks have a ridiculous pricetag. Level 37 guild hall just to get a +5 for example. Small guilds are essentially screwed over, and wont have access to buffs they already had unlocked before HoT. Its just a giant gold sink, that requires grinding tons of pve.
-Balance has been nonexistant for so long, anet has basically just thrown that word around so much its lost all meaning because there has been no real action to back it up.
-Anet has essentially been promoting a very unpopular gamestyle called “pirate-shipping” which started months ago with the stability nerfs. This is essentially where enemy groups just range each other. Combine that with condition damage buffs, out of control damage from skills, spammable CC’s, it creates a very boring and not very fun game. On top of that you have no attention given to siege damage, so people will constantly bunker up and hump siege like ac’s all day long.
Those things are just part of the problem, believe it or not there’s more. Thats how bad anet screwed up, and that’s how amazingly ignorant they are. But its ok, they have metrics.
I wouldn’t even mind the size, its the veriticality and layers that bug me. I don’t want to feel like I’m going through a kitten jumping puzzle and maze that takes me forever to run somewhere just to find its a dead-end or the edge of a cliff.
Its a bird, its a plane…
That must have been some sight, maybe the dinosaurs arent happy with the new bl either and want to move to EB as well
!!! You just sent a chill down my spine… you say that in jest, but what if it actually happens???
You just wait…
EB doesn’t need to be changed or turned off. People flock there because they don’t like the new map for a variety of reasons. If you like the new map, that’s great go nuts nobody’s stopping you. Some people prefer zerging, why should they have to sacrifice their play style because you feel its less significant, or less fun, or w/e than what you choose to do. What if I posted that everything you liked should be discouraged or removed, would that make sense to you?
I still say the rez changes need to be tested first, the other changes mentioned in this preview were/are in the game already and therefore anet has feedback and known issues regarding them. The rez changes are the only ones to never have been tested. I strongly recommend implementing it for a week or two as a testing period then monitoring feedback to see how a more permanent implementation can be accomplished.

I have full pact mastery which is supposed to give a 33% boost in cities, and thought I was running a little slow, so I tested it out a little while ago with swiftness. When the swiftness wore off I slowed down by a lot, instead of running at a consistent rate.

WvW rewards has always been a tricky thing to sort out. Many are afraid to have it improved to much for fear of people focusing on farming and taking up spots on the map. At the same time wvw has been a giant gold sink if you want to stay competitive, gear tiers matter unlike pvp, food/utilities some of which can be very expensive especially since its constantly used, siege consumption etc etc.
I have been a supporter of wvw reward tracks but it should only have rewards that are specifically usable for wvw, like siege, commonly used food, ascended mats/craft mats commonly used, etc. And it should only be progressed when earning wxp and only in wvw, not eotm. This would help make wvw more rewarding for players and help reduce gold costs while also making it less common to have to farm pve maps, because not everyone is into that. While also deterring farming.I disagree. Reward tracks should be tied to game mode contribution beyond just killing other players, like what is done in sPvP. Additionally rewards should not be reduced to stuff specifically usable for WvW. That is completely contrary to what was done with sPvP rewards because players who spent the majority of their time doing sPvP were punished in the way of having no level 80 characters, having no dungeon tokens, having no path to craft ascended or legendaries. Stop punishing WvW players for playing WvW.
One of the main reasons I believe WvW rewards tracks should be tied specifically to wvw is because like I stated many people worry about having players coming to wvw simply to farm rewards, by making it tied specifically to help wvw players with mode specific rewards it would benefit the wvw playerbase and limit excess farming. PvP is different because its not dependant on gear tiers, food, or levels, therefore those rewards are rightfully varied. Badges of honor can already be used to get exotics, and I said that ascended mats should be tied to wvw reward tracks, tomes can be added as well. I only offered examples.

Its basically because balance has been nonexistant for months now
I think the only way to deal with nightcapping is to change the scoring system completely. And well lets be honest its needs an overhaul anyways. With PPK being turned on that should bring scores more closer. Changing it to diminish the contributions of players from another timezone is not a positive step, as someone who is on a server with many sea/ocx players I would never want them to feel as though they are being marginalized because they play their hearts out for our server.
