Yet, we’ve had Zhaitan that’s done plans and tactics when it came to attacking The Pact. And we have no evidence saying that a god can contain or manipulate an elder dragon.
Apologies, been away for a few days – so might’ve missed the, if any, discussion – and! I don’t want to sound like a whinging basterd, but…
That’s it?
It was stated in the patch preview thread that that wasn’t all that was being covered in the patch.
Edit: Added the quote from the patch preview thread
I would like to know if Sigils that have ‘on crit % apply effect’ of two different types can be used together.
As for the thief, do people really use the with off hand empty it gets overwritten when you slot anything in the off hand slot when you use the main and secondary weapon slot. It would be nice if with off hand empty would get a skill for the 4th and 5th slot on the skill bar instead of a blank spots
For the first question: Sigils that have different effects can indeed be used together. Sigil of Fire can be used in conjunction with Sigil of Air.
As far as the ‘Offhand Empty’ skills go, these abilities were designed for new characters that have yet to gain an off-hand weapon and I wouldn’t count on these sets being changed anytime soon. Thanks for the suggestion though!
I added an edit in the original post explaining why the notes are being posted currently. I’ll post it here too:
“Most of these notes are simply a summary of what was discussed in the previous Ready Up stream, with a few tweaks based on feedback. This list of changes does not encompass all changes that will occur in the next feature build. We’ve got quite a few more things coming, but are unable to talk about them at this time. Soon.”Thanks for the feedback all!
Also, another change that wasn’t in ready up but is new to the list:
Ranger:
- Keen Edge: This trait is now classified as a Survival Skill.
(edited by Xukavi.4320)
The Keen Edge trait being under Survival Skills should mean it gets CD reduction from the Survival Skill CDR trait. It’s something a lot of people have been asking to get fixed.
Viper’s Nest becoming a combo field was also something that people were asking for, this should bring some nice uses for that skill now.
I brought up the idea of Dhuum and Menzies being the reason behind Scarlet when she went into the experiment. If you like we could continue that discussion in the Thoerycrafting about Scarlet as to make all discussion about possibilities for Scarlet unified in one thread.
Yes I love the thread you started. And when I was researching more info on Dhuum and Menzies I came across some curios info that I will post on your thread soon.
Well, in all honestly I didn’t start that thread but we’ve been discussing theories around Scarlet there. I merely just brought up the idea of Dhuum and Menzies being involved, credit for the creation of the thread belongs to someone else

According to the wiki, the Personal Story took 1 year to finish in game. The Living Story started afterwards and it’s been a year already since the Living Story started.
Im all for slowly rebuilding the place, while keeping that little piece of history that we were the part of, intact.
But with that happening, i cant shake the feeling that other forgotten parts of the game will feel even more stagnant in comparison. Like the miners east of Ebonhawke still talking about a sinkhole where the Collapse used to be. Or the entirety of Orr. Or that lonely little renown heart in Snowden drifts, with that one charr still repairing the same wagon since release!
The problem with making a world that shows the progress but isn’t instanced is the exact point that you talked about regarding Orr. Unless they make all of Orr instanced to those that completed the story, they can’t show progress of the land healing because it would spoil it for new players/characters.
@Draxynnic: Not sure if it was posted in this thread or not, but I did change my view on when the journal was written to be starting during the months of preparations before the experiment with a turning point in the journal happening during and after the experiment.
@Gnat: What he said makes perfect sense since in the Journal she stated she was losing control of herself.
I don’t really think of using the abaddon fractal as a reasoning for my theory, but it itself is a theory that no matter which path we chose we’d end up with the same ending. That is the only reason I brought up the fractal honestly.
The way I see it, the coming of Dhuum shouldn’t be taken as society isn’t prepared to fight them, but of the implications that it might cause. Dhuum returning would most probably see him wanting to have revenge on the gods (at least Grenth). Not only would that be a confirmation for all races of the gods’ existence, it could be the foundation to branching out and figuring out what happened to the gods since Nightfall. Would be even crazier if Dhuum is tied to the Sylvari race in a way.
