i think people can fight in the corner for this game and say its fine and in that respect it causes problems and issues to be ignored.

if you point out the flaws and issues like i do. the feedback is far more constructive to better the game.
to improve it.

the simple fact is, the game isnt in a great spot at the moment. there is alot to be questioned about resources and actual features and updates.

why those decisions were made and not the ones that count.

in some sense, some players are so Loyal they are in denial about the serious issues plaguing this game.

@Zardul

Do you understand that the people who make a minipet aren’t coders? They’re not the people who make new zones or dynamic events. Do you know how much work goes into making a minipet? Very little, because they already have the models. They just have to scale them.

You didn’t pay their wage for two years. You didn’t pay even one employee’s salary for a month I’m pretty sure. So how many hours have you played on the money you’ve spent. Let’s be real here.

People are spending money on skins that they’re making, and so they make them.

But content has come out. The only real objection I see here is the decision for it to be temporary. Anet was trying something brave that didn’t work out, but they tried it. They don’t have to answer to you…or any other one customers.

Drytop and EotM and Southsun are all zones that have been released. The people who work on that stuff tend to be specialists. And they work on it, and then work on the next thing. You can’t take everyone and just say to them make a zone. It doesn’t work like that.

I think your heart is in the right place, but you don’t know enough about the workings of the industry. The stuff you’re saying isn’t possible under the current budget/structure.

As far as bug fixes, there are bug fixes with just about every single patch.

all that time and effort to make such useless things could be spent else where is what im saying.
time is money, but they spend time and money on producing things that have no real value in the game.
whether the team who make skin and minipets are different to the guys who make the new zones is irrelevant as money and resources are still spent on making those useless toys , minipets and skins.

where they could be applied to new zones or useful things

If they didn’t make that stuff, there’d be less cash shop sales and no money to make anything. That stuff brings in money which runs the game. Where would you suggest the get the money from?

thats the point Vayne, we have given money to only receive more gemstore stuff.

there is a high concentration on gemstore and there is not enough concentration on getting out new actual useful things.

we see it every week and months can go by and still nothing that shows resources have been spent where it should be. on actual content and new maps

You haven’t answered my question. If that money didn’t exist how would anything else get programmed? There’s no subscription. The gemstore has to pay for everything. There were never going to be enough boxed sales. This is their business plan.

Some people obviously like that stuff or it wouldn’t keep selling.

But it’s disingenuous to say we’ve gotten no content. We’ve gotten content. Not enough for your liking, but what you can do?

i never said get rid of the gemstore stuff.
i just believe they spend far too much time and resources on it.

not that this following statement im going to make has anything to do with the playerbase but theres a reason alot of youtubers dont do videos of Guildwars2 anymore. some had a whole series but then stopped and moved on.
whereas some other MMO’s ( ESO, WoW, Wildstar etc) are still going strong in the youtube community as viewer Interest.

im not saying this as a Doomsday for the game things.
but theres a large decline in interest and i believe the resources and lack of content has something to do with that.

again the Gemstore is not Endgame. if that was the case. id play a Sub game like WoW and still pay less.

thanks for the millions you have spent on gemstore…
heres couple new skins and a birthday toy..

thanks again for the 2 years you have spent paying our wage.

Our resources are sure to be best fitted to produce more Skins and toys for you in the future, which will all be gated in the gemstore of course.

i never said ther weren’t popular, but you have made a point they had a problem with it all.
like you just said.

my point in your post has just been made, millions of resources were spent for the game to play catch up and give Temporary content, things that should of been in place from the start.

But us players are paying the damages to rectify this and after 2 years its still the same issue.

Okay stuff like culling had to be addresssed. That took tremendous resources and it was addressed. I know you’re not counting that as stuff that needed to be done…but it needed to be done.

When the game launched there was no auction house preview, there was no ability to craft from your bank, everything had to be in your bag…I mean it’s a long long list. Do you remember when they added the new ground targeting? Cause I do.

There have been up dates all along. A new WvW map, new PvP maps, even a couple of smaller PvE maps. There’s a new dungeon path. And there’s the personal story, which has left stuff behind. Jumping puzzles, mini games, all sorts of stuff. We have new events, new mini dungeons.

I strongly suspect you have no idea how much work some of this stuff takes. I really believe that.

Devs at Anet are working really hard. I promise no one is sitting at their desks eating biscuits and laughing at you.

