I always give my characters lore-appropriate names (unless they’re PvP or mule characters, then all bets are off!), but I’m not too bothered by people running around with stupid names. It’s their character, they can name them whatever they want. I actually find it amusing sometimes what people come up with, like the Mesmer named “Ronald McDonald” who runs around giving Cheeseburgers and Fries to people.
I like the idea of buffing the amount of karma gained for successful completion of an event.
I feel your pain. If you’re in a group, you can rejoin the instance, but at the same time, if you don’t have friends who are willing to spend 3+ hours in SAB while you hunt for every single bauble/secret, you’re out of luck.
I got disconnected once while doing W2Z1 Associate of Secrets/Baubles at the same time, right before the last boss. SO. CLOSE!
Some latency is to be expected when connecting to US/EU servers if you’re located in a distant country, but the last two days have been much worse than usual, hence me posting that link. It seems that something is wrong with a particular NCSoft server, resulting in 100% of packets sent to it being lost. There is also unusual slowdown in the connection between the Paris and Washington hubs.
EDIT: Also, last night I tried guesting to a low-pop server to see if it would improve the lag, but it didn’t. If the cause is due to packet loss between the servers, however, I can see why that wouldn’t improve things. Really hope ANet notices this soon!

Blooming Day! The day when the Pale Tree first blossomed.
2) No krewe wants them and they end up joining the Inquest.
This… actually makes a great deal of sense when you consider the tagline for the Inquest Slayer title: “If they’re so smart, how come they couldn’t keep from getting killed?”
We’re committing intellectual cleansing on the Asura! O.o
^ Basically, that. Pre-emptive strikes put you in more of a grey area when it comes to morality. How many times can you attack an enemy faction before it turns into a situation where YOU’RE the aggressor and they’re defending themselves from you?
Sooo, you think they’re hideous, but you bought 8 of them anyway in the hopes you’ll be able to sell them one day? Speculation is a double-edged sword, my friend.
I have like 6 and didn’t buy any of them.
Really? Did they drop from the Pavilion/Gauntlet farm or something? I did a moderate amount of Pavilion farming (no Gauntlet farming) and never saw any Sovereign skins.
Oh and a way to have 3 women for every male IRL but that’s another discussion entirely.
Male here, and I’m happy with my one true love.
But to each their own!

No idea, honestly. I’m not going for Ascended weapons for a while, but I salvaged an Exotic trinket that dropped from an invasion with a BLSK and got 0 Dark Matter.
What about Moto’s Breath? I always forget I have that skill, and I honestly don’t even know what to use it for. XD (The long casting time means that it’s usually far too risky to use it on enemies.)
^ That was Josh Foreman. However, he also said he wasn’t the guy in charge of the rewards. Considering that ANet brought back the Fused/Sclerite/Dragon’s Jade weapons, it’s not completely out of the question that the original Super weapons may come back one day. Still, I wouldn’t hold my breath.
^ Sure, if you’re willing to pay for our plane tickets and be our immigration sponsor.
Back on topic, to everybody having latency issues, where are you located? I came across this thread in the Bugs forum that mentions the NCSoft servers having massive packet loss which is causing the lag:
Did you guys start experiencing this lag 2 days ago? Because I’ve been having the same issue, and it’s making SAB more or less impossible to complete because the server keeps thinking I’m in rapids/lava/poison water when I’m not.
There’s no need to limit Champion Boxes to 20 per day. What they should do is implement diminishing returns on individual Champions so that subsequent kills will give inferior versions of Champ bags until they stop dropping altogether (around kill #3 or 4, perhaps). That will encourage people to move on to different maps rather than just staying in the same map for hours and hours.
So what you’re saying is make it even worse than only 20 a day. 3-4 champs drop their usual boxes then its garbage after that? ya good luck with that.
I think you’ve misinterpreted my post.
The OP’s suggestion was to limit Champion Bags to a flat 20 per account per day. My suggestion would let you hit the Frostgorge Champs 3 – 4 times, then hit the Orr Champs 3 – 4 times. Repeat for Southsun, Fireheart Rise, Sparkfly Fen, all the way down to maps like Queensdale and Wayfarer’s. The diminishing returns is PER CHAMPION. It would thus encourage people to move on to different maps rather than just sitting in Frostgorge all the time.