I understand that it’s content light but I don’t believe Anet is dumb to want to justify lore related ties for the new WvW map to Scarlet unless it there’s something behind it. If they wanted it tied to lore with no grand reasoning they might as well have just said that the races of tyria found new places in the mists for heroes to do battle.
Edit: Corrected Abaddon. Funny thing is I always right it Abaddon at first then go back before posting and edit it to Abbadon
@Konig: The video says that there was a place that was untouched by Scarlet and chaos till now, and that place was the edge of the mists (or mists in general could be argued). This imo makes it sound that she wants to do something in the mists.
(edited by Xukavi.4320)
@Durzlla: Like Konig said, I’ve read into it to try and find out if he was there or not. All the reading pointed towards that he was the new god of Death before the Fall of Abbadon so he should have been there instead of Dhuum.
@Bruno: Well I honestly don’t have anything to point towards him (at least not something that can evidently say Dhuum) but like you said, nothing to really rule him out. Some points I thought of have lore reasonings and some are just for the sake of the game.
-Scarlet is trying to find something or someone in the mists given the latest details that she’s gonna be in the Edge of the Mists
-We know that Dhuum isn’t dead and he’s tried to escape his imprisonment multiple times.
-We know he allied himself with Abbadon and Malzier ( I think his name was that), the somewhat twin brother of Balthazar.
-If we were to consider that Anet would go for the same ending regarding the living story regardless of which fractal we chose they could’ve ended it with Abbadon talking to Dhuum regarding their alliance. If they wanted to shoehorn Scarlet here, it would be more direct about her trying to find Dhuum
- From a lore perspective, this would give Anet a way to give us The Underworld which would make a lot of fans happy.
-This would somewhat adhere to the Pale Tree’s words to Scarlet saying that society isn’t ready for what she was going to unleash.
Ok now this might be a really wild theory, but given how Scarlet is invading the mists. What if the entity that is calling out to her is Dhuum? Just a thought that came to mind.
Idk was what she was hearing in all caps?
HAHAHA ok that was a good one. But in all seriousness it could be him. Would actually somehow fit with the other fractal we could’ve chosen. The fall of Abbadon. Dhuum did ally himself with Abbadon to try and free himself from his prison after all.

It was definitely part of the Nightmare Tower team’s plan that we would return to that map and show the progression of the cleanup efforts. I can’t say what the timetable is for that, as it’s mostly an environment art task, but I’ll try my best to keep it in the discussion when we’re talking about future content releases. :-)
That’s good to hear. Maybe something like showing the progress as some stuff gets rebuilt in the time between the living story season 1 and 2, where at the start of season 2 (or some time during it) the zone gets somewhat rebuilt. It could even happen over multiple phases, so first update will show that they’re starting to rebuild (could even be through some events where players help NPCs gather items or rebuild some stuff). Second phase could show some parts completed in a different patch and the NPCs moving to a new part to rebuild.
Am I the only one who thinks the Nightmare court are minions to Mordremoth and like Amineo said the dragon at the start was one of his/her/its offshoots!
That theory has been around since before Guild Wars 2 even launched. Just thought I’d let you know.
You guys do realize that Omadd was her mentor before she even went through the experiment. He found her when she was studying alchemy with the Hylekk and told her about the experiment. Sure the fact that she used his name as a password might make it lean towards the journal being written after the experiment, but she knew him before that. If anything, I believe this was written during the months of preparation for the experiment itself.
It’s not new this patch, but the guy by Jormags Tooth in Hoelbrak has a bit more info on Scarlet from when he mentored her.
That part on Scarlet’s been there at least before this patch release.
That’s exactly what I said in the post
Oh my bad I read that as he has new stuff to say.
Pale Tree has new dialogue
Where do you talk to the Pale Tree at?
Go to The Grove (sylvari main city) and there should be a pod that takes you up to where she is. Same place you go to when you do the Personal Story mission to talk to her.
Wasn’t the Bazaar of Four Winds also revolving around some elements. Weren’t they also related to Glint?
You do know that it was blatantly said in the short story that when she saw the thorny vine in the experiment, she then became that thorny vine wrapped around the pale tree..
It’s not new this patch, but the guy by Jormags Tooth in Hoelbrak has a bit more info on Scarlet from when he mentored her.