You’re saying you want more. Everyone wants more. I want more.

But I’m pretty sure they’re doing the best they can with the resources they have.

the best with their resources are not new Skins or toys.

the best would be to filter in some new maps even if they are fractions of a bigger map, alot like Dry top.

but instead ( and ill try to explain this again)… the resources are spent on Skins , toys and useless stuff. heres a list.
-kites,
-toys
-outfits
-skins
-new food
-gated useless things
-dyes
-minipets
-temp content
-1 time living story

we do not needs these things, what im arguing for is that the resoures spent on these things should be spent on actual USEFULL things. heres a list:
-new maps
-new pvp maps
-new wvw maps
-new races
-new clases
-new weapon skills
-new bosses
-underwater combat
-reward system Revamp
-fractals new maps

id even settle for actually Bug fixes over a new mini pet or toy.

Though I am a new player, I can most definitely see the frustration in ArenaNet bringing forward changes for new players that won’t affect veterans unless they make a new character. The developers obligations should, in my personal opinion be towards long-term players and gem market purchasers, rather than people purchasing the game for the first time

There’s plenty of stuff for older players, don’t let the complainers say otherwise. Most updates have been for us, and just now, at the end of a long period of time, they’re revisiting the early game. I know not everyone appreciates everything done, but to say we haven’t gotten a whole lot of updates is just wrong.

If you don’t believe it, look through the patch notes yourself. The experienced players get plenty.

They complain about new zones, but we’ve gotten a new zone only this last couple of months. We’re getting a balance patch, account bound commander tags, a rework of graphic efficiency in big battles, improvements to the mega server and how small and medium guilds function with it, crafting UI improvements and more.

In the last two months we have new bosses, new dynamic events, new craftable weapons, a new meta event, a new back piece you can do a scavenger hunt to craft, new stuff in the gem store, a birthday gift for people with characters two years old (which some people quite like) and more.

There’s plenty that’s come out. If you don’t believe me, look for yourself.

yeah you are correct. theres plenty of useless stuff

in the same time frame of other MMO’s we would have had the resources ( our money spent on gemstore) actually put to real content and real usefull updates.

but instead we get a Birthday Toy, useless Gated skins, and updates that should of been there since day 1.

There’s plenty of useless stuff to you. Skins being gated aren’t useless. It’s called working for something. Some people don’t mind that. In fact, some people enjoy that. Also, a lot of these updates probably couldn’t have been there from day one. Because until you see the server loads in action, it’s not possible to update the game.

Another way to put it is this way. The game could have had all these updates if it launched much much later than it did. I’m pretty sure you weren’t going to fund it for that extra year.

So they go and put it out as best they could and not they update it. I’m happy that they’re doing it.

they have had millions of us from the gem store, it still does not justify the actual updates we have received.
how many more millions will it take to actual see something Substantial.

skins, toys and the many many bug fixes are not features nor are they worth the millions people have spent for the resources they use.

I can some up all your posts in one sentence. I don’t like the content so the content isn’t content.

It doesn’t matter if other people like it, you don’t. Some people like some things and some people like others. You’d do well to remember that.

There are people who really hate EoTM and people who love it. It’s always busy. It has overflows. There are people who like the boss circuit, but I’m not one of them. I think it’s silly. But I don’t claim its’ not content. It’s content for people who like it.

However, I love Drytop, it’s my favorite zone to date. I love the new amberite weapon set. I love the new vine backpiece. And I like a lot of the changes coming with the patch.

Just because what’s come out doesn’t suit you, doesn’t mean it doesn’t suit others. It doesn’t even mean it’s not good. Seems to me, other games would fit your style of play better than this one.

you are missing the point,
factor in how much in theory they get. and all those resources yet with those resources we get the majority of the time underwhelming things such as Toys, and skins and 1 time living story quests.

there is no argument for this. millions of Resources do not add up to cosmetic and useless update. Those resources should be put to better use.

if collectively all the players were 1 player and that player had spent millions and million on gem store. and in return gets a Birthday toy and couple of new skins.

how can u justify that as a good investment ?

( don’t get me wrong i love the Guild war Lore and story, but it really isn’t worth the investment that been put into it over the last 2 years)

Well, you’re right on the point of him not having an exact number, or even a poll.

