The Only section?? It doesn’t even begin, read this then
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancerI know the warrior has it’s share of problems but keep the facts right guys, there is at least this one profession worse off in many ways.
If you actually think that what we are seeing is bad customer service, I really start to wonder if you even thought about what you were saying. These devs take time out of their day to come on live streams as guests, they take time out to watch tournaments and podcasts, and talk with people during them. They are taking an intelligent approach to fixing the game, one that is shown to be effective by far more popular games, and an approach that in the end makes the game much more enjoyable to their customers: us.
If you want examples of bad customer service, or completely ignoring consumer base, then you don’t need to look far to find far more impressive examples of not caring at all for their customers.
You forget the part where they are getting paid for it. The examples of bad customer can be many but one does not excuse the other.
It’s something they are still working on, it was just a base for some upcoming future content but they haven’t really gotten around to using it for anything just yet. It will most probably be tied to the housing system in the future.
That content Wildstar already beat it to!? xD
Thank you? I’m not the kind sorry but I have another way of showing my appreciation, that is in my early box and gem purchases. Frankly I see it as a professional customer relations by having fellow customers & my own criticism which I always take care it’s always given in good faith & constructive looked into & addressed within reasonable time. I’m afraid this simply hasn’t happened enough, at least now interaction has been ramped up a bit & this may bide well but we will see.
heh!! and I taught I’d never see the day. Now let’s see how quick they’ll implement these changes before I’m roaming with another Necromancer, somewhere else.
Thanks guys, we’ll fix it.

Thank you that’s highly appreciated, mind you mine was a brewing thought out of frustration not a specific idea yet but seriously, just looking at the simply non balance affecting issues please? I mean, non swimming elite minion, is that so hard? why not!? At least! For starters! :/
“Its a bug yes, it works for us, we’re letting it be” – Usual..
Please refer to the thread I made in the game bugs forum and put a post there: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/May-28-post-patch-necro-staff-mastery-bug/first#post2107060
Staff mastery works with Greater marks, just tested it.
It’s not working for me in heart of the mists right now, Ima try and relog.
Nope, still not working.
Alright in all fairness I took a look at it in PvE…
With Greater Marks/Staff Master traited together

Wothout Staff Mastery
http://i.imgur.com/l3hwyNU.jpg
Tests in PVP confirmed the same for me…
Probably I read into it incorrectly… I dunno
Perhaps the time is coming for an ingame protest but I don’t know how others would agree because this is getting over the top now.
Staff Mastery doesn’t work with Greater Marks anymore -.-
That basically makes every staff build unusable… worst patch ever!
You mean the CD does not get reduced?
Went back to my terror build where I had greater marks + staff mastery and yes, staff mastery does not work with greater marks in that if you have greater marks and take staff mastery, you won’t get the reduced CD. Great bug fixing, all the more proof to think that our class code is an abomination. And here i was having fun with my build.=(
Staff mastery works with Greater marks, just tested it.
If it takes 9 months to fix a tooltip, gonna most likely take 5 years to fix some actual gameplay related bug. Minion AI fix is a possibility in 10 years.
They basically narrowed the Necro to a single effective build all around.
Underwater necro?
Staff/Lich form/Trident Basically… Lich form with greater marks in PvP feels overkill to me! WTF? oO
They basically narrowed the Necro to a single effective build all around.
11) When you find yourself fearing water because the Flesh golem cannot swim while his lesser siblings can!
Honestly I think the only people that leave necros and other classes out of dungeons are warriors that resent the fact that their ungaunga class and way of playing is pretty much useless for doing serious stuff like pvp.
Another stuff that is great for dungeons are the wells that corrupt boons and the one that converts conditions into boons. The second one alone can raise the dps of a party more than another warrior in a lot of circumstances.
You’re so very wrong about the warrior statement, take in fact that many do pve content before switching to pvp, you assume the opposite.
Secondly how many boons do you meet in dungeon, I seriously doubt how ridicolous you statement sounds. Very few mob get/steal boon & even these account for very insignificant number to make them gamechangers, why do you think most necros rely on epidemic instead!
Perhaps the game is intentionally shaped in way to make sure Necro numbers are kept down; but this is just a theory.
Forget it, I marked their words when they said, “oh weapon swap stopped working, it bugged, it was unintended but we’re leaving it this way” – SOTG. You really expect them to change their minds? In full or in part?
It’s a game in the end so play whatever rocks your both, despite it’s shortcoming the Necro has some potential in PvE if used well, above all if you enjoy it go for it. I can tell you one thing, that is the Necro taught me how to be very intricate with builds
The problem with having Siphon with a flat base value is not balance but rather the mechanic because it contradicts every other attribute mechanic in the game where each has armor dependencies., I’d rather see it streamlined with the rest even if this had to lower the base value.
I see a way of having Life siphon scaling in two way much like Precision vis-a-vis Critical dmg or Condition dmg vis-a-vis Condition duration. In the case of Life siphon it should be -Dmg/per/Siphon- vis-a-vis -Healing/per/Siphon- where focusing on one would reduce the other while the scale of having them in the same value would be the number to balance vis-a-vis just as it’s don’t with every other attribute in the game.
By all mean as you may be reading in the last paragraph I give consideration on not seeing Life siphons get out of hand & become OP by suggesting Counter-limiting dual factors as there exist with practically all other values again, I feel streamlining is a the core of the issue here, in fact I really see no way to balance Life siphon with base value because really with all professions ever-changing in balancing with which or watch is one scaling!? This question is not a matter of debate I want to get into but more a pause of reflection.