The issue with this is that at the end of the journal, she gives into the force.
She gives into the force? I didn’t get that impression at all. How did you come to this conclusion?
I believe the part that she said that she stared back and saw what was looking at her and she was no longer afraid could be taken as giving into the force. I think the better question would be, what exactly is giving into the force? The way I see it, she was just afraid of the entity and her losing control over herself, and now she’s not afraid of either.
After reading the short story and listening to Scarlet’s Journal again, I think that it takes place fully after the experiment. During the short story, there is no mention of any entity. In fact, the only mention of anything she saw was the Pale Tree and the “truth” about it. This “truth” let her understand the grand design behind the Sylvari and presumably their purpose. The experiment though showing her all this left her exposed or broken which in turn led to the nightmares she started talking about in her journal. This also led to that entity trying to control her as she claims in the journal.
I believe there’s two parts to Scarlet: The first is her ordinary self trying to figure out what is happening to her and trying to find this entity. The second is herself losing control of what she does, in which case this entity is responsible for her actions. I don’t think she’s let it take control over her fully, but when she said she felt power and she’s not afraid anymore I think that’s exactly the case. She started having Nightmares and felt herself losing control over herself. This caused her to be afraid of that event. Once she confronted the Entity, she was no longer afraid of losing control over herself. This doesn’t necessarily mean that she never has control over her actions anymore imo, just that sometimes she does lose control and she has stopped being afraid of that happening.
@Elysian: From my perspective, she came out of the experiment not wanting either Dream nor Nightmare. Later on she started getting these Nightmares that changed how everything was going for her.
(edited by Xukavi.4320)
I have a question though this is a real stretch. Let’s say that the entity in Scarlet’s Dreams was Mordremoth. In my opinion it seems that she doesn’t want to be under the influence of said entity and doesn’t want her “destiny” decided by it. Given the new drill machine with a portal attached to the top. What if she decided that it’s best to turn the two fates (can’t remember how she worded it in the short story) against each other. Could she be trying to dig her way to Primordus and using the portal to move him to where Mordremoth is located? This would achieve two things:
1- Putting the two fates against each other (drawback of this is how Primordus can be considered a fate anyways)
2- Hopefully getting rid of Mordremoth if the dragons aren’t really allied together.
This would go with what the pale tree told Scarlet that society isn’t ready for what she wants to achieve. Again like I said, it’s just random wild thought that came to mind.
But my friend you have forgotten this line in what Scarlet Saw: “But I see the flaws in that design. My people don’t have to take what we’re given, or be what we were “born to be.” No people do. We can change the rules…well, I can. And I’m going to.”
Also adding to that is this part: “But I reject that call. I reject the notion that I must choose the Dream or be lost to Nightmare. The forces that push us this way or that can be redirected. They can be set against one another to the detriment of both, and now I know how.”
Well she does literally say: “We can change the rules…well, I can.”
This could also be interpreted as Scarlet changing the rules just for herself, and not for all her people. It could be argued that Scarlet no longer identifies herself as part of the Sylvari. And it would match the self-centered behavior we’ve seen of her up to this point.
The way I see it is that she wants change for all sylvari and that she believes she’s the one that can create this change bec of what she now knows.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t the Sylvari learn from the teachings of the Ventari Tablet? In which case, morality comes from the teachings but is spread by the Dream of Dreams. You’re correct that they’re not tied to the Sylvari race as a whole, Malyck did lack the dream.
Edit: According to the information in game on the Ventari tablet, it states that it serves as a moral foundation for the Sylvari
I was more meaning the fact how the Dream are “free to chose” their moral standing, while the Nightmare are forced into a moral standing. Even then, most Dreamers are in fact much kinder than Soundless or Malyck.
Not going to respond to the rest because quite frankly, I am sick and tired of “sylvari are dragon minions!!!”
I know, I know…but I didn’t mean they aren’t directly dragon minions per say. Think of it this way, seeds were meant to be grown into trees that give birth to free-willed Sylvari (as we have Sylvari like Malyck that aren’t part of the dream). One tree (Pale Tree) figures that there’s a threat that will be corrupting Sylvari (Mordremoth) and decided to act against it with The Dream of Dreams.
