It is hard to tell INTEL-Fanboys that FX has good singlecore performance.
Of-course it depends on game but in GW2 actually FX is not that bad.

it is shame that they didnt do CPU usage.
So here you can see there is no difference between FX 4100 and FX 8150
http://gamegpu.ru/rpg/rollevye/divinity-original-sin-test-gpu.html
Yeah, you have some game where i5 2100 will beat FX4300
http://gamegpu.ru/rpg/rollevye/might-magic-x-legacy-test-gpu.html
look here FX 4100 vs FX 4300
(edited by XFlyingBeeX.2836)
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/guild-wars-2-performance-benchmark,3268-7.html
here you have benchmarks- you need 1GHz more with 4100 to get same or little better performance.
Not good enough, only covers a very small footprint of CPUs/APUs for their tests.
FX 8150 is faster than llano quad core – we know that game use only 2-3 cores .. so why difference between FX 8150 and FX 4100?
Because this game will use every second core (1 per CU) – piledriver is better and faster
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/guild-wars-2-performance-benchmark,3268-7.html
here you have benchmarks- you need 1GHz more with 4100 to get same or little better performance.
It is up to you… but i have both.
The point is that DX9 is bottleneck for every new CPU. And yes FX at 5.0-5.1Ghz will beat i7 3.9Ghz. I guest that if if you hawe haswell at 4.5Ghz you need FX at least at 5.5 Ghz or higher
http://gamegpu.ru/rpg/rollevye/wasteland-2-test-gpu.html
interesting right? I am not saying that FX is better buy than i5, i wanted to buy broadwell for this game, but i wont because like i said DX9 is to big bottleneck here.
(edited by XFlyingBeeX.2836)
Bahellagh now you see what is difference between FX and i3 4* in singlethread, most of this game use 1 or 2 cores
Also not that in wasteland which use 2 core FX 4300 beat i3 4330
Xbitlabs is okay, but bittech is and intel fanboys site…
(edited by XFlyingBeeX.2836)
Bit-tech is intel fanboys site
Believe me FX 6300 OC-ed higher that 4.5GHzs will be as fast as i7 at 3.5Ghz. But i3 – lower power consumption, better upgrade also DX12 migh help a lot!
It is up to him if you go FX 6300 you will need to OC it to at least 3.9-4.0Ghz . If you go i3 you may upgrade to i5. But FX 6300 is better CPU
KillScale
I reccomend you FX 6300 if you will OC, but if you dont want to OC and you might upgrade to better CPU then i3 is good solution to.
DX12 is comming – more future proff is 6300 also easy OC even with stock cooler for this game (you just need rigth modo that can disable 1 core per CU) then T wont be a problem
(edited by XFlyingBeeX.2836)
Get FX 6300 and oc it to 4.5Ghz it will outperform any i3 at 3.4Ghz believe me i just played on i7 3770K at 3.8Ghz – FX 6300 is great for its price!
for maximum performance get i5 K – that all
if he find used for 130$ and know how to do it or find someone to help him than get buy that i7
Like i said i will do some test i3 vs Fx 6300 in GW2
Only problems is that i3 is not worth that money – if you play other games to. Do YOU?
for GW2 i recomendu you i3 or i5… but even FX 6300 is good.
if you can wait few days i will do some benchmarks with i3 and i5 and compare it against FX 6300
(edited by XFlyingBeeX.2836)
@TinkTinkPoof
7850 goes with i7 while need new GPu to for phenom system…. 7790 is good deal with phenom
7790 is enough and cheap -100$
But also 7770 will run this game on medium settings
So you want a better GPU for your i7 so your boyfriend will use 7850? Or will you keep 7850 with i7 and buy new GPU for yopur boyfriend (phenom)?
I would go with R9 280X or GTX 770 – cheaper one for i7
For phenom II 7790 or R7 265 (7850) or maybe R9 270 is good…
anyway in WvW large zergs even i7 is bottleneck … 7850 should maintain at least 45FPS
(edited by XFlyingBeeX.2836)
And which resolution do you use?
7850 is enough for 1080P
Also it is a monster overclocker – if you get it to 1100 core clock + or maybe 1200 then you have 7950
I would change your CPU – for this game get i5 4***
Yep 2C/4T – also low clock speed
No need to upgrade… if you like GW2 and you will spend a lot of your time for that game then get new laptop or PC.
First i recommend you wait for new maxwell GPUs like GTX 850 then get laptop with i7 4*** ( turbo core 3.4GHZ)
- something like this one

