Hehe, you might be on to something there Neko.
What numbers would be the best to aim for? I do feel rather squishy at times and the idea to change my zerker armor (not trinkets) to PVT is constantly there.
Aha, so we kind of see eye to eye on the fire GM trait Neko
I’m wondering if I loose too much crit chance and dmg by lowering my air traits, thoughts?
Thank you BlackBeard!
I have been thinking about taking renewing stamina actually so might as well do that, even though I kind of fell in love with giving out party fury
The vulnerability part is covered by party since I do most stuff in group and it’s very rare to not have someone stack vulnerability. Before I did 30 fire I had 25 fire 25 air to get vulnerability on crit but it felt wasted when in a party.
About the stone splinters. I was tempted to have that as well but decided on arcane lightning due to the aditional 10% crit dmg and 100 precision just for speccing into the line, maybe it’s not worth it not sure, that was what I was thinking anyways
I was thinking maybe going with the ascended trinkets that have pretty much zerker stats but switches like 18 precision to vit but feels like a small thing might not make a difference. What do you think?
On my daggers I have 5% dmg and 5% crit chance which I really like, energy would be awesome as well though, kitten it! give me a third arm!
For WvW I was actually thinking last night while trying to sleep (hard to let go) that maybe I should get a PVT set for that and then I started thinking about getting a set of defensive ascendeds and get the wvw infusions. Would be nice to keep my PvE set since it’s the beautiful t3 armor, LOOKS! :P
Maybe zerker gear (or if I switch a piece or 2 to knights maybe) with defensive ascendeds would do the trick for WvW.
I wonder however what stats to go for then, regular PVT or power, crit dmg with high toughness, oh the choices!!
Clerics staff sounds pretty nice. I do keep alot to water attunement in wvw to do the awesome fields. I have a sup sigil of battle atm on my current staff but maybe I’ll switch it to another. More dodges never hurt when getting zerged.
Will scrap the apothecary idea then :P your point is very valid
bumping myself here
Hey!
I usually get great help with my questions from this forum so here we go once again
Keep in mind that this thread is about PvE, dungeons, fractals and also WvW.
Currently my elementalist looks exactly like this:
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=Vm;4BJkT0O-kMkY0;9;4TJ-J-27A56;253;25J;1J0-udbTudbTn-FTV6;1kb-VLVQWVX_2f3l4230;9F18Z;9;9;9;9;4kE
As you can see I’m a hammer focused build but I also tend to use my regular weapons quit often, it all depends on the encounter and group.
I have some gaps in my trinkets which is not a mistake, I need some help deciding if I should get berserker on the rest as well or something like power, toughness, crit dmg or whatever, maybe won’t make enough difference to be worth it.
Another question I have is when it comes to staff. What stats and sigil should I aim for. I was thinking Apothecary cause I mostly just use staff in wvw and the water fields are nice there, and ofc fire and earth do conditions. On the other hand only the stats from the weapon might not do that much difference at all.
I could also use opinions on sigils for my scepter/focus set.
I would like criticism (constructive) on every aspect here, traits, gear, sigils whatever been arguing with myself alot about this stuff :P help me stop fighting myself!
Added question:
For someone who really enjoys conjure weapons, will Lava Axe ever be buffed to be usefull and why is there no underwater conjure weps. Would be sweet if the conjured stuff changed to underwater weps while in water. IE Frost Bow turns to frost harpoon gun or lava axe to Fiery Trident or whatever.
okey. Thanks for the great tips
Thanks Nay of the Ether. I will try out the shield, never used it before. I don’t really like the frost bow that much except for the nr4 skill but the hammer and GS is something I really enjoy (and axe but if it’s that crappy I’ll stay away from it).
Maybe my 30 in Fire is too much, don’t know if I’ll use Pyromancer’s Puissence enogh to make it worth it…hmm, something to think about.
However do you think I’m too glassy, would it be wise to invest more in vit/toughness?