When you had mained a Necro, alting a Mesmer makes it your new main, no contest.
If it doesn’t get resolved in this patch (28th May), I am going to pursue the Words Can’t Express My Disappointment campaign and create a video for every bug on the list, starting with this one. Because this one has been around, and reported, and obvious for too long.
Then you can get to work, I thank you in advance sir!
It can and should be made better (made argument ad naseum) but it is quiet viable traited when coupled with power.
Look around the forum and practically 90% is about proposed changes, most of them which make real good sense and have been repeatedly listed ad naseum already.
There’s some necro hate going on here. I’ve been running my necro for ~5-7 months now(pretty much since release) and my build destroys people in PvE/WvW and tPvP. I also use this toon to command in WvW. Maybe I’m just an odd ball? I completely love the Necro. haha.
Does it?? Do you have a youtube channel full of proof?! Otherwise you’re a drunk troll who plays [insert profession here] who wants the Necro to keep eating dirt & dung.
Yes, it scales with healing. I heal for 297 per pulse, so if I remember it’s 9*297 healing.
IX Blood Magic heals for like 700hp. The great thing about it is that you can enter DS just for a moment and immediately leave it and it’ll heal minions.
2# staff heals for something like 300hp per second.
I also use Dwayna runes, the more regeneration, the better.
All of this with Cleric’s set.I would also suggest switching XII Death Magic to XI (I never use it but people say it’s good) or take last 10 traits from Death Magic and get more Blood Magic.

I use almost the same build /w clerics set with a minor but important difference, I threw my 5 on deathly strenght instead of deathly invigoration because in practice it’s heal is not as helpful as throwing 5% on all that toughness on power as for runes are concerned I honestly rather go with 6 sapphire as with Sapphire orbs you get more Healing(120) +toughness(84) + power(84), now what makes it a better option is that the build includes 2 bonuses where toughness feeds power and power feeds healing but for the rest I completely agree, it’s a great build to go with as far as it goes.
Here’s my version:

1. Running after people in plague form and pretend I’m a fart.
2. Switch to the Necro & use him as bait in WvW diversion tactic
3. Challenge people to fall contests.
4. Doing /Dance in Lich form.
5. Laugh hard at how I can take all my minions for a swim but leave back the mightiest one of them all.
And Necros are really fun to fight.
Says rightly every profession in WvW xD
Welcome to Guild Wars 2, now forget all you know about Necromancers in Guild wars 1 and start with a rinsed mind, Necromancers in Guild wars 2 are a different profession entirely. Now whether the Necromancer is any good is one of the biggest matter of debates on these forums but the general idea is that Necromancers are Great/OK in PVP and Mediocre/Bad in PvE/WvW.
Doing 20+confirm kills and drop 1 badge…. I’ll put my account on the line, Devs can check my records
Wells are in the Blood Magic tree (as they synergize with daggers and life stealing, also in that tree), with ranged wells (useless to dagger users going into blood magic) in Curses, where a ranged player would be going.
Ranged wells are useless to Dagger users? As one who would opt for a Dagger/Focus Staff, with a Siphon/Wells build, I find your remarks both outrageous and silly.
(edited by Yendorion.2381)
Allow me to add: I’ll never stress these points enough.
Life siphon need to in minimal be affected by Healing power (2%??) besides it’s current base level which I suppose are good, as it stand it’s sub-par to the damage it does.
Vampiric Rituals – Siphons from pulses NEED to affect allies standing on them, it still wouldn’t compare to the heal provided by the Well of Blood which on it’s count already has a 40sec CD.
P.S: I’m sick of getting asked about Deathly Invigoration, either clear up the tooltip or make it do as the tooltip says please!
ADDENDUM for KarlaGrey: I fully leveled a Necromancer, Mesmer & a Warrior in PvE. Out of them all I do PVP tournaments almost daily with the Necro, if you play PvE/WvW extensively you’d realise where the real dealbreaker problems lay with the Necro. Of course the Necro has a bunch of issues in PvP but most of them don’t come close in consequence they have elsewhere, in fact the Necromancer is the most PvP orienter profession of them all hands down.
(edited by Yendorion.2381)
I use Lich form in Guild events to /dance tbh xD
If you like the idea of minions, start a Mesmer. You’ll never go back.
“sPvP and SOLOED a Bunker Guardian and condition Necromancer AT THE SAME TIME”. I stopped reading there…
DeathShroud is OP, Next…
Not another of these troll threads, Temporal curtains radius is very reasonably sized.
Mesmers ARE the “minion” masters in this game, I used to main a necro and in PvE minions are more a liability then they are useful and not even close as useful as Mesmer illusions.
Necro’s law: Anything that will bomb the profession, will bomb the profession.
I may sound off tune but for all my complaints about the profession, I think many heavily underestimate the focus, I’m running a Clerics armor Power/Siphon build in PvE and I do extremely well with the reapers touch with it’s group regeneration ability also because I have a good degree of healing power and the Spinal shivers chilling + Boon stripping from boon stealing mobs.
Mesmers take a lot of skill to manage throughout dungeons and fractals but they are extremely strong and rewarding if played right, they really bleed synergy with combined with are profession skills. I’ve been running a full Zerg Mesmer with a little above 16k & I’m always fascinated at the stuff I can pull off, my point that the constant sense of awe this profession give you is just amazing.
The GW2 Necromancer? Oh hell no, This Necromancer is what Twilight’s Edward is to vampires.
standart gs/swfoc build
armor can change in knight/bers, if armor bers, trinkets can be knight/soldier/valkirif link dont work just copy>paste
Worth to note I use the identical build except I use full Zerg with Ruby orbs slotted.
Holey for Arenanet!! LOFL I told you so!
You are complaining as a Necro? Go make a Confusion Mesmer. THEN we will talk.
Pfft I have a Mesmer and I’m having no issues with the confusion changes (ONLY WvW NOT PvE), yes the practically killed the old confusion build in WvW (made Mes scepter useless) but they did give great alternatives. Less mantra cast time, stuns on staff #5, removed confusion caps, these are real biggies in WvW!!
Mesmers can adapt as I did, Necros are stuck in the same spot.

