Engie and Ele are the more flexible build wise, but Ele always get more love from Anet.
I don’t see any reason why Ele got more love…
Without elite spells you barely have any good utility spells.
Ofc you can use some blast finishers which do nothing other than having the combo finisher.
The weapons are all garbage. After the frost bow nerf I barely see any Ele using it.
The elite spells are just bad, really bad. Only the flame sword is decent, but with 3 min cooldown I’d rather take any utility spell with lower cooldown over it.
Maybe use the blink? So much cooldown… just as all the other defensive spells…
I would actually say Elementalist is most flexible for everything.
Go melee or range, be a supportive tank or go for pure damage.
I really love the Tempest, I am tanking the kitten out of everything and I am still doing good damage.
I think you can’t make them back, you’ll always have some white there.
Hard to get a blue flame that I liked but otherwise the quality is off the charts. Great outfit.
If you use Midnight Blue/Ice or Shadow Blue you get an awesome blue flame.
You can also use Electro Blue, but with that you see quite much yellow.
I actually like this more than running around on maps trying to find boring events.
They would get a more accurate rating if they would silently cut out all 10 and 0 votes.
It’s already there in options – in fact, I think you may have at some point inadvertently disabled it, as I’m sure it’s ticked as default.
This doesn’t show things like ores, Bandit Chests or any other interactable units.
Under misc keybindings there is the option “Show Enemy Names” which is default bound to LeftCtrl.
When holding this key you also see ores and stuff.
You didn’t actually specify in your post about ores and bandit chests. You only mentioned enemy names. Are the Rich Platinum Veins my enemy now? :O
A point about buried bandit chests – I think their names should stay hidden – because they are like you know, hidden since they’re buried chests.
And when it comes to ores and nodes – look at your mini-map – there’s an icon for every node, whether it’s wood, metal or plant.
Check your keybindings. Scroll down to “misc” and the default key of “Show Enemy Names” is LeftCtrl.
Holding down the key bound to “Show Enemy Names” will show the names of all the enemies, ores and any interactable entities.
Either they should add a new option to permanently show those or add it to the existing option.
I don’t understand why you are telling me this part – I already know this and my reply was about you not mentioning ores and bandit chests in your original post.
Also, I don’t think you’ve looked at the picture I attached in my first reply – the option for enemy names to be above their heads permanently is already there! Just like NPC and friendly player names. I prefer to have mine personally unticked so I can see more of the world. I’ll attach the picture again in case you missed it.
Ores and Bandit chests are not enemies. I suspect why you have to hold down the ‘freaking’ key is because farming shouldn’t be completely easy. I take it you would prefer it if you had a permanent key also, and for the chests to will their way into your inventory?
If something is worth having, it’s worth working for.
Having to permanently press the key to make it harder? What a joke…
It makes it annoying and not harder.

Hidden bandit chests aren’t shown, but once you dig them up they are. You can already hold down LeftCtrl to see them once they are dug up, but why do I have to permanently hold a freaking key instead of just enabling it to always show?
Also I prefer to see where the ore is instead of guessing by minimap.
There is no reason why they shouldn’t add an option for it.
If GW2 wouldn’t just go full lag with using a macro to hold the button I wouldn’t even have a problem and just use the macro to hold the button.
If you’re too lazy to just play a game then don’t play an MMO.
If you don’t like group content, play a single player game.
If you don’t like working for things, go play WoW.
If you don’t want to pay for an expansion, go play a free to play game.
It has nothing to do with being lazy, it’s about doing the same stuff over and over again.
What do you call “group content”? I can’t even level together with a friend because not even a single thing is shared within the group.
The only thing in GW2 you really work for is skins. Now with the expansion you need to work for stuff which should have been already enabled by default.
And your last part is the typical ignorant answer nearly 95% of the community gives because they ran out of arguments if they even had any.
“Dare you to give any criticism, if you don’t like it, go somewhere else.”
