Profession native stats ?

ZoiN.4280

So a guild mate asked me earlier about what stats I had on my warrior – where as he is a ranger, I guess he wanted to see the difference between our stats.

Now he is DPS specced where as I am Support/Control specced – that means I am focusing on mainly healing and toughness stats.

To my surprise, he had 2000 toughness, where my warrior has almost 1800 – does rangers normally have more toughness than warrior does ?
I’m curious because he doesnt have any gear that gives him toughness, and he’s not specced into toughness at all either.

Where can I find this pirate armor?

I was kinda curious since we now get laurels from completing dailies and monthlies (as to what I’ve understood), so I went to my bank to check up on my gold coins to see if they had been converted or what not, though they are all gone ?

What exactly happend to them :s ? – weren’t they also used for crafting legendary weapons ?

And does this mean I will have to start all over collecting coins or laurels or whatever to make a legendary weapon :s?

To do Canach you need to wait for a few minutes after he’s been defeated once as the event apparently doesn’t let you fight him instantly right after he’s been defeated.

I’m not sure if you need to talk to him again after hes been defeated, but I got my mail as I talked to him again, not sure that’s why or not.

But yeah, just wait a few minutes and you’ll be able to talk to him to fight him. I noticed atleast on my end, that he started to move back to his waypoint as soon as you could talk to him again.

ZoiN.4280

I made a smilar thread quite about a month ago or so – Being a guild leader my self as well I found it extremely frustrating seeing people not representing as it doesnt really contribute to the guild you are trying to hold together with as much effort as you possibly can dish out, where as even setting up guild events seems to be futile in several ways – and yeah ive tried several times, having to force people onto your guild website to have the otherwise sign up there is extremely ineffecient compared to having an ingame calendar to setup events in, and secondly, actually having people showing up at all, because there’s not really anything they can’t do on their own with just random people anyway, unless ofcourse we are talking dungeons, though these are for 5 man only, and not everyone needs the same items from those dungeons, though that’s an entirely different discussion.

Guild seems extremely pointless at this time, besides the buffs they provide – though I can’t really see why a guy who’s soloing anyway, would want to be part of a small guild, and not just one huge one which has all the upgrades, and could possibly have all the buffs going 24/7 :/

if your having a problem with certain frequency ranges then i’d suggest reconfig’ing you sound system, you prob have something to high or too low or if you use graph eq settings with sound card software/windows then try disabling it. people thing that every thing has to be the same level when thats not the case. standard sorround sound systems are too limited for my liking, thats why i made my own so i can fine tune it even down to the frequency responce of each speaker and manipulate 40 different frequency ranges.

anyways just find the right balance between your sub and the rest of your speakers.

the best thing to use when configuring your speaker system to get the right balance is classical music, as much as you may hate it classical music uses most to all audible frequencies the human can hear, i don’t tho i choose Pink Floyd from a vinyl :P

I’m using a HDMI cable from my graphics card, into a Onkyo Reciever via its HDMI switch on its back (if that brand tells you anything ;P) so I’m not exactly using a regular PC surround setup, now this just handles the surround sound and can go with pretty much every type of sound output format there is.

Secondly, it uses a microphone for adjusting the volume of the speakers by its self, problem here is not the sub or anything else but really that the sound is coming out of all my speakers when they aren’t supposed to, as described earlier.

The thing with the 100% completion also goes towards legendaries, you need Gift of Exploration if you ever want to go for a legendary weapon.

Ofcourse you apparently also need atleast 500 WvW tokens to get a legendary weapon.
Anyway, I like WvW myself, but forcing PvE’ers only into PvP to actually complete their 100% world completion, does indeed seem a bit odd.

Dixa – The amount of health that you get from actually activating healing signet is so small, that its barely worth actually activating it, since as soon as you activate it and goes on cooldown the passive health regeneration dissapears.

Even if the cooldown is half as long, the amount of health actually provided by healing signet is not going to save anyone from dying if you are already dying as a warrior.

Guilds, Dungeons, and Group Content of the two.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ZoiN.4280

ZoiN.4280

To be honest I have to agree with your sentiment. Guilds seems to have been somewhat ignored in favour of open ended content that anyone can join. The only problem with that is that accessible has ended up equalling easy or zergy. Which is still fun (and still something we would do) but it would be nice if we had something truly challenging.