The rings I have, Adelberns and Lunarias provides a bit of protection (picked those cause they’re already waiting in my bank).
Thanks for the reply Zelyhn!
Too bad about the axe, it looks cool :P I do love the hammer and have noticed it’s insane amount of damage while leveling. Was thinking maybe I should switch the axe then for Arcane Wave for another blast finisher.
What do you think of the trait/gear setup, does it look good?
(edited by Xhean.3452)
Hey!
I’m very interested in playing conjure weapons but was thinking, is it any good?
I like the staff and scepter/focus but will probably end up with the staff.
Been fiddling around with this build:
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-k;4BJ-W0O-NNkY0;9;4T-J9957B;157-5;04;0S;5udbTudbTo-k51;5VLVQWVX_2f3l_-iVD70H;2V8aF18ZF1;9;9;9;9;2V0g
So what can you tell me about my theoretic build, does it work, does it do the trick.
Aim is PvE, dungeon, fractal.
I’m also wondering, does the sigil of battle work on attunement switch when holding a conjured weapon?
Awaiting some pro tips
Seriously if they add a sword MH that acts as a power weapon with cleave damage, would anyone even consider using axe or dagger MH? Am 100% certain the answer is no.
Yes cause thieves have a sword with cleave and a dagger without it and no thief ever uses dagger, right?
Because 30-20-20 is for PvP, and actually there is no “worthwhile” PvE condition build. If you ain’t power zerking in PvE your only hurting yourself and your group. Real talk!
Well that’s just BS right there. Sounds like the talk of someone who plays 1 mesmer 4 warriors CoF all the time…
Try condition necro in high level fractals and you’ll see some wonders
necros can’t use sword focus and warhorn is good to do on necro though. Still think that if a condition applied from the weapon kills the target it should count
Well, power doesn’t do anything for you really so I’d switch. Especially since you have runes of the undead which givesyou more condition damage the more toughness you have, so not only will you be able to take more damage you’ll also deal more win-win.
Is it exotic rampager rings you have?
If you get rare rabids from TP (cheap) they’ll do until you can afford ascendeds imo. I ran rares until ascendeds anyway, it’s just fine. Waste of karma :P
WAS A DAMAGE BUFF REALLY WHAT WE NEEDED????
Yes since I still sometimes get told: “No we don’t want you in our group we want a dps class”
This is very dishearthening considering the amount of damage I know I put out
well that is just ignorance on their part and you know it. sad that we need something over the top for people to see our dmg potential. all that really matter are the facts not what ignorant people think.
(i cant really speak from a pve pov as i dont pve much anymore)
Yes people are stupid and that makes us all sad
Except for that ascended gear which would take me months to get
one step at a time Just use rares or exotics while you wait
and keep crest of the rabid on them
NP, happy to help
It doesn’t make sense to take Dhuumfire?
I take dhuumfire. Even if you only get it to procc once it’s pretty much outdamaging 20% under 50% hp on a condition build (exagerating a bit but you get my point)
is this trait worth taking over Close to Death in a group with a Guardian if you are running a condition build?
Hmm.. If you’re in PvE it doesnt make sense because a boss with be under 50% health for a long time.
if you’re running a condition build I’m guessing scepter, and the scepter dmg is incredibly low so 20% more dmg is basically nothing. It doesn’t do anything for your conditions.
WAS A DAMAGE BUFF REALLY WHAT WE NEEDED????
Yes since I still sometimes get told: “No we don’t want you in our group we want a dps class”
This is very dishearthening considering the amount of damage I know I put out
The weapon master achievement doesn’t register a kill by a condition applied by your weapon, this makes it very hard to get kills with condition based weapons/builds, i.e. Necromancer scepter. Have to hit critters to get a kill registred.
This is exactly how my necro looks. The only thing I switch around is Corrosive Poison Cloud as utility (and epidemic for single target bosses) and the traits X in spite and V in Death magic. I also switch VII in curses for I when I do wvw cause I like to take less falling dmg there.
