Scholar runes are not that expensive anymore, maybe 10-12g for a whole set if you are patient. I’m almost done my 2nd 500 craft to fully get into d/f but i’ll probably use 0/30/10/10/20 for fresh air, the damage boosts, and vigor/boon-on-swap. Not sure on utilities but all signets might be best until I get used to the rotations.
Why not stone splinters instead of vital striking?

Anyway, staff’s damage is in fire. Anything else is not decent. Trust me, I have tried and tried, there’s just nothing to do with this weapon.
Arcana is awful … what is 10% boon duration compared to something like 100 power and 10% damage in fire?

What healing skill is recommended for general play?
Either Signet (passive healing from the Ele skill spamming) or Ether Renewal (cleanses a TON of conditions).
Glyph of elemental harmony is also desirable because it is comparatively fast to cast and that saves you some time to put out more damage.

Before I show any of my magic I need to check a few things about warriors, namely that axe auto chain. There was a recent change on the wiki saying that the last hit deals more damage than I previously thought.

The charges and duration are just to limit the OP of the conjure weapon. Just think about this. If you can run GS on water and earth attunement at all time. DPS + survivability!!!
Nobody talked about the FGS, we started this conjure discussion according to the upcoming patch, and that covers only utility conjures, not Elite….
Also like Zelyhn wrote, which survivability did you mean? 5 secs of protection?
You also get 1 toughness per level in earth! And with the OP effect of lingering elements you extend this OP bonus to other attunements! Oh wait

8k dps by estimate with a good group, there’s unfortunately no damage meter for this game… And everybody knows that the spreadsheets don’t reflect the real dps achieved.
And of course, it also depends on the group quality. If you have 3x signet GS warrior in it, you hardly can push out that much….

I use LH for blinds, especially when Haviz threatens to kick me, and also shield for pulling/packing. Axe is useless.

I am so frustrated today because I learned that attunement swap cooldown is two second long, not one like I though. This reduces our damage on FA D/F enormously. I am bloody tired of trying superhard to perform well with my beloved class and not being able to achieve enough despite my great efforts. If tomorrow’s patch doesn’t bring us one billion buffs they are in for one hell of a rant.
You’ll get better support.
I would rather call that a “normalized” support, if you know what I mean….
And whatever they do to conjures is kinda irrelevant, if those will still have both charges and duration.

Exactly, so any comparison of skills itself is really pointless, because of class mechanics.
Only skills that can be compared to each other somehow are utilities (blink vs Lightning flash f.e.) And even then, the other options of the certain class should be taken in account…
@OP: Sorry, but this discussion is hardly leading anywhere, the game mechanics are too complex for that.It’s not pointless because ele has no mechanics different from warrior.

I’m loosing my nerves a bit today after learning about attunement swap cd being at 2s.It’s not hard to understand, but it’s not a step to evaluate class balance, because the output of this analysis, the result will be total non-sense. You can’t just take one aspect of the class, analyze it separately and hope to get a valid result.

Hard to tell without proper animation frame counting
Total coefficient from GS chain: 2.3 (=2.53 if modified for relative weapon damage, but one less sigil compensates that)
Total coefficient from the first two attacks of Axe’s chain: 2.1
All you need is the animation time to evaluate, very likely the axe interrupted chain is faster

Total coefficient would be 5.26, over 3.6s, that is 1.46 per second … we are getting into figures comparable to 100b here

Mesmer dps from weapons is probably the worst in the game….
I don’t think this is true, mesmer just doesn’t rely on his autoattack to do his dmg, that’s all. Well played mesmer can dish out very respecable amount of damage, trust me

I just noticed that attunement swap cooldown is 2s, not 1 like I thought, and can be reduced by points in arcana … woaw … I have to rework all my rotation TC now.
I had a feeling that attunement swap cd was too high, especially when running D/F persisting flames + FA, because it requires fast swapping … obviously the game does not allow that. My disappointment is high as you can guess by the numbers of “…” I am using …
To reply to you, I agree, except that engineer’s toolbelt is actually its utility bar and kits are their attunements. But that’s for engis; they have other issues.

Mesmer’s sword auto chain has a coefficient per second of 0.96, applies two stacks of 5s vulnerability and rips a boon for a commitment of 2.5s and range is 130.
To be honest what I expect to find from this study is that your first 2 or 3 skills in each attunement are equivalent to that of other classes, and that skills 4 and 5 are balanced with longer cooldowns. This would make sense to me: since we have 4 attunements we can have 4 sets of long cooldowns running at the same time versus two for other classes so our skill’s long cooldowns should be about twice as long as that of other classes (actually a bit less to compensate for the constraint of attunement cooldowns).

However, the guardian’s sword auto chain has a coefficient per second of 1.24 and a range varying between 150 and 300 for a commitment time of 2.5s. It seems to me this is slightly worse than LW.

There has been a recent change on the wiki page for the warrior’s axe chain. The coefficient per second of that chain seems to be 1.46 as opposed to the 1.36 previously used.
