Agreed. I find it way cooler than Bifrost, but I fight underwater so rarely that it’s not even worth it.
come on guys! post more complains so Anet can add more effects to the scepter & focus legendary! Just like they just fixed Predator sound cause people keep complaining
But I don’t want them to fix them… until I have the precursor.
Because once they fix them, prices are gonna jump up to the 300-500g range. Just like all the other “good/cool” legendaries.
They really need to fix it so that your tooltips update based on condition duration, fear duration, etc.
For example, I run S/D on my thief, so I daze a lot. Thief sword daze is 2 seconds base. Well, I have 6 mesmer runes on her, so it’s supposed to be +33% daze duration, meaning 2.66 seconds. However, the tooltip still says 2 seconds. I can never really tell if the 33% duration is doing anything; the time is so short that I can’t effectively count that .66 seconds, and it doesn’t show on the tooltip. Either it’s broken, or the tooltip isn’t updated to show 2 1/2 or 2 2/3 seconds.
Would be nice if they could do the same thing with bleeds. At least with bleeds, you’re right, we can test with Blood is Power. But fear is the same issue as Daze. It’s so short that you can’t time it yourself.
Storm already did jump. Before the January update that added more to legendaries, Storm was 55g. Now it’s 155-165g.
Which was disappointing to me… my casual self had just gotten to about 45g (so close!) when the price jumped. GG. Hopefully guild missions will make precursor prices drop.
Can’t thieves Shadowstep and Infiltrator’s Arrow with the orb? Or am I wrong about that? Seems to me like the Orb mechanics were just ill-designed in general, not just to favor eles.
Alright, so this is just a simple suggestion for Anet based on my experience with SPvP. I don’t go into SPvP often (only when I want to test a build, really), but, 95% of the time I do, I see one thing: people not actually playing the game (not capping points), and instead just dueling each other.
So my suggestion: why not make dueling part of SPvP officially? Why not make it an option? Either you could make it so that people could duel each other in Heart of the Mists (a good way to test builds without interfering with competitive play), or you could make a gladiator/arena style part of SPvP. I don’t think it would be too hard to implement (although I’m not speaking from any programming experience, so correct me if I’m wrong). All you would need is a simple, open map. It could be fairly small and wouldn’t need more than a few obstacles that could be used based on different play styles. No orbs of ascension or points to capture… just a place to fight to the death. I’m imagining 1v1, but you could even do 2v2 or 5v5 if you wanted. You could add spectator mode later on if you wanted to make it more of an “esport.”
Anyway, just seems like that would be a good way to accommodate the way I actually see people playing SPvP, since the “intended” way (getting to 500 points faster than the other team) has seemed to be uninteresting to most people.
I always get at least a Powerful Venom Sac off these mobs. That’s 10-15s (depending on market prices). Not to mention other drops – as others have mentioned, it’s a good place to get Vials/Globs/Shards and Onyx Lodestones. Skipping just seems silly.
I tell my groups up front on the LFG site that we’re killing Maw trash. No “skip/kill” conversation needed.
Is this a troll post? CM story was incredibly easy. As others have already said, I did it right when I hit 40, with a bunch of other recent 40s, soon after game came out. After getting pwned by Ralena and Vassar in AC story for hours, the 30 minute walk in the park that was CM story was a total joke…
Yeah, I don’t really get why people run anything higher than 20, other than for the prestige, I guess. The loot is all the same as level 2. The only advantage of 20 is the chance at Shards of Mists Essence and, ofc, infused rings/frac weapons. But why go higher?
They could at least put in a different token system. Like at 10 you get Pristine Fractal Relics, why don’t you get something similar at 20 that would allow you to buy fractal weapons or infused rings if the RNG screwed you? Instead you just keep getting Pristine Fractal Relics, which only buy rings that were a pre-requisite to doing 20 in the first place. With the final chest nerfed (I too used to get lodestones/cores but have seen none lately), I don’t feel like there’s much point in fractals anymore unless you want the weapon skins.
