You can argue about how many people left , play ,will be playing but anyway I still think that LS updates doesnt help gw becasue right now they are completly useless . 95% of my guild mates just speedrun through it and never come back .I think most people do that so I have no idea why Anet spends almost all their resources on developing it and completly abandon other game aspects where people play everyday . Really community which plays this game everyday can generate much bigger income then randoms who log in once per 2 weeks . The worst thing is that there is completly no information from devs side . Is it so difficult to write "hey community we are working on build templates , you can expect them in next month cya " anything !!!

thats what i do now..

- speed through content in couple hours…

- play another game

this game isn’t long term, its short term to waste couple hours now and then.
its took me a while to realize that

Actually I disagree completely because it was a question asked in an interview without preparation. There’s a difference between couching stuff in dipolmatic terms and saying screw you we changed it. No company would do that. What they did say was likely true.

I don’t know how many cons you’ve been to, but they’re very busy and you don’t get a lot of sleep. I’ve been on panels as guests at cons and you just perform. Sometimes well, sometimes not as well. This wasn’t some prepared statement. It was someone put on the spot and spouting off an answer, without too much forethought.

I’m not drawing any evidence from the statements at this point.

I’m drawing my conclusions from what was put into the game. At launch – simple systems for attaining max stat gear. After launch – complex, clumsy systems for attaining grind-based gear that took a year to be implemented in their entirety.

The statements made before launch could be erased from history and I would still be asking what is UP with that change in direction. I would still be calling it a bait and switch. And the clumsiness of the post-FOTM communication on the subject would remain.

For me the actions speak far louder. For you, you’re willing to write excuses into interviews regardless of the fact that what was said in the interview turned out precisely accurate on launch day.

No, you miss my point. No one has said they haven’t changed direction. People came into this thread and said Anet lied and did something bad. You’re saying they’ve been disingenuous. Based on a single interview for which they likely how no preparation.

If people wouldn’t say they lied and talked about how bad Anet’s behavior was on this point, there wouldn’t even be a conversation.

Vayne.. you are in every single Forum Sub section.

do you just search through forums everyday?

i have a feelign you are some undercover ANET staff member trying to make this game sound amazing.. when we are all trying to discuss its faults.

The game has barely been out 2 weeks, there are places on the map that arent even accessible, obviously more content is going to come! They would not leave the crystal desert out or the ring of fire, something big will come but for now we must deal with no pure end game content and just enjoy the other little things.

WRONG… lol

Except pvp is completely terrible..

it is really good , it has a lot of potential like www but there is no development on this aspects of the game . Anet rly almost 2 years after release and 4 maps on team arena 4 maps !!! and 1 game type !!!

you clearly have little experience with PVP MMO’s.
4 maps and 1 game type in a 2 year span is very.. very… very… slow

using WoW as a personal example of mine. 1 year for expansion = 5 new maps = 3 new game types + new mechanics + new arenas

After some reading, posting and debating in 2 known mmorpgs sites, i was so confused about my feelings towards this game and mmorpgs in general. I mean, theres only like 20 to 30% of people defending the same views i have.

So glad i came here after that. Not that i havent already read thousands of posts like this, about GW2 and other mmorpgs in general, but i dont know lol, guess i “see the light” :P

But now i know. Thank you to the OP for this post. I share your concerns.

Now i see that my gaming time in mmorpg genre is probably over. And its ok, been playing for too long. Maybe its time for mmorpgs to be made for this new crowd of younger less demanding players.

Me, im not a guy that can live with such low expectations, even when we are talking about something so shallow as a game.

I love playing games, but i love some meaning behind all of it.

GW2 is a solid game, i had alot of fun for about 5 months and its ok i suppose. Was worth the money spent.

GW2 has no end game content, lost the magic of its predecessor, and failed to hit many of the marks ANet set with their manifesto.
But has many great stuff happening and it probably is the perfect game for the casual player, now i see it.

Sadly, and if we could meld time, its not half the game GW1 was back in the days. Still i will miss it, and perhaps one day ANet sees the potential of this game to be more than just a runner up contender and aim higher.

Its funny, lol, never would thought a game i so overhyped in all known to humanity game forums, would turn out to be the game that pushed me to the corner…

I highly recommend, if you are a casual and mmorpg lover, to not seek other game for you. I have played …hundreds? i lost count. GW2 is most likely the best choice for you.

As for me, i guess ill keep downloading those games hoping to find what i seek.

I confess, ill be keeping an eye open for GW2, maybe something good will happen eh?

Good luck to you all and have fun.

i think ill be taking a long break too.. might keep an eye out for the Elder dragon. but then i think it will be quits for me too..

Tournament of the legends,
Great Wurm slayer title
Legendaries
The whole concept we can see each other’s achievement points
The sun bringer

Champion titles for pvp

All these are prestige,
But I would like to see more options.