Id like to see the current and future dungeons get a 10/20 man version as a choice for guilds. This would allow for a regular, scheduled activity that also has a high challenge level. It would reward the same dungeon tokens as the 5 man dungeon so no one would have to get a guild to get the exact same rewards and see the same content. An increase in the amount of mobs and mob stength would scale the difficulty. Bosses could have a few added attacks to make it dangerous for large groups.

Even basic features like allowing a guild to form a raid group (5+) members is not in the game. This would be useful for those times when we want to go out in the world and do stuff together. Without the group there is no way to see each other on the map or join each others overflow shards.

Between those 2 we would have a good amount of content for guilds without impacting on the people without guilds or with smaller guilds.

There are ways to make raids, though the only way is to have someone to get 100 gold and buy the Commander Field Training manual.

Though that’s still a hundred gold.

Really do like your idea however, having upscaling dungeon content would actually be really interesting. And would certainly make it a lot more flexible for both bigger guilds as well as actually giving a bigger purpose for grouping up for something within the guild. Not a bad idea at all.

Pie Flavor – yeah it actually does – it really doesnt make any sense to put stats on them if they are for cosmetic reasons at all.

And getting transumtation stones are possible through black lion chests as well, Basic Transmutation stones as of what I know the only ones you get for getting a map at 100% which can’t be used for level 80 items.

I don’t mind that you are able to buy fine transmutation stones in the gem store, but first having to pay around 100 gold for a rare set, to then either pay up more gold or pay with real money for transmutation stones in case that you haven’t been lucky to get any through black lion chests, is a bit steep honostly. It’s not really all that easy to actually get a hundred gold in the first place.

My lvl 80 Guard wearing some fairly nice gear and her health boosted with trait points walks into WvW with 18-19k health,

My nice new little lvl 10 baby Warr with no trait points and starter armor walked into WvW rocking 27.5k health,

27.5K health is a lot.
My warrior doesn’t have that due to gear, and I got the traits – I got about 22.4K on lvl 80. Getting toughness/vitality gear at 80 – atleast crafted seems nearly impossible to get. Atleast I don’t have any exotic insignias for crafting that provides both.

What you’ll probably notice is that as you level up your warrior and head into WvW your health pool will be smaller, though your character will be stronger, due to traits.

Having a high health pool won’t do much against another level 80 since he has both the gear, and the traits as well as skills when heading into WvW.

Woa – well… okay..

Now I am not a guardian, I play a warrior – however, a friend of mine.. infact two of the, play guardians, my one friend he plays mainly with greatswords, and I believe he weapon switch to sword/shield or sword/focus, not entirely certain on that one – but he keeps telling me how laughable easy it is to play a guardian, since he has a ton of mobility due to teleporting of some kind.

Where as my other friend, who plays support, in dungeons specificly, pretty much never dies, or goes into down state… ofcourse he does, but very rarely – without him I know with the setup I have I would be downed several times more than I otherwise would in a dungeon fight against a boss.

Guadians got utility to both block attacks for himself as well as his team mates while inside that circle of his, which btw has saved me a tremendiously amount of times, my friend with the greatsword is quite capable of actually DPS’ing as well as to avoiding death through dodging cleverly, I have to dodge as well, and I am specced toughness/vitality on my warrior.

I really don’t think that guardians low HP pool is such an issue as you might make it out to be – I honostly see Elementalists go down a lot more often than I see guardians go down, and elementalist while having several methods for being at a range compared to a guardian, then imagine being an elementalist with a dual dagger set up, or atleast just a single dagger in the main hand ?

Being able to actually dodge does a lot in this game, you do get the time to actually do it – We defeated the first boss in Ascalon catacombs exploration mode while actually killing his 2 adds, and then switching to him after those two were down.
He’s extremely tricky yes, but we had me as a warrior, my friend as a guardian, both of us were melee, then we had a ranger, and my other friend as a greatsword guardian for dps – we learned to anticipate his pull which is followed up by his whirlwind attack, so we learned to dodge the pull – this actually helped us a lot, we ofcourse had to res one another from time to time, but not once did we have to respawn ourselfs and head back from the waypoint while the battle was ongoing.

I agree its a really difficult fight, but downed state is really part of the game, you really just need team mates who actually knows how to help you get up from a down state, and you’re usually good to go.

Guardians has extreme survivability if you know how to use the tools, and can be extremely tough to take down.
Same thing with warriors, but just because warriors has a large HP pool and high amount of mitigation, doesn’t mean that we won’t get 4 shotted or 2 shotted for that matter.