You literally ran out of kittens to give, not the behavior of an supposedly adult.
Sadly GW2 has nothing such as real healing like in other MMOs, but I kinda made it work with my Guardian at the cost of not doing as much damage as others.
My combination is sentinel armor with cleric weapons and trinkets.
Trooper runes and water sigil round it out.
I am going with mace and focus always spamming my symbol which not only heals, but also gives a regeneration effect.
You could also go with soldier armor for more damage, but since I wasn’t interested in doing damage as a supporting char, I chose sentinel, making me way more tanky.
I also tried full cleric, but that didn’t work out the way I wanted. My heal was over the top, but I just died way too fast because my heal couldn’t keep up.

Please, can you add an option to lock “Show Enemy Names”?
It’s so annoying to keep holding down CTRL just to see all the names, especially in SW.
I even bound it to the NumLock key and made a macro to keep holding down NumLock, but that just ended up in GW2 totally freezing at some point.
I don’t see any reason why there shouldn’t be an option to just permanently show every name of every interactable item or npc without needing to hold down a button.
No the problem is that instead of actually making challenging content, they just lazily made content that is DIE unless you have “X”, that’s not challenging, that’s just lazy .
And then people circle-jerk and praise for such “Good Content”
I absolutely agree.
That’s such a stupid way of doing things.
Same with the agony resistance. It’s a useless stat you only need for fractal. It doesn’t add any depth into the game, it’s just a value you HAVE TO increase to be able to play higher fractals.
You don’t need it anywhere else, it doesn’t do anything else. It’s just there to be able to withstand the agony damage which is only in fractals at certain points.
Why can’t I go high level fractal just because I want the challenge of it being harder to finish?
Why do I have to spend so much time or money onto something with doesn’t add any depth?
And while we’re at it, it sucks that A-Net is just making things harder by increasing numbers instead of actually working out ways to make it harder.
The stairway at the graveling boss area has no collision at all, we just walked through there out of bounds, swimming in the water.
I really do hate this ignorance of this community.
Everyone is just talking about GW2 having such clear mechanics and easy access to everything. That’s one of the big points of GW2.
Yet, nearly everyone is complaining about it being already available by going into the hero panel and that it would just confuse or whatever.
It’s confusing how it is now and just annoying if you want to swap weapons. This change would just support the style of GW2 about having easy executable mechanics without clutter inventory management. That was one of the main advertise points that your char can swap weapons on 1 click. Therefor Ele and Engi should only have the restriction of needed to be ooc.
Disregarding on having more skills, it’s just fair for them to have those 1 or 2 extra slots for weapons they don’t need to have in their inventory. They still can’t swap in combat, so there is no reason why this shouldn’t be accessible.
Compared to other MMOs GW2 doesn’t offer that much for the later game.
You can’t achieve any reputation in the game, either with or without a guild. There is no competitive aspect where you or your guild is in the foreground and known by others.
All you can do it farming ascended and legendary gear which has better stats and some other features, but doesn’t make you any better than playing with exotic gear.
The end game in GW2 is mainly based on getting skins. You are not playing for anything to achieve except you just want to have the challenge to get all achievements.
Either you play the game because you like it, because you’re bored or you just don’t play the game at all.

Thx for the answer.
So even if I use my agony resistance on the armor I could potentially use the armor on my Mesmer to run higher Fractal with him even though celestial might not be the best?
When I craft ascended gear is it account bound or soul bound to the character I crafted it with?
I wanna craft celestial gear for my Ele, but only my Mesmer has the needed crafting level.
Please no.
I already think that separating light/medium/heavy is a stupid thing.
While we have so many outfits already that completely change the characters look to be nowhere close to the armor type, why don’t we have the choice to change the look of the armor as we want?
Most of the heavy armor for example look really awful imo, why can’t I make my guardian look somewhat like a priest or monk for example?
1) We had a “party leader” system before. If he/she got kicked hole party were kicked out of the dungeon. The griefing were way worse. The forum cried Anet obeyed.