Our siphoning builds are actually pretty good, you just need to not consider it it’s own thing. Siphoning+regen+leech runes/sigils is going to be giving you a whole lot of health, which in combination with other things can keep us bunkering. But again, its a similar thing to what I said, you won’t bunker quite as well as guardians, but completely outdo them in damage (siphoning ignores armor).
In PvP they are actually, in PvE they are really ALMOST there, I know because I’ve run this kind of build extensively.
Constructive criticism is key here. Necromancers are great in PVP, but pretty much mediorcre in WvW/PvE which leads me to suggests to you to specify where the profession lack and how in your opinion it can be improved. There are places where I believe the profession can be improved all around both in PvP/WvW/PvE for example with my suggestion to add a small healing power coefficient to life siphon but most critism/suggestions are usually aimed for PvE and unless specified they may lead to a confusion by PvPer’s who may think it’s the Necro there which need the changes when in fact it’s not.
If you noticed in the SoTG ArenaNet said they were balancing PVP, some WvW (I believe) while disregarding the PvE consequences, while we have this clarification it indirectly left PvE Necromancers on the backburner and heavily disserviced, so I understand complaining from that point of view, it quite hard to euphemize it in anything else at this point.
I have both, Mesmer anywhere, more efficient for less effort.
Necro healing is not so good. I tried making one and was humbled by other professions. If you want to play support, go full conditions with wells and staff and scepter/dagger along with epidemic. Even if you do not do much damage, tossing condition AoE everywhere is like covering the ground in mud. It takes away a lot of mobility for the other server and leaves players open to high dps attacks.
Support Necro lays down cover-fire that does very little damage but can seriously mess up the enemy’s battle plan if your group has the dps to take advantage of the opponents’ reduced mobility.
The Necro doesn’t hold candle to the Ranger and Engineer in the role you explained.
We’ve gotten more fixes and upgrades in the past month or two than we have the entire life of the game. We’ve still got a very long way to go, but we’re in a much better place now. If you’re planning on waiting for every tiny kink to be worked out to the point they never have to balance necro again…yeah just go ahead and uninstall, cause it’s not going to happen. If ever there were a time to start jumping back into it, I’d say now is it. It’s gonna take you at least until next patches to dust off the cobwebs lol.
This right here, and currently we are one of the strongest tournament classes not named ele (who saw a nerf), Ranger (rarely played well). Guardians are not stronger, and Engineers are gimmicky. So currently we are better than Thieves, Warriors, and Mesmers, and in the same spot as Guardians and Engineers.
Ergo Necromancers should be a tPVP only Profession.
The patch with the new DS skill will be the necro focused patch. Just wait for that guys. Hopefully downed hp will be fixed next month seeing as its a bugfix patch. Signet of spite wasnt bad for an extra boost in power on a zerker build. Now its even better. Obviously you dont use the active. Although Blood is power is still better unless your group can give you those might stacks instead.
Dream on.