If my cooldowns as a warrior is used, I have to dodge out of the fire to avoid taking damage, or I will simply die. No amount of HP will actually save me from that – we don’t have nearly as much HP regen as a Guardian does, or for that matter the same amount of healing utilities as a guardian has, if we did, warriors would be extremely OP, same thing goes for Guardians – even in PvP they are extremely difficult to take down >_<.

It actually does – outside cinematics, and besides actually using skills, if there’s someone behind the camera you’ll hear the sound coming from your back speakers, or center if directly infront of you, as well as left and right depending on where obviously.

So yes it does support 5.1 not sure about 7.1 since I havent got a setup for that, but certainly 5.1

Where as when in cinematics, everything just comes out of all the speakers, same thing with using skills

Really frustrating I must admit.

Sounds odd if its not working for you properly ;o

It does not have have real surround sound all it has is matrixed surround which is why it sounds of and different everywhere. Voice in game can come from behind yes but turn the camera around and you will find that they do not pan correctly and there is no real sense of distance.

I actually just tried this – seemed to panning correctly to me, the sense of distance is off indeed though.

But if it is matrixed, then I suppose it makes sense that some sounds are just coming out of all your speakers and not where the sound is actually supposed to come out.

Even so, in beta this didden’t seem to be an issue at all, which I find rather odd :/

Guilds, Dungeons, and Group Content of the two.

ZoiN.4280

Over the last few weeks, we have had more and more people hitting level 80 in our guild, where as ofcourse those who do hit level 80 would like to do more stuff with their guild mates.

Problem with this is though, there’s not an awful lot of grouping content which actually requires you to be in a group, there’s dungeons, yes – but you’ll only be able to have 5 with you into this dungeon, where as not everyone wants to do the dungeon you want to do, for several reasons;

One could be that they simply hate doing dungeons
Another could be that they simply just dislike that particulary dungeon
Where the most prominent reason is probably that they really dislike the art of the armor and weapons that you’ll be able to buy for the symbols/tokens in that specific dungeon and would rather want to do another dungeon.

We’re a mid sized guild and this certainly splits us up a lot, and causes a lot of problems when actually wanting to set up events for the guild, to work together.

Ofcourse there’s WvW but again, not everyone wants to do WvW either, and I do believe this to be quite a major issue when it comes to guilds and their purposes.

At the moment there’s not any big reasons to actually be in a guild besides the bonuses guilds can give to their members – though actually getting these bonuses pretty much only requires the differen’t guild members to be online and otherwise play the game by themselfs.

As a guild leader I am REALLY trying to get several events up and running, though the lack of a guild calendar to schedule things is also lacking, which also makes it more difficult to get an organized event up and running.

In Guild Wars 1 we had Guild Battles, Hall of Heroes, and other such things we could do as a guild, alliance battles even in the Factions campaign, though, here we’re lacking quite a few things which makes it hard as a guild to actually come together and do things.

I would really like to set up a guild event to take on one of the dragons – though the nature of these events is that we can’t really trigger them as a person and will have to wait for the event to spawn, so we can’t really plan to go up against those at specific times, where as the nature of dynamic events, doesn’t really require the effort of a guilds coordination to participate either.

I do really hope we’ll get to see more content which could potentially be directed at guilds for us to participate in, so we can come together as a guild besides the dungeons, to actually participate and accomplish something together.

Just my two copper.

Mesmer Solo PvE Farming has terrible efficiency

in Mesmer

Posted by: ZoiN.4280

ZoiN.4280

Mesmer’s can be difficult to solo groups of mobs, but certainly not impossible. I use sword/pistol and greatsword. When getting a group of mobs on me, I try to line them up and use skills that damage in a straight line like Mirror Blade and phantasmal berserker which will also hit multiple enemies, and then you can use the illusionary wave to knock them all back. Then I switch to sword/pistol and use magic bullet to stun all of them and get up close and slash all of them with blurred frenzy, jump back and pick a target with the most health and put Phantasmal Duelist on him. Then I jump back, and switch back to greatsword, push them back and rinse and repeat. With ranged attacking in a group of melee, you can either moa bird them, and when they recover from that, you can also use feedback to reflect their projectiles back at them. You will have to also make sure to roll away when either of those are on cooldown and a projectile is fired at you, or if magic is fired at you, because feedback doesn’t effect magic.