We are growing and wrecking everything in our path, if you like guilds that are focused on community and love to joke around and focus on having fun, check us out in BG WvW

bumping, because still bugged, primarily in frostgorge, very annoying bug. This also coincides with another bug where things are not where they appear on the screen, they are glitched to appear in one place, but actually are in another. Sometimes relogging makes my toon stuck under the terrain.
bumping, because still bugged
I think another solution to the rez change would be to have a type of “defeated penalty” on players similar to how their is a downed penalty. This would prevent rezzes in time increments, for example a fully dead player can be rezzed normally the first time they die, then only after a minute the second time etc etc. Preventing any kind of rez during a fight is to restrictive a barrier, even though I would find this very helpful because I am constantly fighting brainless blobs that just quick rez their dead, this change would just be to much of a barrier.
-Automatic upgrades are a giant can of worms, the concept while it looks good on paper (but then again what doesn’t) will not bring enough balance simply by delaying them based on how many endlessly re-spawning dolyaks can be killed. The problem is there is no human interaction needed to PROGRESS the upgrade, something should be needed to start and progress the upgrade along with using dolyaks. Simply saying enemies can delay upgrades by killing dolyaks does not bring about a balance, it still gives to much for to little to the defenders/objective owners. In the past, people actually went out and escorted/sped up dolyaks, and even with this change they can still safely bunker up in a tower and wait out the upgrades simply because the enemy does not have people going around this pain in the kitten map sniping yaks.
-Supply cost reduction, alright cant really say much here. Although I never thought it was possible but you guys found a way to make PvD even more boring and unbearable. Siege damage and wall/gate hp needs to be tweaked to be more balanced. Arrow carts need to do less damage against players especially with PPK being turned on, do not encourage more siege-humping and bunkering up in upgraded objectives abusing banners and other cheap gimmicks while attacking players with unhittable siege ENOUGH WITH THE SIEGE WARS.
-PPK being turned on, great love it, problem is the other stuff doesnt encourage fights.
-Not being able to rez dead players, good and bad.
Good-
*Will help smaller groups take on larger ones, because the larger zerg wont simply be able to mass rez everyone
Bad-
*Will make pirate shipping even worse, and kill off frontline. Why would anyone push into a blob, knowing they cant be rezzed. This will also make it extremely difficult for groups if a commander is killed, hence this will make tag watching/sniping reach epidemic levels. This will also encourage more bunkering and siegehumping, which is already bad enough while people abuse banners and other crap.
My advice is to have a test run for the rez changes for a week or two and see how it goes, that one can be a game changer. And please stop encourage more hiding in keeps and siege use, enough is enough, its not fun fighting against 10 arrow carts and a blob all running on a wall above you while your trying to attack a gate.
Its a little ironic considering how much guild centric features/grind they added with the expac, and oops lol hey they forgot this important little npc in every map, maybe you unlock him at lvl 60 guild hall and 100k gold ?
Sidenote, the new bl also does not have one
Good Post Fin…
As someone who has also been doing WvW for close to 3 years now, has played through every tier and against every server, and level of participation has also ranged from hardcore to casual (mainly due to anets actions).
I absolutely hate the new map and all the other garbage they added, it promotes a terrible style of gameplay that has turned me off almost completely from wvw. Since HoT, seeing what they did to wvw and their complete ignorance, neglect, and amazing but not surprising lack of communications with us, I have pretty much lost any desire to do wvw. Instead I have been trying to stay busy any other way I could ingame, if not for my guild and friends I would have quit gw2 all together.
breakbar needs to be fixed, scaling needs to be reworked drastically, and hp/armor needs to be reduced a little or inc the damage timer. I thought the same thing about how ridiculous it looks that killing this ugly bug is harder then killing an elder dragon in its own map….I just want to finish td meta once so I can do the achieves and be done with it.