In other words put simply, The Pale Tree is brainwashing Sylvari through the Dream of Dreams for the greater good of not being corrupted by Mordremoth, which is happening through the Nightmare. The Pale Tree accepts sorrowfully that the Nightmare and by extension the Nightmare court must exist. Scarlet in turn found out about this and didn’t want either for the Sylvari, she wanted them freed from both Dream and Nightmare.
She doesn’t want the Sylvari to be a part of neither, she believes that they should be in control of their own lives. In both cases stated (Dream or Nightmare) they aren’t.
Or she believes that SHE should be in control of her own life. I have yet to see any signs that Scarlet is concerned about anyone but herself.
But my friend you have forgotten this line in what Scarlet Saw: “But I see the flaws in that design. My people don’t have to take what we’re given, or be what we were “born to be.” No people do. We can change the rules…well, I can. And I’m going to.”

Edit: According to the information in game on the Ventari tablet, it states that it serves as a moral foundation for the Sylvari
I know the Origins of the Sylvari are from the trees, but the origins of the trees are the seeds themselves. One of those seeds was stolen from a cave which we have no idea where it is (as far as I know). What if those seeds were there in preparation for Mordremoth’s rise? The trees from the seeds would inevitably be corrupted by him and used to spawn his minions. This would lead to a Glint like theory where the Pale Tree is trying to stop the corruption from happening. Now my theory is that the Pale Tree knows that inevitably Mordremoth will try to corrupt the Sylvari (which would be clearly linked to the Nightmare Court). She tried to fight the corruption by creating the Dream of Dreams. Think of it as the anti-Dragon corruption. It works in the same way only trying to take Sylvari away from Mordremoth.
Now this is where the theory gets really wild. Scarlet saw the truth behind all this during her little experimental trip. Sylvari are all bound inevitably to either of two fates: 1) Being a part of the Dream of Dreams and fighting on the Pale Tree’s side. 2) Being part of the Nightmare and fighting on Mordremoth’s side. Which both fit perfectly into her saying “Now do you see? If you are not one with what you were born to be, you are lost. Worse, you are dangerous.”. If she’s not with the Pale Tree she is susceptible to be with Mordremoth. Sylvari from the pale tree were meant to be anti-dragons. Also, “So much makes sense now. The Pale Tree, the Nightmare Court, Caithe and Faolain…it’s all part of a grand design." and Scarlet saying that she’ll put an end to it. She doesn’t want the Sylvari to be a part of neither, she believes that they should be in control of their own lives. In both cases stated (Dream or Nightmare) they aren’t.

I would like to recall some things from the “What Scarlet Saw” short story and see how it fits with our updates on the story so far. Some parts of the story stand out, though I still can’t make full connections with what’s going on in the story so far.
When Scarlet was in Omadd’s machine she heard the Pale Tree’s voice saying: “Stop, my child. Please: go no further. In seeking to comprehend the forces that shape us, you will unleash them. Society cannot withstand that.”.
What forces is the Pale Tree talking about? What exactly does she mean by shape us? At first glance when you read it, you’d think shaping means defining how they act. Which as far as we know, what defines the morals, for lack of a better word, of the Sylvari are the teachings of the Ventari tablet. BUT, that wouldn’t make sense with the following part that says ‘you will unleash them. Society cannot withstand that.’
We know that Ceara went into the machine and came out someone different, now this lends some credit towards the theory of the thorn vine being a sentient being. What if what happened is exactly what the Pale Tree told Ceara would happen. She would unleash them, and this is what led her tranformation into Scarlet Briar. We know that when she was in the machine she saw the thorn vines around the Pale Tree and she ended up becoming the vines themselves wrapped around the Pale Tree.
Fast forward a bit and then the Pale Tree tells Ceara this: “Now do you see? If you are not one with what you were born to be, you are lost. Worse, you are dangerous.”.
To me this feels more like Ceara found out more than anyone was supposed to know about the Pale Tree, the true origins behind the Pale Tree and then the Pale Tree turned on her deeming her dangerous.
Finally comes the part after Ceara’s transformation into Scarlet Briar: Scarlet giggled as she raised her hand to her face and watched the red thorn vine chase itself between her fingers. “So much makes sense now. The Pale Tree, the Nightmare Court, Caithe and Faolain…it’s all part of a grand design."