Also when you get elite skills at 30 you can easily use the Series 7 robot to attack instead of using the moa morph to dish out damage to them for 40 seconds which is really handy solo. Make sure to put points into domination for bleeds and use any debuff shields you may have like the radiation field, I don’t remember its exact name.

I prefer to only take on 2 or 3 at a time if I can, and don’t grind by killing, but grind events and hearts.

Some of the elites you listed here are Asura specific and not mesmer specific.

Mesmer Solo PvE Farming has terrible efficiency

in Mesmer

Posted by: ZoiN.4280

ZoiN.4280

Mesmers are indeed in lack of some decent AoE abilities.
Swords are good, but being able to actually take out a group of mobs, with a sword/pistol combo, or sword/focus for that matter can be a daunting task as the best damage ability you got is hotkey number 2, and only strikes 3 times then goes on a decently long CD, which is probably there due to the invunerability you get from using it.

Greatsword well, that AoE it has is not really all that great either, and staffs has their auto attack which bounces between targets. Where their number 5 ability is really good, it has an extremely long cooldown.

Focus based phatasms (wardens I think they’re called), does a really good amount of damage, though they’re rooted, which can make them quite difficult to use.

Beserkers, from the greatsword, are decent as well, though only active every 6 seconds or so, and in PvE they tend to be killed more often than they are up in groups, in my experience anyway.

Mesmers do have lots of escaping tools, though absolutely needing more AoE tools when it comes to actually fighting groups of mobs.

it’s like this with all the dragons, where as Tequatl The Sunless is probably the easiest of them all, as he can frankly be soloed o.O

What.

I dunno what have you been doing, but holy kitten, Tequatl requires to be bashed for 15 minutes with 20 people around. Really tanky and it has tricks that can screw you over and it’s not as easy as the other boss fights. I like to hold Tequatl as an example because you actually have to pay attention to the surrounding swarming Risen and the numerous other threats it poses. It’s not really hard, but it takes more effort than The Shatterer.

That sounds rather odd, unless they actually fixed it, then no adds really spawn around him, only the big ones, which are so easy to avoid o.O

Obviously, it’ll take hell of a long time to kill him alone, but its absolutely possible.

We even 3 manned the thing..

You know, those bone like things that pops up near him, they don’t seem to appear when you are only a few players around him, they start to appear on the other hand when more show up, I might be wrong on this, could be they trigger when he’s at a certain amount of health, but even so, those can also be dealth with.

The poison clouds are pretty easy to spot, yes they will kill you if you stand in them, but not standing in them or having those bigger dudes blow up next to you, is really easy .

Claw of Jormag on the other hand is a lot more difficult and tkaes way more punishment than both Teqautl and the shatterer – where as I consistently see people getting into a downed state.
First phase is relatively easy when doing him, but second phase is a bit harder since champion mobs starts to spawn, and those ice elementals on the ledge will either 1 or 2 shot people, if there’s not a seperate group taking care of them.

Picture where we were 4 or 5 people killing him taken a few weeks back.

Why not just have the difficulty rampup branch out with the chain when its starting to go the other direction – such has going a step further down in difficulty everytime players lose an event, and then heads the other direction – that way the difficulty won’t be entirely removed and otherwise be pushed back from the players right away, or atleast not as easily.

So if I am understanding this it will go like this.

server reset DE set to Dif 1
win set to 2
win set to 3
….
win set to 12
lose set to 11
lose set to 10
win set to 11

and so on?

Pretty much.

Well that is if the event stays on the same event for longer periods of time.

ZoiN.4280

I think the soultion of ramping up difficulty for each successful win of the same event is a really good one, but then you’ve got the problem of in stead of one event repeating, now you’ve got two.

You lose the defense of A, and now you’re on the leadup. Then you complete the leadup one time and back to farming A.

I think a better option would be a sort of “wipe event” on chains if its been sitting in ultimate win for too long. For instance, seraph has totally held centaur lands for two hours… the centaurs finally have enough an simultaneously assault everything with massive rock dogs, creating a large scale no-win “survival” event that still rewards participation as a win. Something like “Hold out against the centaur uprising” that tags all involved waypoints as contested. Now you’re playing for a scaling reward based upon how long players can keep a fighting force active until it is ultimately removed.

Now you have an entire metasystem in “full lose” mode and the ecosystem can return back to normal events, minus the players that decided to go to a different zone to camp winning chains for the easy way out.

