Sea of Sorrows

Maybe you should consider your facts more wisely before aimlessly defending a broken profession.
‘Learn to play’ is in no way a constructive responce towards the current isues faced with the Ranger.
Let me guide you to the right direction. See the first sticky in the ranger section? The thread called ‘Ranger Bug List’?
Yea. You might want to check that out. The list is literally 1 metre long.

CarighanWould you care to comment on the post above yours?
I would defend my statement. But that will just amount to thousands of useless words that will never be agreed upon by people who think that spirits are actually viable
I’ve had my fair share in this so called spirit build. It’s boring and more of a hindrance to the ranger than an actual help. The fact that you need a trait for them to follow you around is stupid. The fact that they die with the slightest touch is completely dumbfounding. The fact that the spirit’s abilities alone can not compensate for its lacking in defence. Need I say more?
Even if you don’t want the spirits to follow you around, the play-style of a ranger is to move around the area of the map as much as possible. How is having your spirits placed in a specific spot be of any help to you? What you think you can simple just stand still with your spirit hoping the enemies come to you? They simply cannot defend themselves while your ranger is off hunting its prey. Besides, don’t you need its AoE buffs/debuffs with you at all times?
And how long are you willing to risk your spirit just standing there by itself hoping that it won’t be detected by your enemies.
For spirits to even be useful, you need that 30 point trait in Natures Magic. Otherwise how else are you going to control their AoE buffs and debuffs.
Let me make it perfectly clear.
Spirits have little to no Health Points whatsoever to even survive a single swing again’st an incompetent enemy. If you think they do. If you think they’re viable. Then your on your own.
If Anet would have given a slight boost in the spirits Health, I would of considered their usefullness. But despite the fact that they die as soon as you summon them makes the CD of the summoning skills a waste of space and time to invest on.
Sorry. Spirit Ranger is not my style.

Management would argue that the new content outweighs the issues with the Ranger Profession simple because of their profits and sales going up.
The priorities with this company is everything but organized, and every MMO company out there makes the same mistake.
The result? You lose your massive playerbase.
Don’t design a profession you can’t fix Anet. Itll save the customer’s time and money. Especially if new content is more important than fixing the bugs that has been clearly stated months on end by the community.
(edited by YumCHA.8706)
No. Spirits are useless. A waste of designed data space.
Even your pet alone can perform better, and that’s not even saying much for this ‘petclass’ of a profession.
Bug fixes first. Then we can talk about new implementations.
Spot on. Nice presentation.
Just use magic as an excuse. People tend to accept that fact since it makes so much more sense than purely lifting a heavy-weight object, whilst also swinging it.
The heavier the object, the harder to swing. Amiright?
/trollface.
Underwater battle is underrated. Most people prefer to fight on land. That’s a fact.
However in a PvE aspect, this doesn’t matter as diversity comes into play.
I don’t love my ranger. However I have fun using it.
If only and only then can they fix this profession to what it trully deserves, shall I start a relationship with my Ranger.
/sarcasm
That was kind of the joke behind it.
We only deserve as much considering nothing important was fixed, except a minor tweak to one greatsword skill.
But imagine the weight on that thing. Seriously.
Unless there’s some sort of ‘magic’ involved when wielding that greatsword, which is TOTALLY understandable… lol’d.
Besides, this profession never mentioned anything about using magic to wield heavy weapons.