Great to see you guys still around, IRON was a blast to run with in the old SoR t1 days, skilled, dominant and unafraid to take on larger numbers.I hope Wrex is doing ok
No thank you, theres enough crap on the screen to deal with, and ranks are useless enough after you max everything because excess points are unusable for anything. I cant stand playing frontline because I get focused all over the place with endless cc’s, condi spam, and tons of aoe bombs because people target ranks, why make it stick out more and make yourself a bigger target.
I have and they have all been fails, I dont need advice on how to run the event, and Im not interested in playing taxi wars in the lfg. Im only posting for anet to fix the bugs to make the event more manageable.
I do also agree that the scaling definately needs tweaking considering this is a map meta event it draws most people in and it should not be counterproductive the way it is now, also if one lane finishes it should be able to go help another one without fear of overscaling and causing the event to fail, trying to help should not be penalized.
(edited by X T D.6458)
Please Fix TD meta, so I and many others can finally finish this event just once, finish the achieves and leave, and stop wasting hours on failed attempts.
-Nuhock spores not spawning/working
-Breakbar not working properly, still glitched as of last night after both patches. This leads to constant arguing in maps about whether or not to use cc’s.
I believe this was supposed to be fixed recently, but its still bugged. Cannot quit any storyline without it popping back in the tracker when you relog, change toons, rezone etc.
just tested this on the 32bit, seems to be related to the 64bit client
I have been having this issues for several days now, my game freezes for a couple seconds and the screen gets all messed up when I try to jump out of water, I am using 64 bit client, I have no idea whats causing it.
I am using the 64bit client and I was able to load the instance properly the first time the other day but crashed like always with this mission near the end, this has happened several times on the 32bit version as well, and consistently with this mission, once even 3 times attempting it on one toon. A subsequent attempt was successful with no crash the other day.
Seems to be fixed now; at least, it is for me.
still not working, did you do anything differently, are you using 64bit client?
oh yea forgot to mention, also using 64bit client as well
Been going on for several days since the patch, the login newsfeed does not showup and just shows loading icon without end.
Great guild with a lot of friendly experienced players.
Good luck with the warrior search Angel, thats gonna be rough with the way wvw is currently going :x
I got a good laugh from that picture, 30 people engaged in epic PvD, thats some great wvw advertisment
…no wonder they dont have a clue. FIGHTS ANET, ITS ABOUT THE &%^&*#^ FIGHTS.
Try posting on reddit, the devs seem to spend most of their time on that site instead of this..official…game forum site…hmm /smh
@ Jana, yea the speed, and lack of player participation I believe are the biggest issues. One of the most confusing to me is the changes to camp/dolyaks in regards to upgrades. In the past both were absolutely crucial and required player effort in order to upgrade. Now, their role and significance has been marginalized and almost inconsequential to upgrades. Whats even more puzzling is dolyaks were buffed to become more durable and yet at the same time they are not even required for upgrades, I just find this completely counterproductive. The simplified upgrade queues and removal of gold cost are a welcome change, there was a constant confusion as to what goes in what order, and needless labeling of trolling on people who might have been new and didnt know but were just trying to help, and the gold cost…well it was ridiculous to begin with.
I did not change my complaint, I was commenting on someone elses post. You also fail to mention the actual effects of the auto upgrades, ppt requires offense that means capturing stuff. When they make capturing stuff all that much difficult, not that it shouldnt be, but to out of balance the way it is now thanks to auto upgrades, blobbing and ktraining becomes the standard tactic, do you really not understand this? Whereas in the past you could leave a small team to cap stuff on a map, now you need a large force anywhere.
Preventing supply trolling is one of the good parts of automatic upgrades, I always felt that going case by case was unproductive, nor were they ever engaged in ever actually seriously enforcing it. I personally feel automatic upgrades in its current state is unbalanced and needs more work required on the part of players.