(edited by XFlyingBeeX.2836)
i had C2D even, if you buy athlon x4 750K you will get better performance, but i recommend you to get i5 (K) and OC it.
You can buy used i5 2/3/4***
sorry didnt saw that
just asking… because i OC ram and i see some improvements or not
http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/70824-bf4-ram-speed-benchmarks/
totaly different game … just asking is someone noticed some improvement with ram OC
turn down even character model limit to the lowest
Which GPU to max GW2 at 1080p resolution?

what are your settings?
what about RAm OC? does it help?
OC your CPu higher 4.3Ghz for i5 2500K .. get at least 4.6Ghz+
I think that right know if you do Phenom x4 965 vs FX 8350 in GW2 actually FX may be faster
i can only say that FX 6300 4.5Ghz is faster than E8500 4.5Ghz for this game
also this shows that FX is fatser than phenom on DX9

(edited by XFlyingBeeX.2836)
yes it is the best P/W… it is a great choise best for P/W, but you can get R7 265 or R9 270 almost similar prices
GTX 750 Ti and 7850 cannot compare – 7850 is better deal for sure
Athlon x4 750k for that price is really good. but GTX 750 ti is not good P/P … 7790 or 7850 or even 7870 have better P/P
fermi – he had APU FM2 – so Athlon x4
R7 260X is great for the price… but if you overclock go with R7 265 / 7850 – this is an overclocking beast!
7850 stock core clock is 860 while it goes to 1300+ core clock
THAT is 51% OC+
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18389760
if you play only GW2 get R7 260X or 7790 – cheaper one.
If you go for GTX 750 Ti or R7 265 and you like to use 4-8x msaa in games -check this out