Now this brings up two points regarding this ‘Grand Design’, the first is that all four are meant to be part of a grand design playing a certain role. So the “shapers” (I’ll call them shapers as the pale tree said the forces that shape them) meant for there to be the pale tree and a nightmare court. The second part which ties in with the more recent living story updates, which is Scarlet saying that she knows Caithe’s secret.
Do we ever find out what Caithe’s Wyld Hunt is? What was her true purpose in the world? Some people assumed that the secret was Caithe and Faolain sharing feelings but this points that they’re both major parts in some grand design that no one yet understands or even notices.
One last addition though, is there any correlation between the thorn that Kasmeer was stung by and the thorn revolving around Scarlet? If the thorn vine was a direct relation to the shapers then we might have ourselves an infiltration through Kasmeer going on right now.
Are u trying to tell me that all the snow in LA wasn’t from “beyond the Wall” brought by mery men from the Black Watch and in fact it’s something common for winter events like IRL?
Winter does come, eventually.
Except to Texas and Florida. They don’t get snow, just hurricanes.
Egypt sends its regards. Winter may come, but not the snow.
There’s nothing wrong with what they said. They basically aimed at one thing when they compared what they wanted to achieve from the LS to what GoT did, and that’s creating suspense to finding out what happens next in the living story. They by no means compared the stories themselves. The only thing they compared was the complexity of the plots themselves. Game of Thrones has a complex plot with at least one plot twist each season. They wanted to achieve the same in a game with an ongoing story.
The ongoing story in question is The Living Story shown to us by The Living World. Some of the plot twists are how Scarlet was behind the Molten Alliance and the Aetherblades. If Anet is guilty of anything it would be that they had plot twists that played out wrong mainly because we don’t have a reasoning for those plot twists. Theoretically this has led to more speculation by the community, which is what they wanted to achieve which is a pro. The con is if the final plot twist that pulls everything together isn’t worthy of an epic status then the story itself failed.
Please before bashing people try to understand what they are saying. And to the OP, don’t bash something and disappear.
What if Scarlet’s Toxic Hybrid experimentation was done because she wants to do the experiment on herself and was testing it first. Would make sense if the part “it will sting, but brings me joy” is referring to herself.
The way I see it:
‘Thump, Thump.’ – Reference to the Do Not Touch “Thumpers”
‘Time to jump.’ – Not sure might not exactly have a certain meaning
‘Wipe all resistance from your mind’ – Could go one of two ways. Either she’s talking about us resisting her plans and fighting against her. Or maybe the sylvari resisting the nightmare.
‘There’s a secret deep below to find’ – At first I thought Primordus but the ED aren’t related to the LS according to others so I believe this has to do with the Molten Alliance. Or a new threat that is possibly greater than the ED
‘If you’d only seen the things I’ve seen’ – Reference to what she saw during the experiment.
‘You’d wake up screaming from The Dream’ – Also reference has to do with what she saw since after she got out (or during I can’t recall) the pale tree was telling her that she didn’t understand what she saw.
‘This next part will sting, but it brings me joy’ – Reference to Kasmeer (was it her) being stung at the end of the tower story. Could also be a reference to the Sylvari being cut off from the dream.
‘Sometimes to change you must destroy’ – She wants to destroy the Pale Tree to free the Sylvari race from the Dream of Dreams
‘A fire is rising you cannot contain’- I actually believe this might not be a reference to her schemes but something about what she saw hinting at a different threat than the Elder Dragons. Or she will attack us from underground using the Molten Alliance.
‘Tyria will burn, while I remain.’ – I think she believes that said threat will burn (wipe out) Tryia and she’s been using her experiments to try and find a way to overcome that. Or she’s just saying like in that last poem that she’ll cause chaos and Tyria will burn.
One point that came to my mind if we take the point that she’s the threat and not something else that’s bigger that she knows about. is that the “Do Not Touch” thumpers and the line “A fire is rising you cannot contain” might be pointing to something interesting. What if she’s using the Dredge to create tunnels throughout Tyria and the Thumpers (Do not touch pillars) are actually there for exit points from said tunnels for her Molten Alliance?