2) NOWADAYS dungeons is just a fast way of income, so people just wanna go in, finish, grab the money and get out(3yrs of stale content does that). So create your own LFG “all welcome” or “noob need help” may take time but someone will join.
3)? there are no quest in this game. you talking about hearts? they are there to give an idea of what to do. come on it does not take that long to fill one (except the one in the portal in char zone when event is done)
Also do some daily pvp to get tomes of knowledge to lvl up.
Hope this helps.
This actually didn’t help at all and you basically said nothing at all to contribute.
1. If that’s actually how it was, how about just fix the problem instead of completely messing everything up? Why does a party need to disband if the leader left? The party will stay as it is. And if you want to kick the leader because he is offline, then after maybe 2-3 min you’ll be able to vote kick him and someone else takes the lead. Easy as that.
2. I wasn’t talking about people wanting to just run through fast. I am talking about the level minimum which is set by the game itself. If you were to run AC explorable mode with a full party of level 35 characters you would just fail. And if this should be seen as a challenge for those, the reward of a bit more than 1g is not appropriate.
Also I am not a noob and know what to do, but it’s simply not possible to run a reasonably constant successful party without any level 80 characters.
3. Those hearts are quests. They also don’t just “give an idea of how to play”. It’s the main source of getting EXP beside of random map events. It doesn’t matter how long such a quest or event lasts. Fact is that I want to share everything with my friend, regardless of how long it takes. Because we want to play TOGETHER. Where is the point of running together when nothing is shared anyway? Doesn’t the game want me to play with friends outside of dungeons?
You are completely missing every point I made and just told me something which I already know, but doesn’t contribute to anything said.
No approval or disagreement?
I am actually really frustrated atm so I had to share my words.
I really really dislike the party system.
What I mean is the fact that everyone can just vote kick you.
Why the hell does this even make sense?
I open a party, it’s MY party that I want to start and have control over.
However, people can just randomly kick me if they like.
I am alone and 2 or 3 people join and kick me. Great. That already happened way too many times to me. Don’t tell me I am a rare exception, I’m not gonna believe that.
If I want to kick someone out of MY party I need to wait for others to accept the vote.
Why do I need votes of others to kick someone out of MY party?
It is complicated and just causes more problems than it actually fixes.
I don’t even know why voting would be better. To make it fair? No. Hell no.
Wanna solo a dungeon and sell the boss? People kick you out of the party aka dungeon and do the boss alone while you did all the work to get to the boss.
Another part I wanna talk about are the dungeons in general.
While the level minimum of the regular story mode of dungeons makes sense and is quite fair chosen, the level minimum of the explorable mode is just plain wrong and doesn’t represent how it actually is.
Why is the explorable mode in general always just max 5 levels higher than story mode?
If I would run explorable in AC for example and would play with a full level 35 party, we would just horribly fail because of the lack of damage. Maybe if you’re perfectly coordinated it might work, but not for a regular play.
Not even considering this, you barely find any party anyway that doesn’t require level 80.
People only want Lv80, META, 5k AP and gear check.
I want to level my chars in dungeons because I am bored of running around and doing kittenty quests. It’s not the way I have fun leveling, so I wanna do something else. But I barely can. It’s so freaking hard to find or make parties when you’re not level 80.
Ofc I can still do story mode, but that doesn’t give as much exp and gold. It also doesn’t give any dungeon tokens.
I don’t even get why people even want a certain amount of AP… I’ve seen people who just started the game who played far superior than others with 20k AP. Achievement points doesn’t mean anything.
Now about the leveling.
Disregarding of how you can level and if you like it or not, there is one thing that really annoys me the most…
Why can’t I share quest progress in my party?
I was leveling with my friend, and even though we’re in the same party and on the same quest, if I didn’t hit the same monster as he did, I wouldn’t get any progress.
Some things are even only be able to be used by one person until it spawns again.