I was having terrible lag yesterday in SAB too, with the result that I had to give up on my TM attempt because I kept dying to lava even though I was clearly standing on wood/ground. Haven’t tried again today, but the fact that the forums (which seem to be linked to the GW2 login servers) have been having Internal Server Errors all day is not a good sign…
I would be SO over that “Kill X monkeys” daily requirement. Hate those guys soooo much.
They become lab safety statistics.
Where can I find the Kingpin in W2 Z1?

Follow the raccoons.
Using stealth/invisibility to get past the second group of hillbillies (near the shop) worked for me. The key was to not die past that point, as waypointing back to the checkpoint in front of the hillbillies aggros them and ruins the achievement.
I’m sure that the unlimited gathering tools will be “back by popular demand!” now and again. They sell too well for ANet to shelve them permanently. :P
People are breaking down Exotics by the truckload for Globs of Dark Matter. Likewise, prices for mats went up because of people crafting Ascended mats who need lots of lower tier mats.
^ Agreed. I, for one, am loving the reduced prices for Cores/Lodestones.
We’ve seen a shift in the value weightage of materials needed for high end crafting, away from stuff like Lodestones and more towards normal materials. This is good because it not only makes Lodestones easier to access, but also helps boost demand for normal mats that would otherwise languish at 1c above vendor price, and just build up to ridiculous oversupply on the TP.
^ Probably that. Since jewelry does not have an inscription or insignia, the logical conclusion is that jewels will be the component piece for crafting Ascended jewelry.
I agree that on a purely logical basis, there should be a recipe to forge Copper Doubloons into Silver ones, seeing as how Silver → Gold already exists. (And likewise, Gold → Platinum should also be doable.)
I haven’t heard of any shops doing that, but it should SO happen in TM as a nasty surprise for anyone who smashes pots in shops looking for food/baubles.
Heck, it could even be a normal shop in one of the later worlds!
Yeah, it’s a latency thing, and it seems to have gotten worse in the last day or so for me.
I’ve been having a devil of a time trying to get past Rapids due to getting knocked back by rapids even though I’m standing on rocks/crocodiles, and I’m stuck in TM W2Z1 due to the game thinking I’ve landed in lava even though my screen shows I’m safely standing on wood.
I wonder if the “Internal Server Error” the forums have been having the last few days has something to do with it, as both the forums and the game servers are linked… Keeping my fingers crossed that this improves soon.
One thing I’m also considering trying is guesting to a low-pop server to see if the latency improves there.
I’m still waiting for that one shopkeeper in TM where if you smash his stuff, he goes berserk and one-shots you. XD
W2Z1 was nerfed to make it fairer for people with poor latency. There’s videos on Youtube of players getting knocked back by waterspouts that are still clearly in the air, or rubber-banding halfway through a flower jump and falling into the abyss, or getting knocked back by “rapids” even though you obviously made the jump to the rock/log according to your screen.
These are players who have the skills to beat SAB, but they can’t due to getting incorrect information from the game itself. It would like trying to beat a dungeon boss that’s constantly moving, only the game shows you where he was half a second ago and you have to try and guess at his real location to aim your attacks.
Health potion "upgrade" is a downgrade...