I think his sentiment is notable – there’s a not-insignificant amount of people who are still happy to play the game. That’s not to say they actively agree with all the choices, but they just don’t mess up their enjoyment of the game enough to really push them to “unhappy”.

I also think topics like this one or ones basically cultivating the unhappiness are probably worse than the problems which are being cited making people unhappy. It’s one thing to be unhappy, but it’s quite another to have someone prodding you into it by shoving it in your face repeatedly.

i think those are more personal traits to the person reading, when you take it at face value, the OP is just reaching out to other players that feel the same.

like i have mentioned i feel the same, i wouldnt be playing at all anymore if it wasnt for my friends that want to play now and then. and we are all 2 year Vets.

its actually became a running joke now, when we all say we are bored, we say we are Gw2. its actually quite funny amongst us

Oh yea, I’m happy. Just not with GW2.

Seems odd to me that all these unhappy people are playing a game that makes them unhappy. Really odd.

It doesn’t work like this.
I’m one of the unhappy players too, yet I keep playing Gw2. The ONLY actual reason are my friends. That’s it. I don’t log in in game unless if someone asks me to do some specific content with them. It’s not the game that brings people game. It’s the people that do that. And with more and more people unhappy they WILL start leaving and once they do, you’ll see a pretty bad chain reaction.

Wise words written there~

I think it’s quite easy to tell from this post that there are happy people and unhappy people.

The unhappy people think ZOMG something is horribly wrong. The happy people are like, what is all this noise about.

The problem is is that to make certain people happy in an MMO, you have to make other people unhappy.

Take a look at the thread where someone asked what top 3 things do you think this game needs or do you want in the game. There were so many diverse answers, some of which made some sense and some of which made no sense at all to me.

Some of which would have been okay if they released the stuff and some of which would have been detrimental to my enjoyment of the game.

All MMOs have flaws and bugs and missteps. There are no exceptions to this. But the reactions on forums is almost always an over-reaction because the focus is on individual points instead of the big picture.

As long as you want to focus on minutia, you can always find something to complain about. The problem is, you can forget what you’re focused on isn’t the whole game.

This is one update in a game with dozens and dozens of updates. Some updates have been disappointing and some have been really good.

People compare the disappointing ones to the really good ones. Instead of saying, not a great patch…but there are improvements, they say, this pack isn’t as good as the last pack, or this pack doesn’t meet my expectations.

The pack isn’t amazing ZOMG I love this. But some of the stuff coming out is needed. Accountbound commander tags, and work on performance at big events, and the crafting UI update. Better rewards for the personal story, and better rewards for leveling. These are good chances, not bad changes.

People always want their world rocked. When it doesn’t happen, some will be unhappy.

Plenty of people still happy with the game.

please dont talk for other people Vayne. you dont know how many are happy

People will always argue at how the game is fine as it is.
But in couple months or years, you will feel the same Bordem most of us vets feel.

Doing your same stuff every day rinse and repeat
With a low to none of content updates.

I’d love to see you say to me or anyone else how sure you are that if it stays the same that you will be as interested in it as you are now.

The simple fact is. Everyone gets bored of a the same old content.

2 whole years, and the majority of it was temporary content.

people are scared of Change.

i wil never unserstand the reason people say that " WE DONT WANT NEW ENDGAME "

if you dont want to do it. dont do it.

but for those of us veteran players that got bored of doing the same stuff everyday. let us plead for new content at level 80 so we stay and have fun playing.

without us veteran players Gw2 would be very quiet.

-we NEED new content.
*its as simple as that

I’m not scared of change. I enjoy change. But there are people on these forums asking for specific types of changes that some other people don’t want. Just because you don’t like certain specific changes, doesn’t mean you don’t like change.

Change is necessary in all MMOs to keep them vital. There are probably not enough changes to skills in Guild Wars 2 to keep people adjusting all the time.

But now that china is launched, I expect changes to start coming more quickly.

i would not bet on that.

me personally, i would not value a few changes in a year or 2 to justify the time i spend playing this game.

if it continues, for me personally ill quit and for like minded people who think the same as me, i would bet they would quit too.

you may say we are a minority, but how many people moan on a daily basis? both ingame and in forums about what this game has to offer for the time and effort most of us put it?

it makes you think, it makes you suggest things on the forums but in the end, it doesnt matter as we see countless times that every update is underwhelming and not hitting points that many have made before.

it feels liek a continuous cycle so i cannot see how you think waiting around will change anything. because CHANGE is not in this games bios.

now i have all characters at level 80, its boring. there is nothing centered around level 80 only and thus makes being level 80 boring.

to balance this out. loot could be given regardless if the boss is killed or not
-if you kill the boss you are guaranteed rare-ascended gear.
-if you don’t you get normal loot like Champ bags and greens

The problem with this is you’ll end up with a conflict of goals.