I use this build for regular pve, wvw and have used it in fractals up to 48, works like a charm. Only need to upgrade my backitem now and I’m ready for anything :P
Hope this gives you some perspective.
I’ve been using staff as a secondary weapon for ages and didn’t trait greater marks and did just fine before so for me it’s simply an awesome buff. I can see why you feel crippled by this if you’ve felt you had to use greater marks to make the staff usable but imo it works fine. I’m primarly using staff in wvw and I have no problems there either, guess I’m lucky I never got myself used to greater marks as a standard…
Don’t waste time with clerics at high end fotm, run zerker, make sure u have spotter trait and frost spirit/stone spirit w/ 70% proc rate trait, rest up to you. Weapon sets should include 1h sword ( make sure you have auto attack turned off) /warhorn, longbow /sb at the very least. Your most powerful utilities include entangle and muddy terrain. These two do not need any traits in traps, the aoe immobi is excellent for places like dredge and fire shaman, along with ascalon.
I actually did pretty much what you said there Swiftpaw, thanks for the verification
I went with zerker and 30/20/5/15/0 with spotter, the spirit trait, switching between piercing arrows and longer range on longbow (for bosses) and keep a longbow and sword/warhorn.
Not sure exactly what to pick in the skirmishing traitline though. I went with companions might and quick draw, maybe there are better options?
Thank you Durzlla, sounds reasonable
Hey!
The question is in the topic, what build do you use for high level fractals?
Really need some help here
Imo Deathwish is the greatest necro staff but to keep to topic yeah most of the legendaries are horrible. Would be sort of cool if all legendaries had different look depending on what class they’re soulbound to, i.e. the bifrost would not look the same on a mesmer and a necro.
Yes wells stack right now and they are highly used in WvW groups because of this. They were used before the last patch but now they are used 10 times more thanks to the insane necro buffs including the ability to AOE immob with tainted shackles, especially considered tainted shackles takes no channel time and cannot be stopped while also allowing the necro to continue doing other things.
aiming for a nerf in this thread as well ay? You can still dodge it just as it was stated in your own thread about tainted shackles.
I eat necros for breakfast, even without stuns.
And there we have it, necro’s isn’t OP and doesn’t need nerf!
My necros name is Malefic Venia, same as my GW1 necro was, I’m very content with that
Wow…so much kitten to read I can’t even bother to read it all… Some has made very valid points, others just whine.
Yes necros are better now, I wouldn’t call them OP but better. I’ve both played necro alot and played against them as other professions and imo it’s fine. Sure they could have skipped the fear on spectral wall, it’s enough on staff and DS imo but it’s not gamebreaking. The conditions are plenty and powerful but so is the engi or mesmers.
I have beaten plenty of necros in 2 ways…got plenty of condition removals or kill them before they kill you, with raw damage. I have ofc also been omgwtfpwned by alot of good necros but they/we are by no way unbeatable, far from it.
Ofc you’ll have a hard time facing conditions if you don’t trait at all for condition removal. Saying that mesmer tpvp build have to condition removal is just BS, there is not only 1 way to play the game, not even as mesmer… A D A P T ! Another profession gets more conditions in their build, change your own instead of complaining.
I agree with Azraeel on most points. However to take Unyielding Blast VI in soul reaping is imo a better choice than Vital Persistance II. I’ve tried both and I really like the aoe capability VI gives you if you just position yourself right. My rotation is almost the same as well but I use my wells just before I enter deathshroud to make their pulses crit every time.
I keep a staff as a secondary weapon but only uses it in specific fights where you HAVE to have 1200 range, otherwise I’m getting in close and personal and just dodge/use DS at the right time to survive (full zerker).
As for sigils on weapon I use superior sigil of flame on axe (to get some aoe on it) and superior sigil of bloodlust on both focus and staff. I also keep a spare focus with sigil of force on it to swap when bloodlust is full.