Infinite Continue Coin > all the health potions.
The other problem is that the Living Story content is much, much, MUCH more rewarding in terms of Achievement Points and loot than the normal story. You might be a player who enjoys exploring/dungeons/Fractals/roleplaying/what-have-you, and you can certainly choose to focus on those while the LS is going on, but if you do, you’ll miss out not only on the (usually) limited-time achievements, costing you a lot of AP’s, but you’ll see your friends bragging about the hundreds of gold and Rares/Exotics they’ve looted from Pavilion/Gauntlet/Invasion farming.
So yes, it does feel that you HAVE to take part, or you’ll be left behind economically.
Yep, same error here too. Since the forums and game servers are closely linked, I wonder if it this has something to do with the absolutely horrendous in-game lag I’ve been having yesterday too…
OK, so over the weekend I salvaged 17 more Masterworks, and managed to get upgrades back from 2 of them. So I can now confirm that the Salvage-o-Matic DOES extract upgrades, although the chance for getting them back still seems abnormally low. I’ll continue to track this in case there is indeed a bug with the upgrade salvage %.
Type 3 Villain = Canach.
I wonder sometimes if people who say that the current pace is fine are students/unemployed/retirees (a.k.a people who have a lot of free time), as opposed to people who have full-time jobs, families and other responsibilities. I know that, for me at least, a big part of the allure of GW2 was because it was marketed as a game where someone with responsibilities or not a lot of gaming time could still come and play at their own pace, similar to what we had with GW1.
And for a while, it was exactly like that. I remember wandering aimlessly through the open world, doing events, talking to every single NPC or just standing at a vista to take in the breathtaking beauty of the game world for a few minutes. Sure, I knew that at that very moment, there were people grinding dungeons, forging Legendaries, but none of that mattered because I knew they would still be there when I caught up months or even years later.
Now though, when I log in, I actually have a checklist of things to do. Harvest my Quartz, do my Dailies, do the daily Activity, do a bit of TP trading if I have stuff to sell, and then spend the rest of the hour or so I have for gaming each night getting through as much of the LS content as I can so I don’t get left behind. Individually, each of those activities is fun. Put them altogether underneath the shroud of “temporary content” (whether it disappears daily, monthly or at the end of the current LS chapter) and it all becomes draining.
I think that what ANet is trying to do is commendable, and I love new content as much as the next gamer. I just don’t think it would hurt to slow things down so it becomes a journey rather than a race.
Yes! We’ve got an Asura who finds the boastful pride and aggressive nature of the Charr useful to the extent of cuteness and a Charr who acknowledges the amazing intellect of an Asura.
The next step is an easy one! Soon we’ll have some Charr declaring their admiration for their Asura lover on the battle field or inviting their Charr assistant to their lab for late night cuddles after a long day’s work with their krewe.
I’ll be emailing you the .pdfs with the diagrams on specific pegs and slots configurations so you’re fully prepared…it’s not as complicated as you think.
And no need to thank me. I’m just Leo, making Tyria ickier one post at a time
Hmmm. I have only one word to utter at this point in time:
Rox.
Too late. She already has her unusually large eyes on Braham.
Yeah, I know that only the Masterworks have upgrades. I had a bunch of them left over from the Champ boxes during the last few days of invasion farming, but as I said, I didn’t get any upgrades from them, which seemed kinda fishy. I’ll keep on trying though, since it does seem to be a streak of very bad luck.
It was too easy! Tribulation Mode complete!

Congrats. I’ll keep that in mind when I put together TM for the next world.
When will people learn… You NEVER taunt the DM/developer. :P
There is actually a hidden cave accessed from the cliff where the sun is. It leads to a mini-jumping puzzle that has a jump pad that sends you up to the clouds.
^ By that token, it certainly wouldn’t hurt their bottom line to make the Mr Sparkles mini more easily available either. Put him up for sale on the Gem Store for 800 gems, watch the extra money roll in.
So salvage Rares/Ectos with Master/Mystic Kit or better. Got it.
Saving my BLSK’s only for Exotics now with the Dark Matter introduction.
Just a heads-up to all audiophiles that the Soundcloud page now has the music from SAB World 2 available.
With regards to the demonic faces in the hardened lava in the Ring of Fire chain, I’m fairly certain I remember reading an article somewhere that said the faces there formed due to energies from the Realm of Torment leaking through the Door of Komalie and influencing the landscape. The heads themselves aren’t sentient, merely a reflection of the spiritual energies from the Realm of Torment.
Thanks for the feedback, guys.
I guess it might be a streak of REALLY bad luck.
@Enko: How often have you been getting upgrades from them? Now that we have confirmation that it DOES salvage upgrades, I’d just like to make sure that the chance is not abnormally low (i.e. the Salvage-o-Matic is incorrectly using the Crude Salvage Kit stats, which has ~5% chance to salvage upgrades).
@FateOmega: Oh, I know. I was planning on throwing the green runes/sigils into the MF for the Daily whenever it came around, not selling them. (Others have likely gotten the same idea though, as I’ve noticed a drop in the price of Major runes/sigils since the Sep 3rd patch.)
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for that “collectibles to 500” gem store upgrade the data-miners dug up a month or so ago.
It also seems that Dire/Rabid inscriptions can’t be salvaged from lower tier weapons.
According to a post on the Bugs forum, Opals DO give +Power as well. (Along with items like Medallion/Crest of the Traveler.) The tooltip is just bugged so that the +Power bonus isn’t showing up.