Group A will aim to beat the fight because of the Ascended gear.
Group B won’t be that bothered, since losing the fight will still net them a profit without actually trying.

The exact same thing happened with Scarlet’s invasions; it was more lucrative and less hassle to farm the Champs that spawned, thus a lot of groups didn’t aim to beat the event.

currently the only endgame i see is killing the world bosses, but it has become more of a chore rather than a fight

Dungeons? Fractals? WvW? PvP?

Dungeons, fractals wvw and pvp can be done by low levels .. or whilst leveling up to 80

i meant level 80 only content

thanks for your ideas though on the issue involving loot on no kill.
i can see that problem now, maybe the loot for killing the boss should be well worth the time and effort. guaranteed Acended armour/weapon?

im for the following ideas:

  • new expansion
  • buffed up world bosses
  • Guild “wars” ( not GvG but Guild vs Environment… like Seiges/Castle defence in PVE )
  • new level 80 content only areas ( Orr, Dry top)
  • a pve side to WvW.. maybe make the Grub something worth killing for your server?*

i would like to see current world bosses to be buffed up to Tequalt level.

i remember watching a video 3 years ago about gw2, and a Dev said " it could take Hours to defeat a world boss"

i have yet to see this difficulty.

I would like to see a poll or discussion involing devs about new content for level 80s only.

I am very much for new endgame content, as leveling stops at level 80 something should be progressive after 80 to keep people playing.

It does not need to be a grind or compulsory. I feel living story does not fit this criteria.

This is my opinion. If you agree or disagree please share your thought below in a constructive manor

- non compulsory end game content ( not living story )

if it has no other purpose and its just a skin then this new feature will suck.

if it can be crafted at different levels and applys some sort of portable crafting bench or something

then yeah i could see this being used for new players.

but as for old veterans. this is just another backpiece skin that we will never use.

imagine your doing an event and all of a sudden POOF, this character apears and trys to sabotage the event. … i know i would be laughing hysterically trying to complete the event against him..

I imagine that would be funny exactly . . . once, and incredibly aggravating any time after. Though it might be nice for the players to have someone other than Trahearne they want to bury.

haha id love to hear the storys…
so i was doing Teq and that Jester popped up. we lost.
so i was minning and that jester popped up and moved the node
so i was in dry top jumping up the cliff and the jester apeared and knocked me off
so i was i was champ farming and the jester popped up and healed the champ to full health

i dunno man id find it funny. haha

so the argument that its done already before and its too similar isn’t going to help anyone as they have literally done everything.

But you’re not understanding me, at all. You’re just taking the face value of what I said and running with it.

It’s less important of “other games did these things and we shouldn’t” and more “all games of a genre shouldn’t aspire to contain these things just because the current king of the genre does”.

As for your list of topics? A lot of them might make a good and interesting game. But they don’t have a place here in this game.

Some of the rest of them? Just don’t belong regardless.

Though it should be noted, there’s a few . . . interesting . . . things you can find which are references to GW1 which could be considered ‘funny’ or ‘neat’. There is, for instance, a tree in Gendarran Fields which has something carved onto it. There’s a special ghost which appears in the Ascalon Settlement. There’s an odd ghost event in the Shaemoor graveyard. There are other events which are likewise relatively funny . . . like the whole-plot-reference to the Goonies in Gendarran Fields?

So, some “funny events” show up anyway.

i get what you mean but i was just saying, everything i have thought about can be twisted and made unique .. they are just a blank canvas.

but there will come a time when there is nothing new to make as someone else has implemented it. WoW or something else.

an MMO out there has done it first, we will always have that problem in my eyes.

yeah i saw the Goonies reference . found it quite funny.
however i would like to see more Character based things from a gw2 perspective. for example wouldn’t it be funny if we had a well known funny Jester type character in game, someone we can make jokes about or appears out of nowhere to ruin / make our day.

imagine your doing an event and all of a sudden POOF, this character apears and trys to sabotage the event. … i know i would be laughing hysterically trying to complete the event against him..