EDIT: forgot to say, I use the aforementioned 30/0/10/0/30 cause when I do use the staff, the bigger marks is really usefull and when I know I wont be using staff I switch it to Shrouded Removal VI to get another condition cleanse, great on the fire shaman fractal
(edited by Xhean.3452)
Hehe, I do alot of wvw on the ranger so that’s nice Khyoss
great advices guys! thank you very much.
gonna go GS then, got sword/dagger with my condition gear so it’ll be more of a change to pick GS over sword :P
okey, but the melee weapon doesn’t really matter? I mean does sword or GS scale the best with power?
Hey!
So as the title says, what weapons should a berzerker ranger rely on? Longbow/Greatsword?
thanks for the replies.
Does anyone have a copy of the berserker phantasm build?
Hey mesmers!
I’m not playing on my mesmer that much so I’m not 100% read up on it. I’m trying to find out what’s the best way to do CoF farm primarily, other dungeons as well ofc. I’ve searched the forum but haven’t found much about it.
I see people want berzerker mesmers so what’s the build they use?
Good advice on the stunbreaker jcbroe!
Will change to III and take the shout. Too bad empathic bond is so good, I see how it makes my life much easier (and longer) but I’ll miss piercing arrows alot
Thanks for your input Silverkung!
Do you think it’s a good idea to go 30/30/10/0/0 instead to get piercing arrows or 20/30/20 even. Makes it a bit more hybrid but lose out on 100-200 condition damage, the duration might make up for it, I don’t know.
What do you think about having some healing on trinkets, not worth it due to lack of healing abilities?
Tbh I don’t care if it would be “broken”, it is a really fun class I just wanna know a good way to do the best
Hey!
As stated in the topic I haven’t played much at 80 on the ranger, and most important not after the recent patch. I could use some help with my build. Currently I’m running Longbow and axes with 30/25/5/10/0 with berserker gear but I’m thinking of trying this:
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=VH;4wEFy-v2kDV-0;9k2;3TT9;217A37A2;3K-FAV;1NX8aNX8aM7lm0-qYU;2Q-V0_XeYk3q459WCk4R08;18ZM
Can someone with alot of experiance please look this over and come with suggestions.
I’m looking to do dungeons, fractals and wvw. In wvw I’m thinking about taking longbow instead of the melee weps.
Suggestions about pets is also welcome. I use red moa and fern hound atm for buffs.
I am very uncertain how spec this works in reality, got some thoughts about going marksmanship instead of WS to get piercing arrows and whatnot but I don’t know iif it’s the best move. To take healing power on some trinkets as I’ve done in that build is also a big questionmark. Is it needed? is it a waste? is it enough to make a difference?
Please help me
okey, gonna check out the runes. thanks for the tip Berner
Yeah just remember that you lose a lot of precision in valkyrie gear and adding cavalier trinkets will lower your crit chance further. Even in DS it’s nice to have guaranteed crits and without Fury it becomes hard without precision gear.
It’s all about your preference of course. ^^
The trinkets will not be touched, still zerker, it’s true can’t loose too much crit chance. The food will have to give precision as well to make up for it.
might stick 1 piece of cavalier somewhere just for the heck of it :P
okey, this helps alot. I’m not to worried about the healing, I got ways to get back up the thing is I don’t want to be oneshotted as soon as I miss a dodge, the mossman always tend to target me and if he hits me with his attack I go down
. Looks like I’ll be getting Valkyrie gear and stick with my zerk trinkets as I don’t want to miss out on too much damage. I do survive pretty well as a berserker so I think this will be enough.
Glad to get confirmed that vit boosts LF
Thanks for the replies!
I was thinking the same spoj, valkyrie has power as primary while cavalier has toughness. I was also thinking that with too much toughness you get more aggro as this is how it’s supposedly works. Was also thinking as Bajenalex that with only vit you drop fast anyway that’s why I have a hard time choosing.
I’ve seen people mention that vitality boosts your DS as well somehow but I have a hard time seeing this. Is it true?