The amount of tokens you get from these bags is so low. It’s like Anet didn’t even bother to care for how much people deserve to be rewarded after doing hours and hours of exploration on these dungeons.
Just please increase the amount. I’d be happy with 10-15 tokens per bag. More even if Anet is generous, which I highly doubt they are considering…. well you get the point.
Only ten bullets? Why not 100. It’s only fair.
How is a ranger able to wield a gigantic, humongous (8 ft long) sword? I mean really. I just don’t get you Anet. I really don’t.
Two days after the update patch notes and still no confirmation on whether ranger’s will get more fixes or even the ETA to the next update.
A simple
“We understand the anger and frustrations the ranger community has towards our decisions of the fixes concerning the ranger profession in the current update. The next patch will release in a week or so and will cover more profession fixes. Whether or not these fixes will be a core mechanic issue towards the Ranger Profession is to be decided by the Developer Team. Thank you for your patience.”
Would of been enough for me. Seriously.
All it takes is a little communication with the people just to assure them whats happening. Whilst also not putting peoples hopes up, a big mistake on Jon Peter’s part. An apology is more then enough.
(edited by YumCHA.8706)
Neither. Greatsword.
Reason #1: No rooting.
Reason #2: Melee damage, cus range damage is just fluff in comparison.
Barrage doesn’t provide enough threat to a group of enemies. Even if you had 5 groups of 5 rangers, there’s no way of pinning them down in that AoE of arrows. Unless some other zerg has them occupied into a different battle, then the rangers have their chance to shine.
The cripple debuff is laughable. Any halfwit can dodge their way out of the AoE or just simple walk out of it.
@swiftpaw
It’s all an excuse.
If they had spent all that time ‘fixing’ the other 7 professions, and these fixes were core issues might I add, then they surely had time to look through the core mechanics of the ranger profession, ESPECIALLY the pet.
Oh hey, this thread again.
I barely use this pet. This is the LEAST of my worries of whats wrong with the Ranger profession.
inb4 ranger’s becoming a decorative rather than a playable profession due to its buggy mechanics/skill issues/pet functionality etc etc etc etc etc.
Oh yea.
/inb4 infraction. lawls.
(edited by YumCHA.8706)
If the problem surrounded heavily on botting, why didn’t they deal with it in a legal matter? Seriously Anet.
Why does one profession be so important to change, when EVERYTHING was working fine. Just because of a botting mishap?
K.
/inb4 infraction.
@the title
You don’t say. Thanks for stating the obvious.
You can list all the suggestions you think is best for this class but the devs will NEVER take your ideas into account.
How many ranger suggestions have you seen being implemented into the game, ever since beta, launch and till now?
People have outstanding ideas waiting to be read, only to be wasted by utter silence.
(edited by YumCHA.8706)
Why not just sue the third part sites that allow botting in Guild Wars 2. How hard is that. After all, they have the money to afford it.
An assurance to us that they ‘actually’ fixed something, which wasn’t broken in the first place. Yet somehow bugged. I’m not buying it.
Besides. We’re back at the start with…. guess what. Nothing.
Greatsword tweak? Your still screwed at melee range.
Underwater fix? Did we ask for an underwater fix? No.
Spirit proc rate increased? lolwut. That doesn’t justify their survivability to begin with.Their HP is the main problem…. sigh.
If Ranger’s do not get an overhaul in the next couple weeks (not even, atleast the next couple days), My faith and trust towards this company will vanish.
/inb4 infraction.

Why bother. The pets barely have any points on it.
The traps are fixed. It’s back to normal.
Don’t thank them yet. We’re still back to square one. The core issues concerning the ranger profession is still untouched.
@neverborne
Agreed. They should just dedicate the next patch solely on rangers at this rate.
Traps are the ONLY utilites giving the best results for a Ranger. You would be unwise not to use them.
It works. Just tested it. Maybe you didn’t pick the ‘Trap Potency’ XI Trait. Also requires 30 on Skirmishing.
Don’t forget 4 and 5 for defensive measures. Well… 4 increases in damage as your target weakens in health.
“Soon…”
That’s what they’ll say.
@Hypergrip
Longbow is the least describable thing to ‘a good weapon’. Far from it. All those obstruction text bugs and the easy strafe misses makes it a horrindous weapon.
To be fair. Longbow is only good in PvE. At most. Why you ask?
Because the A.I targets don’t move as rapidly compared to a competitive player.
(edited by YumCHA.8706)
How can you be worried about a quiver when this Profession hasn’t been made any better?
Because you fell for the cheap ads the game sold towards the ranger class, hiding the fact that its the least prioritised concern to fix all the 9000 and 1 issues.
@Pvp
Pretty difficult it seems. I’m surprised when John Peter’s said there’s only TWO developers working throughout all the professions.
/lolwut?
Seems to me they’re understaffed in the ‘testing’ department, as pointed out by Jon Peters that they ran out of time.
For a pay to play game. I expected ALOT more from a company that makes a sequel to GW1. Alot more.
You would only expect these sort of issues to happen in a Free to play mmorpg. But sadly, it’s evident here also.
Cool story bro? :o
What is it with people writing in wall of texts. All it takes is a simple click of the ‘Spacebar’.
About that 100% map completion. They added 2 more new P.O.I’s in Lion Arch. No idea what was the point of this.
It’s over 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you read the sections of every other professions, Guardians, Warriors and Elementalists have the least amount of whines.
Figures.
Your pet gains “Attack of Opportunity” dealing 150% more dmg on the next attack.
I don’t know if this was changed but that’s the activation.
Master of Archery?! There’s no such thing! For a ranger atleast.
Just please fix the projectiles for bows. That’s all I ask. The current mechanics is utterly depressing.
Regardless. Signets are still useless.
Then I suggest the developers to sit their butts down and read the Ranger section if they ever want to make us happy.
Because currently we are not happy. These fixes just tells that the developers weren’t listening and just introduced more useless crap that benefitted little to the Ranger profession.
I don’t care about a new area in the Tyrian world. If this profession is not satisfying to play with, then there’s no devotion to explore the new content. Simple as that.
I think, to my own opinion, what ron is implying is the way people put the amount of effort/time/money into attaining a legendary is based on a personal achievement and does not in anyway contribute to the guild members. Therefore upsets the balance of ‘equal share’.
More of a ‘Every man for themselves’ concept I guess.
You see, not everyone is as caring and as giving to everybody else. That’s the main issue with people these days. So what else can they do? They grind for it themselves.