This makes it really frustrating to level together with a friend since you always have different progress and have to wait till your friend is also done.
Why can I make a party with someone if I don’t have any benefit outside of dungeons?
Why can’t we simply share everything?
I know that it’s not wanted to have leeching by just sitting somewhere and doing nothing. But you could simply add the restriction that you have to have the same quest active and have to be in certain range from another.
And actually, right now there is a far worse leeching part going on in GW2. While you can’t regularly leech exp like in other MMOs, you can simply just hit the monsters a couple of times and just run away and still get the exp and reward of the event as long as you’re still on the map.
This is just unfair. I am doing the work and some random guy can just hit once and run away and gets “nearly” the same reward?
That’s stealing. While regular leeching is willingly done by someone to help someone (paid or not doesn’t matter), in GW2 you just steal the reward while you basically did nothing.
I am really annoyed about all this, it’s a wrong concept and just feels like it’s done to be different. Just like all the other conversations about A-Net trying to make everything different than it is in WoW.
Now, let the stones fly, I am ready.
Most people gonna come with the argument “GW2 is different” and “if you don’t like it, why do you even play the game” anyway.
GW2 has many great things, but people really need to realize that there are also many flawed things that should be fixed and not kept just to be different.
(edited by Xetu.7341)
I tried WoW afterward (briefly) and I can not understand how anyone would prefer to be forced into a “trinity” role.
GW2 is also forcing “roles”, playstyles.
There are many many many builds for classes that just suck. You get the opportunity to choose any way you want to use your traits, choose the stats, use any spell you want and yet you just have a few of them that are actually useful.
I am not talking about going heal stats when you have no heal. I am talking about legitimate different playstyles.
The main part is the stupid “zerg meta”. It’s annoying. It really is.
Why can’t the game be more versatile? The only part of the game where going berserk is not the way to go is Fractal Lv50.
Ofc you can play different and still do your part, but you are not efficient. Why can’t I build up different and be efficient my way?
Looking at this, there are many utility skills on classes that just suck.
When I look at my Ele, all the elite spells are utterly garbage. Just the Flame Sword is decent but with the 3min cooldown I’d rather prefer a normal utility spell. And most people only use the Flame Sword to move faster, not to actually fight with it.
And now with the change of the Frost Bow, it’s just garbage as well. Now there is no good weapon you can spawn. Why can’t they make all of them actually worth using? Why do I have spells that basically do nothing or even make me weaker when using them?
Even though GW2 doesn’t have the normal DD/Tank/Healer lineup and playstyle, there is way less versatility in team setups than in other MMOs.
I get why people are happy that there is not the standard MMO lineup, but the way A-Net is doing it is really lackluster.
If I could actually specialize my char on something I want, because I like to, I also want to be efficient and be as useful as my other teammates. But I ain’t.
And I also don’t get why people complain about other MMOs static lineup of DD/Tank/Healer when most people I talked to play League of Legends where you are actually FORCED to play a certain way.
I actually agree with every point and I know many people who see it the same way.
Sadly the GW2 community is horrible when it comes to suggestions and criticism.
The first reaction is always “Hell no, GW2 is different, if you don’t like it why don’t you play another game”.
Why do you think people suggest something? Not because they don’t like the game.
If I wouldn’t like the game, I wouldn’t even take the effort and suggest anything.
Just because GW2 is different, it doesn’t make it better. There are many things which could be changed without anyone even complaining if A-net would do so. But just by suggesting anything people already go 180° rage mode and flame you for even saying something.
Let me ask you this:
Do you really like the game to 100% without exceptions and agree on everything A-net does?
I really want that outfit too. They should just add it. Makes them even more money.
So sad… it really looks awesome… thanks for the answers though.
Hello everyone, I just started the game and I am all about customization of my characters. I saw there is this costume Raiment of the Lich, but it’s not available to buy.
Is there any way to get it otherwise? Or will it come back into the store?