Well I’ve gotten to the point of being able to roam and pvp as a ranger. I even did it naked once. ( no gear)
All these little things were fun little events I made my own but after you have done all that

It comes back to the same issue. It’s too boring at 80

I really don’t think this game was designed to challenge people constantly. I don’t think that’s the purpose of this game. It wasn’t the purpose of Skyrim either. Not everyone game is going to be challenging to everyone. And there are plenty of people who are challenged by this game. For some people it’s too hard.

So if you don’t want to solo dungeons and go for speed records, I don’t know what to tell you. But I don’t think they’ll ever add enough hard content to satisfy someone like you.

Solo dungeon is an exploit, no1 should do that.

There is no reason not to add harder content. I’d be happy if I could chose how hard I want my achievements and events.

Casuals could play casual and I could play how I want to play. Hardcore mode.

Everyone plays for different a things and if I’m not mistaken the ethos for this game was that you could play how you want.

Hard content surely fits into that

Question for you. Would you still want the harder content if it didn’t come with better rewards? Because that’s really the sticking point.

You put rewards that most people can get, and you risk upsetting people who feel suddenly they’re second class citizens. People don’t want to see others have shinies they can’t have, even if those people “worked” for it.

Without the better rewards, most people won’t do the content. People tend to take the fastest, easiest way to get what they want. Fractals are less played because of the lack of reward. So would any other difficult content.

I don’t care for rewards, I do like the prestige feeling of being able to do those hard events.

I agree rewards should stay the same for both casual and hardcore.

If everything stays at easy mode, people get bored, like you said people make their own challenges.

But it would be nice of there were more options to create those personal challenges

Triple trouble Wurm and new teq, are things I enjoy doing.

Zerging and farming dungeons, mashing the number 1 skill is not how I see a fun game.

Again with that said, a balance and change to aquire harder content with same loot as casual

It’s just makes the game that much better.

I just reached 10,000 achievements
And as good as it feels it’s not offering much in a sense of prestige

The gear is a nice touch but it’s all the same. (Zenith)

Maybe give us the option to level again from level 1
And then reaching 80 unlocked prestige skins or weapons

After all leveling is wht makes this game fun, I would do it again.

So you’re playing for prestige. You’re playing to impress other people. I get it now. People don’t care what you have in game. It’s an MMO. No matter what you do, you won’t be a special little snowflake.

I’m at over 19,000 achievement points and no one gives a kitten . And that’s okay. Why should it even matter?

Isn’t that the whole point of gemstore and legends

I’m back.
Endgame level 80 ( by endgame I mean things to do at level 80 only)

I think a good idea would be to add mini-games like I suggested earlier,
But more importantly there needs to be a non gear progress content but something that can still be progressive without causing people to be singled out and better than other people.

I’d suggest hard to get titles, maybe even meta titles for example

- complete all dungeons and complete 100% map gives you the “hero of tyria” title

- complete all crafts and craft 6 ascended pieces " ascended crafter"

- complete all fractals and acquire a fractal skin " Master fracter"

You get the idea…. Meta achievements for achievements

It’s so easily implemented

my IRL friends bought this game about 6 months ago.. within 2 weeks they got bored and quit.

within that time they leveled to 80, experienced Dungeons and WvW.

and guess what… the first thing they asked me was " sooo.. is that it?"

thats just an example ( id like to point out there was 4 of my friends… and they all felt the same)

Yes I’m sure that’s true. I’m sure that in 2 weeks all your friends quit. Meaning you hang out with people who pretty much play the same game you are.

My guild was a prelaunch guild and more than 50% of the people who started the game with us are still playing. Some left and came back, some left and didn’t. But more than 50% of the guild is still here from launch (though some have moved onto other guilds as well).

See, we can all provide annecdotal evidence.

I also know a lot of people who tried to read Lord of the Rings and couldn’t get through it, though they enjoyed the movies. That doesn’t make Lord of the Rings a bad book however.

it was just a personal example of mine.

like you’ve said “Some left and came back, some left and didn’t.”
that soon will just be " People Left"

what we are discussing is that time in which that would happen. and how to counter it.

i want to continue to play this game with lots of players, not a handful.

I don’t think any of the people that I’m playing with now are even close to leaving. Many in my guild are really enjoying the living story and looking forward to the next part. They’re not leaving. Some people came back because of the Living Story Season 2.

The biggest objection people had to Season 1 was that the content was not permanent and that has been fixed.

Living story is not a solution.
if that was so.. id only log on every 2 weeks for 1 hour.

Living story isn’t a solution for you. Living story is most definitely a solution for me, and others like me. That’s what I keep trying to say.

You and those like you, ie your friends might not like it, but I seem to see a whole lot of people running around Dry Top at all hours of the day and night.

then you agree that Gw2 will lose players.. like me
and 10000s of them who also think like me

its a lose in players at the end of the day and that effects EVERYONE

I like the concept of journal and I hope it will introduce something more than just ls stuff, maybe some additional stories or quest that can provide you with tons of lore, or maybe somewhat repeatable things that you can grind for rewards expanding on dungeon idea etc.