Theoretically speaking here, if one was able to regain all the bloodstones and the center keystone, wouldn’t that person be able to reunite the parts together to make it whole again. If that’s possible, wouldn’t you be able to release the magic the 5 gods resealed into them and allow the world to use magic more freely causing people to plunge into chaos again? Also, would that have an effect on the elder dragons since now there’s more magic around int the world.
Fun idea, this could somehow tie into professions learning new skills because the magics are more freely used
Could it be possible that she is using the “Do not Touch” Pillars to try and track the locations of the bloodstones in order to use them? Just a thought that came to my mind.
Remember it wasn’t built sunken. The Vizier got all petty and said no one plays with my toys but me and sunk it so enemies couldn’t have it. Which does beg the question of just how you sink a large land mass that is presumably an upthrust of the ocean floor … anyway, nothing says it’s floating thanks to Zhaitan, just that the dragon gave it the upward boot to undo the Vizier’s spell, albeit with plenty of leftover sea damage.
Actually the Vizier had no intention of sinking Orr, he was using a magic spell found in some ancient scrolls as defense against the invasion which ended up causing Orr to sink.
I think she’s trying to find something, but what I’m don’t know. I doubt she’s trying to awaken an elder dragon. Maybe she’s trying to locate the elder dragons, maybe mordremoth or priomordius, hell maybe even the bloodstones. We do know that:
-Bubbles is somewhere in the unending ocean.
-Primordius is still underground and his forces are being held at bay by the dwarves since GW1
-There is a 6th Elder Dragon (Mordremoth) that is still somewhere to be seen
-Kralkatorric is near the Crystal Desert so we know his location
-Jormag is in the Far Shiverpeaks.
I dunno why everyone assumes all rangers just level up with a bear, i personally leveled up from 1-80 using mainly my starter wolf (as norn) and my secondary pet was switched between : snow leopard, drake and fern hound. Never once used a bear except when I got it I tried the skills it had. When I got to 80 and found out how underperforming bows were (after SB nerf) I just stopped playing my ranger bec. the playstyle I wanted was ranged bow dps.
i think the dragons who are said to awaken in cycles work as a safe measure against magick abuse, they awaken and cosnume all the magin in tyria in cycles so as to restore the balance,so perhaps the gods granted magic and tyrias denizens abuse it again and so the dragons work to restore balance,by fighting the dragons we are actuall doing a bad job without knowing and Scarlet may have seen this and works to restore the balance aswell and be a little crazy cuz that info might have been too much too
If I understand you correctly, then that logic is somewhat flawed since the Dragons were around way before the gods came to Tyria. At the time they were also consuming all the magic and wreaking havoc around the world. The gods didn’t actually grant magic to Tyria, the magic was there when the bloodstone was made by the seers. What the gods did was someone allow more free use of the magic in Tyria through the bloodstone. This ended with King Doric pleading them to take it back and then they did and broke the bloodstone into 5 pieces, one for each of the schools and a fifth as a keystone using King Doric’s blood.
I checked the Chantry of Secrets, once I got in I got the cutscene icon above my head for a second then it just disappeared and nothing of interest was really found. I haven’t been there since I actually joined so I really don’t know if anything is new there. Big globe with golden lines and spots all over the place, and seems like they have news paper machines printing stuff out. Other than that nothing special being said.
What if Scarlet’s plan all along was really to distract us with all this making alliances and causing havoc in order to buy time for her real intentions: Finding a way to wake Mordremoth (6th Dragon) from his slumber in hopes of becoming his champion. From being around the thaumanova reactor she started understanding the implications of chaos magic and dragon magic and now she’s somehow using the “DO NO TOUCH” devices to locate the last dragon in an attempt to wake him up earlier than it’s time.
So I just checked out the war room, can’t get any talk out of any of the npcs there. Only significant thing being said was Efut saying she’s a genius when she was being told that a direct attack on an enemy she doesn’t know is not a good idea
Well once again, thank you all for the insight on the matter. I honestly love the GW lore, especially since some of it is a mystery which we can only speculate on.