“FX8350 would cap at 65FPS on lowest settings using a R7-260×”
If that’s true, then something was wrong with your system. My FX-60 (yep – socket 939) and 8800GT can beat that. If you need proof you’ll have to wait until tomorrow so I can grab the screenshots from my other laptop (not hooked up at the moment).
record it at 1080P i will be waiting
As far as I’m concerned, XFlyingBeeX, Please DO NOT respond to a topic unless you aim to keep the thread ON TOPIC and about GUILD WARS 2, because Holy sweet merciful mother, Arche Age is so amazing, so advanced wow, such AMD FX with it’s Cry Engine platform. What’s that going to do for Guild Wars 2? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. This game started it’s journey in development way back in 2007 when DirectX 10 was only accessible via Windows Vista and we all know how THAT went down. Direct X 11 wasn’t anymore than a drawing board concept as well, let alone 11.1 or 11.2 or DX12 which will probably be just the same as 11.2 which we probably won’t even need.
Ahem.
first i never siad that AMD is faster! I said :“it is that bad”! Yeas intel is faster or let we let about 30-50% faster
Cryengine is better for all CPU not only AMD FX…
Difference between directX 11 and directX 11.2 is HUGE – look at BF4.
What does ArchAge to do with GW2? More than you think… (it is still beta). Why do you have to buy i5 K and oc it as far as possible to get “good FPS”?
Yes many of users will try new MMOs…. archage is one of the first that use cryengine and support 4 cores. Every year their is a lot of new MMOs!
If you think that performance is not something that users care about your wrong…
(edited by XFlyingBeeX.2836)
Avelos 6798 what are you talking about?!
Read my kittening message. I said for everything excluding wvw and zergs.
THIS:
To be honest the GTX 660M would be the limiting factor for the unit
sorry – when your fighting scarlet
Aza whats your FPS in GW2 – LA when fighting final boss?
intelfanboys…
check you CPU usage man check that link (youtube) you have 2 games StarCraft and
GW2!
(edited by XFlyingBeeX.2836)
Yep directX 9 is a crap.
No they should do directX 11.2 or even wait for DirectX 12. But then i5 wont be so great choise why? becuse there wont be so big difference between FX 4300 and i5 4670K
At start GW2 was crap for fx cpu but right now i can say that OC-ed FX (4.5Ghz+) is on lvl of i3 4340 3.5Ghz
i have i7 3770K(gave it to my bro) 3.8Ghz and FX 6300 when i OCed it to 4.7Ghz sometimes FX was faster in single thread games (TLII,LoL,…) sometimes i with 5.2 OC couldnt get close to intel at 3.8Ghz
I also benchmarked FX 4300 3.4Ghz vs i7 mimic – i3 3.4Ghz in BF4 MP performance was almost the same…
AZA check it yourself – go windowed mode in LA + taskmanager and check CPU usage!
(edited by XFlyingBeeX.2836)
Yeah for sure
keep dreaming.
I don’t need to, as I’m more awake then you appear to be.
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1909165/guild-wars-cpu-usage-4670k.html
Yeah for sure keep dreaming.
Go in bios set 1 cores – test
Go in bios set 2 cores – test
then test with all 4 cores enabled – report back
sirsquishy – thats not totaly true
Intel is not 150% faster than AMD FX in single threaded tasks – i mean not in every game( single threaded).
I will say it like this sometimes it is like 125% sometimes 160% – huge difference
Also GW2 is not single threaded – check your CPU usage. It use 2-3 cores.
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/guild-wars-2-performance-benchmark,3268-7.html
FX 8320 is great for its price but the best CPu for this game is I5 K
(edited by XFlyingBeeX.2836)
2x improvement?
which one did you had? FX 8120?
game use 3 thread 70-75% or 2 threads 100%. Intel has stronger single thread. SO that why you see so much improvement. According to Tomshardware i5 2500 4.0ghz vs Fx 4100 4.0Ghz is only about 27% improvement.
(edited by XFlyingBeeX.2836)
Avelos 6798 what are you talking about?!

vs
-http://ark.intel.com/products/64896/intel-core-i5-3320m-processor-3m-cache-up-to-3_30-ghz
half less power…
weedaw dont listen to him. Your CPu is bottlenecking
cinebench r15 – 270 cb – i5 3230m – mine FX 6300 score with 3 threads about the same at 3.5Ghz – but this is Cinebench… while normal i5 scores with 3 cores around 370-400
i7-3840QM 4cores/8threads – CB R15 – 510
will the performance boost be worth of investing?
I dont know (depends on you), if you want more performance get i7, but it is not worth it. If you have money and you play this game a lot then buy it!
YOur CPU is like i3 on desktop
2T+2C = 2C/4T understand?
- so your CPu is like weak quadcore
(edited by XFlyingBeeX.2836)
Your CPu is bottleneck.
Game use up to 3 thread… yes i7 would give you better experience but is it worth it? Even with i7 Oced to 5.0Ghz you will still lagg in large WvW …
i5 3230 M = 2C/4T

Man , you are extreme overclocker!
I3 530 is easy to oc – i had one. All you need to do is raise voltage and BCLK. With stock cooling i had 3.5Ghz with cheap air cooler i had 4.2ghz i could go even higher but it wasnt worth it
avelos every one says that i3 530 is easy to OC

this is insane OC not 4.0Ghz or 4.2Ghz
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?241328-Intel-Core-i3-530-4-82Ghz-AIR-5-35GHZ-SS
i3 haswell 4330 3.5Ghz = i3 530 4.2Ghz ( or even less)
OC this CPU and wait for skylake or broadwell …
i can get only 4.7Ghz with Ga-990XA-Ud3 – quite disappointed
i mean i already reached 5.3Ghz voltages were 1.65-1.68 V
about haswell – 4.5Ghz is AVg with great MB and good cooling but…

You dont get it right – start learning
These chips are made to OC by BCLK.
did you see anyone OC-ing i5 655K to raise multiplier?
while haswell/ivy/SB nobody is pushing bclk