What do y’all think? 20% magic find, or 20% gold from monsters? Gold seems like it would be more quantifiable (I’m getting 10-15c extra off every mob I kill that drops money), but 10-15c is pretty pitiful. Then again, magic find may or may not actually do anything.
I keep going back and forth on which to get. What are y’all going for?
It shouldn’t be surprising. They have to find some way to force you to buy gems, or they won’t make any money. As has been said, Fine Transmutation Stones are far more useful than Basic… so you’ll fork over gems for them. And some people will just be lazy and pay real money. That’s a win for Anet.
I had the same problem. I got them a few times shortly after release from map completion, daily, and black lion chest. I think they removed them to force you to use gem store, since they know the game is all about skins and this is thus a valuable item.
Topic. As Venom is now the only precursor I consider somewhat reasonably priced (for a semi-casual player like me), I’m considering going for Kraitkin on my necro. Haven’t been able to find any posts, vids, or pics about what it looks like after this latest patch, though. And the patch notes are incredibly vague.
Basically just want to make sure I won’t be going for something that shoots a freakin’ unicorn. No offense to those who like The Dreamer, but it’s not for me.
So, anyone got any idea of what they changed with it?
A very similar idea to the ones mentioned in this thread has been doing the rounds for a while now.. (I don’t take credit for this idea, if someone wants to waste 2 minutes to post it in the suggestions forum, please, go ahead)
It goes like this:
For every 4 exotics or rares you dump in the toile.. err, forge, you get a ‘token’ of sorts.
The number of tokens will correspond to the quality of the items dropped. (clever people can work out the economics around this)
Myani will sell the precursors (and perhaps some other things like crystals and stones) for a predetermined amount of these mystic forge tokens. What does this mean?
You take your chances and, when unsuccessful, you at least get some form of progression towards your goal.
Some people will still get lucky. Some wont.
People who got theirs the old way will have little reason to complain.
Lucky people can still sell the precursors if they so desire. Instant gratification for those who are into that kind of thing will therefore still be available.
Current gold sink will be intact.
Forums will be a much happier place to be. Oh wait, nobody will be on the forums because everyone will be in-game.
edit: forgot the :-P after the last sentence…
The funny thing is that this system has already been shown to work with the “Pristine Fractal Relic” system. I got completely screwed by the RNG while grinding FOTM 10. Never got a single ring until probably my 15th or 16th run, while my friend got 4 rings in only 9 runs. Yet, I was still making progress toward my rings. Even after 15 runs of nothing, I had 15/20 relics necessary to just buy both.
Why they wouldn’t implement such a thing for precursors is beyond me.
Wow. That would annoy the heck out of me. Glad Meteorlogicus is the one I’m going for.
I, for one, am incredibly glad that lodestones are crashing. I’ve been staring down the barrel of 100 Charged Lodestones for my Meteorlogicus for a long time now… at 4g a piece, 400g total, it just didn’t seem possible. So I will certainly be taking advantage of this…
I started with about 150k karma and, respending the karma I got from the boxes, went down to about 0. I didn’t do an exact count, but I did get the Balthazar mini pet, 2 Corrupted Lodestones, 1 Charged Lodestone, 1 Glacial Lodestone, 1 Destroyer Lodestone, and all the unidentifiable shards. Made about 6.5g in total, and that was with keeping the Charged Lodestone for my legendary. I very much hope they don’t hit these boxes with the nerf bat… it gives you something worthwhile to do with your karma once you’ve spent all you need to on Obsidian Shards.
They seem to have fixed Flesh Golem. Mostly. Mine isn’t running off to stupidly attack things anymore. Although, he still does ignore the things I actually AM attacking… but I’ll take what I can get.
Don’t know if there has already been a thread on this or not, but I just wanted to say a general “thank you” to Anet for what is shaping up to be a great event. It’s clear that you all learned a lot of lessons from Halloween feedback (i.e., rewards for events like snowball fight, ability to get skins through some method other than RNG and Gem Store) and from Lost Shores (let’s not even get into that!).
Events like the bell choir and snowball fight are genuinely fun and unique, and there are rewards for them to boot. The jump puzzle was a little easy for me, but still beautifully designed and fun.
So great job, Anet, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the event.