Interesting find indeed, is there any dialogue from the warmaster? Also that would kinda fit well with the zephyr sanctum talking about Glint which could lead us to Elona.
Would you please fix pet names? It’s been bugged the entire life of the game so far……when you name the 2 pets you want to have out they stay named as long as you KEEP them your pets forever, if you switch them out they go back to being the default “Juvenile Whatever” OR what happens is the same name is applied to another pet of the same type…for example if i named my grey wolf “Sparky” and then flipped him out for my alpine wolf he would also be named “Sparky”. I know it’s probably low priority but i just leave all my pets unnamed now…..kinda silly.
Thanks for the consideration.
This has possibly less to do with being a bug than actually how the mechanic is essentially flawed. The pet is treated as an NPC including its behavior and AI. How it works pretty much, if I understand it correctly, is that every time you choose a pet you choose a copy of that pet taken from the actually mob. In terms of coding and programming you’re basically inheriting the pet’s statistics and info from the pet’s family + model of the actual mob in the world causing the name reset. To fix this, Anet would essentially have to redesign how the pet mechanic works which is why they’re stalling on fixing anything to do with the pets.
Ok, first off thank you for the awesome info. Also I had no idea he (yes the Jotun) was in from the start of the game.
Well going by that info, what he says of the humans first coming from the sea is true since they did come from Cantha (that much I knew before hand). It all fits except this part:
“In the beginning, humans lived like grawl. The gods had not yet noticed them. Their magic was primitive: fire, earth, air and water. My jotun ancestors helped them survive.”
When asked what happened next:
“Humans collected on the high plains. Tribes became settlements. Settlements became a kingdom. And that was when the gods noticed them and betrayed the Jotun.”
That just totally doesn’t make sense unless by gods he means the seers but I highly doubt that. Also he states that the Norn and the Jotun were both there in the Age of Giants but he could possibly be referring that after the Giganticus Lupicus were extinct to still be the Age of Giants.
Well guys I know the short answer would be simply this guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about or he’s lying for attention by the norn. Worst case its misinformation on his side. But we should also consider that (in some other dialogue on the wiki I found) he claims to be one of the very last story tellers of his people (possibly the Jotun as he noted their storytellers have been dwindling till one per generation) and claims to have knowledge he wanted to share with the Norn (specifically Knut).
I know the humans come from the south and then settled Tyria, what just really confused me was the part saying that the gods hadn’t noticed the humans til later one in the timeline when they got more developed when it was stated before that the gods were the ones that brought the humans to Tyria in the first place. Also GW1 wiki at least says that the gods created the bloodstone or was that inaccurate ( I remember you brought that up before Konig I just don’t remember the citing).
Does anyone know how long he’s been in game?
So as far as I know, wasn’t it the gods that brought the humans to Tyria? There’s an NPC Jotun in Hoelbrak next to the Fang of the Serpent called Thrulnn the Lost (relatively new I guess since I haven’t noticed him before). He has an interesting story about the gods. He says that the gods “once favored the giants, the jotun” and gave them magic and knowledge of magical and mechanical things. Then they took it away bec. they were afraid they’d use it against them. This caused the jotun to get confused and started the fights between the kings. He then says that they took magic away from them totally and handed it in little bits to their favorite races. The next part is what confuses me, when asked about the humans this is what he has to say:
They came on boats from across the great sea and stuck to shores at first then moved inland towards the mountains. They first lived like grawls using primitive magic (fire, earth, water, air) at that time the gods had not noticed them and they were being helped by the Jotun ancestors to survive. He says that afterwards the humans went from tribes to settlements to kingdoms and then the gods betrayed the Jotun.
Also, did we ever know that the Norn were living back in the Age of Giants?
“With the turmoil in Elona and the spread of the Order of Whispers into other lands, more Paragon teaching showed elsewhere in Tyria. These teachings melded with other traditions, and over time, the guardians and their abilities can be found throughout the world and among all the races. They are not tied to a particular race, philosophy, or group of gods but rather to a larger concept of proactive defense, of taking the fight to a foe and protecting those you fight alongside while appealing equally to humanity’s defensive nature and the charr’s desire to rule the battlefield.”

Welcome to pet AI, using the F2 can be pretty disappointing sometimes.