Aside from the one thing in that least I approve of (feel free to guess what), almost all your changes are WoW features.

does that matter?

WoW has been around for decades. we cant restrict ourselfs because they did it first.

we would have nothign new if that was the case.

And if we only retread things “we know”, then we don’t get anything different and a bunch of slightly different clones of one MMO and nothing else. This leads to a type of game strangling itself off . . . sort of like adventure games up until recently.

WvW is not unquie.. WoW did that First.
WoW also did structured pvp first.. ( arena)
Wow also did crafting profensions
WoW also did account wallet
WoW also did world bosses

we have a lot of things already done by WoW, i could go on and on.
its how MMO’s are made and unfortunately WoW has spoiled many players by implementing those ideas first.

so the argument that its done already before and its too similar isn’t going to help anyone as they have literally done everything.

It does because a lot of other games have similar thematics, and people left those games to avoid those themes/mechanics.

That’s just my two cents though. I came to give my opinion, not to rain on your parade.

thanks for feedback

i understand people left those games because of some of those mechanics. but in this game you play as you want. and all of these mechanics wouldnt be compulsory.

its just extra things to do instead of standing around in LA

There are quite a few problems with your suggestions.
To point out a few:

City raids: From what I know, the devs have already made it clear that they don’t want fighting events in cities.
Hairdresser: There is already an item in the gem store that changes your hair.
Guild Shop: I’m not sure why you’d need something like that. Care to elaborate?
Racial Factions: Although I would love to make actual villains as characters, I would hate to see the conflict while playing. Why would my character defend Tyria by defeating World Bosses and helping Destiny’s Edge in story dungeons? Why would he kill Scarlet? You can’t have it only affect the personal story, when the whole game revolves around you being a hero.

well as the Racial Factions, the Sotry could still end up the same way.. like if you are a villian. you might want to kill scarlet because you wanted to take over command?
the story could be bent into the same direction. but a different Path.. like a dungeon.

and Guild Shop, because it opens isnt effect by current gold limits of normal TP.
for example i could sell materials that i want gold for but other guild mates need.
sorta like trading but only between guildies. this would help me manage a price between me and the other person who is doing the trading as there will not be a limit on the TP. no min or max.

just some things I’ve thought about and would like to share.

Ship Warfare ( battle on Boats using cannons )
become the pirate you have always wanted to be, Don’t forget your jar of dirt.
fight along side a 5 man squad on your ship.

Racial Factions ( ties in with the gw1 expansion by name)
This would give the players an option to be evil or good. working along side elder dragons or against them. like a Horde and Alliance
this would only effect personal story

Non crafting professions ( fishing, sightseeing, lore master, explorer)
This would give the players extra things to do after progressing with crafting professions.
these profession will be environment based and provide no sell-able loot. account bound things only

Sky diving mini game ( sky dive from maximum height into water)
as you fall through the sky you must maneuver to hit all the rings in the sky. each ring hit gives you 10 points.
could sky dive from an airship?

Guild Shop ( a Trading post only for your guild)
this trading post is only for your guild members, the trading post can sell and buy the same things that the public trading post can.

Hairdresser / barbers shop ( cut your hair for gold cost)
the hairdresser will costs 30g+ per haircut.

Circus ( every month a circus opens for the public)
the circus provide fun little one use toys and events for everyone to enjoy. including
things you would see at other circus or carnivals.. lion taming, tight rope walking etc

Hidden funny events ( across the whole of the map)
these event are suppose to spark laughter for the player, think funny things like getting chased by 100 non lethal skritt, or an event that require you to Suicide into 1000 quaggons … Leeerrooyyyy Jennk…..

City Raids ( racial city’s only )
these city’s get raided by random local creature. Destroy them for a prize.

Just face the facts. This game ain’t doing well,
I’m tired of the problems.
I’ll give it until the new WoW expansion is released.

In sure it’s not the developers fault and may be that they are restricted and controlled by managers or ncsoft.

So why should I suffer with them when I could play a game that’s thriving ?

In all the others games I’ve played. This game has the worst dev to player relationship.

The forums feel like we are talking to a brick wall.

If I was asked to review this game on those areas I’d give it such a low score they would think I was trying to sabotage the game… When in fact I love the gameplay
But hate the non existing communication