Otherwise gw2 is in kind a strange position, lot’s of players demand continuation of character progression and don’t want to see new item tiers or etc. So it all boils down to new progression systems and content that can test those, in other ways semi-gear progression is what people ask for. And you can’t blame them for that, it is RPG, and mmo one.

I would like to see post lvl80 exp utilization, additional skills for 1-5 with ability to swap them for each weapon and an ability to enhance skills with various effects (with runes maybe). That would be cool, but again that kind of stuff asks for new lvl cap or something along those lines.

Anyways, game really needs some carrots for lvl80 characters.

Yeah this.

Then i wish you never get bored of doing the same thing everyday.. like millions of past and gone GW2 players have experienced.

If that is SOOOOO much fun .. why are you here then ? Why don’t you play any of
the games out there with those feature instead of trying to destroy GW2 for all
player who love the game for what it actually is ?

I just can’t understand why people that seem to hate this game so much and love
other games sooo much more .. simply don’t play those other games.

i dont hate Gw2.
i love it, but i can feel the creeping feeling of Bordem knockin at my door as soon as i log on.

i would love to say theres something fun to look forward to on this game but REALISTICALLY there isnt.

im a hardcore gamer i played pretty much every MMO out there. and currently GW2 is my main one. but i know when something is dying out and what of.
WoW – 7 years
Runescape – 2 years
Gw1 – 3 years
Skyrim – 2 years ( if you count that)

and currently Gw2- 2 years

Experience has taught me when things need to change.

they would lose couple thousands of old gw2 players yhh your right..

but gain Sooo many new players.

lose couple thousand.. gain couple million,

Oh yeah .. the game would be as successfull as AION is in the west .. with it millions of players.

ohhh .. wait ..

Then i wish you never get bored of doing the same thing everyday.. like millions of past and gone GW2 players have experienced.

Millions of people have left WoW too. But most PvP centric MMOs never even get 1 million players.

Eve is arguably the most successful western PvP MMO…and it has about half a million players now…which is the highest it’s ever had. You know why?

Because for most people ganking other people or dying repeatedly to some kid who has nothing better to do than grief you isn’t fun. It’s only fun for the griefers.

im not just asking for pvp options..

im mainly asking for endgame content to be more fun. more mini games. exclusive 80 content.

you have taken a small part of what i said and blew it up out of proportion.

You clearly feel the same about endgame otherwise why would you be on the forums at this time on this Thread?

it hurts no1 for Anet to pull their finger out and start dishing out some more endgame things to do. if thats pve or pvp or Netiher.

it doesnt matter. but it does need change to stay alive.

who would it hurt if you at least Added several more Mini game options?

or exclusive level 80 only content?

it would hurt no1. if anything it would make it more worthwhile to play and something to look forward to.

yeah its a very stale game at level 80.

there is no depth to this game. i play it everyday just to do the daily, so when the times comes that there is actual DEPTH to the game i got alot of laurels and gold to spend for it.

but until then its just a chore.

id like to see the following:
-City Raids
-racial Fights ( char vs Human )
-Combat mini ( pokemon type of mini game)
- more achieveable Factions ( Priory, Whisperers, Vigal are not enough)
- world pvp
-Unpredictable Dynamic events ( we can predict boss spawns make it boring)
- more Non racial citys. ( lions arch is the only one we have…again boring.)
-more level 80 content in low level areas.( we are stuck to a handful of 80 content)

You probably didn’t get the memo. This game was designed with cooperative PvE in mind and all the design decisions have been based around that. It’s not going to change. Anet would lose their core game population if they did the stuff you want them to do.

they would lose couple thousands of old gw2 players yhh your right..

but gain Sooo many new players.

lose couple thousand.. gain couple million,

all im stating is that if the game stays like it is, it will die.

changes do need to be made.

keeping the end game entertaining is the most important for a MMO to thrive and survive.

New mini games:

- Moa Race ( ride a moa to the finish line)

- Mini Pet Battles ( fight with your mini pets)

- Guild vs Guild Arena

- City Raids ( random Monster attacks Random City at a Random Time)

- Proffension mixing ( like old Gw1 )

- Ship Battle ( Water Battles on Ships and boats . pvp based )

-Target shooting mini game

-Fashion contest ( best looking characters win )

- Char Arena ( fight with your warband in the arena vs other players warbands )

- Make your own Home instance ( move buildings and furniture )

- Sports ( various 5v5 sport games… think Keg Brawl but more modern)

- Water events ( Swim race, Catch the Quaggon, hide and seek )

THERES TONS of things to think up

All things i never ever want to see in this game. If you want Gankwars .. there are
enough other games out there ..

And level 80 content in starter areas ????

you are thinking too Linear.

a pvp option could be turned off so you dont get ganked.
level 80 content in low level areas would mean visiting those areas again would be worth while.. ( you would still scale down to the areas level.

think outside the box.. i could think of 10000s of things to make this game have alot more Depth and Fun.
