Alternate armor set for Power/DS necro

Hey!

I’m running full berserker gear on my power necro. I’m focused on Axe/focus with alot of DS time.
I feel like I need to get an alternate defensive set for the higher fractals or simply for fights where it’s really hard not to take dmg. I was thinking Valkyrie or Cavalier but I don’t know which one to choose. I’m thinking those 2 cause they give critical dmg which my build is sort of focused on. With the 50% more crit chance in DS trait I feel it’s still viable even without the precision, I will also still use my ascended berserker trinkets.

So can anyone help me to decide on the defensive set, with an explanation as to why a well

50% base 30% SR, +10% weapons, +12% runes, + 31% trinkets/rings/amulet/back. Thus 130% TOTAL crit damage, like I posted.

Ahh that’s where you confused me, you added the 50% base which isn’t shown in the hero panel. I thought you had 130% there but that would leave you at 80% in the panel. That’s clearifies alot

I wear full Knight’s armor, and recommend Greater Runes of Divinity or ruby orbs. For trinkets, I use full celestial. Why do I do this? Simple. As a necromancer, you are perhaps the only class that will always have multiple conditions and power based skills vying for use, and the hybrid approach to Power and Condition is insanely underrated on these forums. I also have about 130% total critical damage, which means that the criticals not only come regularly but hit hard. With food and tuning stones, condition damage is roughly 700 if I recall correctly and stack solid damage on top of your power/crit.

How on earth do you get about 130% critical dmg with knights gear when I as a full berzerker in every slot with ruby orbs and full soul reaping don’t?

Thanks for the great advice guys. In pvp I will try hydromancy and paralyzation for sure.
For the pve part (which I forgot to mention is the biggest part) I tried to put the stats into the calculator and found it to be very close. If I maintain 4 stacks I get more damage than 5% sigil and with 3 stacks I go just below It couldn’t calculate the flame sigil though so that’s still a mystery but might try it instead of the life steal sigil on the dagger, to get 1 source of aoe on the dagger as well which it so desperatly need :P I’ll have to keep thinking about the axe sigil since it was so close in numbers

Hey!

I’m need suggestions about sigils for my weapons in my power setup.
I got Axe/Warhorn and Dagger/Focus. I already have superior sigil of bloodlust on my offhand weapons and are pretty happy with that. The dagger has superior sigil of blood and the axe superior sigil of force.
I’m thinking superior sigil of strength on one of the MH weapons or maybe both to push that power up even further, and give the on crit bleeds a little more punch.
Any suggestions to this? Is it better than 5% flat damage?

My crit chance is 53% and mostly 20% more cause of fury so I do crit alot.

Necromancer DPS low?

Hey!
I just wanted to add my oppinion to this (it is a PvE based oppionion)

I have played every class at 80 and I enjoy most of them, they all have fun aspects. The necro is one of my favourite, together with thief and guardian. I have gear for both power and conditions but I tend to go power almost all the time, the conditions is nice for some dungeons and I always asks if someone else is doing it first :P

I absolutly love the power necro playstyle and I use both dagger and axe sometimes as my 2 weapon sets at the same time. Only bring out my staff for some encounters where range is a must. I recently paired my axe with a warhorn and I must say the aoe of that is enough for me at least. axe 3, wh 5 and DS 4 and you have yourself some nice numbers. Pop a well or 2 on top of it and boom! The dagger is paired with a focus for some single-target vulnerability high dps with some boon removal, it’s awesome. Granted you would want to see a change in dagger 2 and 3 just so I can dust those buttons off every now and then.

That said about the weapons I run all berzerker gear with ruby orbs atm and what I love about this is that I got so much survivability anyway. high healthpool and deathshroud really isn’t bad. I have countless times been the sole survivor of a boss fight hitting them solo for 5 minutes until dead with my fellow warriors, guardians, mesmers whatever lying on the floor relaxing.
I don’t know if I often happen to gang up with the wrong people who can’t survive but I take it that I’m atleast semigood at not dying.

I have tried a couple of different speccs, 30/30/10/0/0 – 30/30/0/0/10 – 10/15/0/15/30 (yes I tried the siphons and I wish they were better too) and whatever you can imagine. I can however not stop to think that 30 in soul reaping is just awesome. I love to shadowdance you see 100% uptime on fury, lost of stuff happening each time you enter DS, it’s just great. Sometimes I also just don’t equip a ranged weapon and just switch to DS when I have to hit something from a distance, it works.
I really hope the leaked notes are right about axe training being a master trait cause then I can go 20/15/0/0/30 (with 5 points somewhere I don’t know yet) and start shadowdance with my axe.
I know alot of people say axe sucks, and I thought so too at first, but the axe isn’t that bad when you do it right. Ofc I’ not saying it’s perfect and doesn’t need anything done to it but I really don’t like to complain about the axe.