You dont seem to understand, idk if thats intentional or your just not bothering to actually read my posts before replying to them. You took one sentence while ignoring the rest of my post which actually (if you bothered reading) explains my point to throw this label on me as someone who somehow supports ktraining? How is me talking about the importance of small teams helping their server during dead time zones supporting ktraining? And furthermore how is me pointing out how the new autoupgrade system encouraging ktraining and hurting small teams make me someone who wants more ktrains?
Its hypocritical, self contradicting, condescending, self righteous, and insulting threads like these that the community and game doesn’t need, not posts with relevant feedback and frustrations over recent changes that actually affect peoples gaming.
Consider also, in the past that just because your server was in the dead time of the day it didnt mean there was no activity or your score had to drop to 50 or something. Sure you might lose your upgraded stuff, but thats not the end of the world. During those dead times, small teams could easily keep ppt up by constantly recapping paper structures not just on home bl, but other maps as well. Now however, when you are outnumbered and the enemy has everything upgraded on their bl quickly and with no effort on their part, this will put a serious obstacle in the way when trying to maintain ppt during this time. Whereas in the past it was much more manageable with a small team.
Auto upgrades, in its current implementation it simply encourages more blobbing and ktraining, then ever before because it becomes a more valuable strategy as small guild/havok teams become essentially shut out of the new wvw.
No it really doesn’t. Some of your points are valid, like the complaint about +5. But auto upgrades discourages ktraining because it makes it easier for a small force to defend against an unorganised larger force and if all they’re there for is the ktrain you can even make them leave the map completely. However a smaller force can only delay a determined and organized larger force. Which is how it should be.
Without auto upgrades, a small force trying to recap their BL that was lost during a dead coverage period will likely leave everything as paper until the enemy ktrain comes back simply because they don’t have anyone to spare to babysit upgrades. With auto upgrades those objectives will get stronger the longer you hold them even without any babysitting. So now, by the time the enemy ktrain comes back you likely have at least cannons and oil and if you’re lucky you may also have reinforced walls. Which gives you a chance to fight back.
I didnt say auto upgrades are bad, I said in its current implementation its unbalanced. Your also proving my point about it encouraging ktraining and blobbing. When you shift the focus to defense over offense instead of aiming for a balance, thats one of the consequences. Consider this, with all of the handicaps now affecting smaller groups, such as guild limitations, faster/auto upgrades that require no actual work on our end, bunch of gimmicky defense mechanics. You are essentially encouraging blobbing and ktraining to prevent stuff from upgrading or keeping it paper, even more then before. In the past ktraining was usually done when the enemy had a dead timezone, now its essentially encouraged as a constant tactic to counter automatic upgrades. And unfortunately the small teams which used to be so important to maintaining a bl, have been completely shut out and shafted by the recent features and changes.
From what I understand from the post, they werent running with the guild, if they were that kind of behavior is still uncalled for, even if understandable on their part not wanting pugs joining their group for a variety of reasons. Heck Ive done this myself a ton of times, Ive never been told off like that. Only times Ive had this kind of reaction is in pve maps when farmers go nuts if you try to do an event they arent doing..
Thats messed up, and smells like a bunch of elitist kittenes to me. Tell em to go ‘blank’ themselves next time, because nobody owns the map, and you can do w/e you want.
Auto upgrades, in its current implementation it simply encourages more blobbing and ktraining, then ever before because it becomes a more valuable strategy as small guild/havok teams become essentially shut out of the new wvw.
In typical anet fashion there is no balance, in regards to auto upgrades there are of course some obvious benefits but with how fast and easily structures upgrade now, and all the new stupid gimmicky defense mechanics they added in, not to mention the shameful wall after wall that has to be climbed in order to upgrade a guilds capabilities to even get a +5 from camps, whereas in the past any small/1person guild could achieve this easily. Now with so many gates in the way, it seems only large guilds are able to contribute to this, in a gamemode called…world vs world… guess not everyone matters?
There are many ways in which wvw can not be balanced its understandable, but anet continously fails to anticipate the consequences that many of us can see coming a mile away. I do not believe the concept of autoupgrades itself is a bad idea, but the current implementation in a larger picture has been very badly handled.