This would also shake up orr and get it away from the “camp three defenses for infinity” and back to the intent of the zone, which is the packets of players would need to do DE chains up to their objective zone (arah door, god shrine, whatever) and complete the task there, then hold it until it becomes unsustainable.

Heck, you could even put a timer on the ME itself notifying players that this is going to happen. “Zhaitan is enraged. Counterattack begins in 10:00” or somesuch, basically letting people know that they have a small amount of time to accomplish whatever they came to that point to accomplish.

In my mind every trip to Arah should really require players to start at straits and fight their way in, and there shouldn’t really be any “safe” waypoints in Orr proper in the first place.

I think they should absolutely increase the difficulty on a lot of the events..

Tequatl The Sunless can even be soloed, that’s how easy he is.
A group event with an giant dragon, is way easier than the Centaur Boss in Harathi.
Thing is that all the smaller mobs spawn quite a bit away from Tequatl and will never reach the players close to him – The bigger mobs which explodes and leaves a poisnous cloud, is so easy to avoid, you can run to them then dodge away from them to make them explode at places you want them to explode while shooting at his feet.
The spikes that he throws from his wings, are also really easy to avoid – where as having the bonewall up at all times actually helps you not to run to far away from him when he fears you :/

The Difficulty on Claw of Jormag should probably be increased just a little bit, though this one is more on par with what I think seems more difficult, where as the shatterer can’t be soloed due to his self healing, as well as incasing players in crystals, he’s extremely easy as well.

Prayer to Dwyana healing skill needs buff

Yeah – the Dwayna healing skill seems pretty useless to me as well – playing as a warrior, I can’t really find any use for it as pretty much every other heal skill I got outpeforms it.

Even if its there for flavor, why is it there at all if it is being outperformed anyway ?

Human Cultural Heavy Armor

What I’m more curious about is the amount of gold they actually cost when they are of rare quality and not exotic.

You’d most likely have a full exotic set before even being able to actually buy a single piece of the cultural armor.

Fair enough you can buy it and then use it for transmutation purposes, but wouldn’t it be better to actually have the items being a transmutation item instead then o.O?

I just a few days ago decided I wanted to go hammer, as well as mace/shield depending on the situation – I really hated hammer in Beta, but now im really loving it.

Some of the knockdowns and other control the hammer has is quite amazing.

In my opinion, warriors need a nerf.

I’m playing warrior, not one of those burst dps warriors, but tanky sword/shield warrior- I don’t think I’ve been beaten in pvp yet unless I pretty much get swarmed.

Gap, closers, with long roots, to cripple, as well as stun and reflection blocking abilities, and thats really just the weapon skills, healing signets health regeneration, while having the trait, that you gain even more health regen on top of that depending on how much adrenaline you got. well, makes my character extremely difficult to kill already, then ofcourse there’s also all the utilities, but won’t get into that here – having people run away from me, because they don’t do enough damage, is what I experience mostly.

Warriors at the moment as well as guardians seems to be the most strong classes in PvP as it stands right now.

How did you even get the recipe for that ?

- I obviously thought you might be able to make those through the discovery system, but then found out that you can’t put all the items into the discovery slots.

Surround Sound

Since BWE3 the sound system seemed to have changed a lot – At the moment, you can hear players (at times) when their character speaks, or NPC’s who speak, if they’re right next to you.

This also leads to another problem which is with surroundsound – When using abilities the sound comes out of all 5 speakers, this sort of gets a lower quality sound to it, as it does seem to lose some of the deeper tones a bit as they are overwhelmed by the other speakers middle and higher tones.

This problem also persist in cinematics where NPC’s talk or for that matter the NPC, the sound comes out of all 5 speakers here as well – the sound is first and foremost extremely load because of this, or some of the sound is atleast.
I remember in BWE1 Where the sound didden’t come out of all the speakers, combat sound was VERY loud and had to be tuned down a bit indeed, though right now, I barely get the bass effect from when my warrior swings his sword, as you otherwise would hear when watching the warriors skill videos :/

Am I the only one actually experiencing this even ?
I’m using my Nvidia Geforce 480GTX with the newest beta drivers, and its HDMI port for sound.

Using 7.1 surround or 5.1, the sound is buggy and cuts in and out

Are you experincing dialouge cinematics sound to come out of all your speakers as well, as you’re own combat sounds ?

I’m using 5.1 surround sound and that’s really my biggest issue when it comes to sound :/