Sure alot of you probably think I’m nuts and should get back in my box but this works for me, I enjoy it and I know I have good dps. As stated earlier I’m often last man standing and that is 100% more dmg than a dead warrior…
Only thing I really wish for is better minions, I really, truly want to be a minionmaster the way I was in GW1 but I guess that’s not happening.

That’s all for me, hope you can see where I’m getting at.

tl,dr:
Zerk necro got nice dps and great survivability, don’t let anyone else tell you different!
Conditions is also good if you’re alone doing it, however not as much fun imo.

Hello fellow thiefs!

I’ve recently started playing this cute class and I find most weapons fun to use. However I have a hard time deciding what to do with it.

Keep in mind I mostly like PvE and WvW, I haven’t come around to try much regular PvP but I haven’t excluded it from my future endeavours.

Looking forward to replies from someone with more a little more experiance than me to give me a good perspective on things!

Unyielding Blast bug?

Softspoken I’m a human female, and a small one at that. I haven’t really put much attention to the size of the enemies when it happens but it could be small ones, I don’t know. That work around could work ye, but don’t want to be forced to a workaround.

It seems as though it doesn’t work at all sometimes when I enter DS but the next time I enter it works and so on. And I’m sure it has worked as intended that I can like stand in melee range, shoot the target that’s chewing my leg and then hit something between 0 and 900 range away.

This is weird :S

Has anyone else noticed that even when traited with unyielding blast DS1 doesn’t always pierce?
This happens alot to me and it’s VERY frustrating

Yeah I’ll keep my jaguar as my main pet, seems like a good choice.
What I’m trying to accomplish here is a fun and effective build which works well for dungeons using some melee (really like melee ranger) and pet. I’m not sure if I should go very tanky with pvt and let the pet to the dmg, go conditions or go power/crit or some kind of hybrid :S

Okey, nice to hear that I won’t be gimping myself or my pet then atm my condition dmg is so low so I haven’t really seen any difference in the numbers yet.

Hi!

Just to be clear, this post is regarding PvE content!

I was wondering how condition damage works together with a pet with alot of conditions.
First of all, am I right when I say that the pet does NOT get any of the rangers own condition dmg, or any other stat for that matter?

The issue I’m thinking of is if the pet adds bleed stacks to the rangers own stacks, and if I’m running no condition dmg on my gear but traited for more conditions on the pet it might actually do more dmg on his bleeds but I’ve stacked lowdmg bleeds with my SB for instance. Or for that matter if I go full out condition dmg does my pet add his lower bleeds to my omgwtfpwn bleeds to make the big numbers tick more?

Hope I’m not being to incoherent (?) here.

I was also thinking you rangers with long experiance could tip me in the right direction when it comes to gear to match my traits. Atm I’m running 0/20/0/0/20 (I’m lvl 50) and aiming for 0/20/20/0/20 and the last 10 points undecided, probably gonna go into BM. 0/20/15/5/30 is also an option I’ve considered.

I really like GS and have been running SB as my other wep mostly cause it feels good in dungeons. The sword + whatever offhand is also quite nice although I sometimes get lost in myself while flying across the battlefield and there have been moments of foul language while rooted in place. I currently have jaguar and red moa as pets and I’m quite happy with them.

So now my pet is doing alot of the dmg, my jaguar is stacking alot of bleeds (on crit) and I also have the heal on crit and 30% more crit dmg. Was ofc thinking of taking more condition dmg for pets in the WS line.

I think I mentioned all my thoughts but if I missed some vital information tell me and I’ll elaborate

If all players in a guild temporarily moves to a different world, does the guild still exist?
My first thought would be yes since you can be in a guild cross worlds but since no one can earn influence or use any of the guild features when they’re on a different world I got uncertain.

No no of course they shouldn’t be the best looking things in the game, I’m just saying that some of them is on par with the things you craft for lvl 5 and some is having alot of clipping issues

Some of the HoM rewards just look awful. For instance the staff looks like something I found on a daily stroll in the woods and don’t even get me started on the pistol…
What bugs me the most though is how the beautiful focus just gets destroyed when sheated, it would be better if it folded up like into a whole crystal or simply remained on your arm.
Some of the things you get from HoM just doesn’t seem like “rewards” at all, they should all be very exclusive and cool looking imo.

Hiya!
I’m thinking of trying the runes for might duration, ie the superior rune of; hoelbrak, fire and strength but I have one question about it: does the 60% might duration I get for having 2 of each work with might given by other players?
